‘We’re from KMW. Do exactly as you’re told and you won’t get hurt...'
Being grabbed off the street, blind folded, tied up and thrown into a van was not what Izzy expected to happen when she stepped out the door that morning. But when an accidental kidnapping at the hands of the sexy Ethan Chase and his 'Kidnap My Wife' sexual fantasy business leads to just that, Izzy seizes the chance to turn her misfortune into a brilliant new job opportunity…
Since then, life has been one big tangle of new client meetings, fake kidnapping pick-ups, and handling the temperamental, but drop dead gorgeous 'bad boy' Mr Chase. But, as liberating as being tied up in Ethan's life is, Izzy knows the time is fast approaching when she must make some decisions and take charge of her future. The only question is: will Ethan allow himself to be a part of it?

This started out so strong! Probably one of the funniest meet cutes and then as it progressed, it became more dramatic than the light, easy-breezy read that I was expecting.
But the writing's nice and I will read more by the author.
The genius idea behind Tied Up with Love was something that I've never come across before, and that in itself is pretty damn amazing, because I think by now, I must have read hundreds and hundreds of books, and skittered past tons of different plots and ideas. So, for me to find a book, even now, that is entirely different and unique to the others that I've read is just downright incredible, and very, very exciting! Amelia's creativity was completely let loose in this one, and it radiated through the words and the dialogue and her fantastic characters.
In a nutshell, Tied Up with Love focuses on Amelia's heroine Izzy. The story begins with just an average day for Izzy. Until, of course, a black van pulls up beside the pavement and she's bundled into the back of with no bloody clue about what's going on. Now, if that's not a way to begin a story, and to really hook your readers in, then I don't know what is. I think this opening took me by almost as much surprise as poor Izzy, and I knew from that moment on that I wouldn't be putting my Kindle down without a very good reason to. Little does Izzy know, she's been muddled up with someone else, but despite this hilarious turn of events, Izzy actually finds herself landing a job with KMW, something to keep her going until she jets off to Australia. To Izzy, this is the perfect set-up, but for the moody, grizzly but nevertheless insanely attractive Ethan Chase, not so perfect. As the story progresses, so does the fiery relationship between Izzy and Ethan, and it was gorgeously explosive!
Echoing Amelia's debut novel Beneath the Moon and the Stars, the author's descriptions and engaging, colourful characters are spot-on and so very enjoyable to read about. Might I mention incredibly easy to fall in love with, too? Izzy is hilarious, and ridiculously easy to take to, but also has this dynamite side to her personality that I just LOVED! She's not a woman to be messed about or told what to do, and this just made me love her all the more. Her smart-arse comebacks had me smirking, and at times laughing. The dynamic relationship between her and Ethan was exciting and thrilling to experience, even more so when the sexual chemistry slowly, tortuously began to heat up. Dayumn! These two, especially with the whole kinky 'KMW' business going on, I mean gah! There were moments of desperate squealing on my part where I was practically begging for them to kiss, because I just couldn't take it for a second longer! Ethan's character was the perfect opposite to this electricity between, just because he was so stony and moody at first. I love moody men though, so this wasn't a problem at all in my eyes. Ethan's reputation with women wasn't one of the best, I have to admit, but Izzy had this gorgeous ability to see through that, and also, as the story progressed, break through it, too. The two of them, together, rippled and worked so smoothly, it was like watching watercolour paint on the tip of a paintbrush being dipped into water. Of course, not only did Amelia Thorne treat us to Izzy and Ethan, but there were a whole cast of characters who made this gorgeous story what it was. There were the other members of 'KMW', one of them being Ethan's brother with a bit of hidden past. There was also Izzy's best-friend Becs, who was so down-to-earth and genuine, I immediately warmed to her. Just a whole group of fictional people who felt incredibly real and close to me by the end of the book. It was absolutely fantastic!
I cannot rate or recommend this book enough, I really can't. Amelia has seriously set the score endlessly high, and I'm already looking forward to her next release, whenever that may be. Romance, the sexy kinkery, the steamy moments, the back-chat and adventure. It all rolled into such a fabulous ending that struck this old romantic heart of mine again and again and again!
Becca's Books is rating Tied Up with Love by Amelia Thorne with FIVE SCRUMMY CUPCAKES! I just KNEW that this book would be worth the wait, and there is no doubt in my mind that her next one will be, too. Amelia, thank you so very much for inviting me along on the wonderful ride that is your blog tour, and I wish you the happiest publication day EVER. This, my dear readers, is the Valentine's Day read for YOU!
Yet another Holly Martin book that I've fallen in love with. With the amount of romance books I've read they can often be quite repetitive but this one stepped perfectly outside the box.
Izzy is taken by a kidnapper for a sexual kidnapping company (by accident) and ends up getting herself a job in the firm (an unusual plot compared to most romance reads). The ups and downs with her love interest Ethan were timed well and the scenes didn't feel drawn out. The pace worked very well and this is a novel that you could sit and finish in a day if you wanted to.
Overall a very enjoyable book and one I'd recommend.
I'm sorry, but what IS THIS? Did we all read the same book, guys?
I was genuinely so shocked at the amount of weird and problematic things one person managed to cram into a book.
