“Who stole my lunch?”

Cannibal’s carefully packed work lunches keep disappearing day after day. Only his. Grrr. Someone obviously appreciates expert cooking, but this constant thievery is about to throw him into a berserker rage. He has to track down this atrocity.

“Don’t feed it,” his brothers warn, “you’ll just encourage it to scavenge.”

But Cannibal can’t stay away because someone, or something, is hiding in an abandoned section of the Illibrium mine and stealing his food! This has to stop, now. But, as he leaves prepared lunches for the mysterious female with the luscious scent, he finds himself moving deeper into the old mine, needing to ascertain her safety…and finally he comes face-to-face with the female he’s been feeding. He’s found her. And she’s… a human female of royal pigment?

Oh hell, she’s too good for him.

They’ll never let him touch her. They’ll never let him keep her. He wants her as his Bride, but he can’t.

But he’ll die trying.

I continue to really enjoy the world building and characters of this series - it keeps me coming back for more. The thing that keeps me from really loving these with my whole heart are the info dumping speeches we get every ~10 pages or so... it takes me out of the flow of the story. Still, these are just fun, and I really loved seeing Cannibal express his love via his cooking

Roxy had just started work as a lab assistant on a project to help bring medical care to backward planets. The team had just had a big breakthrough when everything went to pieces. Enemy aliens had invaded the planet looking to steal the technology. The human team leader injected Roxy with one of the health treatments with nanobites and asked her to avoid being caught by the enemy by med scans and to get to HQ to have her blood harvested for a sample. Roxy was able to escape the planet but was trapped on a space station where the only way to leave would have her caught by the enemy. Then she sees some newly mined Illibrium that seemd to communicate with her. She felt the urge to transport to Timbur and hide out on a certain mine level. Roxy sold everything she owned to afford the transportation. Upon arrival in Timbur, the residents treated her with great respect since her skin color was the same as their royal pigment. Roxy was able to escape and get to the level that she was drawn to. It was almost the perfect hideout with shelter and a spring but there was no food. Luckily there wer some miners working the other side of the level so she was able to steal lunches from them.

Cannibal is a miner who was known for his love of food and his grumpiness. No one thought he would ever get a mate because he wouldn't ever provide for them. When Cannibal's lunches start disappearing, he gets furious. He is also feeling a strong pull to the shut down half of the mine level. One day he finally goes to investigate and fgures out that someone is hiding there and they are female. He decides to make 2 lunches from now on. After about a week of that, his curiosity gets to be too much and he chases down the female. To his surprise, it is a human woman of royal pigment and he can tell from her scent that they will be compatible matches. He decides right then he will protect Roxy and lay his honor down for her. He won't claim her though until he knows he can keep her. Men of common blood can't ask women of royal pigment for compatibility testing. If his people find out about her, she will be taken away from him.

The couple: Cannibal (Gorzan) and Roxy

Romance genre: alien
Series: The Fever Brothers
Length: 120 pages

Plot: Roxy is on the run from a bunch of bad guy aliens. She has a special serum in her blood that they want but that she is trying to keep safe. She hides out in the Illirium mining facility in an old storeroom. Cannibal figures out she is there because she steals his lunch every day. He determines that he needs to figure out what sort of creature would steal his lunch - he's not known as a rational being when it comes to his food! It turns out that Roxy is much more than a thief though, and he will soon discover that to him, she is everything.

Commentary: Roxy and Cannibal were, of course, perfect for each other. The food aspect was pretty cool - Cannibal loved food, loved to cook, and Roxy was so appreciative of his talent and of everything he made. It was a little confounding that his family believed he wouldn't be able to take care of a mate, when all he did from the very beginning, from before he even saw her, was take care of her. He expressed his care through food, and he did for his other family members as well, even if they didn't quite notice.
...female was simply hungry and desperate for food. And in her desperation, she’d zeroed in on his lunch, which caused pride to swell in his chest. She was in trouble, and she’d sought him out for help. This made sense because he had the best food. He couldn’t get past the idea that if another living thing was hungry, it had to be fed. Food was the highlight of Cannibal’s entire life, second only to his fever bond with his personal crystal and his career on the Illibrium mine. He had a passion for sharing food with others. If he hadn’t become a miner, he would’ve instead been a chef. An owner of a restaurant specializing in fresh, organic food. He was either working on the mine or preparing and eating food. It was a good life. Except he spent all of his free time solely with his brothers, who did not truly appreciate the food as he did.

