Lost in the Stars

Found by the Alien Fire Prince

Rate this book
I'll never let a man control me again.

I left the Earth to get away from my controlling ex, and I refuse to fall into another man's arms … not even an amazingly masculine alien that awakens an uncontrollable attraction within me.

Bask is the definition of alpha male and my opposite in every way. He comes from an alien species full of domineering males, and I'm not interested. I can't deny that I'm hot for him, but I'm not willing to be his submissive little female.

When our ship crash-es, he goes into protector mode. He thinks I'm a helpless human. I might not have the power to summon fire at my fingertips, but I'm not weak.

We're trapped together, but I'm not going to submit to him, no matter how hot it is when we kiss. If he wants me as his mate, he'll have to accept the strong woman I've worked so hard to become.

What a great little story. I really enjoyed Bask and McKenna’s adventure. Well written and descriptive, it kept my interest for the entire time, from when Bask found McKenna floating in space, to their crash on his planet and subsequent reinstatement as the planet’s King. Well worth the read

Found By The Alien Fire Prince de Lindsey Devin serie Lost In The Stars libro 1

Argumento:

Me irritó tanto.

Loved it!

And just where was this little gem of a book hiding on its release day? I came across it thanks to Veronica Scott’s weekly Wednesday list of new releases.

I adored this book. It was fresh and exciting! Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the humor. (Especially where Bask gets introduced to a human mouth 🤓) Omg...the tension between McKenna and Bask was so palpable.

I see that book 2 is due out in April, so that makes me happy. Book 1 was definitely set up so the supporting characters could have stories of their own. I do wonder about Glib, though...that troublemaker 🙃

If you’re in the mood for something different, give this a go.

Loved it!

I loved it! However, what got me curious was the use of a stick where the world is frozen over.... and no trees... No explanation as to how it got there?

McKenna, an Earth scientist, is a feisty, sassy woman on an all-female ship that was fired on and crashes. McKenna has basically been hiding out from an abusive ex while she worked on board the ship in an effort to identify and resolve Earth reproductive issues. Bask, a banished alien prince of Phyrria, and his crew were able to rescue McKenna, and he feels a strong connection to her.

This was Bask’s first experience with a human and he becomes very protective. But with her past bad experience, McKenna will not allow a man to ever control her again and she is wary. She will surprise him if he thinks she is a helpless, fragile human. Maybe she can’t summon fire to her fingertips as he can, but she has an inner strength that will surprise him. And if he wants her to be his mate, he will have to accept the strong woman she has worked so hard to become. Will he show her the respect she needs from him? Will he prove that he is the one she needs in her life?

This was a good story line with characters who were able to adjust to each other’s needs to make an effective team. McKenna needs to let him protect her as his nature demands. And he will learn that he can trust her to back him up and be a supportive partner. But will they be ready when her nasty ex, James, tracks her down and captures her, ready to control her life again? I somehow think the two of them can handle anything he may try to do. Grab your copy and find out what the future holds for them.

I loved this book. A first for me from this author but I will be looking for more. Bask is trying so hard to go against instincts and be better than the world he was born into. He sees a body out in the expanse of space, despite knowing the rules of no human contact, he still goes out of his ship to save them, not them, her. McKenna was escaping a controlling man on Earth, he had traced her to the ship she was on and not long after that the ship was damaged. She wakes up to Bask keeping her warm and sees red (pun intended). Believing him to be made of the same stuff she doesn't trust him, not even when he repeatedly saves her life. Slowly she starts to see him for who he is but the damage done by the man in her past makes her mistrustful of him. I love that you have both points of view so you can see what the basis for each culture is, why they are doing what they are doing and how it can all clash. Actions easily misunderstood.
I cannot wait to find out what has happened to the other women who were with McKenna, did they survive and what is their story

It’s an okay read

The book and romance are okay. Actually the female lead is irritating until the halfway point of the story. She has had an awful experience with her ex boyfriend and had to sneak off earth to get away from him. I get that part, but the way that she treats the lead male doesn’t equate. The male lead only tries to help and keep her warm due to ice cold planet. The female lead spends way too much time negating the male. At first it’s acceptable but after a while, it’s just irritating. At about 50 percent, she stops being mean and tries to understand the male’s culture and ways. There is a happy ending, so there’s that!

