When your father is hunting you, death is only a second away.
To calm herself at night, CIA operative Sonia Amon whispers to her fears, "Follow the bubbles. Bubbles are life. I am alive as long as I can see the bubbles.”
Sometimes it helps her get to sleep, but not often.
Dr. Sonia Amon, retired Army Major, battlefield surgeon, and CIA operative moves her small family and beloved dog Tessa, to a beach house where she cares for her children and brutalized mother. Still recovering from a near death experience, Sonia works several days a week at a small community hospital. Things are going well for the first time in years.
But, the CIA need her expertise. Can Sonia refuse?
With credible evidence that terrorists plan to poison the Great Lakes, Sonia is torn between duty and her family. Will she leave the peaceful beach house to move to an underground bunker in Detroit to help thwart the threat? If she does, can she trust the CIA to protect her family?
Spies are everywhere. Danger is everywhere. Whom can she trust? Perhaps not even herself.

She is the author of the Alex Destephano Medical Thriller Series and the soon to be released Michaela McPherson, Private Eye, a series centered on a retired homicide detective from Richmond, Virginia who really can’t retire.
“Before I wrote fiction, I was an academic writer who published research, theoretical works, text books and just about anything a nurse or college professor needed to publish to survive. The differences in academic writing and writing fiction are dramatic. Writing what I know propels me to pull from my clinical experiences, some good, some not and use popular fiction as a means to teach and advocate for others. My books have three purposes, to engage the reader, to entertain them and to educate about healthcare and perhaps, the darker side of hospital life.
I am a nurse and hold graduate and doctoral degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Virginia. I have always been a reader and a writer and I love it. I am a member of the Virginia Writers Club, The Shenandoah Valley Writers and Sisters in Crime.

I found myself putting chores aside in order to finish this book. Dr. Amon is a compelling character with a diverse history. I loved that she has a dog companion. I did find, at one juncture, the story line was not believable. Dr. Amon is too intelligent to make the character judgements she did. I actually set the book down because it was unbelievable. I did return the following day to finish the book, with a satisfying ending.
TAMPER ..PROOF......Judith..Lucci A father.awaiting trial, the hatred he had for man kind, a dark world she grew up in. Siblings who maybe worst than the father. While her husband Jeff not there to help her, to protector their children. The danger comes from her father’s organization, a Dr. who was a plant to befriend her. A father who deals with the unthinkable, laying thoughts, then people would turn on themselves.A terrorizing plot from beginning to the end. This has been her.life, the threats of her father and siblings is always out there. Great story and great series.
Does Dr. Amon ever catch a break? Apparently not. This is the fourth installment of the series and it takes our protagonist, Sonia, on yet another tension-filled journey into the fight against terrorism. Now a widowed mother of two, Sonia, is pulled back into the world of espionage against her wishes when a credible threat emerges that, if realized, could spell certain disaster for the U.S. Her patriotism and her unique skillset compel her to accept an assignment requiring her to live, away from her family, in a secret underground facility while she works to thwart the diabolical threat posed by her ISIS-affiliated father and half-sister. The underlying premise of the threat (biological contamination of our water supply) is frighteningly plausible, the suspense is spellbinding, and the drama of Sonia’s ever-worsening circumstances is heart-wrenching as she faces threats from all sides to her personal safety, professional integrity, and even her own sanity. Even her faithful furry family member, Tessa, is put in harm’s way in this story. The author certainly has put our heroine through the wringer with this fast-paced, well-imagined, and disturbingly realistic adventure. At this point, I am not sure if Sonia is the only one with PTSD. Regardless, I am certainly looking forward to the next story in this captivating series.
While I was provided with an advance copy of this book by the author, I also chose to purchase a copy and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.
If you find this review helpful, I thank you for so indicating.