I love the peek at the previous mate-pairs as well, and the reference to the cats while trying to lure Roxy out was pretty funny:
“But have you tried introducing her to the cats?” Rook urged. “The cats might be the key.”

This was a great addition to the serious - Cannibal was seriously loveable, and Roxy was his champion in every way.

Sweet tooth

I love a man who can cook! And why do the people in trouble always think more trouble will happen of they ask for help? Well it makes for a suspenseful story!

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was pretty clean, with only occasional typos that will hopefully be fixed in the retail version. The world building was competent, with the Illibrium mine being well described. The characterization was good, with the hero and heroine both being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was interesting, with the emotional bonding and decision to commit all happening before the attraction came into play, which I appreciated as something different to what I usually read. This novel had a heat level of two chili peppers. I rated it lower heat level because it was such a slow burn. The plot and pacing were really exciting in the beginning of the novel, but the whole middle of the novel had slower pacing because not much action or plot was happening. This novel had a medium amount of angst that was somewhat tiresome to read, and high stakes, which kept my interest sustained. This novel used the Fated Mates and Friends to Lovers tropes. The world building was four stars. The plot and pacing were three stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship was four stars. I rounded up and gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. The ending was a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy novels where food is the love language. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases. I will probably not buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

I really enjoyed this book. It started with the action right away. Roxy was working in a lab for only a week before it was about to be besieged by an alien race determined to get the life-saving and extending serum it had created and patent it to sell only to the wealthy. She is given one of the only two existing doses and charged with keeping it safe within her while traveling in secret to headquarters. Once there, their scientists could finish the work and eventually distribute it free for all- poor and rich alike. But with enemies hunting her down, and no one she can trust, can she hide away safely and somehow make it to headquarters without falling into enemy hands?

I haven't read the previous books in this series, but the story was well written where I was able to follow it with no confusion. The hero Gorzan's brothers, as well as their two mates, also have roles in the story and while I couldn't differentiate between them too much (mainly because they didn't have large roles), it wasn't confusing when they were in the story interacting with Gorzan or Roxy as can sometimes happen in stories with a lot of characters when you haven't read the previous books they starred in.

The aliens in this book have customs and traditions that are unique to their species and very different from human traditions. It made things very interesting and made this book feel like an alien novel.

There were a few grammar issues with misspellings, but nothing major. Good pacing, interesting story. 4 stars.

Fun, fast paced story a good addition to the Reader Brother series!💖

In this addition of the Fever Brothers our favorite chief Cannibal aka Gorzan has his lunch stolen for several days in a row and is super grumpy and Hangry! He is determined to find out who the thief is and deliver swift punishment. Roxy is a human female who was a lab tech on Omega 9 . She was part of a very important team and the head doctor was working win a serum that would help billions of people. But before trials can begin the lab is attacked and the doctor asks Roxy to save his life's work and get the serum to the head scientists. She agrees to be injected and find away to make it for the medical facilities. In her grand escape she ends up on Timber hiding out in one of the crystal mines starving and trying to plot how she's going to save herself and the serum. That's when she meets Cannibal. I love how these Fever Brothers and scent their mates even before touching. How gentle they are with their females and how absolutely fierce they are when anyone or anything hurts what belongs to them 😘 the chemistry is real and intense between them and they work at building a relationship based on trust . Oh the Fever Brothers, I have really missed them. This book is kind of a follow-on from the last Swirl book I read, not because it features the same characters but rather it has to do with Dr Petrov's formula for affordable health care for everyone that the Lurks are hoping to steal and make a fortune off. In addition to injecting his daughter with the serum Dr Petrov picks another human female, Roxy, to receive the second dose and escape on a separate transport all in the hopes that at least one sample could make it into the hands of the IHO and be synthesised for mass use. When the Lurks follow the members of the lab and insist on scanning the members Roxy sells everything she owns and transports down to Timber and hides herself in a mine. It turns out that there is something in the serum that aligns her to the Illubrium. Cannibal (real name Gorzan) is the brother who cooks like a dream and has been given the name Cannibal because of his love of food and his brothers tease him that he would steal the food from his bride's plate. Cannibal tracks Roxy down when she steals his lunches. As soon as they meet Cannibal realises that Roxy is his bride and is determined to do everything to protect her but that includes earning her trust and getting her to admit why she is hiding in the mind. I loved the characters and the story kept me highly entertained and melted my heart.

