Unlock the secrets in Reunion Gap

He’s not who he says he is…but neither is she…

Ethan Nance lives his life guided by analyses and spreadsheets and avoids anything resembling an emotion. He did that once and suffered the disastrous consequences of opening his heart. Data collection, objectivity, and deductive reasoning are the keys to eliminating surprises and reducing disappointment.

And then he meets Vanessa Rodelle , a woman who challenges, confuses, and disturbs him in a way no woman ever has.

Vanessa Rodelle once believed in happily-ever-after, but reality taught her the hard lesson of following her heart. It’s much safer to let data and facts guide her.

And then she meets Ethan Nance , a man she can’t analyze, understand, or ignore.

Ethan and Vanessa might not believe in destiny, but one hot steamy night together changes everything, and no spreadsheets or logic can explain or erase it. Can they learn to trust and open their hearts once again for a chance at real love? It's going to get very interesting and the residents of the small town of Reunion Gap will offer their stories, guidance, and support to help this meant-to-be couple find their happily-ever-after. The only question left is will Ethan and Vanessa take the risk and listen to their hearts?

Mary Campisi is the author of over 40 emotion-packed novels that center around hope, redemption, and second chances.

Mary should have known she'd become a writer when at age thirteen she began changing the ending to all the books she read. It took several years and a number of jobs, including registered nurse, receptionist in a swanky hair salon, accounts payable clerk, and practice manager in an OB/GYN office, for her to rediscover writing. Enter a mouse-less computer, a floppy disk, and a dream large enough to fill a zip drive. The rest of the story lives on in every book she writes.

When she's not working on her craft or following the lives of five adult children, Mary's digging in the dirt with her flowers and herbs, cooking, reading, walking her rescue lab, Henry, or, on the perfect day, riding off into the sunset with her very own hero/husband on his Ultra Limited aka Harley.

Two likable characters with all of their insecurities and faults fall in love. A lovely one-day-read.

Ever since he saw his first love struck and killed in a car accident, Ethan Nance has lived his life by analysis, spreadsheets, and research. There was never any emotion involved. And, then he met her.

Vanessa Rodelle is very much like Ethan. She is driven by data and facts having endured a betrayal so deep that she is estranged from her parents and no longer believes in love.

That is why, at their friends’ wedding, Ethan and Vanessa are so attracted to each other. Their attraction ends up with them enjoying the night together in Reunion Gap’s bed and breakfast. However, as pleasurable as that night was for them both, Ethan wakes up alone. Vanessa is long gone back to her normal, solitary, practical life.

When they eventually meet again, Vanessa surprises Ethan with an announcement that rocks both their worlds. Vanessa is now carrying Ethan’s baby.

Pretenders Like Us is another of Mary Campisi’s Reunion Gap series which pulls for those who believe in second chances. It is the story of two very hurt people who live their lives devoid of emotion and, instead, believe in statistics and data. It is the story of two people who must confront their attraction, dissolve their mistrust, and meet the challenge of falling in love.

Pretenders is a beautiful story of reconciliation on many levels. Ethan and Vanessa are supported by characters previously introduced in the Reunion Gap books and it feels good to be included in their midst.

I am a passionate Mary Campisi fan. I do not have to read the synopsis of her books. I just buy them because I know how heartfelt, how wonderful, and how charming they are. My advice to you is to buy this book and enjoy every word. It, as its predecessors, will lift your spirits!

Pretenders Like Us tells the story of two people who are all about logic and control and scorn emotional involvements. Neither Ethan nor Vanessa are prepared for their attraction…surely it’s just lust…and once satisfied easily forgotten… right? Not so easily forgotten is the consequence. Can these two headstrong yet vulnerable people find common ground as they prepare to welcome the consequence? Mary Campisi creates characters that readers can relate to on an emotional level which is why her books are so successful. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book. Most highly recommend.

Well, I have to say this is one of my favourite series of Reunion Gaps books so far. The story is about Ethan and Vanessa, both very intelligent who psycho analyse everything with options and every decision on a spreadsheet. Except the attraction they feel for each other confuses and consumes them. Can they get around the walls they have built around themselves following past hurts to give themselves a second chance? You will have to read this to find out. Wonderful book it had me gripped from start to finish and wanting more! So glad there was an epilogue

This has a slow startup. I kept reading cause I’ve read others by this author and knew I would like it; so keep reading. Each of the leads have had pasts that have shut them down in regards to personal relationships. They are both very successful in business and a client of each of them has just wed (likely the book before this one). Things are slow to grow but finally are looking good until someone interferes and she walks away. Finally the men in the town put his head on straight and the women put her head on straight and it winds up happily ever after. Awwww. Shucks. Grins.

Ethan and Vanessa are both so in control of their professional lives and in such a mess in their personal lives. They both have loved and lost in very different ways in the past which makes them both relationship phobic. But after a hot night together their future is changed forever and leads them to try and work out a way forward. Lovely to reconnect with characters from previous stories in this series. Read an ARC for an honest review.

'Pretenders Like Us' was touching. Its heartfelt plot was filled with secrets, heartache, eye-opening revelations, forgiveness, bits of levity, and love. Ethan and Vanessa, the protagonists, were soul mates and gushed with chemistry. I loved the author's writing style: engaging yet flawed characters who included busybodies galore, an idyllic country-friendly setting, vivid descriptions, and a captivating storyline that held my interest throughout. Overall, I liked the enthralling narrative.

Should have read my review of another book in this series.

This was so boring. There was so much inner dialogue or conversations with other characters (probably from other books). Very little dialogue between the two main characters. They both up and move to this town. Don’t seem to work. Just boring.

I could tell this wasn't the first one about these people...so many hints at back stories!
It worked okay as independent but maybe reading the five (!) that came before it would have been helpful.
It was pretty much a straight romance between two formerly hurt in love people finally figuring out they were ready to fall again.
The End.

Received this download in exchange for an unbiased review. I have enjoyed every book in this series. Great story line and characters that are likable.

A lot of emotions between the main couple within the story. I recommend it as an entertaining read

Not a book I care to read

Way too much emphasis on physical relations and some inappropriate language and very post modern immorality. Unlikable characters and slow plot development.

Removing hurt

Excellent writing and story plot. This story shows that lives can be changed when love enters into hearts. It also showed that the truth should not be hidden but shared. The hurt from old events become less painful when shared.

I wanted to like it...I really did. I love the concept, but the writing was stiff, and the conversations between the characters are unrealistic.
I am willing try this author again, but this was a miss for me.

A bit tedious to read. Lots of descriptive thoughts that are repeated several times in several ways and very little actual dialogue.