1. Izzy gets mistaken for Ethan's company's consensual kidnapping client, which is already a hugely problematic mistake. They then proceed to handle this situation TERRIBLY. Imagine fucking up badly enough to kidnap a random woman, making her think she's going to be assaulted, and then somehow making it even worse when you try to apologise and make amends? And how COULD you even apologise for something like this? THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. We later find out that their company is going under, and honestly, good! I have nothing against the concept of this business, but this place is run by a quirky cast of incompetent buffoons and closet misogynists. One of them doesn't even show up to work and they just shrug and say, "Well, that's Jim for ya!".........................idk, I don't have a business degree but that sounds like pretty bad business to me
2. Izzy is, to put it mildly, an idiot. She gets offered financial compensation for the psychological trauma they caused her, and she asks them for A JOB. A. JOB????? YOU WANT TO WORK???? In this economy???? Because you don't want them to lose their dumb failing business? And she DOESN'T EVEN KNOW THESE PEOPLE! This naïve little bitch puts her blind trust in three men working for a sexual kidnapping company because she wants a job (only for FIVE WEEKS because she's going to Australia? Firstly, this plot is a mess, and secondly, OH MY GOD WHY WOULD YOU WANT A JOB FOR THE NEXT FIVE WEEKS WHEN YOU COULD NOT HAVE A JOB INSTEAD. YOU UNLOCKED THE RARE "GET MONEY WITHOUT WORKING" PATH AND YOU'RE GONNA LET AN OPPORTUNITY LIKE THIS PASS YOU BY????) and because she finds this random (very rude) man she just met hot???
3. After being hired, Izzy's business advice is for Ethan to fire his family (I mean, AGREED, but also one hell of a suggestion for a FAMILY BUSINESS) and let multiple couples have sex at the house at the same time..... you go, girlboss, way to use that business degree!! Let's save money with layoffs and questionable ethical practices!
4. Oh, this one...this one really gets me. Izzy's friend warns her that she's heard that Ethan's brother is a convicted (statutory, we later find out) rapist, to which Izzy basically responds, "he's so nice, he couldn't be a rapist" ........feminism is dead, Izzy singlehandedly killed it! He did turn out to be a decent person who just happened to date someone a few months younger than him when he was a teenager, and now they're married, but Izzy did not know this at the time. In fact, Izzy did not know anything about him at the time. You had ONE CONVERSATION and you're ready to throw down for this man? You hear he went to prison for rape and you pull the "my neighbour is a serial killer? oh but he's such an angel, he wouldn't hurt a fly!" card??? Has Izzy even got a business degree, or does her diploma just say "Certified Fool"?
5. Neither Izzy nor Ethan were fully fleshed out characters, and together they were just supremely annoying. Ethan is prone to angry outbursts and is wildly inconsistent with how he feels about Izzy. When they're together, they mostly just have sex and it's not even fun to read. Their relationship was so insta-lusty and boring. They work in a sexual kidnapping company! Why was the sex so vanilla! If you're gonna give me such a terrible hero and such a straw-for-brains heroine, at least make their sex life more exciting. No one even got properly tied up.
One star feels like a harsh rating, but unfortunately this book was just generally badly written and edited (commas? in my book? it's less likely than you think!). I can make some allowances for a wildly unbelievable and problematic plot and annoying characters, but I didn't enjoy any part of this story and I don't think it has any redeemable qualities.
A decade can make an enormous difference in what is acceptable in a romance novel; unfortunately, this one was dicey when I read it in 2016. The bottom line is that their meet cute should require a trigger warning, the H is a self-absorbed blob of manpain, and the h is a pick me of dubious intelligence. He ends up moving past his pain after he has rejected and humiliated her several times, and the reason he gives largely has to do with how good she is for him.
When Izzy is kidnapped in broad daylight, she has no idea that it will end up with her sweet-talking her way into a managerial job with a company that spices up couple’s sex lives with fake, erotic kidnappings. Life is also made easier with the fact that Izzy’s new boss Ethan is smoking hot but totally off limits.
This ended up being a really enjoyable read that I found hard to put down. This has all the elements of a typical chick lit book but also has a bit of sauciness and passionate sex without too much detail for those that don’t like erotica. I think this is the perfect kind of book for someone who may want to dabble in books that are more on the New Adult or Erotica genre scale but without diving in head first into the deep end.
There was a lot of chemistry in this book that made it very delicious to read, though there was so much back and forth between Izzy and Ethan at times, and stalling of their relationship it got a little bit annoying. I liked that there were some great side characters too, though I would have liked more than the one female character for Izzy instead of the one best friend she had.
Really recommend this for anyone looking for something light, enjoyable and a bit sexy!
*Book provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*
This is Amelia’s second book. I loved her first one Beneath the Moon and the Stars and I was really excited for this one and she did not disappoint me, quite the opposite, I FELL IN LOVE with this story on the first page.
The story starts with some action, which is great. I immediately felt part of this world and I wanted more. The accidental kidnapping not only introduces us to Izzy, but also Ethan, the main characters of this book. I liked Izzy from the start, she is strong, ambitious, clever, funny and much more. And Ethan, well one thing is clear from the start: He is HOT. However, he comes across grumpy and bossy, which is all part of the story of course. I got to like him really fast, because behind his behaviour, he showed his real face from time to time. He is very caring, emotional, sweet, sexy, passionate, strong… just wow!!! ;)
Izzy sees her chance for a job and stars working for Ethan’s “Kidnap My Wife” business. The chemistry and connection these two had from the start was incredible!!! Sparks were constantly flying between them, but why show it to the other person right?! The tension and attraction was feelable throughout the pages and described in the most detailed and passionate way, I loved it. We got to read from both their perspectives, which was a great change and it made their feelings really clear. I was waiting for something to happen between them and Amelia built up the tension in a genius way!!! These scenes were full of magic and passion.
