From best friends, to high school sweethearts, to barely talking… He was a fool to let a near-crippling accident come between them, and now he's fighting to get her back. No matter the cost, a love like theirs deserves a second chance.
Brody Anderson and Star Corrigan made all the superlatives in their high school yearbook, right down to being voted the Most Romantic Couple. But life happened, tragedy struck, and they drifted apart. No, it’s actually worse than that. He allowed his pride to push her away.
Now that he’s back on his feet after the accident and his ranch is finally turning a profit, Brody can’t get Star out of his mind. More than anything, he wants her back. It won’t be easy convincing her to date him again, especially while running the new bed-and-breakfast on his ranch. Not to mention how much of his time his newfound cousin, Crew, is demanding these days after a few brushes with the law. Nor is he overly thrilled about Crew’s former prison buddy who’s been hanging around and the trouble he brings.
But it’s more than a matter of finding the perfect time and opportunity to romance Star. Will she ever be able to trust him again? Can he convince her he has what it takes to fight for their relationship this time around? Can he prove he's capable of loving her the way she’s never stopped hoping and dreaming of being loved someday?

A wonderful second chance romance. High school sweethearts broken apart come back together for a winding journey that brings them back together. Great characters, adventure, faith helping them through, humor and love!
Brody and Star's story is awesome! I loved the character development and the story line. Although Brody and Star had been in a relationship before, Brody was in a horrific accident and he pushed Star away so they eventually broke up for a long time. I loved seeing how powerful their love story was in getting back together. There is SO much going on at Brody's ranch/B&B and Star, an EMT, jumps right in to help him. There is danger, mystery and frustrations going on with secondary characters but we get to see the real personalities of Brody and Star shine through. Star was such a compassionate medical professional and Brody always had her back. Also, Brody was always ready to give people second chances and a leg up. I appreciated that about him. Just a lovely story all the way around!
A second chance at first love for Brody and Star, only this time they know they need to be honest with each other and communicate better if they are going to make it. The B&B is up and running but that doesn't mean the ranch is in the clear, danger lurks close by, Brody falls back on his faith to keep them safe but Star knows that sometimes action is needed to back up that faith! Brody and Star are a sweet couple, you are cheering for them from the moment Brody picks that phone up! This is a heartwrenching visit and we are left hanging a little on the outcome of Samson and Shay...but I am hoping we get more about them in book three, Shiloh's book. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Enjoyed Brody and Star's story. Star had loved Brody forever and thought they would marry one day. Brody was injured in a bull stampede and felt it was wrong to hitch Star to a cripple. After two years of hard work, Brody lost his cane and his dream of a life with Star grew. A gunshot, and pregnancy was just the thing to get her back in his life. What a ride, trucks playing chicken, gunfire next door, I did not want to stop reading. If you like clean, sweet, second chance stories with a bit of nail biting, you will like 'Best Friend Hero'. I highly recommend! I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.

Loved Brody and Star's story! Brody was badly hurt and the doctor's weren't sure he'd ever walk again. Star loved him, would take him any way she could get him, and was prepared for him to never walk again. She'd push him in his wheelchair wherever he needed to go. Brody pushed her away, as he felt like she was wanting him to stay in the chair, wouldn't let him pay for their dates, and was taking away what freedom he had. Star felt as if Brody was ready to be done with her, couldn't see that she wasn't supporting him. When he calls her out of the blue for help with an emergency, Star is there for him. When Brody explains how he felt, that he thought the break up was mutual, Star realizes that she did have a part in their break up. Is it too late for them to get back together? Brody has kept his strong faith in God, especially since he can walk. Can Star take a chance on both Brody and God??
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Best Friend Hero: Hometown Heroes A-Z by Jo Grafford is book 2 of Born in Texas. This is Brody and Star's story but has glimpses of others included. Brody in an acid dent that was bad . His ranch takes a big financial hit around the same time. Brody believes in miracles while Star tried be realistic. There are miscommunications and they break up but they still have feelings. They get a second chance . Jo Grafford happens to create an interesting second chance and developments to bring Brody and Star together. The story is well developed and pulls you in. I love the ranch and the secondary characters give hope for more stories . I so want to hear more about them and see what happens to the ranch. Jo Grafford has outdone herself with adventure, mystery and romance in this story.
This was part of a bundle I purchased called BORN IN TEXAS BOXED SET: Books 1-5.
Great dialogue and characters. No games played, everyone spoke their minds and were honest with each other.
Not everything is as it seems with the secondary characters. Just shows don't judge a book by its cover. I liked the twists that I didn't see coming.
I enjoyed this a little more than book 1, but both are great stories. Somewhat of a Christian story. It all depends how you look at things. One of the couples isn't married and she's pregnant.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, story about second chances, romantic and only kisses.
I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase, which I do recommend. (ljb)
A broken cowboy hero find love once again with his high school sweetheart.
Enjoyed being back with this author again. Brody and Star story was one of a second chance. Neither one thought they could be with each other. But God gave them a second chance. Their love rekindled. Both of them needed each other. They made a great team. Many lives were touched by their help. So good to be back with Matt and Bree. Hope they will be having a baby in the next book. Looking forward to Crew happily ever after. Also Matt brother Gabe. Hope their new friends get their happily ever after too.