Fever brother Cannibal is frustrated - he loves his food and for several days his lunch has disappeared. While it is nice that someone appreciates his expert cooking, at the end of the day it is theft and he really is hungry! Then he discovers that someone is hiding in an abandoned section of the mine and whomever it appears to be a woman with the most amazing scent. So he starts making a lunch specifically for her then he goes in search of her to find out what is going on. When he finally comes face to face with her she is a human female of royal pigment. Human Roxy escaped the Lurks who were after the solution to illnesses that her professor had developed. In order to preserve it, she was injected with it so that it could be delivered to somewhere safer for further analysis. Having seen some illibrium it "spoke" to her and told her to hide in the mine. Now that Cannibal has met his mate he will do everything he can to protect her.

I really enjoyed this story with the jeopardy of the Lurks desperate for the new medical advance to be in their hands, the mystery for Cannibal of who was stealing his lunch, the discovery of a mate, the complications of when and if he could claim her. It was was mystery story with another mystery underneath it. I enjoyed the use of the existing human mates to help with advice. Easy to read and understand. I could feel Cannibal's frustration at times. Contains explicit sexual content.

Cannibal might be a sweaty alien miner, but he is ALL ABOUT his meals. Because he makes darn good meals! And his brothers know you DO NOT get between Cannibal and his food.

So what's a big, sweaty alien miner to do when his carefully packed lunches are being swiped by a sweet human lady in hiding? Well, THIS alien miner just doubles down and makes enough for the both of them. Which works quite well. For a while at least. Then Cannibal starts worrying that his lunch thief is hurt or in danger and soon he's tracking her down to check in on her.

And since Cannibal is one of the rare aliens who knows his mate by smell...well, you can probably guess where things end up with the two of them.

Yup, Cannibal falls head over heels and vows to protect his new lady friend with his everything. But Roxy's on the run from dangerous folk and she doesn't want to put him or his brothers in the line of fire. A little push and pull, a lot of growling, and one accidental grabbing of the hand and suddenly these two are getting their groove on in THE BEST WAY.

I enjoy these brothers and the human women who captivate them. Cannibal might not want to share his food with his brothers, but he has NO PROBLEM making sure his Roxy is fed and fed well. *thumbs up*

Roxy had worked at Dr. Aleksander Petrov's medical habitat only one week when there was a threat of the Lurks attacking the space station, and all workers and records were evacuated.

but proxy was the only other human aboard beside the Dr. and his daughter, so he asked her to accept a shot of his new serum and carry it in her body to the IHO, the health organization they all worked for, so that the serum could be tested and produced for all beings, not just the rich who could afford to buy it from the Lurks. She accepted, left with the others while the Dr. and his daughter also took shots of a variant and fled in a different ship to draw the Lurks off. But now the Lurks are searching all the staff for any trace of the serum, so Roxy flees to a planet a crystal told her to go to, Timbur, where the Illibrium crystals are carefully harvested in a deep mine. There she hides deep in the mine, and steals food from the miners who are working that level. One of those miners keeps having his food stolen and finds Roxy, scents her and finds she is his mate. Can they stay safe from the mining company, the Lurks, and get Roxy to the IHO? Will the mating fever hit Cannibal and will the law judges let him keep Roxy as his mate? Will Roxy even want to mate a gorgeous alien who cooks like a chef?

I am torn. I read this book so quickly that I almost feel like it should be three stars--but I'm going with four because I love the fever brothers, and Michele Mills brings me endless entertainment in this world.