Before Izzy knows it, she is falling for him. But he doesn’t do relationships and anyway… They both realise though, that they somehow cannot be without the other person, which evidentially leads to this question: the future! Izzy is ready to fight for it, but what about Ethan. It was very interesting discovering, why Ethan is the way he is, he went through a lot in his past and that’s why he doesn’t want more. He wants something better for her… Both their pasts have an influence on the person they are today, it’s now about to leave this behind and be ready for what’s ahead. Are they both ready to fight for what they want and can Izzy crack his shell?!
Their journey is full of twists and turns, but also very sweet and adorable moments. The way he acts when his mother turns up is amazing, or when he shows up at Izzy’s best friend’s wedding. Of course there are also misunderstandings, which kept the drama up. Both Izzy and Ethan felt a whole when they were not together, and I felt that too, I always wanted them to be together.
They had some passionate moments, which adds an additional level to this book, loved it. And the emotions are definitely not missing. I rarely felt closer to character’s in a book. Amelia’s waiting allows you to be a real part of the story. The storyline was wonderful to follow. The writing is very gripping, magical, passionate, vivid, spellbinding, emotional and authentic. A MUST READ!!!!
Thank you Amelia for writing another INCREDIBLE story – it’s an amazing story full of heart, passion, desire, love and feelings!!! You’re a genius!!!! I need more of your stories…
I loved every second of Tied Up With Love from the mistaken identity kidnapping at the start of the book, to Ethan Chase's pure sex appeal. This story talks a lot about the sexual fantasies of rescue and dominance, in a fake set up kidnapping setting, and offered interesting insights into a fantasy that has never crossed my mind. I raced through the pages as I was excited by what I was reading and loving the whole story. Ethan Chase was a fabulous male lead, a sexy bad boy who has hidden depths. I am so glad I finally picked this book on my kindle to read, as it was fantastic.
I was given an ecopy of this book as part of a blog tour organised by the author in exchange for an honest review which I'm more than happy to give.
I read the synopsis, was very intrigued and totally hooked by the absolutely gorgeous cover, what I wasn't expecting was the confusion I felt when right at the beginning of the book Izzy the main female character was abducted off the street by masked men - surely with a cover like that it couldn't be a thriller - could it?!
Luckily, it turns out she was abducted by mistake and even then it was all play-acting as part of the main, male character Ethan Chase's business 'Kidnap my Wife' - a business that kidnaps women, with their consent as part of a couple's fantasy, role playing.
Amelia has done it again, created characters that are engaging from the very beginning right up to the end. Ethan and Izzy sparking off each other - both strong and wilful, both having a history that has made them who they are. Ethan's initial arrogance thinking that the best way to tamper down any potential problems caused by the bodged kidnap is to throw money at Izzy as a way of compensation, ultimately hoping to keep her quiet. What he doesn't bargain for is Izzy - she'd recently lost her job and needs a temporary one until she heads to Australia, deciding that 'KMY' needs some organisation and she's just the women to do it - no hush money would be enough, it's a job or nothing.
Tied Up With Love was an addictive read, one minute I was laughing out loud, the next I was sitting back and watching the fireworks. The heat and sparks coming off both Ethan and Izzy was electric. The attraction was mutual but both have a history and neither is looking for love. 'Kidnap my Wife' is a family run business, Ethan employing two brothers and a cousin - they caused much of the mayhem, each kidnap resembling a Laurel & Hardy sketch. Izzy has so many skills and is such an asset, blending into the business like she'd always been there it was no wonder the boys felt threatened.
No matter how many times Izzy and Ethan tell each other they're not right for each other, they each have too much baggage you just know they're going to be drawn together again like magnets, the energy when they're in the same room is palpable. I kept wishing for a happy ending, time and time again thinking we were going to get one only for something to occur to change the field on the magnetic force - repelling each other again.
There are so many twists and turns, people and events that conspire to keep them apart as a couple but with each their friendship growing stronger. Time and time again they are there for each other supporting each other as friends, understanding each other but not able to give commitment to each other on a personal level. Through confidences shared they each know that at the end of the day, they have to let each other fly - each not wanting to be the one to hold the other back - the love and emotion pouring from the pages made for difficult reading - it's hard to read when you feel choked and your eyes are blurred with tears.
The job was only ever temporary for Izzy, she had plans to travel Australia - does she go or does she stay? You'll have to read the book and see for yourself. But, be prepared on the one hand to laugh out loud, snigger and sit with a stupid grin on your face. On the other to feel anger, rage and hurt and you'll more than probably cry too. In the end, when all the other characters move out of line, Ethan and Izzy are left with a choice, follow their heads or their hearts.
Hugest thanks to Amelia for a fantastic, book that I read in one sitting and have recommended to everyone who'll listen to me - I can't wait for the next!