"I exhale into the water, watching for bubbles. Follow the bubbles, I tell myself. The bubbles don’t lie. The bubbles are life. The water is growing warmer against my skin. Am I nearing the surface? It’s continuing to heat up, painfully so. My hand breaks the surface, and I pull myself upward. I’m joyous that I’ve left the water behind and can breathe freely… that is until I realize the heat comes from the ring of flames around me, floating like Hell on the shifting waves." Still recovering from near death experience Sonia is determined to move her small family to safety. Under duress from the CIA, she agrees to leave her family under CIA Protection and journey to an unusual US instillation, an underground salt mine, recently built to train first responders to combat and respond to terrorism. Life in the underground mine is bleak and depressing, but Sonia focuses on her work until she’s attacked by the very people she is assigned to protect.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I loved it! The writing is extremely good and the story had me chewing my nails and on the edge of my seat. Dr. Sonia Amon is pulled back into the CIA by a plan her half-sister has to poison the water in Detroit. Her half-brother has given the US a beads-up on this threat. Sonia's family is moved to a military base to keep them safe while Sonia reports to an old underground salt minethat has turned into an underground military facility. Once there, aomeone is out to ruin her reputation and cause harm to her. Her dog gets poisoned, she has to lay low and be overly cautious if she's to come through a pretty bad experience with little support from anyone who is also based at the compound. Has her half-sister infiltrated the military facility or does she have someone planted there to cause grievous problems for Sonia? Is Sonia going to be able to handle whatever happens or will her reputation be forever ruined? Will her therapy dog be okay? Will she get to return to the seaside cottage with her mother and children? Will Detroit lose their drinking water? Get this book to read for yourself. It's a terrific book!
I received a free advanced reader copy of the book. This is my voluntary review.

After suffering heartbreak in Fool Proof, Sonia moves her family to a small beachfront town and tries to settle into a normal life with her mother and her work at the local ER. Unfortunately the Agency comes calling again. They want her to go underground, literally, and help train local first responders for the attack they believe is coming soon. With her family moved to an Army base for safety she finally agrees. She will spend the next year in an old underground salt mine training personnel. Again things don't go as planned. Not only is Sonia targeted but so is Tessa, her retired military dog. Everyone seems to be against. Who can she trust? I don't want to spoil anything so you will have to read the book to find out for yourself. I love this series of books. Sonia is a strong heroine with determination and grit. With each book we learn more about she and her mother and the torture they suffered at the hands of her terrorist father. Will she ever have a happy ever after? I am waiting for Book 5 to see. Thanks to Judith Lucci for giving me an advanced copy of this book to read. I can't wait to read the next book. Please write fast!
Dr Sonia Amon is living her life in a beachfront cottage with her 2 children and her mother. She's coping as well as she can being a young widow. The last thing on her mind is leaving but that is what she has been asked to do. There's a terrorist threat to the Great Lakes and she is needed to run an infirmary in an underground facility and to train first responders in the area.
Things are going well until 2 of her patients die. It is found that instead of the penicillin she ordered, they were injected with the very toxin she was fighting. How could this happen? Things start to spiral out of control and her life and profession are on the line. Who can she really trust?
This is a very well plotted thriller with likeable characters (as well as despicable ones). Looking forward to the next book in the series. I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.
This is a story that could happen. Dr. Sonia Amon is working in an underground facility run by the government. Threats have been made on her life. She is in charge of the medicine inventory. All the meds are old and can't be used. Two of her patients die because they didn't get the proper medication. The government has brought charges against her. Someone is framing her. But who? Someone she works with? Who else could get into the facility? She knows she will have to investigate this herself. How will she go about it? Who can she trust? Plot is well constructed, characters are fleshed out, story is well written, twists and turns will keep you turning pages from start to finish. I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
Dr Sonia Amon is a widowed mother of two young children. Her husband Jeff died while working for the CIA. Given that her father is a known terrorist, it is likely that the agency will approach her again to assist and offer theoretical protections
The agency did not protect her husband, or keep her from being targeted
She is a loyal American citizen, and a retired Army officer.
As she tries to live her life, raise and protect her children, one has to wonder which is the bigger threat: The Agency, or her terrorist biological family?
Dr Sonia Amon accepts an assignment from the CIA to help with a threat to the waters around Detroit. Her father is the Emir of Siria, a jihad terrorist, who wants his daughter dead. He is imprisoned in the US, but is being transferred to England. The Emir escapes and gets back to Siria. Dr Amon administers what she thought was penicillin to patients, but was really anthrax. Dr Amon is relieved of her duty. She has to investigate who is framing her to get out of being charged for murder. A thriller that will keep you guessing.