I liked the beginning of the book a lot but after the heroine wakes up on board of the H's ship, she becomes a very unlikable person, full of anger and blaming everyone for her situation (it's her coworkers/friends' fault that their ship got damaged, it's the H's fault for making her want him, etc., etc.) The H even says at one point that he wants to bed her but not mate/make her his wife because she's too angry. That's the impression and attitude she has during the first third of the book. I am shelving it as DNF for now as I can't stand the heroine.

DNF !
Omg. She s so stupid all the time. And she s supposed to be a space explorer/ medical expert ? She can't even handle vials nor manage first contact protocols.. The constant horniness irritated me alot, especially the accidental cause of it. She can't have a civil conversation like an adult. I expected from the synopsis a strong willed woman and intense conflict but this is cartoonish. And all the stupid decisions are because of the author's need to create obstacles, like the chemical attraction or the langage barrier. The latter had an available solution from the start, but was ingenered by the good guys. it's stupid to create circumstances similar to the usual alien abduction plots where the human is completely ignorant of space, while your main character is supposed to be a space traveller and a scientist ! I expected a woman champion for all women. Instead we have silent treatments worthy of kindergarden squabbles and missplaced anger. Hell. If someone wanted to make a parody of feminism, to mock all women who value equality, they d write this character to ridicule all of us. Contrary to the synopsis, this isn't about a woman rediscovering her strenght after escaping an abusive relationship. She s a silly stupid character, and the author uses the past abuse just as a crutch. They even fell into a planet where women warriors rebelled against patriarchy and became the villains. It's clear the author thinks patriarchy, women's sexual submission + male protectiveness and dominance are the natural state.

This ended up being a good story. I didn't like McKenna much after Bask saves her but she grew on me after learning her history.
After a biodisaster on Earth killed 90% of the men, a small group of women have taken to space to find new worlds and a way to fix reproduction problems. McKenna finds this the perfect opportunity to escape her abusive ex while trying to help humanity. The ship has an accident and she is ejected into space. Bask sees her floating and saves her. There is a no contact rule amongst the races because Earth is not yet technologically developed enough. He shouldn't have saved her when he realized she is human, but he couldn't help himself. There are a lot of misunderstandings but there is an intense attraction. They both have issues from their pasts. He rescues her numerous times. Can he save her when her ex finds her?

3.5 maybe closer to a 4 but the ending kind of crashed for me. I thought the wrap up was rushed with this society. They talk to this one elder lady for what amounts to days and are then ready to just throw out what/how they have been living for years. Maybe if we as readers were more involved with those conversations it would have felt more authentic BUT I think even then it would not. There was just too big of a leap from, enslave the men to lets take off all their collars and reinstate you as king. It was weird. the world layout was good the relationship wasn't bad, a little stagnant at times and repetitive but not anything extreme. We'll see where this author takes us I guess. 1st in series are hard to navigate both the world building as well as the smaller story of relationship so I am optimistic about the 2nd.

Confusing

I felt as if this story didn’t know what it wanted to be. McKenna is a scientist, but we don’t get much science stuff at all. She’s rescued by aliens but has no scientific interest in any of it.

Bask is an ousted King, banished by the females of his planet because all the males were too aggressive or something like that.

Very little in the book made sense to me. McKenna was pretty much a shrew from her rescue to the middle of the book. She was resentful of being saved without her permission. She wasn’t a strong female character, but stupid and entitled. I mostly liked Bask except for a few alphahole moments.

The plot made little sense. The world building made little sense. I spent most of the novel confused about either the characters thoughts and actions or the plot or both.

I did like the vadra and other animal creatures.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tale. Great characters and great story. This tells the tale of an alien and his crew; isolated and banished from his home planet. Bask is dreading making a delivery to said old home.
Also in space is an all female human crewed ship. On board is the scientist McKenna, hoping and praying her dominating and nasty X cannot trace her. Their ship is hit and possibly destroyed. You don't really know and have to hope any that survived will appear in future books. (I hope!)
She is rescued by Bask who feels a connection. He protects her and is drawn so much to this little human. She's feisty and when they can talk, their connection grows. There are hurdles to overcome, including that nasty X, but all ends well. A great afternoon read.