In the opening to Tied Up with Love, I wondered whether Amelia Thorne had turned her hand to crime fiction when our main character, Izzy, is thrown into the back of a van and kidnapped. Even more so when the kidnappers discover she wasn't the intended target and have to decide whether to kill her or let her go. It is all however just a horrible mistake, the kidnappers work for Kidnap My Wife, a service that works pretty much like you are now thinking it does (with the agreement of husband and wife) and rather than kill Izzy, they take her to their boss which is where we and Izzy meet the formidable Ethan Chase. Izzy ends up using the situation to her advantage, by blackmailing her way into a job at KMW, and sets about making some much needed changes to the business.
I absolutely loved Izzy from the minute we met her and as we discover more about her, learning about a previous business she owned that some readers might just recognise. The opening of the book is very funny, giving us the first of many laugh out loud moments as we are introduced to the various larger than life characters that make up Chessingburyford (God that's a pain to get right) but it is of course Izzy and Ethan who are the stars of the show. To say they clash in the beginning would be an understatement, described as a bit of a womaniser (aren't they always) and gorgeous (of course) it was very easy to see the attraction between the pair to the point where I almost shared in their frustration as the novel progressed. Ahem.
I absolutely loved the idea for KMW and liked how Amelia managed to make a story that has been done countless times before seem fresh and original. The actual idea for the company isn't as seedy as it might first sound (though I did find myself hoping the company had a very good cleaner for the house where this all takes place, which thankfully they do)! It also makes for some fantastic scenes inside the house between Izzy and Ethan, honestly, you will howl with laughter. If you read this on public transport the funny looks will be more than worth it. Readers who might perhaps be put off by the idea of the book should know that there's so much more to it than that, it takes a lot to shock me so I didn't bat an eyelid, and I do love an author that isn't afraid to take risks.
Humour aside there is so much more to Ethan than the man we meet at the beginning of the book and readers will definitely fall for his charms, as the story progresses and secrets are revealed this is definitely a couple you will be able to root for. I had an idea of how the story would ultimately end, but no idea of the twists and hurdles Amelia would put in the way before the conclusion. A conclusion which I felt was a little bit rushed but still a satisfying one nonetheless. I did at times feel this book would have worked better on a grander scale, and I would have liked a couple more twists, but I did really enjoy the book and would love to read about Izzy and Ethan again. I have no hesitation in recommending Tied Up with Love, releasing Valentine's Day it is the perfect time to pick it up.
This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free for a Blog Tour in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Ok so firstly thank you to Amelia for letting me take part in this blog tour. Secondly I really hope that this review portrays just how much I LOVED this book.
Izzy is very strong and brave. She has had a lot of tough times recently and the last thing she needed was getting kidnapped. But she didn’t just lay there and take it. No, she fights for what, she believes to be, her life. She doesn’t act like a scared little girl. She kicks and she punches and she doesn’t give up. This is the sort of person Izzy is.
From the moment Ethan and Izzy meet there is this undeniable tension between them. They both feel it but they are too scared or too hurt to even think about what it means so they both try to ignore it. I loved the back and forth banter that they have when they are around each other.
Ethan like Izzy, hasn’t had the easiest of times. His whole life has been surrounded by rumours. Drug dealing, mafia, theaving. He also has a very bad reputation with women. However I think that Ethan is just a good man trying to stop himself from getting hurt again. He’s not sure he could stand the pain again so chooses not to feel.
I really loved Bex. She is a really good friend to Izzy and has been there for her through some tough times. She is also hilarious. Bex and Izzy’s conversations in the pub reminded me of my lunch times with the girls at work. It was easy girl conversation.
I have not laughed this much at a book in so long. Honestly, I was getting weird looks from people because I was laughing so much. There are so many many scenes that I loved in this book but one of my favourites is the scene in the Bridesmaid dress shop. I had tears of laughter.
If you only read one book this year then I would make it this book.
I look forward to reading Beneath the moon and stars and any future books from Amelia.
Tied Up With Love was a truly fun read and starts off with a great opening scene, with Izzy being grabbed by masked men, tied up and blind folded and shoved into the back of a van. She then quickly finds out that she has been accidentally kidnapped by a company called Kidnap My Wife; a sexual fantasy business likened to Fifty Shades of Grey. It is this kidnapping that brings the sexy and moody Ethan Chase into her life and after some negotiation, manages to secure herself a job at KMW. Now that Izzy is tied up in Ethan's life, she has some decisions to make, but will Ethan want to be a part of it.
I thought the storyline for Tied Up With Love was brilliant. I like how it took something from Fifty Shades of Grey, but without being just another story like it with the KMW business and being tied up. It made it more enjoyable, fun and unique.
There is very little that you cannot like about Izzy. She is a strong woman, who has not had it easy, but has managed to pick herself up again. She won't let anyone push her around, physically or otherwise. Ethan first comes across as arrogant, hot but arrogant. What I loved though was how there was more to him than meets the eye. There were really really funny scenes between Izzy and Ethan as well. Absolutely brilliant and not only this, you get both their perspectives which makes for even greater reading,
The tension between Ethan and Izzy is hot and at the same time frustrating. It is obvious that they both are incredibly attracted to each other, but they keep denying their feelings. There are points where you want to bang their heads together and make them get on with it!
As with Amelia's last book, she is not afraid to go against the grain and do something completely different and this is what makes her books so enjoyable.