A young farmer who had been injured in a stampede and spent a long time recovering and his sister who was a chef decide to turn their farm into a b& b made a successful go of it. Bree married a young man MattRomero and he became the farm manager . Brody the boss and his girlfriend STAR who was an EMT with the local fire department. They all are working together to make the farm a place where people can come and relax and recover. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Wonderful characters that feel like family. I enjoyed this story immensely. The love and compassion that was given freely to those most wouldn’t care about was enduring. The fact that faith and prayers moves mountains was shown through the story in everything Brody did. The romance a bonus along with all the fun things to do at the B and B. This is a great story with so much to love about it. It kept me pulled in excited to read the next book. Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Brody has his hands full getting his high school love, Star, back since he messed up their relationship when he has a military accident that almost changed his life drastically. His strange neighbors make life more complicated also. What is really happening over there? I enjoyed this story with its romance & intrigue. Ms. Grafford writes clean, interesting romance books I recommend. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary opinion.
Oh my, reconciliation, romance, humor, conflict and danger what more could a story have? Jo Grafford has put all of that plus hints of things to come in this book. I love Brody and Star. He has been through so much and still has his faith and sweetness. Love Star coming to realize that science and logic wasn’t enough. Can’t wait for Gabe and Shiloh’s story and I know somewhere there will be Shayley’s story.
Loved the book but just not convinced the title is really the right one for it!! This is a great little second chance romance but the couple really weren't best friends. I enjoyed meeting a few more new characters that weren't included in the first book in the series and am glad that one of them will be in the next book coming out in July! This book was a quick read without too much drama and with an inspirational message about miracles.
When Brody got seriously injured on the ranch and thought he would never walk without a cane or maybe end up in a wheelchair he rather ran off his serious girlfriend, Star. After he has some major strides in his life her and Stat meet up again. Will they actually be able to come clean to each other as to why they grew apart? Is there any hope that they figure out what’s going on the next door farm.
It was beautiful. The way they both understood they both screwed up and apologized for their mistakes. They still loved each other and wanted to be together so they fought for it and it worked. Star was so bad*ss, loved her, she did what she tought was right, no matter what. Brody grew since the accident and was an even better person that he was before. They loved each other so fearlessly and I was all here for it
Best Friend Hero is a beautiful heartwarming romantic suspense story. It expands on the characters introduced in Book 1, Accidental Hero. I really enjoy the plotline and dialogue in this book particularly. Grafford’s descriptive writing is her superpower. She fills her stories with descriptions of her scenes, characters and moments, which also brings skillful character development and great romance in her relationships.
Brody needs medical help on the farm. Star is someone he knows can help. Hoping his need for help, will also kickstart their old relationship. With a shooting victim, a sick pregnant neighbor, and a mysterious compound next door ,challenges galore. Drama, laughs ,concern and prayers answered. This story keeps your interest and desire to keep reading.
Brody and Star's story isn't one to be missed. I loved how they worked their way back to each other after a few years loving the other from a far. Again we are left with questions of the actual goings on of the neighbors. What happened to Sampson, did he pass or still in a coma?
Fun, entertaining & full of faith. A guy was able to walk after a crushing accident but he'd lost the love of his life. It's time to try to capture her heart. She was trained, skilled but had little faith. She trusted science but wasn't sure about God or faith. Together, they worked to make their community better.
Best Friend Hero has all the bells and whistles that a good romance can have. It also has fear from the group of people moved in next door. But, let's make the trouble at hand work to our favor. Brody's faith in God helped him when things were hard, and gave him a reason for giving thanks for the good in his life, especially Star.
I liked this second chance romance between Star and Brody. The characters are likeable and exciting things keep happening to keep you reading. I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy a good Christian romance. This whole series is well worth reading and it helps to read them in order.
Each character felt like a friend of mine. The author had a way to make each character real and alive and a personal friend. Just story didn't go quite the way I thought it would which is very good for me. It's about friendship believe in god and prayer. I look forward to reading the rest of this series
A beautifully written heartwarming story filled with positive messages as Brody and Star have a second chance relationship. Their positive attitude and love bring others into their circle with a chance for redemption leading to fulfilling lives. I recommend this book and this author.
I read this book for free and am providing my honest opinion.
Great second chance story. Brody and Star are an amazing couple that have been apart too long. I love how honest they are about why they were apart, how things went wrong. Lots of action happening between the Kanes and Andersons. Star is such a strong woman and isn’t afraid to go after what is necessary. I really enjoyed reading this book.
Torn apart by a near tragedy its time to make things right. Brody is ready to let Star know they belong back together. This story was about faith, second chances and helping people no matter the circumstances.
I really, really enjoyed reading this book! It is about a man who fought his way back from an accident that could have made him wheelchair bound for life, and the love of his life getting back together! I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance book!
Star loves Brody always has and then they broke up because of his accident. Brody has always wanted her back, can he get her back? They help out their neighbors along the way. Can they find their way back to each other. This is a fabulous story.
An accident and the possibility of never walking again seemed better without his girlfriend who might feel obligated to help. Two years later an accidental shooting brings them together again. Now they are in a better place to communicate.
This book has a little bit of everything. Laughter, love, good, strong, generous characters, a strong plot with clean romance and bit of suspense. Can't wait to see what's next!
