C.L. Cruz writes short, steamy romance with curvy girls and the men who love them. She is a single mom of two kids currently seeking her own happily ever after.
Tara has writer’s block and hoping that her move and new house on the beach will give her the inspiration she needs. Roan has been hired to help fix up the house on the beach recently purchased by an up and coming writer. At their first awkward meeting each feels the chemistry and knows that this could be so much more. An entertaining quick read with a great storyline. The characters are great together and are both in need of ‘a little fixing’. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A fantasy turned into reality, a love straight out of a book, and a life that is a dream come true.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! By the time you’ve figured out who is who and who to like and dislike, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter! Can’t say I didn’t warn you. (Believe me when I say you won’t put it down until the last page is read…you will find yourself getting upset cause someone called, texted or bothered you while reading this one, you will find yourself up at ungodly hours just to finish it knowing you have to be at work early (like 3am early) the very next day) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! Tara is a writer who is utterly amazing in her stories but real life now that’s another story. Tara moves to Spring, FL a run-down beach house to get some writing done and nurse a broken heart but mainly it is secluded, quiet and no one to bother her while she is writing. While out skinny-dipping Roan arrives to do some fixing on the beach house and upon seeing her thinks she drowning and goes in to rescue her just to discover she was out skinny dipping what an embarrassment…can you imagine? Well let’s say it will make a great conversation starter but needless to say it allowed the two of them to get to know each other better and it doesn’t help that he is sexy as all get out, loves his work and let’s not mention the intense chemistry pull happening between the two of the and the magnetic pull just won’t be ignored by either of them so they go with it learning that each of them wanted something more than just a fling, they wanted someone to see them really see them and will Tara finally get her story book ending?
"She's like a siren sent from the sea to lure me to my death."
Fixer Upper by C.L. Cruz is part of the multi-author It's Raining Men series. Each book I have read of this series I have absolutely loved and this one continues that unbeaten streak. This story is about Tara Tessener and Roan Waters. Tara is an author who has a very successful first book in a series of historical romances about Vikings. Based on that success she was offered a hefty advance for the next book and she knew exactly what she wanted to do with it. So she bought a beach house in Spring, Florida, the old Hackett place to be precise. The house needs a lot of work done to it, both inside and out, but Tara is more than happy as it is her own place and she is looking forward to becoming part of a community, making friends and hopefully getting over her writer's block. Roan is one of the many bachelors in Spring, Florida. He was born and raised in this small seaside town that he continues to call him home. Roan owns a construction and renovation company and loves what he does. So when he is hired by the new, but not met yet, woman who has just moved into the old Hackett house he is intrigued. But it is really his mother and her book club which are all a twitter as the new resident is not only a single woman but also an up and coming author. When Roan and Tara first meet it had me laughing so hard that I just can't spoil the scene for all the other readers. I really adored this story as Roan and Tara get to know each other and then how Tara kind of "plays" Roan to get him to make a move finally. He can't wait too long as the sharks, aka other single men in Spring, are circling Tara and ready to take a big bite. I really loved this very entertaining and amusing story. But I really fell in love with Roan and just might have myself a new book boyfriend. This is a DEFINITE RECOMMEND READ for me!!!
Tara and Roan are so perfect together, she’s a best selling author who buys a fixer upper, he’s a carpenter who is looking for the right woman to love. Their first meeting is cute and funny, Tara wakes up her first morning at her new beach house and decides to go for a swim. Being a secluded beach she rips off her nightgown and dives into the ocean, naked. Roan arrives early to start the renovations to Tara’s house, not finding her inside he heads out to her deck, there he catches a glimpse of someone floating in the water. Fearing the worst he rips off his shirt and jeans and dives in to save them. Tara doesn’t need saving and their first meeting could have been embarrassing, but they both have a good sense of humor about it. Roan’s a little slow making his move but once he does, he’s all in. They are sweet together with good chemistry. When making a surprise for her makes him late, she second guesses them as a couple, until she sees what he did for her. She’s so used to being disappointed by men he surprises her by being better than her fantasy characters. He apologizes for missing their date, she loves her surprise so much, she and jumps him. Their first time together is hot. Epilogue with I love yous and a proposal.
Loved that the characters felt like real people: “Roan?” I mumble, my eyes still mostly closed. “Yeah?” he asks. “You’re the best fantasy of them all.” He presses a kiss to my forehead and then whispers, “Oh, no, Tara, I’m the real deal.”