An absolute treat of a book. I read it in one sitting and enjoyed every page. Amelia is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors with her original plots and sexy characters. In Tied Up with Love we meet Izzy, strong but a bit lost right now. I loved how she used all her strengths not only to land a job on Ethan's business but also to make it a real success. She was not afraid to speak up her mind and I instantly felt like she would be a great friend.
Ethan's business was certainly out of the ordinary. This and his family reputation made him the bad boy and womanizer no one is town wanted to be associated with. But as the story unfolds we get to know a new side of him that has nothing to do with his reputation and with his instant chemistry with Izzy, I found myself cheering for them from page one.
Tied Up with Love is a sexy fun story that will make you get lost on its pages. Original and unexpected, I cannot recommend this book enough. And let me tell you, Amelia's men are to die for. I am already looking forward to her next novel.
Reading this book was a week of my life I’m never going to get back. The characters are misogynistic, we’re presented with a very emotionally abusive relationship that we are supposed to swoon over, the characters are overly violent for no apparent reason, and to top it off there’s a load of last-minute details that are supposed to make the tenuous story make sense that feels like the author is trying to tie this awful book up in a neat little bow of ‘they all lived happily ever after’. The way Ethan treats women in general, and Izzy in particular, perpetuates the narrative that it’s okay for men to treat women this way; at one point Ethan says he doesn’t want Izzy to see her friends and this is portrayed as sweet & protective, even though this is big red flag towards domestic abuse. The abusive relationship between Ethan & Izzy is quite toxic and it certainly isn’t sweet, romantic or loving to treat people this way. I’ve read a couple of books by Holly Martin before but this will definitely be the last.
Another fabulously fun novel by Amelia Thorne. A 'Kidnap My Wife' agency? How does she come up with these things! And the amazing thing is: it actually works. Tied Up With Love had me laughing out loud, squealing with excitement and blushing fiercely. The story was captivating from - literally - the first page and I was oblivious to my surroundings for the entire read. The chemistry - in true Amelia Thorne style - is blazing hot, the characters deep and detailed, their relationships believable. And dead sexy. From the moment I started reading Tied Up With Love I couldn't put it down and I'm already looking forward to her next novel. The first thing I thought after finishing was "MORE!".
Tied Up With Love is a compelling, romantic read. Even though you have a good idea of where the story is going, Amelia Thorne surprises you with some unexpected twists along the way and you'll just want to read more. The title is very well chosen. The story is romantic without being too "cheesy" with some more "hot" scenes and a good dose of humor which makes it a very pleasant and fun, feel-good read.
Although I did enjoy some of this book, Ethan was far too volatile and angry, far too much of the time. I also hated the fact that he gagged her so he could apologise. I get that he tied her up (though normally this would be appalling), it’s their “thing”, but to take away her power of speech as well is beyond awful. I also found the sexism (only females were ever kidnapped or tied up) really off putting. I am normally a huge Holly Martin fan, but this one definitely wasn’t for me!
I loved this book from beginning to end! The constant tension between Izzy and Ethan was hot and palpable even on paper. Amelia Thorne is a master at switching between sexy and sensual and funny and entertaining.
I was constantly drawn back to this book and my hour long lunch breaks at work all of a sudden seemed to short.
Great. "Tied Up with Love" is this kind of book that you could sum up with "BLOODY BRILLIANT" and "Whatever you do, drop it, go and buy this book and thank me later!". Period. And that was my review, ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for your attention! OK, just kidding. Amelia's first book "Beneath the Moon and the Stars" has literally blew my mind away and so I was a little scared if her second book will live up to my expectations. But I needn't have to worry, as "Tied Up with Love" blew not only my mind away, but also my socks, knickers and whatever you wish. This book is a pure piece of art and after the words "The End" I was incredibly sad that there is no more pages to read.
Well, I have expected Amelia to write a steamy romance but that she had a hand in crime ? The very first scene, kidnapping a person? What the...? It was absolutely something that I have never come across in a book before! But what followed later is an absolute gem of a story, with incredible characters that have a life of their own (it looks like this. I'm not sure if Amelia wrote them or they wrote themselves) and fantabulous plot. And a dog named Psycho.
"Tied Up with Love" starts with the best opening scene I had a pleasure to come across in my books. Our main character Izzy is kidnapped, just like this, in the open, during the day, thrown into the back of the van, tied up (the title! "Tied Up with Love"! Got you!), with a bag on her head, hearing that their kidnappers are from KMW and should she follow their instructions, nothing will happen to her (I mean, what? Kidnapping? Can it go more ridiculous? Yes, it can!). Quickly it turns out that the kidnappers had the wrong woman and they consider if they should kill Izzy or not (at this point, I was already dancing on my toes, couldn't believe what I'm reading. Amelia? Crime? Murder? Go girl, go, give me MORE!). Fortunately, it soon shows up that it was one big misunderstanding and the kidnappers work for KMW = Kidnap My Wife, a service that... yes, kidnaps the wives! But everything is under control, the kidnapping is ordered by the husband and the wife knows about it, pah! So the guys take Izzy to their boss, Ethan Chase, and fast forward, after some black eyes and other small problems, Izzy finds herself working for Ethan. Yes. Well, she needs work. She needs money. And after physically ending her last job, the chances for her to find a new one are not too big. So she blackmails Ethan into giving her a job, simple as that, and very quickly starts to make some much needed changes into the business, with or without Ethan's approval. Usually without. Ethan grits his teeth, waiting for Izzy to take off soon to Australia, as she plans on travelling to Oz in six weeks time, I mean, how long is six weeks and how much can happen in only six weeks? Well, it is long, and well, much can happen. Especially as those two only play on their nerves. Or do they?
