Aptly titled as per the story, Lost Love Late Love by Namrata Gupta was a very well written book on a sort of different topic which we don't see in our usual Romance Genre.
Toxic relationships are not only draining and depressing, but they also manage to create a negative energy around the individual. The book does deal with such toxic relationship, wherein our Main Protagonist Kashika Sharma is in a situation where her ‘boyfriend’, Vivaan keeps constant watch on her and tries to micro manage her life on a minute to minute basis.
Right from the first chapter, I could see the red flags in their relationship: The constant dominance, continuous disrespect, and disregard of the personal choice, no space or freedom.
Now, I admit I have never been in a toxic relationship before, so I cannot say from personal experience, but I absolutely don't understand how the other (Supposedly victim) in this relationship stand the another.
Vivaan should be glad that he is just a fictional character, otherwise, if I ever met him in real life, he would have gotten a swift kick from me for acting like a jerk. Leopards never changes its spot and the male MC was definitely an example of this.
Vidit seemed like a sweetheart at the beginning and in a way, he was far way better than Vivaan, but I was not at all a happy trooper with the way he behaved as the book progressed.
The one character which I loved was that of Kashika. Sure, she had her flaws, but my heart just broke for her. This girl deserved better than what life dealt with.
In all, this was a very nice read for me, which I finished reading in mere two sittings. The language was lucid and perspicuous. I am going to give this book FIVE LOVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