When Roxy escapes the Lurks with a highly sought-after experimental scientific serum, she knows she must hide. A piece of illibrium 'speaks' to her and gives her the idea to go to Timbur where she can safely escape the danger. But the Lurks won't be discouraged.

The Fever Brothers are Margol Xylan, attuned to the illibrium they mine. Cannibal (his crew name) would be a chef if he weren't a miner. He loves food. When his lunches go missing, Cannibal gets a bit testy. Of course, discovering an unmated female living in the abandoned caverns isn't what he's expecting as the reason for his going hungry. But now he knows he must take care of her. Especially when revealed that her skin is royal pigment--and she's his mate.

Like I said, this was a super-fast read. I read most of it in a long bathtub soak and was surprised when it was over so soon. I can't wait to read the rest of the brothers' stories. I recommend the series. Michele Mills always writes great Sci-fi Romance.

Uh, 1.5 stars? This one was a mess. It feels rushed and like the author just wanted it done, publish the first draft, no proofreads or edits.

While the reasons for the Bride hiding out are different, this is just a mash up of the last two stories in this series. She hides out, refusing to tell anyone why "for their own protection" just like Lila, which makes absolutely no sense in this story after a certain point. Lila even TELLS her that they have the exact same story, but it doesn't move the plot along. Then they get the mating from Hook's story. They even remind you of the falling elevator scene 1 paragraph before they reenact it (but never explain why or how it happens that way.)

The ending is an incredibly anticlimatic conversation, where everyone instantly understands and agrees about everything, the end.

I don't know why I spent so much time talking about the plot, because there is very little of it in this story. 80% of this is comprised of repetative, constant exposition dumps, mostly of things we already know from the previous stories. Somebody will tell Roxy about the world, and then the next chapter will be from her perspective, where she thinks over everything that was said to her, explaining it to us again as if it was the first time we've heard it... Then sometimes, it's explained to her again, and she acts as if it's the first time she's heard it. That leaves no room in this short story for this character to have any brains or personality. We are told she is a scientist and she likes pretty things. That's about it.

The repetition is so bad in here, that Roxy will be told things, and then immediately ask to be told the same information again, like when she asks Lila about the Fever Brother's brides IMMEDIATELY after she was just told about them. Lila has one chapter that is solid info dump, and she repeats every page. She tells Roxy that most Brides record the claiming and watch it with family and friends. They are both uncomfortable with the idea... and two pages later, she brings it up again as if it was the first time she's mentioned it. At one point, Roxy is looking at a room, and thinks about how the toilet is so high, because it was made for people taller than humans. Later, Cannibal walks into the room, and a lightbulb goes on in Roxy's head. Oh, this is why the toilet is so high! It wasn't made for humans! This constant surprise and repetition make Roxy look dumber than a bag of hammers.

Also, the focus in this story on the bigotry in the society based on skintone is completely unresolved and feels icky.

There is very little sexy business to save this story, and it comes right at the end. Way too little, too late.

I was looking forward to Cannibal's story. I think I have to stop reading this author.

4.5 stars. Roxy, the female lead, is on the run from a pharmaceutical company’s medical scientists who want her corpse because she’s carrying a new discovery that will allow beings to live longer without needing medical support. She feels drawn to the planet Timber and, following her instincts, hides in a cavern with a small natural stream attached and all amenities from when it was part of an active mine still functioning.

In another offshoot of the mine, Gorzan (Cannibal), the male lead, is working with his brothers as a miner. When his lunch is stolen, he has to work out who is taking it because he’s very food oriented. He’s very pleased to find his mate when he searches.

This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a great tale of family found and family protection and support, as well as being a sweet and steamy romance . It’s a great addition to the series.

One Big Bite by Michele Mills is the third book in the Fever Brothers series, and I had been so eagerly anticipating this one because who doesn't love Cannibal, and it ABSOLUTELY delivered!

Roxy is a firecracker! Feisty and sassy, determined to live her life on her own terms, to chase her own happiness, to survive and thrive. She's witty, and I really loved seeing her come into her own!

