‘बैरिकेड’ इन दिनों सबसे ज़्यादा चर्चित उपन्यास है, जिसने हिन्दी साहित्य में प्री-बुकिंग के सभी पुराने रिकॉर्ड तोड़ दिए हैं। बैरिकेड कहानी है भारत के मिडिल क्लास के सपनों की। अभिषेक सिंह ने बैरिकेड की कहानी कुछ ऐसी गढ़ी है, जिससे कि कथानक कई शहरों से होकर गुज़रता है। कहानी जैसे-जैसे आगे बढ़ती है, इलाहाबाद, सिवान, जौनपुर, बनारस, लखनऊ, दिल्ली और रायपुर सारे शहर एक-एक कर ज़िन्दा हो उठते हैं। “बी. एच. यू., बिरला और बवाल” से गुज़रते हुए पाठक रोमाँच के एक ऐसे सफ़र पर निकल चुका होता है, जहाँ से उसे वापस लौटने का मन ही नहीं करता। कहानी पानी की तरह बहती है और एक ऐसे सफ़र पर निकलती है, जिसमें प्यार, निराशा, भटकाव, दोस्ती, बेफ़िक्री, डर, साहस, रोमाँच, हँसी-ठिठोली, मस्ती, संघर्ष और सफ़तला के सारे रंग हैं। बैरिकेड कहानी है एक &

A book which disappoints
The book start with a strong premise, but loses the stream in the halfway. Author has tried to include all kind of spices in the book and most of them doesnt add to the main story. One of the forced inclusion is the whole Lokpal Agitation in Delhi and his role in the establishment of Aam Admi Party (the name is fictionalized in the book). The overall story of his delhi stay which comes toward the climax doesn't add up to the book, which promises a lot in the first half.
The sweet love story between Akshay and Chitranghna is good, but again it follows a typical hindi movie style trope in second half.
In the first half the character of Akshay, feels like that he is a person known to you, there is so much similarities in him. But as the book progresses suddenly he start turning into Salman khan type hero from a common man. The author seems lost in the second half and that makes the overall book a slugfest.
There are some really good chapters and some of the conversation reminds you of your people living in the neighborhood. I expected the character to grow from here and give more such dialogues but was highly disappointed. Some of the scene in the book, simply reinforces the stereotype of would be bride.
The sad part of reading the book it disappoints at neither being a love story nor being a story of police man, which it promises in the the start. Hence I would say its a book which disappoints.

एक सफल उपन्यास के लिए जितने प्रकार के विषय और मसाले हो सकते हैं, वो सभी इस एक पुस्तक में मिल जाएँगे। ऐसा प्रतीत होता है कि लेखक ने अपनी जीवनी लिखने का निर्णय तो किया, किन्तु उपन्यासों की ख्याति देख कर उस और मुड़ गए। और अनेक वास्तविक तथा काल्पनिक घटनाओं की खिचड़ी या भेल परोस दी।
ये पुस्तक एक ऐसे धारावाहिक के समान लगती है जिसमें मुख्य चरित्र के अतिरिक्त कुछ-कुछ दिनों में घटनाएँ, परिदृश्य और औचित्य परिवर्तित होते रहते हैं। केवल पाठक को रोमाञ्चित करने या मनोरंजन के उद्देश्य से लिखी गई इस पुस्तक में जिस प्रकार प्रथम दृश्य एवं नायक के परिवार को नेपथ्य में धकेला गया है वो असन्तोषजनक है।

Absolute cringe. I don’t even know where to start from, the language is utter garbage, the narrative is like one wannabe loafer in a paan store telling stories abt things he has no idea whatsoever.
Some loafers know what they are talking about and its fun to listen to them, this one is wannabe overall..
Cringe reels have better dialogues and narrative as compared to this absolute garbage!
