This is the prequel to the first book in the series: "A Match Made in Hatred" and it sets up the stage for the story between Maximus and Emilia.
Normally, I don't read novellas as short books do not have enough depth for me; however, this one is a prequel and it serves its purpose. Therefore it deserves the same amount of stars I have given to the main book "A Match Made in Hatred", which is 4 stars.
When i found this quickie on bookfunnel,i was intrigued. The blurb sounded good,so i decided to take a chance. And found myself pleasantly surprised..... This is short, but it sets up the stage for the who, why, what and when. It shows two mafia families at war,and 3 three men determined to get revenge. It also shows the young innocent daughter of the enemy, that is about to be the one to pay the price her father should. It left me with the hope to find this one outside of Amazon, hopefully on iTunes,KOBO or Smashwords....
A quick but fascinating introduction to the world Morgan Bridges has created for this series. I’m so excited since mafia romance is one of my favorite tropes, and I love my books dark and unholy.😈 I can’t wait to delve deeper into Emilia and Maximus’s story. Their characters definitely pulled me in!
Reading this book for me is like self-flagellation 🤮
The truest thing the hero said in the book was that he’s an animal.. no, brother you’re worse than an animal.
Do you know how I feel about Maximus? I want to grab his empty head and smash it against the wall again and again until it explodes.
My God — that sick, disgusting pig, the lunatic you narcissistic, lust-driven madman. I hate him he’s provocative, sadistic, and abusive, showing his power only over Emilia. You miserable fool... he punishes her for something she wasn’t even the cause of What a petty, low-minded way of thinking from such a pathetic man and his despicable brothers they’re a bunch of sick people who deserve to be strangled to death🤬🌚 I hate them all and I don’t know if I can keep reading their stories they deserve to rot in hell, those ugly vile idiots.
His brothers speak badly about her and call her a whore even though they don’t even know her. They hated and despised her simply because she is the daughter of their enemy.
What a disgusting male-dominated mentality this doesn’t seem like sane thinking for grown men they’re as big as donkeys😑
And he talks about sleeping with his wife while he didn’t do anything to stop it🤢
This scoundrel goes to punish and whip her just because he miserably suspects she loves someone else even though he knows well that she doesn’t.
No matter how many disgusting male characters I read about, Maximus outperforms them all. Go die, you bastard💦💦
As for Emilia I don’t even want to talk about her. She’s weak and stupid she gave me a stroke Still, I can excuse her a little because of the circumstances
I’m so disappointed in Morgan I can’t believe she wrote this garbage 🤡
One more annoying thing.. why do authors give abusive men happy endings in books? They deserve death or misery like dogs. After all the crimes they commit against women, why should they get a happy ending with them? They don’t deserve that not even in fiction. I hope writers stop giving undeserved endings and stop abusing and humiliating women under the name of “love.”

Can't wait to read the next one! There is a lot of rage coming from all sides in this story and I can't wait to see what happens next! Will Emilia remember Maximus the way he remembers her? Great prequel!
Can’t wait to see what happens to Emilia . Maximus Silvestri hates her father so bad he’s gonna take it out on her . Also hope “Carina Nardone is in the next book her and Emilia would be fun to read about.
Didn’t hate it .. didn’t love it. I could not figure out the age gap during that flashback Maximus chapter and that threw me wayyyy off. I hate her father, as I would. She seems to be a bit more rebellious given the right scenario I guess so I would love to see how that will play out moving forward.
I’m giving this series a chance because the last one I read (Hayden & Calista) REALLY let me down 🫠. But I love me an arranged marriage plot .. so we shall see.

This is a great prequel for A Match Made In Hatred and introduces us to Maximus and Emilia. Gives us a little background as to what they are each racing at this moment in their lives and how it brings them together. Looking forward to reading A Match Made In Hatred.