Gorzan, Cannibal, I adored him! He's gruff, a bit of a grump, and very dedicated to his food, which put a smile on my face, because it was part of how he showed affection. His innate need to be the caretaker, a giver, yet also OTT when called for was a delightful combination, and had me falling head over heels in love with him!

There's drama, action, intrigue, mystery, secrets in caves, and connections between friends and family that transcend it all. This story was fun, was gripping, and I can't wait for the next brother to find this perfect match!

I loved this one. Roxy is on the run after having being injected with a serum. She runs to Timber to hide and stumbles a cross Cannibal and his crew. Cannibal realized something is wrong when his lunch (and only his) goes missing. I laughed so hard as some of the interactions between Roxy and Cannibal. I appreciated how strong Roxy was to be able to make it to Timber without getting caught. These two were so great, lots of tension between them, fun conversations, some action and suspense before they got their HEA. I will say the only downside for me was that the story felt like the story was moving along then all of a sudden it ended. Everything wrapped up SUPER fast in my opinion - that and I think some of the story felt like it had been pulled from the previous two books in the series. Having said that, I do love all the characters and it's fun to see all the brothers again.

Human scientist Roxy is tasked with keeping a secret that will save an entire race. She accepts but it does mean that she needs to escape the planet that she is currently living on. She makes a break for it and ends up on Timbur and hides deep in the crystal mines. There she meets Gorzan or rather Cannibal as he is called by his brothers, a Xylan. He knows that she is his mate but will do anything to keep her safe even if it means denying himself his bride. Roxy knows on possibly a primal level that she can trust this flamboyant and dedicated foodie but she is not totally prepared to go without him. Is there a way for her to be safe, for him to have his Be'Ih and for their individual dreams to come true?
I love the world that has been described here. The crystals with their potential to make others mad, the Xylan being able to sense their mates by holding hands and those select few who can tell by scent alone along with the humour, fun and steam. A perfect read!

Roxy and Cannibal

Having to leave her work and evacuate Roxy is approached by Petrov to safeguard a trial vaccine that will save billions of lives. With minutes to spare she is injected. Discovering the Lurks are back and examining everyone she sells all her possessions. A chance encounter with a crystal will give her guidance as to where she can find protection and safety. Someone has been stealing his food! Cannibal confronts his brothers but it's not them. Feeling someone watching him she goes into the abandoned mine....

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this engaging, entertaining and compelling story. I loved the characters and their personality; the characters are likeable relatable and have depth. Roxy is a resourceful and brave; and Cannibal is just SWEET and swoonworthy! Told from dual POVs reveals intimately their thoughts.

How can you not love someone that is hungry and can eat whatever they want whenever they want and still look so muscular. Not to mention he’s an alien, and he’s an excellent cook. But it was something else that Roxy found in Gorzon. Roxy is on the run from new earth, and some thing in the Crystal that she passed in the hall trying to find a way off new earth that told her where to go. Where she ended up was down in the mines on Timbur, Gorzon’s plant. He knew immediately that she was his, and she felt it to. But she had a much bigger problem and a secret. A secret that could get her killed. I loved the way the author navigated through the book and how they came together. Not to mention the author always touches base about the other brothers that we’ve met in previous books. Can’t wait for the next one.

I don't know why I find myself disappointed after each book of this series when I know how it's going to go. The set ups always promise a lot of sexual tension and fun moments but because the books are so short and they only have to clasp hands to get spicy, marry and start to build a family all in one the most interesting part and the build up to it are over in a blink. The problem that has to be solved was especially in this book solved very unsatisfyingly. The couple was on the run, fell through two stories, he got injured, they of course clasped hands accidentally therefore setting of the mating but before they could continue the reason why they were fleeing was all of a sudden solved and the HEA was sprung on the reader. In the middle of all the action everything was suddenly over!

Best book cover of the series though

Cannibal finds his bride.

I really liked this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable although not all of my questions were answered by the end. The characters were interesting and likable. Roxy was dedicated to helping people. Unfortunately, that caused her a bit of trouble. Cannibal (Gorzan) was a miner of illibrium and his lunch bag kept disappearing. His brother’s were positive that he wouldn’t be able to have a bride as he would take her food since he was always talking about food and wanting to eat. Gorzan and Roxy were great. Their interactions were funny but also sweet. I loved that family was important to them. The crystals were totally cool. I would have loved more about what happened with them. I liked how the story ended but I would have liked an epilogue further out. I recommend reading this book.