The CIA comes calling for Sonia's expertise and sends her to an underground bunker to train others for a possible biological attack on the Great Lakes. When 2 patients die she finds herself the main suspect. Who is framing her and who can she trust? Even though she's in a secure facility could her terrorist father, the Emir of Syria, or her evil sister somehow be behind all of it? Sonia risks losing her career and even her life to find out. A well paced twisty thriller with interesting characters.
Excellent book. Another winner by Judith. What a great series! Sonia once again gets pulled in by the CIA to help fight the terrorists. Who can she trust? Who is sabotaging her? Will she be able to prove her innocence and discover the culprit behind the deceptions? A book with twists and turns and an ending you don't see coming. Highly recommend! Received an ARC and this is my voluntary honest review.
Excellent reading Dr. Sonia Amon is back...not by choice but because of the circumstances. This character is one with new tricks at every turn. It just grow and morphs.
The story is running smoothly, the supporting characters are good. The only cliche I found was "the red phone" it makes me laugh...
Our herione, Sonia, continues to be tested and put through the ringer for our country. And she never lets the USA down. This is another quick read that keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next. I read it in a night and loved every minute. The only bad thing is now I have to wait for Judith Lucci to write the next one to see what is in store for Sonia and her friends.
I have read all of the Sonia Amon books in this series so far and this is the best one yet. A heart pounding thriller that will keep you guessing right to the last page. I would highly recommend this book. I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.
The Sonia Amon books are fantastic. The imagination it must take to write these stories about the things that are occurring in the world today and that is what makes these books brilliant
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Again another adventure Sonia goes on and how she deals with all that is thrown her way. It is a medical thriller you can follow along with ease and so much action it keeps you turning the pages. Cannot wait to read more.
A medical doctor being framed for murder! Terrorists and biological weapons! Why would a father want his daughter dead? These are just a few of the gripping details you'll encounter as you eagerly swipe the pages of your Kindle to get through this book, because, frankly, I found it unputdownable! Never a spoiler in my reviews, this is a well-written, fast-paced thriller that takes you for the ride of your life. Twists and turns left me in places I just didn't see coming, gave me goosebumps! Great characters that sometimes, I think because of pressure caused a lapse in judgment, but that certainly didn't detract from the book. An interesting book that concluded with a very satisfying ending. I received a complimentary copy and all opinions expressed here are my own and unsolicited.
Riveting, suspenseful, a fantastic story. I started reading this book, fell head first into it and didn’t surface until I finished it. What a page turner lol. It’s a good thing Dr. Amon is a strong woman, because the circle of people she can trust or count on is pretty small. I love this series, and always look forward to the next book. I am always a little sad when I finish reading the books, because I know I have to wait for the next book to find out what trials and danger Sonia will have to go through next.
Between the Agency wanting her help, protecting her family from their Syrian enemies and her job Dr. Sonia Amon is being pulled in so many directions she doesn't know which way to turn. She doesn't have her confidant and husband Jeff to help her work through her decisions. She is on her own especially when someone is trying to ruin her reputation and she has to defend herself from charges that could end her career and she could end up in prison.
Another good one in the Dr. Sonia Amon series. The things this woman goes through is just heartbreaking but she is a fighter. I am on the final book now and am consuming it like i did this one. The interesting thing about this series was that I got books 1-3 on Kindle Unlimited and then this book (book 4) was $5.99 and book 5 was covered in the KU. Weird.
A wonderful, exciting novel. With many red herrings to point the reader in the wrong direction, and to make the story so interesting. I really enjoyed this book. I was able to form a pretty good idea of what was going on up until getting close to the end. I was really surprised by the ending. Shocked, would be more accurate !.An exhilarating ending.
I really like the way this book came together. As an author, I get really involved with my series and I have come to really admire and care about Sonia and her family. I think I'll keep writing this series! Hope you all enjoy it.
I could hardly put this story aside. So much evil in the world, and this great author has shown us how it is possible. A good mystery, intrigue, you will like it. Drink your tea, it will get cold. 🐱 wished her dog Tessa had had a bigger role.
This was another fine thriller filled with plenty of suspense, twists and turns. The storyline and characters were intriguing. This book is highly recommended.