Ethan, so reluctant at the beginning to allow Izzy take matters in her hand and transform his, his brother's and cousin's company but when he finally sees sense and gives up, Izzy really brings a lot of great ideas that, as a follow - up , are going to bring much more money to KMWA and yes, this brings uu to Kidnap My Wife. You can at first think, ekhm, what is this about? Is Amelia now into some SM business or something, as it looks like such a kinky stuff? Well, no, as everything in this book she pulled this idea brilliantly off and there is nothing kinky to this.
As I have already mentioned, Izzy's kidnapping was the best opening scene I have ever come across, and I was hooked from start to the finish. I am not sure if I am going to see such a brilliant way to start a book soon, it was pure genius. It took me by surprise, as much as Izzy probably, and also the kidnappers themselves, and believe me, it was brilliant, but the rest of the book was brilliant as well.
Amelia Thorne, just like in her debut book, has written the most fantastic characters, characters that you immediately fell for, that you love, you cheer on them, and suddenly finds yourself shouting, punching the air, gritting teeth and in fact experiencing all emotions possible. It doesn't happen often but with this story it did indeed. I abso - bloody - lutely adored our Izzy. She was hilarious, our Izzy, and so easy to fall in love with, but she was not one to play games with, oh no! She was a dynamite with big mouth and you shouldn't mess about with her. Yes, she was a smart - arse and often wanted things to go as she wanted them to, but she was altogether a lovely, witty character with sharp as knife tongue and strong fist. I think that the more we get to know Izzy, the more we love her, as her life couldn't be described as a bed of roses and she must have fight hard to be where she is now. She never gave up and her glass was always half full. Ethan, oh my gosh, give me Ethan ANY TIME, this attractive, sexy, moody sex - God and his back massages! I have also problems with my back and I so knew what Izzy is feeling, and how much it HURTS, and oh my gee, I need Ethan and his hands next time when it happens again! Ethan, whose reputation was already shattered, perceived as a womaniser, and well, it was in fact true, what with his shag'em and leave'em bad boy attitude, but it didn't scare Izzy off, oh no, it made her more desperate to prove to other people that there is much more to Ethan than meets the eye - we learn that his past haunted him and was the reason why he didn't want to engage with a woman, why he didn't want any relationship. And there was an incredible, crackling, sizzling chemistry between them, it could electrocute you any moment in fact, and to put such feelings on the paper, to make them so palpable... Amazing, and hats off to Amelia. This (non)relationship between Izzy and Ethan progresses together with the story, and while Izzy was so honest about her feelings, there were moments I would preferably slap Ethan on his carved, hard backside, shake him, bang his head on the wall, tell Psycho to bite him really hard, only so that he makes up his mind and stop playing games with Izzy. Ethan! Behave! This relationship was so dynamic, you couldn't be sure what they are going to do or say next, if they're going to love each other or kill each other, such a bumpy road for them, but this made it all so much more believable. Even the fact Izzy fell for Ethan almost immediately, well, I do believe in love at first sight, why not. There was something between those two that just screamed: you two belong together. Even though Ethan was so moody at the beginning, and there was an air of mystery around him , his business and his family, I was just like Izzy and liked him from the word go. As much as Izzy and Ethan steal the show, there is a bunch of other significant characters in the story, and they couldn't be more vivid or believable and in the end I felt that all of them are my own best friends as well. Even the smallest scenes with them was so significant and even if the character was only a small part of the novel, they were all written with skills, warmth and love to them all. No matter if it was Gizmo with his past, Kyle or Jim, who all three help Ethan with the company and who all are the reason of many awkward scenes and laugh out loud moments, or Becs, Izzy's best friend telling everything as it was, they all belong to the story and make it an outstanding, exceptional read.
This book awoke all kind of emotions in me, any that you can imagine in fact. At first you could think, kidnapping agency, whaaaa? But believe me, it works! It works so much in this story, and it is probably Amelia only that could pull something like this off. This novel had me laughing out loud and also drop some tears, it had me punching the air or drop my shoulders in defeat, it had me also blushing, and it doesn't happen often. It was unputdownable and it is a reason of my sleepless nights, but it was worth, really.
This novel has it all. Larger than life characters with life of their own, fantastic descriptions, one - liners taking you by surprise and having you snorting with laughter, incredible, fresh plot and it's full of turns, twists and surprises. Amelia excelled herself writing this book and I absolutely can't wait to see what more she has in store for us. Reading her stories is time best spent and they will for sure left you feel so content and happy. I have thoroughly enjoyed the book, every word of it, and I am sure you are going to love it as much as I did. Highly recommended, please make sure you have your copy!
Thank you so much Amelia for inviting me to your fabulous Blog Tour and for letting me read this gem of a book!
This book has such a fun setup, I loved the company and Izzy shoehorning herself into the business was great, I enjoyed her grand plans for improvement. A lot of thought had been put into backstories for virtually everyone, even random supporting characters were given surprisingly detailed history. And I'm a sucker for a grump with a heart of gold, so the romance began very promisingly.