This is another great author I read this week. Saw the storyline on Booksprout and I like how the story sounded so I downloaded it. This is the first book that this author has written and I loved it. McKenna was an awesome character who is pretty sassy. Bask and his crew rescue McKenna after their ship is hit and crashes. This is Bask's first encounter with a human female. Their connection with each other grows when they can communicate. There is humor and steam. (Not just from his fingertips either). Can't wait to read the next book in this series. Catch her as she goes by

Bask sees a human girl floating in dark space. It looks as if she was ejected from a ship. So, Bask retived her and she was was so cold. Bask has a hot body and he uses his warmth to warm the human. But it is illegal to have Anything to do with humans. He should have let her freeze and float away in space. But he doesn't do that. And that is the beginning of the reconstruction of his home planet. They get shipwrecked on a frozen planet. His home planet that he was exiled from. You will be confused, laugh at them and enjoy the ending of this story.

I really loved this story and mind you this is so not my type of romance. Like I do not usually read sci-fi romance because I find space wait to complicated to read about for fun. But this book was really good and I fell in love with the characters.

The writing is not the best and there is some grammatical and word repetition, but the story and romance was so good that I didn't mind those things or correcting these errors in my head. It would have been a 5 stars read if not for the writing mistakes.

If you want to jump in in the sci-fi/romance genre I think this is a good place to start, it was for me.

I’ve been reading new authors lately and I came upon this one. I took a chance I would enjoy it and boy, what a read! Excellent plot development and characters just jumped from the pages into my heart! Bask is an exiled alien prince of Phyrria...McKenna is an earth scientist who is trying to solve earth’s reproductive issues as well as escaping an abusive ex. Fire literally manifested at their meeting and the steam seeps off the pages. I can’t wait to read about Vale with is next to be released. Great read. Grab some tea and enjoy this book. Best money spent for sure! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Mackenna goes on a mission to get away from her ex and find new species of plants that might survive on Earth. The ship malfunctions and floats until picked up by Bask and his crew of alien males. Their ship crashes and the two must join forces to stay alive. The characters grew a lot during this storyline and the romance was great. Enough surprises and twists to keep you entertained and wondering where it was going. Looking forward to the next storyline.

He is an exiled prince of his people and she is a human fertility scientist. Earth is under a no contact treaty, that he breaks to save her from dying when her ship collides with an astroid.
This is a human meets alien romance that has a great plot, fun characters and plenty of emotion and steam. it was a great read!

This book had a lot of action right from the start. This is the story of two people that do not understand each other but are still drawn to each other. Even with being in love they still have misunderstandings. There is a lot of action and danger in their lives. I am looking forward to reading more books from this author.

Nice idea, but badly executed

The book would have been better, if the heroine was not in the picture. First of all she did not let him finish his speech and constantly interrupts and run away so she will not deal and ask questions to get what is going on. second she does not know anything for their customs, etc, but continues with her stubbornness to expect everywhere works like Earth( which needs more detail )

Emotional turmoil

I am a little on the fence about this story. Mainly, because of the characters. I didn’t really feel like I was apart of the story. I didn’t feel the emotion that the characters felt because honestly the MC McKenna seemed self centered because of her ex. I get it but I didn’t feel anything except annoyance. However I did like them together. Like I said I’m on the fence.

Patra reads

Interesting combination of science and science fiction. Experiments being conducted in space by an all woman manned space craft is suddenly interrupted by a galactic meteor storm and the science officer, McKenna, is ejected from the ship into space where she is rescued by Bask, an alien prince exiled from his home planet. The story follows their lives to his home planet where their life together continues.

Hot mess

This book was annoying… first, the grammar and punctuation was completely off.

Spoilers….

Secondly,
The author made the Hero’s personality seem segmented. At first he was aware and conscious of his patriarch society and it’s errors. But then, he literally flips beliefs towards the end of the book and regresses in believing that way of living was better. It wasn’t cohesive in the slightest…

Anger then aww

I won't lie, the first 95 pages I kind of low key hated the heroine, but she finally won me over. It was worth the anger she instilled to see her open up & the feels exploded! So worth the angry start watching her trust & the hero was just mouth watering the whole time.

I liked this read although at first the h was a B!$ch and almost made me not want to continue I did like the story so I pushed through and I’m glad I did. It turned into a great read with some much needed humor in a few spots. I definitely would recommend it but do have patience at the beginning. I’m looking forward to Vale and Annie’s story

Good

First by this author, the heroine was a little annoying in the beginning. I understood why but I got tired of hearing about it. Bask was not like her boyfriend on earth. Wish I could say more but I don't want to spoil anything. 😉😉😉 Loved the hero. Looking forward to the next book In the series.