Tara is an author that has just moved to the beach and bought a fixer upper. This way she can enjoy the beach and fix the house up as she likes. She needed this as she had writers block. No matter how perfect he is, I am so done with men right now! Tara is a romance writer who lives an non romantic life. She just can't seem to get her happily ever after. Perhaps her book heroes set her standards too high. So, after yet another hump and dump, (yes, I came up with that. Don't judge I think it's catchy) she's off to lick her fresh wounds. She finds a nice little beach shack 8n Spring, Florida that looks perfect. It's a little no nothing town which will be a perfect place to write and relax and avoid men. Yeah, nope. Enter gorgeous, muscular, hot as hell Roan Waters, a contractor. But not just any contractor. This one loves beautiful, curvy, intelligent women and boy does Tara check off every one of those boxes with an exclamation mark. So, how is he going to prove to her he is the real deal? The answers are right at your fingertips. Yep, right in this book. All you have to do is...grab this book and read. Remember if you want to read a book you can't put down, you have to pick it up first.
Tara is an author tired of the cramped hurried life in the city. When she gets an deal on a new book series, she decides to buy her own place on the beach. She finds a great fixer upper and takes the plunge. Roan is the contractor Tara has hired to help get her beach house livable and how she wants it. Tara is gun shy when it comes to love. She is use to everyone leaving her. That is what she always expects. Can Roan convince her to stick around and let him love her?
Love, love, love, this story. It really resonated with me. Could be because the beach is my happy place but I think it has more to do with Cruz's ability to write relatable characters with depth and a story to tell. Either way, this is a great. It is light and fun and the perfect read for Spring or Summer.

This read was amazing! On the first page you can feel this is going to be a great read. Tara is moving into a fixer upper on the west coast. She is a writer and she needs to get her muse back. She is quirky, independent, single and just wants to enjoy her life and breath. Roan is a carpenter and has been hired by the realtor to do some fixing on the house. From the moment they are introduced they have an electricity, a magnetic chemistry, a sizzle. It gets better and better as you read the story. It’s a heartwarming, entertaining, romantic storyline. The characters are made for each other, they compliment each other. It is really so-o-o good!

OMG – love this fixer-upper! This is about Roan and Tara. Tara just moved into this fixer-upper, but it is all hers and right on the beach. The first thing to do after waking up on the floor is to empty the car, but she figures why not go skinny dipping instead which she doesn’t expect for the carpenter to shop up early anyways, well surprise surprise! Roan is happy that someone finally bought this place, but he also knows that this a single woman, and well those are in few pickings there, so he needs to make his move if she is the one. Well, she is and the short story takes off. I love these two and her personal story too.

Tara writes historical Viking romances and with money from her book, she buys a house on the beach close to Spring, Florida. Roan is a contractor that is going to work on her house. The first time they meet is in the water where she is floating and he thinks she is in trouble so he swims out to rescue her. The romance skyrockets shortly after that and they spend as much time together as they can. He seems to be her muse and can inspire her into writing quite often. Being alone for so long, she is fully engrained into his family and the town. Beautiful ending and the epilogues were terrific. Loved the bookshelf surprise.

I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. I thought that this was a really good book. Roan and Tara were great together. I thought that Roan and Tara's connection and chemistry was amazing! These two really hit it off when Tara moves into Spring. Roan and Tara are drawn together and they really don't fight their feelings. When a little issues arises, Roan does everything he can to try and make things right with Tara and show her what she really means to him. I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it and Ms C.L. as a great author.

The multi-author It's Raining Men series has been fabulous so far, and C.L. Cruz joining the party made my week! In Fixer Upper, romance writer Tara moves to Spring, Florida, into a house on the beach that needs a lot of work. Never having had a stable home growing up, she is looking for a place to finally put down some roots with the big advance she has received. Enter contractor Roan, a Spring native. Tara and Roan's meet-cute is hilariously awesome. They have instant chemistry and their story is sweet, steamy and highly entertaining!

I really liked this story. It was short but entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were easy to relate to and likable. Roan and Tara's first meeting was interesting and definitely unforgettable. Roan was sweet but also possessive and protective. He was thoughtful and a hard worker. Tara was funny, sweet but seemed a bit shy or unsure of herself with people. She was also talented and motivated to accomplish her dreams. Roan's assistance with her home was a big part of Tara getting to live her dream. I loved the surprise. I loved their happy ever after. I recommend reading this book.

This is a cute sweet fun romance between a romance writer and a carpenter. Tara buys an old abandoned house on the beach and plans to overhaul it and make it her forever house where she can have quiet to write her romance novels. Roan is the carpenter she hired before arriving to make the fixes to the house. When he arrives to meet her she is skinny dipping in the ocean and has not even unpacked her car. So starts the relationship between Tara and Roan. It is well written, has lots of humor and the characters are likeable, realistic and work well with each other and the plot. Nice short romance.