Unfortunately I had to go for two stars because I think I'll look back on this book more with frustration than fondness. So much plot is packed in to this book, there was almost like a romance plot point checklist being reviewed and checked off as we meandered to the end. We had dead spouses, emotionally abusive exes, scars, sassy best friends, family feuds, scary mothers, a slightly random statutory rape subplot, a never-ending supply of MEAN WOMEN that our blameless hero had shagged and left, ready to remind the heroine that he'd never settle down. Unfortunately, everything felt flimsy, because as soon as a plot point was teased it was addressed and resolved within a few pages, nothing achieved the depth that only time can create because we were in such a hurry to get to the next thing. I wanted a bit more will they/won't they, because when the couple gets together so early, you know there's going to be some repetitive breaking up/making up in the second half. And by Ethan's 85th freakout/break up of the novel, I was willing Izzy to dump him and go find someone who wasn't so wildly inconsistent.
There was clearly a lot of love going into this, and I did read until the end. I just wish this story had been afforded a bit more time and space to let the characters feel real and for the emotions to ring true.
I think I read somewhere that this was Holly Martin writing under a different name, and though I've seen some similarities (with how she writes her male leads), I did find Izzy interesting for the first parts before she completely gave in to the headache that was Ethan Chase.
1st star - after reading 4 books from this author, I've come to appreciate her vivid take on each of the books' setting; though Tied Up With Love didn't require much imagination in the sleepy town of Chessingburyford.
2nd star - another thing I've noticed is how our author writes her leads, and how I deserve a star for having put up with them for this long. Sadly, I've now decided to stay away from any of her works just to avoid the stretched-out drama.
3rd star - and have I mentioned that this book was unnecessarily long? I hated how Ethan kept going on about not wanting to hurt Izzy but then ends up hurting her anyway! Although this book still ends with a HEA, it still annoys me how Ethan can't seem to make up his mind despite how Izzy declares how sweet and in love with him she is. Izzy for her sake, started out as a strong character and I preferred her over the past two heroines I've encountered from this author, but there she goes falling in love with the H and she's left a sobbing, emotional wreck. Honestly, I wanted to drag out the grovelling Ethan had to do to win her over, but Izzy forgave him too easily (a similarity that sadly shows in the previous two heroines I've come across from this author)
This is a 5 star book, but unfortunately left me wanting so much more. It starts off with you being thrown straight in the deep end where Issy is in the wrong place at the right time she is thrown over a shoulder coming from behind and a bag pulled over her head. Issy is then driven to a farmhouse off the beaten track and tied up to a bed telling her her husband will be along in a moment, she has never heard of this person and is very confused.
After continued fighting off in the van, she now is worried for her life. It is then established they have collected the wrong person and are instructed to bring her back to the office of Kidnap Your Wife, genuine service husbands pay for. Upon meeting Ethan she is completely thrown as is drop dead gorgeous, instead of agreeing to compensation she talks herself into a job for 6 weeks taking the calls and looking after the diary although she ends up making a lot of enhancements to the business.
Slowly day by day they find there is an instant chemistry which both are fighting off for different reasons and this is where it all begins.
It is a totally hilariously funny book, with lovely heartbreaking and heartfelt moments. Lots of romantic scenes, my only grumble is it finished far too soon at 90% on kindle and remaining 10% assigned to 4 chapters of another book. I just felt there was a lot more to give in being able to give a more finalised state.

Tied Up With Love is the second novel from Amelia Thorne but the first I have read (shamefully Beneath the Moon and Stars is still waiting to be read on my Kindle) and it certainly lived up to all the wonderful things I have heard about Amelia's writing. Fresh, original, funny and a frightfully good read Tied Up With Love deserves all of your attention as in Izzy and Ethan, Amelia has created two wonderful characters who have you rooting for them from the start right through until the very last page. Amelia writes extremely well and just lets the story flow, you really get the feeling she enjoyed writing the story and was willing to just let the characters dictate where the story went as all their trials and tribulations just seemed naturally part of the plot and were not forced or boring to read about. In fact they are what made the story so riproaringly exciting and riveting. In fact I didn't want this to end and would love to read more about all the characters featured.
I knew from the very first page that I was going to love this book, you couldn't but fail to fall in love with the characters despite all their flaws and failings. This is what made them so real and easy to identify with. Nobody wants to read of perfect characters who easily achieve their hearts desire. A little heartbreak and hardship are what make for an enticing storyline. Plus the cover and title are just so apt. Normally I am left wondering what the title has actually got to do with the contents of the book but not in this case. Amelia couldn't have chosen a more fitting title as Tied Up With Love certainly was the right name for a book that had the reader tied up and entangled with the rollercoaster of emotions at play through out Izzy and Ethan's fabulously written story.
With one of the best opening scenes I have read in a long time Tied Up With Love begins with a bang as Izzy Franklin is kidnapped by the KMW (Kindnap My Wife) and bundled into a van where she is driven to Oakwood House. Izzy is just your normal single girl looking for a job so for this to happen and to be blindfolded and tied up her world is instantly turned upside down and cliche though it may sound her life changes forever but in a good way. She soon realises there has been a total and utter mistake as she was not the intended target and nor does she want to be as the company is run for couples to indulge their every day fantasies of being kidnapped and brought to a house where all their role play wishes come true. Izzy is not into this at all and before you go thinking this is all a bit too 'Fifty Shades' for me think again because it is so not. Quite frankly Fifty Shades was ridiculous and I barely made it to the halfway point in book one before giving up. Yes, there is plenty of sex mentioned throughout the book but it is not rammed down our throat and as explicit as in the aforementioned book and it did all add to the story as the relationship between Ethan and Izzy developed. When the company realise their error Ethan releases Izzy but not before something changes and a connection is established although he does his best to fight this.
