Medicine Bow #4

Callie's Choice

Rate this book
Nathan Callister and Callie 'Calamity' Brookes are about as opposite as two people can get.

Nathan believes Callie has earned her unfortunate nickname, particularly as she seems to cause mayhem wherever she goes. Callie is convinced Nathan is the same as every other man she's ever met - an arrogant, opinionated a**hole.

When Callie is faced with an emergency, she has no choice but to call on Nathan for help. Suddenly, their preconceived ideas about each other are challenged, and they realize they have a lot more in common that than ever thought possible.

But just as these enemies-turned-lovers are about to find their happily-ever-after, Callie's traumatic pasts rears its ugly head, threatening any chance that may have had of a future together.

too long and drawn out for a mediocre ending

1/5

A disappointing end to a disappointing series. It’s a bit hard to pinpoint exactly where the disappointment lies. It was more of a culmination of not just this book but the whole series in general. The character “developments” for the heroines were written out poorly and in such an amateurish way that made them come off as juvenile and immature in the end. There were too many “playing-hard-to get” moments to the point that I found it easier to just skim the heroine’s POV chapters altogether.

I respect the effort to tie all four stories in a “plot twist-y” way, but frankly it felt like the author was trying too hard only to achieve clickbait status. The heroes weren’t that well put together either. If I had to pick, I’d say Nate and Travis are neck and neck for the title of worst hero of the series. This is solely based on their treatment of the heroine throughout the book of course. To that respect, Callie and Sophie also tie for worst heroine of the series, based off of their tendencies to become doormats just to get a crumb of affection. For a couple of sexual assault survivors, the author sure had a way of turning them into codependent desperados. Which is already a crime in and of itself seeing as their pursuit of love negates the strength that stemmed from survival. They survived a despicable, monstrous man only to become a slave and verbal punching bag to another. Hooray for female empowerment, I guess.

As a whole, this series is forgettable and should be forgotten as it encourages negative and passive female behavior, but if I had to choose, Book 1 and 3 are decent whilst 2 and 4 should be skipped entirely.

2 PEOPLE FINDING WHAT THEY WERENT LOOKING FOR

This story flows naturally that you keep reading and before you know it youre done. Nate and Callie dont like each other very much. Callie thinks Nate is and arrogant as--hole. Nate thinks Callie is a catastrophe waiting to happen and she should go back to the woods. Callie needs money for her Aunts medical bills so she takes a part time job at the bakery. Nate goes to the bakery as usual and unintentionally insults her. One night she needs help with her aunt and only person she can find is Nate. Nate starts to understand her a bit and see her in a different light. This is 2 people who arent looking for anything but slowly bur surely find something in each other. This is a good story that I recommend and I will certainly be reading the first three.

4.5 stars.

One of the things that I have enjoyed the most about this book is the times I have been surprised by what happened, it made for such good reading. Once I started I did not want to stop as I was so interested in their story. I said in my review of book 3 that I loved how interlocked the stories in this series were and this ran true for book 4 as well.

The sparks that flew between Callie and Nate lead to good dialogue, emotions, trust, support, desire, passion, honesty, family and so much love. I loved the character development of both Callie and Nate, they made me smile and sigh. I also loved the way this series shows the other couples living their lives, the love, respect and support that all had for each other and showed each other.

I really enjoyed reading about Callie and Nate. I wish I had read the other books in the series first. It is just fine as a stand-alone romance, but her characters are really engaging and there were a couple of other couples I would have enjoyed reading their stories too. Nate meets Callie but she rubs him the wrong way. He wants nothing to do with her. But after her Aunt passes away she needs his help. As they get to know one another, he finds out more about her and her past. There is a Happily Ever After and no Cliffhangers. I really enjoyed Callie and Nate's story. Trigger warning- memories of Rape and sexual assault.

The fourth (last?) part of a series. I have also read the third part, not the first two, but after reading this part I have become curious about the first parts.
It can be read on its own, but because you also get to know the other people you become curious about their story.
This story had less action and suspense than the previous one. It was more intrinsic tension, two people finding each other when they hadn;t expected it. I thought it was a bit more emotional, it touched more. Lots of humor, not a moment slow or boring. The end, a whole of unimaginable coincidences, came across very natural

Oh this book made me cry - was emotional and heart breaking. Callie has had such a hard life and so fiercely protecting herself from being hurt again that she is so defensive and hides her soft vulnerable side. Nate can't help but needle Callie when he collects his Chelsea buns from the bakery but he's there for her when she needs help and their banter is hilarious. Callie may have had a traumatic childhood and hard life but she is so feisty and funny! I love this couple.
Again there is secrets, intrigue and chemistry to keep you captivated until the end.

I enjoyed the storyline as it had a nice flow and wasn't choppy. This story is about Nate and Callie. Callie needs a job as she's taking care of her Aunt. She gets a job at the bakery. Nate thinks that Callie is an accident waiting to happen. He's at the bakery when he accidentally offends her. When Callie needs help she calls Nate. That in opens Nate's eyes and he starts to understand Callie better. This story has two people who find each other without really looking. I enjoyed it and I've already put the series in my library. I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This fourth book in the Choices series is all about Callie and Nate. These two have a strong attraction between them. Baggage from the past keeps a wall between them though. When she needs him he there, no questions asked. It is hard for them to move closer until that kiss. They have some bumps in the road to a happy future together but are able to get there. Nate and Callie were a great couple to add to the series.

Nate and Callie do not hit it off at the beginning and try to stay away from each other. One night Callie needs help with her mother and the only one she can call is Nate. Meeting on these terms, they are surprised at the ease between them and they start to think differently. The characters are strong and determined. The storyline is at an easy pace. A few surprises and twists keep the tension going. Loved the ending.

An Extremely Satisfying End to an Awesome Series

Everything is tied together and 5 wonderful women have their true-love-forever man. Children are included as well as adopted mother's & babies. Truly one of the most satisfying series you'll ever read. Everything is included from the most dispicable main villain & side villains to 5 couple's whose lives are renewed by pure love and deep friendship. And the humor never stops.

Callie's Choice.

Having endured a traumatic experience as a child and then having to live with a hateful aunt, Callie goes to work to support said aunt. Never being given any love she doesn't know how to react when Nate offers his attention. How will they go forward when unexpected truth comes to light about her past.

I liked this book. It was not as exciting as the previous book but good non the less. The Callie and Nate relationship was a good solid one. Not necessarily hot, but very warm.

Great Series

I loved all the stories and characters. Some sadness, lot of connected people, but love in the stories heals like nothing else.