Tara is an romance writer who has just purchased a bare bones house by the ocean. The house is isolated and so she decides to go for a swim. Roan is a contractor who when driving to the house sees a woman in the surf and tries to save her!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this engaging, entertaining and compelling story. The characters are likeable, relatable and interesting to read. The story is well written, fast paced, with lots of chemistry and passion between the characters. Told from dual POVs reveals intimately their thoughts feelings and emotions as they explore their relationship. There's an epilogue and a HEA 💓
Tara is a writer who moves to a rundown beach house to write her latest book because she has writer’s block. In the morning she is happy to be there and decides to skinny dip but when Roan arrives there is an embarrassing situation where he thinks he is rescuing her. Before Tara moved in she hired Roan to fix up the house. After their awkward meeting they become friendly and she likes him because he is handsome, passionate about his work, and chivalrous. Roan is attracted to her and would like a relationship, not a fling. As they get to know each other will they grow closer and begin a relationship?
I enjoyed this short instalove story where Tara meets the man who is going to do the work on her fixer upper home. Roan is ready for a serious relationship but Tara had moved a lot as a child and never had any long term relationships but wrote about historical romance. It was a fun story to read and I enjoyed the epilogue. I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
8 books and counting. Lovely story. Roan is a workaholic and knows it. He takes pride in his work. Tara moved to this town to get a new start and boy did she get one. She is constantly waiting for something to go wrong in her relationships. It inevitably happens so she doesn’t want to be hurt by Roan. Therefore, she pushes him away. Will Tara learn to trust in Roan for her own HEA? Welcome to the beach.

This was such a great story! This book is all about Roan and Tara. Tara has just moved to Spring, Florida after the end of her engagement and Roan is the contractor hired to help her turn her new fixer upper into her forever home. They have quite the unique first meeting and both immediately felt a strong sense of attraction and comfort from each other. Roan was such a great book boyfriend! I cannot state how much I enjoyed this book. Definitely recommend!

What do you do when you move some place to lick your wounds and to try to move on? Yes, lets buy a place that needs fixing up that we need to have a hot Contractor come and nail more than just nails in the house. He is intent on nailing her as well. She don't think she can have a HEA after yet another relationship that went belly up. But with him there to work the house and also to work on her, will she be willing to let him nail the final nail into her heart?

Tara moves as far away from civilization as she can after the break up from her ex. Roan is the carpenter hired to fix up the cottage with the "good bones". After a lousy introduction as Roan arrives early, believes she is drowning and goes to save her as she is floating naked in the ocean. This book was a riot to read. Laughed through most of it. This author is one of the best for great short reads. Please give her a try.

Tara moves to Spring, Florida and buys a house that needs some work. It's a fixer upper but has great bones. She decides she has time to take a dip and heads to the beach. Roan, the contractor, sees her out in the water and thinks she needs help. These two are perfect for each other. They are both workaholics, Tara with her romance novels and Roan with his construction. Small town vib with an OTT Viking Warlord and his sexy writer. Sexy times. Such a fantastic read! I absolutely adored how Roan and Tara met! She just arrived at her new (to her) home the night before. She's a successful author. She bought the bungalow because she needed some peace, quiet and solitude to find her words and mend her heart. He's her contractor with his own renovation / construction company. Again, their meeting was absolutely classic and goes to prove what a great guy ge is. I adored this book! Ms. Cruz had delivered another fantastic story and great addition to this series!
Tara Tessner a new an up coming author decided to leave the big city and move to the small beach town community of Spring. She bought a cottage at the very end of the cove that needed fixed up. Her contractor, Roan Waters arrived the first morning to find her skinny dipping in the ocean, but he thought she was in trouble, so he swam out to save her. They became quick friends, and she started her next book with the hero based on him. This was an enjoyable story to read.

OFF THE MARKET 4 1/2 ⭐ What a wonderful quick feel good story! Over the top insta-love with a good dose of humor. The Hackett House has been sold after years of neglect... Tara has moved to Spring, Florida for a new start after great success with her Viking romance book. She lives her romantic dreams in her words, not so much in real life. Roan has been hired to repair the place. He finds Tara irresistitable. Can he convince her he's her perfect Viking lord?

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Tara and Roan. Tara is a writer and just bought a house on a beach that is in need of repair. Roan is a repairman and wants to settle down and have a family. When Roan sees Tara, he is attracted to her, but wants to get to know her first. Tara wasn't looking for romance, but she is developing feelings for Roan, but she wonders if she can trust his word. I really liked this book, i like how Roan and Tara met, i laughed out loud. I think Roan was a great guy and really cared for Tara, another great one.
Tara writes and wants to get away to live by the sea, so buys a small fixer upper and has Roan, a contractor in to make repairs. Their chemistry is off the charts, steamy, romantic and intimate. No drama as such, just a mild intensity that comes with new relationships. This was a sweet story about forgiving and opening up your heart to let good people in. Great book! This is an ARC and this is my honest review.
