Probably one of the better books about who, what, where, and how we became who we are, and evidence based information about our Creator, and intelligent design. Every one should read this book!

Author Information and Qualifications:
John Davis has both the scientific and theological backgrounds to evaluate God’s general and special revelation. He is a former JPL employee, RTB apologist, previous Presbyterian teacher, and a skeptics-forum instructor. His stated objective is to convince skeptics of God’s existence, encouraged and strengthened believers.

Summary:
Davis provides a scientific and evidence-based approach from a range of disciplines to give the reader a comprehensive perspective of the evidence that supports one’s faith in God. The book breaks down into three sections God’s existence, identity, and concluding with finding true fulfillment in the God who created you. He also provides a hefty appendix section with helpful documentation and resources.

In the sections on God’s existence, he covers the historical, scientific, and evidence for our existence and our loving designer. Next, he sorts through the logical and religious options for the creative designer of our universe. He also readdresses the historical, scientific, and aesthetics options for who that designer might be. He finishes by directing the reader to resources to strengthen their faith in the God who created them.

Evaluation:
Davis provides a considerable amount of systematic data and historical evidence, supporting his witty yet unambiguous conclusions. Agnostics, atheists, and non-Christians can evaluate Davis’s reasoning to see if they are justified. Christians should use his inferences to hone their arguments for why they believe and hope in God’s promises. The evidence-based approach is the strength of Davis’s argument. Use it to bolster your testimony. I believe Davis’s hope for this book is improving our witness about the God who created us.

Full discloser, theologically, I hold to a Calvinist view on salvation and God’s sovereignty. Nevertheless, Davis has great respect for God’s sovereignty over His creation. He also reflects the idea that the Holy Spirit is doing the calling. He feels that we must accept or reject that calling. The book can be a little tedious with all the supporting material but use it for a quick review of the evidence for why you believe or should believe in your creator. It is this supporting material that achieves Davis’s goal for the book.

Recommend:
I would recommend Davis’s book to those who are doubting or confused by the myriad of opinion-based fabrications of the evidence for the Designer and Creator of this universe. Also, for any believer who wants to improve their witnessing skills.
