Chloe and the crew are recovering from their latest escapades and then thrust immediately into the next, as a routine mission becomes anything but and another Elder God comes calling, which is a pretty big hint right there.
Two hundred pages of fighting and Chloe being heroic. There, that’s the book. It’s carbon copied from any other action manga ever, down to the ‘part of a new team that has no respect for you’ and ‘only my stoic attitude can save the day even when I am powerless’ beats.
And, hey, that’s okay. I like these characters, I like Chloe a lot as a character, and the general goofing around they do in and around the missions. It’s not the best the series has been, but the action is fun and nice and easy to follow. If your lead is dynamic enough, she’s worth following.
Naturally there’s a metric ton of fanservice, as befits the mangaka of Rosario+Vampire, mainly in the outfits. The hilarious contortions of the art to carefully protect the most sensitive portions of the anatomy from being peeped at are still appreciated and consistently amusing.
The use of the Cthulhu mythos also remains a fun little addition and anybody with a passing knowledge of Lovecraft is either going to really enjoy the asides or die a little on the inside with how it’s contorted. Knowing that Lovecraft would likely have hated it is icing on the cake (dude sucked).
Even with the warping of the mythos, it’s clear that research was done here and I’m not just referring to the Reanimator, who gets to be creepy in a far more palatable way this time around (who else can grow a leg back that fast?). There’s a lot of lore woven into the story than you might expect.
I wouldn’t say this excels, but it was a good little jaunt capped off with some fun bonus manga that sees our resident cat (god his speech patterns make me laugh) get into some hot water. Which is unfortunate since cats hate water.
This does enough for me. The cast is solid, the action runs together well, it examines the improbable nature of keeping a giant monster secret in this day and age, and Chloe anchors this by being pretty awesome and still mercenary. It’s a cut above.
3 stars - I mean, the only thing keeping this from a higher score is that it wasn’t as funny this time out and it has the depth of a saucer. It’s getting a little oomph from the source material, but if it was doing a little more with it, I’d be happier.

I was really hoping this was going to go down the lovcraftian route and I am not disappointed. This manga is action packed, all the characters are amazing and lovable. I can't wait for more.

The Story So Far....
When evil spirits escape from their jail in Hades, they return to the real world and plunge it into chaos... Unknown actress Chloé, joined by her new familiars Kai and Noel, has gained the power to fight evil spirits as a ghost reaper for Arkham Bullet! On their first mission, Chloé and the boys are attacked by Doctor West, a researcher of dead bodies, and Shoggoth, the Killing Doll. Despite getting off to a rocky start, Chloé and Shoggoth grow close after fighting an even more powerful evil spirit together. Now Chloé's busy taking missions to level up her skills as she makes new allies. What's next for our intrepid heroine?
I'd heard very good things about Ghost Reaper Girl and have been patiently waiting for it to be translated into English. Interestingly, rather than the usual Manga reading style, the artist stated that it should read in the normal Western style of Left to Right.
Chloé Love is a struggling actress and has mostly portrayed corpses and murder victims. Whilst being eyed up by another lecherous producer, she suddenly finds herself being attached by mysterious ghouls. Brushing it off as fancy special effects, she leaves the producer wishing he hadn't tried it on and leaves the studio.
However, on her way home she is attacked again and realises something strange is going on. When a strange man turns up and saves her, Chloé finds herself being ogled once again. However, Kai Iod isn't your usual guy, he's come from Hades to bring back the escaped ghosts.
Needing a vessel to possess to be able to use his full powers, Kai explains to Chloé that she is very special and that is why the ghouls are after her. He also reveals he is a massive fan of her only significant film role in a flop called "Ghost Reaper Girl".
Having befriended a cat-spirit, Noel, Chloé is introduced to Nyarlathotep, who heads the Arkham Bullet, an agency for all those who want to hunt stray spirits. Joining the agency, Chloé, with the help of Noel and Kai, starts her new life as an official ghost reaper.
The H.P. Lovecraft themes ramp up in this volume. Having already been introduced to Nyarlathotep, Herbert West: Reanimator, and Shoggoth, Chloé now finds herself face to face with the Deep Ones, Dagon and Cthulhu.
I'm enjoying this very much. 5 stars.

