Shanna Bell is a romance author who loves to write (and read) about sassy, strong women who can save themselves and men with a heart of gold. Wanderlust is her middle name, as she loves to travel and experience new cultures and foods. If you're into romantic suspense, happily ever afters, and some steam she´s got you covered. For updates on her series, you can join her newsletter or mail her. She loves hearing from her readers.
Chooses to listen to it because it was in a good length and a romance, was bit to tired to look for long so I picked this. And luckely enough I quite enjoyed the story. Not really a fan of the bad boy type but it was alright, liked the seriousness of the plot besides the romance
Fun and hot make a winning combination for me. This is the second novel by Shanna Bell I've read, and enjoyed, in her series of connected stand-alones.
It's so much funnier than I expected as the plot is a great comedy premise in itself without losing its edge. Mary's good heart leads her to protect, so she ends up accepting a crazy plan that ensures she can do that. It's the source of the laughs, the passion and the thrill.
There enters burly, growly Hector who fights that plan with all his mighty subborness until his desire for this woman crushes all his doubts. The process in itself is hilarious, with all the men in the security firm playing along in the charade until he relents and claims her. I loved the situations full of good banter and carefully laid traps to wake the jealous possessiveness in this beast of a man.
I also had a great time with Tommie, the happy and creative friend who has a crush on Achilles. Actually, the interaction with all the characters was really engaging and so much fun. Hector's friends are strong and good-natured, even dark Kristoff makes a very, very welcome appearance. I so wish to read a romance with him as the hero. Those two men turn not-so-friendly verbal combat into a feast of testosterone.
I enjoyed the relationship between Hector and Mary because not only their bedroom games are feisty and playfully hot, but also because he rediscovers his need for family connections and she dreams of real love for them.
I don't want to make this review too long, but I admit I liked so many things about this novel. Mary's inner dialogue, the good writing style, the fast pace with never a dull moment, the thrilling dangers. Hopefully, this series will keep popping up new romances :-D
Loved it. All the characters are great, I'm really going to miss reading about them. I hope at some point that the author writes a story with Kristoff has the main character, really love him.
this was a good story.. the characters were fun. it held my attention and kept me curious on what was next and i enjoyed the writing. i really enjoyed it
Good read. I liked it but it just has so many moments with Mary in peril. It was like a never ending soap opera at times. They get settled and then another blip in the plot. It got a tad tiring after awhile. The writing is good and Hector was interesting.
I loved book one, and book two was equally fantastic. Unlike Gio who was polished and proper, Hector was very rough around the edges both in attitude and appearance. None of that mattered to Mary. She was attracted to him almost at first sight. He shared the attraction like a moth to the flame, his dark to her light, nevertheless, he forced himself to stay away from her knowing they were a match destined to fail-too opposite to attract. When a sudden event leaves Mary needing help and looking for it from his friends and employees, Hector is forced to either step up or give her away for good.
This story had all the chemistry and heat of book one with a bit more edge. Mary is just as sweet as she was in the first story, but she also shows a spine of steel and no fear in asking for what she wants and needs. Hector was sexy and almost as over the top protective as Gio. I absolutely adored little Zoe and the sweetness she added to the story, and as with book one, the secondary characters were awesome. There are so many people I need stories for...Gio's brothers, Tess, Katya, Kristoff, Achilles, the twins... Enough characters to keep this series going for a while. I already have book three downloaded for tomorrow. All that said, this is a mafia related series with some very non-vanilla scenes and a good bit of violence, so check it out only if you're ready for a walk on the darker side of gray.
So this is a brand new author to me and I must say that I have really enjoyed these two books from her. They have a different spin to them than a lot of the same story lines we are in other books. She has you rooting for these characters and their HEA. I am looking forward to more from this author and the continuation of this series.
I just wanted to shake Hector in the beginning of this book but in the end I loved him. Also Kristoff, I CANNOT wait for his book along with his men. They added so much banter to this book. Mary and Hector finally found their happy ending but not after they had their ups and downs. Great read...again I am loving this series and hope we see the next book soon!!
This was even better than its predecessor. Mary was witty and smart, while Hector was sarcastic and funny. Loved the ultimate battle of wits using all matters of physical versus mental capacities. Action, drama, romance, comedy, with a few dark spots and hot sexy highlights. I can't decide who I love more: Tommie, Achilles, or the twins. I look forward to the next episode.
This book gets better and better, and is so far my favourite in the series. I do think you get a lot from reading these in order, but they could be read standalone. Look forward to the next book.
5 Stars for Hector and Mary. Just like the first book with Gio, Hector is the MAN. Now I have to wait for Kristofferson book the Gambler. Shannon your making all your readers wait too long. And there's many more books in you.
Okay I'm not exactly reading the stand alone in order. But I can t wait to read the rest of the guys stories. He was chosen by the only woman he wants. He is the beast. But she rules his heart. Great sorry.
Hector and Mary goes to show you opposites attract. Bad things keep happening to Mary that Hector must come to the rescue. Even tough guys fall in love.
I had the audiobook for The Leader, and I enjoyed it immensely. This is the second book in this series with Hector, his brother from another mother. Hector is loyal to a fault and will do anything for his family. Mary wants to be part of his family, but he's really stubborn. Lots of enjoyable moments including clothes shopping, "margaritas into mayhem" evenings, Star Wars and Darth Vader, water breaking and bratan. I absolutely love Kristoff and the twins as well.