Izzy offers to work for the company as her job search has been less than fruitful. Sure it is only for six weeks before she embarks upon the trip of a lifetime to Oz. But six weeks can be a long time in a book and alot can happen. Ethan is reluctant at first to have a woman involved in the type of company run by himself, brother and cousin but once he agrees Izzy sets about transforming the company as she can see there is room for improvement and expansion with the ultimate aim of making more money and running a successful company. There was no character that was dull or boring or who did not serve their purpose, normally I find there is always a character who plays no role or adds nothing to the story. But in this case be it Bex (Izzy's soon to be married best friend) or Gizmo, Kyle and Jim (who help run the company and provide plenty of laugh out loud moments) all help to make the story just that more real and entertaining.
Izzy falls for Ethan Chase after just one day and normally I would struggle to believe this could be the case in real life but here because the writing is so real, vivid, heartfelt and believable I even found myself falling just that little bit for Ethan. He was dark and brooding and had that air of mystery about him as events from the past still haunted him and affected how he dealt with situations and relationships in the present. But that made Izzy all the more want to break down his barriers and reveal his innermost thoughts and feelings. Ethan's policy towards women of 'shag them and then abandon them' could not really be the person he is beneath his so called tough exterior as men normally hide their innermost feelings for a very good reason.Izzy does her utmost best to discover the real Ethan but does not want to get hurt herself in the process and as we read of their journey together an awful lot becomes clear and the reader becomes more and more invested in the outcome for both of the main characters. I loved how Izzy didn't give up on Ethan as she could see he was a man who was capable of love and could offer much in a relationship. He believes he is not boyfriend material and that he doesn't treat women well but the reader knows there is alot more to Ethan than meets the eye. There are several things which conspire to keep Ethan and Izzy apart but that doesn't stop you wanting the pair to get it together and I loved them all the more for their attitudes and willingness to give everything a try. I thoroughly enjoyed this uplifting, inspiring, terrific story which gives us all hope in our quest to find the 'one' and I urge everyone to buy a copy of this as you won't be left disappointed instead immensely satisfied.
Amelia is clearly a talent to be reckoned with and hopefully there will be loads more books to come from this skilled, brilliant author who had me in the palm of her hands right from page one. Please hurry up and write the next book Amelia as your legions of fans will be patiently waiting. I meanwhile will rectify my error and have the luxury of reading Beneath the Moon and Stars.
If you have been following my reviews for a while, you will know that I have recently discovered Holly's books. Following the lovely series I read recently I am slowly working through the back catalogue - Tied Up With Love is the first book I have arrived at. I have picked this book based entirely on the fact that it was written by Holly - so I wasn't really sure what to expect.
This is another great book by Holly, I listened to this at every opportunity. There was a unique feel to the plot - whilst a romance it is quite out of the box. This was such an enjoyable read that took me by surprise. I would definitely recommend this book and Holly's writing in general.
This book was entirely unexpected from Holly Martin, completely different to anything I have read of hers before, and it was absolutely brilliant.
Izzie is minding her own business when she is suddenly grabbed, a bag put over her head and shoved into the back of a van. She has been kidnapped - the next words she hears are "We are from KMW, do as we say and you will not get hurt" - little does Izzie know that this is where the start of the rest of her life begins.
As soon as Izzie meets the handsome Ethan Chase, owner of KMW, she knows she should not develop feelings for him, that he is stubborn, unreasonable, a one woman a night man, yet she cannot help herself.
However this is not a problem because in 6 weeks she will be leaving for Australia and who knows if she will ever return - with her best friend moving to Canada, is there anything to keep her there?
This book is hilarious, plenty of laugh out loud moments with lots of romance and steamy moments thrown into the mix - I would not hesitate to recommend.
I absolutely loved this book, the idea/storyplot was such a unique one, not one I've come across in books before which is great.
I loved getting to know the characters, they each had their own style/personality. I also had a way soft spot for the pets Pete, Psycho & Fang, hard not to fall in love with them esp Psycho.
The story did make me giggle a fair few times, oh and it was a little cheesy in places but it all added to the enjoyment of the story I thought.
What I found most surprising about this story, was the level/detail of naughty sexy scenes throughout. Don't get me wrong I've no objection to detailed love scenes being included, but it's a first that I've come across them in Holly's books so it was a nice surprise and certainly added to the overall entertainment value.
As always looking forward to reading more books by Holly in the future.
Want a book to make you smile/laugh out loud/with a completely new storyline? Well then this is the book for you. I found the tale completely unique and loved the way the whole story developed. I really enjoy Holly's writing and this is one of her earlier books that I have only just discovered. I great book, wonderful characters with unusual back stories and a great deal of humour. I read it over two days as I was so drawn into the plot. Well written as ever from Holly with no pages of unneeded long descriptive text to bulk out the book. No violence or swearing so a great book to gift to a friend. I have enjoyed the last few hours finishing this book and on a rainy Sunday in London during the pandemic it has really cheered me up.