I absolutely love this series and it just keeps getting better. I love the cast of characters and I love that each book introduces different characters as they all battle together to fight evil. She takes on so many missions because of the money and she does so without even asking which is how this whole book came to be. She jumps the gun. So you see that she is assigned to work with a team because this is a big mission, and it turns out that it was all just a ruse for the Director to find out who is behind all of this. Because she knows that there is somebody in charge and she wants to draw them out and she uses them as bait. Like I understand that she wants answers, but it’s pretty shitty that she turns on her own people and uses them as bait. I don’t care for her at all but I just think it was cool that Chloe was able to transform with her. I just love Kai he’s my favorite. No offense to Noel, but he does not hold a candle to Kai, and now we’re introduced to Oscar who was in charge of all these demons this time. Which they ended up defeating, but Chloe defeated them as a human. Like she defeated the biggest soul demon as a human. She just knows how to work with everybody and uses everybody’s skills and strengths. She’s just an amazing character. And then we’re introduced to Panzer. I like his character. But this unknown character scar he just comes in and he’s going to handle it and he doesn’t get along well with others. But the Director asked him to come in, and he has no tolerance for Chloe, but at the same time he’s kind of amazed by her when he sees her kill this demon as a human without being possessed. Like she didn’t use any skill, she just fought as herself. Because she’s a bad ass. I also love how Shogoth loves Chloe. She really admires her and looks up to her and wants to protect her. I really look forward to new characters and new missions but I’m also nervous about how shady the Director is. I don’t trust her. And in time we’ll find out why.

I’m going to be honest, this isn’t a great manga. Well not the typical definition of “great.” I like this mangaka for Rosario + Vampire. This is a slight departure from that series. To start with, the art is gorgeous. All matter of creature and weapon here are attractive and detailed. (Except for Kai’s scythe face 🤮) The characters are unique and likable. For whatever reason I love this manga. I love Chloe as a main character. She’s close to my age which is very different for a manga character. She drinks with her friends. She makes sex jokes. I can’t explain exactly what I like but I really like it.

Fairly quick read given the number of action panels. Chloe is making more friends and gets another transformation. More Lovecraft vibes (Chthulu appears, so more than vibes). Hitting typical shonen tropes. It feels like it's settling into a good groove.

Chloe has leveled up and can now fight in the higher weight class. But what starts as standard pest control turns into a near disaster when everyone is dragged to R'lyeh by literal Cthulhu who UNLEASHES DAGON ON THEM!

The action is exciting and wonderfully drawn. You can tell Akissa is a bit careful with what and where to put time in with his drawings. Some action panels have blank backgrounds and less detail while others ooze with his signature style and extra little splatters. This is where the hiatuses really kicked in if I remember and it sorta shows in that regard but you gotta keep your mental health up so it's important he did it.

More H.P. Lovecraftian monster mayhem
Chloe Love is soo excited after seeing her recent addition to her banking account after working hard to raise her skills to the 10th level. Of course with more practice comes bigger jobs as Nyarlathotep offers her a chance to work with others to handle an infestation of spirits. However regardless of how tough everyone looks only the select few will survive the night as an end boss decides to see what kind of fun he can scare up. With the odds against them Chloe is going to have to pull out all the stops to save as many s she can before it is too late. Go Ghost Reaper Girl!

Escono fuori personaggi interessanti e la storia si fa più fitta; nonostante ciò sembra un po’ un volume di transizione, che preannuncia cose che accadranno nei prossimi.
Mi è piaciuto il nuovo power up di Chloe e il modo in cui ha reagito quando non ha potuto usarlo. Continua a essere una bella protagonista e tutti i personaggi in generale sono ben fatti.
