Owner of one and half cats (one three-legged cat with half a brain, makes for half a cat). I'd love to say they support me with my writing, but one normally sits on my lap whilst I'm writing and the other clambers across the keyboard far too often.

~I'd like to thank the author for sending me a free copy in exchange for my honest review!~ Wow... ok. How do I write a review on this without ANY spoilers?! XD Here it goes... This sequel hit me with a deep message. Well, two actually. 1- The grass ISN'T always greener on the other side 2-Never judge people based on their physical appearance. Following Zoe from before the first crash on, we can see how she's developing as a person through these challenging times, and becoming less of the person she was in the beginning (a brat, to put it bluntly XD). The plot twist in the middle of the book was interesting and unexpected. From this point forward is where most of the character development happened, and you'll learn a lot here too. Well written and faced paced, this thriller is a great read for all lovers of suspense and the unexpected! ~Full Review To Come~
I'm so excited as I think I'm the first person to review this book. I LOVED IT! It was even BETTER than the first book. The narrative was interesting and I felt immersed in the mind - and world - of Zoe, watching as her life transitioned and changed both externally and internally (no spoilers). There were ups and downs, surprises, and some of the questions I had after reading book one became more clear to me in book two, which was what I hoped for. And, as with the first book, Junction: Time's Ticking, I had to keep turning the pages to know what would happen next. The book is suspenseful, thrilling, gripping and has a strong coming-of-age aspect that I really enjoyed with the character, Zoe.
If you haven't read book one yet - HURRY UP - and then read book two and be ready for a roller-coaster ride.
Junction: Still Ticking is a sinuously penned thriller novel which managed to mess with screws of my brain. It is the sequel to Junction: Times Ticking and is the story of Zoe, the antagonist turned protagonist. Not going to lie, I rarely have had good experience with the retelling of books in a different POV. I generally find them tedious and redundant. However, I am pleasantly surprised that this was not the case in this particular novel.
In her fabulously penned sequel, Lizzie brings forth the story of Zoe, who we initially knew as a cunning, manipulative, conniving and selfish person. Lizzie brings to light the story of Zoe before and after the accident. It helps us understand who Zoe was and how she became that. Throughout the course of the novel, I was infuriated by Zoe. The very moment I started sympathizing with her, she did something that would make me want to stab her and get it over with.
I loved the fact that despite the timeline being similar, Lizzie has brought about a sequel which is relatively different from its predecessor. Despite my initial apprehension of Zoe, I could now understand why she was that way and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about her journey. 408 pages breezed by and before I knew it, I was at the end.
The writing style of the author was lucid and vivid. There were minor cussing splattered around different sections in the book. But then again, that is quite understandable given it was Zoe’s mind we were scraping. I adored the storyline and the pace was also perfect. The chapter division was also phenomenal. After every chapter, I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen next.
The characters were realistically penned and it wasn’t really difficult to connect with them. I liked how the author brought together the entire story and how she presented it. Also, I must admit, Lizzie is the cliffhanger queen. I already raked myself over hot coals waiting for the second installment, now I have to wait for the third book which comes out all the way in December. :(
[I WANT IT NOW, THOUGH!]
Anyway, in a nutshell, I would recommend this book for everyone who is looking to read an amazing thriller. Also, in case you haven’t read the first book, please do. This series is so worth it!
First off, this book would mean more if you first read Book One - which, of course, is the whole idea of a trilogy. But once you are familiar with the characters in Book One, Aisha, Zoe and the others like Tom, Steve, Luke, Pete, not forgetting the mysterious old woman, this second book, this is another cracking, can't-put-down must-read novel, which is all the more remarkable as it is just the second novel from L A Evans, Book One being her debut.
Book One tells the story of frumpy but kindly Aisha, and the remarkable things that happened to her after a near-fatal accident with a more glamorous, but unpleasant, self-centred Zoe. It tells the story from Aisha's point of view leaving the reader at the end on a cliff edge in a churchyard.
But this book redresses the balance. It tells the story from Zoe's point of view. Because of that, and because of Zoe's nature, readers ought to be advised that it deals with adult themes, and includes some strong language, so this book is an adult read. But the character development of Zoe necessitates this approach. In the first book, she appears secondary to Aisha. In this one she is centre stage, and, to be honest, steals the show. Throughout the book you can see that there is far more to Zoe than first met the eye in Book One.
Although "Junction:-Still ticking" is relating the same sequence of events that dovetail perfectly into the first book, you don't get the impression of repetition, so cleverly has Evans weaved the character of Zoe and told about events that the first book necessarily omitted because it dealt mostly with Aisha. Because of that, you come fresh to the story and eagerly await what happens next.
A clever literary trick L A Evans uses is to start both books off with almost identical scenes - the lead character in hospital, being operated on, yet semi-conscious of what is going on, Aisha in the first novel, Zoe in the second. But after that the stories diverge, unwind, and there are more twists and turns than a drunken rollercoaster. Some questions from Book One are answered, but equally many more are left hanging only to be resolved in the final book, "Junction:- Times Up" to be released in December 2021.
So this is another excellent read from this new author. I guess the real measure of how gripping a story is is whether or not you care about the next book. Frankly, from my point of view, I cannot wait until the final book is published to know what happens next.

What an amazing sequel!
Zoe Young can be described as selfish, controlling and a cheat, but what made her that way and what happened to her before and after the accident is the main focus of this book.
If someone can vouch for the amount of anger I felt towards Zoe, it's the author herself. She asked me to keep an open mind, because there are always two sides to every story. I was very nervous when I started this book and I still disliked Zoe for the first 100 pages. Then something changed. Initially I sympathized with her for everything she went through but at the back of my mind, I had this feeling that her actions couldn't be justified. Hurting innocent people just because you were hurt by someone else, is something I couldn't accept. Then Zoe started turning her life around. She'd been dealt shitty hands, but she tried to make the best of it, righting the wrongs wherever possible. I liked that she realised her mistakes and while she couldn't make amends to those she hurt, she began helping others in need. I loved reading about her journey. Usually I don't prefer redemption arcs because I've come across very few books that have managed to do it well, but I can say this was one of the best. The writing and pacing of the story is fabulous. It has a great flow that keeps you hooked and makes you eager to know what happens next. Towards the end I was actually worried for Zoe because she may have to suffer the consequences for someone else's crimes. I also hope Tom and Aisha find it in their hearts to forgive her. I experienced a number of emotions in a span of 6 hours. This book was one hell of a roller coaster ride and it ended on a cliffhanger. I had to take deep breaths to calm myself after that conclusion. I can't wait for the next one. I recommend this to all the people that enjoy thrillers. Don't miss out on this gem.
Just like the first book this one pulled me in right away. Still Ticking is full of unexpected twist and turns. Loved seeing the story through Zoe's eyes. The more you read the more you see that you can't judge by what you first see. Can't wait for the third book!
Ok so this is the author’s 2nd go at writing a novel (the sequel) and if you blink then I’m afraid you’ll miss her.
What an amazing story teller and in my opinion the cliffhanger queen, the Author let’s you get to the end of a chapter but has such a clever way of making you think “OMG I need to know what happened next”.
This journey follows Zoe the Antagonist (Becomes) protagonist. This story allows you to see how she became so angry and her selfishness towards other people but due to the side roads she was forced down, allows her reevaluate her self and how she treats others.
Due to some of the sensitive journeys Zoe went on, the Author handled them compassionately. Kudos to L.A.Evans