One Big Bite was another fun read by author Michele Mills that followed the adventures of lab tech
Roxy Johnson and her escape from the alien Lurks who want a special life enhancing serum that has been injected into Roxy for safekeeping.
Hiding out in the mines of planet Timbur Roxy soon encounters “Cannibal” one of the fever brother miners whose lunch she has been pilfering daily!
Lots of laughs and excitement ensue as Roxy and Gorzan (His real name) feel an immediate attraction for each other making this another fever brother’s story I thoroughly enjoyed.

My only caveat, it ended too soon! HEA

Roxy is a medical scientist's assistant, given a monumental assignment, when the Lurks attack and she escapes. She hides out in an Illibrium mine on Timbur, where she steals Cannibal's lunches. Cannibal is all about the food, so he packs her her own food, and when he travels to the cave she is hiding in, he realizes she is his bride, and also a being of royal pigment. Will Cannibal and his brothers, and their brides be able to keep her safe?
This is a fun story that ties into several of Michele Mills' other books. The world she has crafted is spectacular, and her beings are relatable. Cannibal and Roxy get their HEA, and how! This is a must read!

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. These brothers keep finding that they have human Brides. Roxy is another human woman in trouble who winds up right where she needs to be. Gorzan, crew name Cannibal, is one of the Xylan Fever Brothers. He is an excellent cook, with a history of losing his cool over his food. Roxy wanted to help better peoples lives. This ends up with her being a test subject on the run. There is plenty of humor, family, drama and love. My only complaint is I wish the stories were longer. The Fever clan is something else at times. It will be great to see them each fall

This wasn't as spicy as i thought it was going to be but i still enjoyed it. It had a great plot with alot of second hand embarrassment moments that were just gushing in cuteness and romance.

Another part i enjoyed was the consented non-consent Play, also know as Rape Play. This sounds worse then it is, both parties agree ahead of time that the act of sex is CONSENSUAL but they pretend to fight it off while the act is happening. It's very brief in the book but it did play a role in the overall story.

What i didn't enjoy was how easy the plot ended. No spoilers but it was tied up to neatly for my tastes which left the ending feel incomplete. But overall this was an okay book with some great moments.

We return to the Fever Brothers on Timbur as yet another human female has managed to get onto the planet and is hiding. Roxy is an assistant and her lab was attacked. Now carrying a serum that could change the way health care is shes being hunted. However hiding in the mines is the best bet right?

Cannibal is losing his lunches and he knows his brothers are behind it. Or are they? Everyone knows you do not touch his meals. Discovering what is going on throws him for a loop because the last thing he expected was a human female of royal pigment and his mate all in one.

Can they survive an invasion, hiding in the mines, the crystals, the royal pigment leaders decision on their bonding, and of course his brothers fears for his bride?

it was a good read and i enjoyed it alot.

I thought that this was an awesome book. Cannibal and Roxy were amazing together. I loved the instant connection and chemistry and connection between these two. There was a lot of steam, laughs, love, sense of protection and family, and a really sweet HEA. I was hooked from the first page until the last; but I didn't want it to end! I thought that this was an excellent addition to The Fever Brothers series and I can't wait to see what Ms. Michele has in store for us next! I would recommend this book and Ms. Michele as a awesome author.

I loved Cannibal. He's an alien after my own heart. Loves to cook and of course eat. Alpha to the max. Very caring and protective. He knows his bride when he smells her and places her honor before his own. Even though she's not sure what is going on.
Roxy is of the royal pigment. Even though she's human. She's also in deep trouble and needs a place to hid. What better place than in a mine full of Illibrium, which she can "communicate" with. Or rather they communicated with her.
Action packed, slow burn to a steamy HEA.
Love this series. Each is a stand alone, although it would be best if read in order. Each has a great HEA.
I would recommend this series to all alien/alpha fans.
