The war for control of Faeland has begun, but the victors may very well have nobody to rule over once the battles come to an end. With the four World Beasts now battling, the land itself is splitting apart, forcing the dwarves and elves from their homelands as they march ever eastward to confront Shedra and the Arcane Kingdom.
Sarah’s return doesn’t solve all of Morgan’s problems. On the contrary, he now knows he’s made enemies of all of the agents of Chaos. Additionally, the cultists of Strangler have overstepped their boundaries, and when something precious is stolen, Morgan refuses to take it lying down.
Warning: This book contains profanity, gore and content that may not be suitable for children. This book also contains GameLit elements, such as stat sheets, a form of leveling, and experience gain.
Sometimes, there are days where I really wish I could take DragonBall Z or a couple of the Final Fantasy games near the end of their awesomely cataclysmic final world-destroying battles, or Superman’s fights with truly big bads, and convert them into long novels designed to give us nothing but battle. Continent-crushing, soul-burning, Spirit-Bomb absolute destruction.
And then someone like Oster gives me my heart’s desire. :)
An absolutely stunning second to last book, I'm vibrating in my seat waiting for the next but simultaneously dreading it because it's the last book. I'll probably re-read the entire series once or twice in the future, and can't wait for other series by the Aaron Oster.
There will be slight spoilers included in this review. First, let me say I've enjoyed this serious up until this book. There has been only one aspect to the story I haven't enjoyed since book 1, and that is the character of Sara. This book not only made me dislike her character more, it began to make me dislike the main character of Morgan. The decisions he began to make because of Sara made no sense in regards to the big picture of saving the world.
Sara's storyline to this point in the series failed to justify anything she gained in this book. The extreme leveling up, supposed maturity that came out of nowhere but still came off as condescending, and Morgan continuing attributing characteristics to her that where actually other characters in his circle and not actual Sara. Every character in this series showed extreme growth throughout the series, except Sara. Yet because the author decided to make this book a fantasy romance, Morgan's decisions are based on feelings instead of objectivity. If this is what the series had started off as or was building to, that would be fine but that's not what this story was about until this book.
The author pretending no one cared for Morgan and acted as family to him until Sara came back is smack in the face to all the characters who fought be his side and became his family (Catherine, Grace, Lumia, etc). Him loving Sara doesn't serve as an excuse regarding his agitation with everyone except Sara. All the races are fighting for their survival against armies led by a World Beast, and Morgan is contemplating whether he should just leave with Sara. Also, he knows he needs to level up quickly to take on the remaining World Beasts and Gods, but he keeps giving his cores to Sara, and offering a World Beast core to a 15 year old girl. What is the rationale in his thinking. He knows he's the only one who can stop these beings but he just doesn't seem to learn and innocent people keep dying.
If the author's objective was to make me dislike Morgan as much as Sara. Objective nearly achieved. The only reason I will read the next book is because it is the final one in the series. At this point I hope that Morgan and Sara have to sacrifice themselves to save the world.
This series could have ended a number of books ago yet the author kept it going and I'm glad they did. A showcase of how you can extend a storyline without the books feeling like they are forced or full of filler. Decent action, low romance so the mix is just how I like it, and the action pulls me through the book at a high pace. These books don't stand alone though so you need to read them in order. The LITRPG stuff is just about right though the author could have likely reduced the number of times the protagonist checked stats, that is a nit because it is easy to just scan through those updates. Overall one of my favorite authors and series.
This is the 9th entry and the author has stated there is to be only one more volume. I'm both excited and sad to see the series end. I have really enjoyed all of Morgan's tale so far, and am curious to know how it ends. I am sad for Katherine, for all she has gone through emotionally, and as a ruler for her people. It would be I referring to see if Morgan does end up using the power in the last core he got, and to see how that affects the battle to come. However it goes down, I, for one, and looming forward to Morgan finally rising to omniscience.
Betrayal cost Faeland it's continent it's no more destroyed at the bottom of the sea .
Morgan tried to prevent a war on Faeland but the gnomes with the help of strangler the world beast and his corruption in the end destroyed the entire continent which now lays down at the bottom of the sea . The only good thing to happen was the resurrection of Sarah Morgan's beloved . All remaining races from Faeland now headed to the Five Kingdom to start over an new lives . recommend reading excellent series .
this book was absolutely amazing and i cannot wait for book 10 it’s been so fun seeing morgan and sarah’s story since book 1 was released and i can’t wait for more of your books to come out keep up the great work 👍🏻
Enjoyed this one a lot, can't wait to see what happens next but also kinda sad that the next book will be the last in the series. The entire series has been a blast and I will miss have a new book to look forward to.
I enjoyed the read. It continues the story and the OP main character isn’t obscenely OP. Though it could be pulled back just a bit or at least let him level. And some of the losses just hurt. But we’ll worth the read.
This book was a bit different from the previous books in the series. A bit less focused on Morgan's personal goals, and more the broader strokes of a war between nations. Once again another amazing book to add to this evolving series
Must read book.i liked everything in the book but would have liked to know something about gold schemes.cant wait for the next.hope it will be out soon.
The series only gets better and I can’t wait until the next book. While fantastic the series really is coming to an end and I know that end will be great.
There is all kinds of things happening in this book. It looks like the next book is going to be even more crazy. Good stuff, read this series, it's really cool.
I have enjoyed the ride so far looking to the final installment. Would have liked to see a bit more from Sarah but it was great to read what there was.
Aaron Oster does it again with another masterpiece. Thank you for allowing me to go on this journey with the characters that I have love and sharing with their pain as well as their glory. I can’t wait to read the next book.
This book is an amazing addition to this series and just really puts it into perspective how far Morgan has come. I love how the characters feel real and there isn't any unnatural or forced drama. It handled by the characters like real adults and I love it. It's sad to think that the next book in this series will be the last. I hope everyone leaves a review so he can make the finale of this amazing series super long!
Close's a good portion to the hub of the loose threads with an obviously lead to the next series of to sell more books. Capitalism authorship at its finest!