I am wondering why the series is named bad romance.the romance is super hot .Mary is an amazing ,kind hearted woman.she is instantly attracted towards Hector n vice versa. Both don't act on it but circumstance put them in a fix.Hector doesn't know what hit him and he completely n irrevocably falls in love with Mary. Mary is so lovable. Both are ready to die for each other.the chemistry was out of the world. I so want to read Kristoff's and Angel and Damon story . Well done Ms Bell
🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧
Shana Bell - The Protector.
In this second installment of the bad romance series, Hector Diaz and Mary Rossi play the lead roles.
Hector is impressed by Mary from the moment he meets her. Unfortunately, nothing ever works out between him and the beautiful, sweet, and far-too-young Mary. After all, she's only 21, and he's 32, having seen and experienced a lot during his time in the Navy. He knows that in the real world, compared to the Disney film Beauty and the Beast, the Beast and the Beauty can't live happily ever after. And while he can't, he can ensure her safety. To keep his Beauty safe, he deals with a ghost from her past. When Mary asks if he'll temporarily marry her so she can get custody of Zoë, Hector declines, however, and promises to help her find a good temporary husband. There are plenty of single men working in his security company. However, it's hell for him to see Mary on a date with another man. Let alone being married to another man. He decides that no one, absolutely no one but himself, would marry Mary. There was already a mutual attraction, but the more time they spend together, the stronger their feelings grow. Hector discovers that behind his sweet beauty lies a kinky pussy between the sheets. Once Zoë is with them, he starts to fall more and more for not only his wife but also their daughter. They tell each other everything. It feels so good and so real for both of them. He decides to tell Mary that their marriage isn't fake and that he will never let her go. She belongs to him and Zoë, and no one else's. He can hardly believe that she agrees with him. Especially since he's told her all about the ghosts of his past. He truly never expected this domestic life to be his forte.
Although the Detta brothers have always been like family to him, he doesn't care for his family at all. For Mary, it's different. Family means everything to her. Now that he knows what it's like to have a family, he'll do anything to keep his girls safe. When a ghost from his past resurfaces, he gets help from an unexpected source: his half-brother, whom he can't stand. Everything seems under control, but then disaster strikes, and the threat of this ghost from his past poses a great risk. He must protect his girls, but is that possible without losing them?
I thought this was the best story yet. Hector is simply a dream man. He fights, literally and figuratively, for the people he loves. The story flows smoothly. I might even say, much too smoothly.
Please get a proper editor - far too many proof and edits - should have been a 5⭐️ I just found this author. This is the second book in this series. I enjoyed it as much as the first. There are many smaller stories within, keeping you interested and invested in the characters. I found it be a complicated and compelling read BUT my guess is this book is written by an author for whom English is a second language. There are many mistakes through this book which reallytook away from the read. I am granting the author 4 stars but this would have been a 5 star read and normally with this many mistakes I would give only 3 but I liked the book a great deal. Many of the mistakes are wrong words, added words and sentences which make no sense. The author shows an editor but without sounding too mean _ I would ask for my money back. I found a few in book 1 but no where near as many as book 2. It totally spoiled the read for me and when you pay good money and give your time to a book you shouldn’t have to deal with this frustration especially when there is an editor given acknowledgement in a book.
Mary was the sweet granddaughter of Mr. Rossi, but was she? When her grandfather dies she ended up living in a poor section of town and she was happy. She didn't need all the opulence and riches. She needed and wanted Hector though.
One night she got a call from a woman she friended and Mary took care of the woman's little sister that she couldn't care for because she was an addict. Mary called Hector for help.
Hector, the strong, grunting, hard and scarred man. He didn't have any right to pine over Mary, to think about her naked, to want to touch her and do so many things to her body. She was better than him and perfect. But when she turns the tables on him he goes willingly because what choice did he have but to make her his......until his past came to haunt him. He almost had everything he never believed he deserved.
After reading Jazzy & Gio’s story I wasn’t sure if the next one would be as good. I can honestly say that I was surprised to find myself loving Hector and Mary just as much. By the end of the book I found myself wanting more of their story. It was a well thought out storyline with amazing characters. I am so glad we get to see more of the characters from the first book and get to know them a little better. I can’t wait to see what the third book has in store for readers. Overall this is an amazing series and this author is quickly becoming a top favorite of mine. If you haven’t read her Bad Romance series yet then you are missing out!
Meh. It was 99p so I thought I’d give it a go. I did finish it and there were parts I liked. But the main issue I had with this book was that it was really vague at times and it always felt like the author should have written more to explain certain things. I’d be reading and then I’d be like “how did they suddenly get there?” Or “what just happened then, did I miss something?”. It happened multiple times in the book so I think it’s the authors “style” and I was not a fan.
Also, I really hate this front cover. It looks nothing like Hector at all. He’s meant to be huge and muscled and have tattoos. This guy looks thinner with stringey long hair.
Another winner by Shanna Bell!!! The Enforcer is the second book in the Bad Romance series and is the story of Hector and Mary. I absolutely loved this book!!!
The Enforcer is a fast paced, entertaining book that definitely keeps you on your toes. It’s filled with the perfect combination of angst, suspense, steamy sexual chemistry and as much as I couldn’t wait to get to the end, I didn’t want to let go of this couple. Hector and Mary’s relationship is solid, the story line/plot is concise and I really loved Mary’s inner dialogue. Although it’s part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone. I hope Shanna Bell continues to write more books for this series.
