Even before I started working as an entertainment lawyer for Wildcard Records, I knew my life was about to change.
That is, until I met David Lennan.
I began suppressing the overwhelming feelings developing inside me every time I saw him. Feelings I couldn’t explore so long as I walked the fine line remaining his boss.
My life was perfect – a perfect nightmare.
I took a leap of faith in myself and left — striking out on my own. It could be the best or worst idea of my life. But I was finally in control. And when David followed me, I put my proposal on the table.
I was still in charge of the show.
At least until the first time he kissed me good night.
Tracey Jerald knew she was meant to be a writer when she would re-write the ending of books in her head on her bike when she was a young girl growing up in southern Connecticut. It wasn’t long before she was typing alternate endings and extended epilogues “just for fun.” After college in Florida, where she obtained a degree in Criminal Justice swearing she saw things she’ll never quite believe and never entirely forget, Tracey traded the world of law and order for IT. Her work for a global internet startup transferred her to Northern Virginia where she met her husband in what many call their own happily ever after. They have one son. When she’s not busy with her family or writing, Tracey can be found in her home in north Florida drinking coffee, reading, training for a runDisney event, or feeding her addiction to HGTV. "Loved Carys and David's quick novella. This was a great insta-attraction workplace story with lots of steam. It is a story of accepting your past and vowing to come out the better for it. Tracey Jerald write stories with strong heroines and the men that aren't intimidated by them. Loved the Amaryllis breadcrumb.
""Our kiss is languid, tongues that twine our hearts tightly together mixed with the harsh, heated promise of passion. It’s apologies, promises, and vows, spoken in the true language before G*d confounded speech through the tower of Babel. It’s passion between two people who have touched each other intimately, who know down to their souls what lies beyond sex when love is involved."" ~ Carys"
I enjoyed this super short novella, but I want to say if this is your first book by this author don't give up on her because this one wasn't very developed. I actually read the 3rd book in this series first and was blown away by it, I hate to say it but if I'd read this one first I'm not sure I would have kept reading because I like a whole lot more character development and plot. Carys and David are in Perfect Composition (the third book) quite a bit, so I am happy I went back and read their beginning. It was sweet, hot and entertaining for sure but like I said a bit disapointing after reading PC.
Carys and David have an instant attraction to each other. One that they, unfortunately, have to ignore. Until Carys makes a life altering decision that sets them on a path they didn’t know they needed. Tracey Jerold did it again. This novella sucked me in and I couldn’t put it down. The story may be short, but the love is lifelong. Can’t wait for Ward’s book!
Perfect Proposal is the first installment in the Midas Series by Tracey Jerald. It is a heartfelt, emotional read that gives you all the feels. I love how strong and independent Carys is, and how David isn't intimidated by her take charge personality. What a fabulous start to a new series...I can't wait for what's next.
I found this to lack quite a bit for me. I liked the fact that the power dynamic was swapped, with the man being the paralegal and the woman the lawyer, but I was a bit thrown by everything else, including the inferiority complex and emasculation of the male character in a submissive work role being glossed over in one or two quick internalization sentences. The writing seemed disjointed, like a flashback with Carys' brother Ward in the middle of a sex scene, the physical book formatting was odd, and the plot and timelilne was confusing. I could see where the author was trying to go, but for me, it just didn't work. And that beginning with the Greek mythology was a bit of a stretch and had no correlation on the story, so I'm not sure why it was added other than to set up the rest of the "Midas" series.
This novella is book one of the Midas series and can be read as a standalone. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV. I received a paperback copy of this book in my bag at Indies Invade Philly, where I met the author. This is the first book I have read by her. This novella begins when Carys and David meet. Carys knows instantly that David id the one for her. Their story takes place through a series a flashbacks from present day, where there is some tension in their relationship, to how they came to be together in the present. This was a short read that I enjoyed. I understand that novella length books often don't carry the same character development that a full length novel does, however I liked the characters and their world. I look forward to reading more books by this author in the near future.

I love this woman! As in the author and the main character because they are both quite amazing at what they do!
I am a little sad that we don’t get the craziness that happened between Burke and Becks though! I feel like that could’ve been some funny stuff and also help in adding to the next books drama. Carys is quite the inspiring woman to do all she did and because of one thing! I love the glimpses of Angie and Ward but also Carys ex-boss!
This team is pretty awesome to read about and while it was shorter than I thought would happen it really sets the tone for book two. I loved the amount of passion you feel in this book even with the small amount to read. It’s not about the size of the book but about the quality of the book! Amazing! I can’t wait for more from this group!!
Carys Burke and David Lennan meet as Carys starts her new job as David’s boss. While Carys is instantly attracted to David, as a lawyer, she knows the no fraternization rule is iron clad and therefore she doesn’t act on her baser needs.
Three years later, Carys leaves her job to start her own entertainment law firm and drags David along as her most trusted assistant and lover.
The story started with a great premise, forbidden romance. Then the story skimmed over the obstacles facing Carys as she denied her attraction while suffering thru David’s man-whore ways.
The last few chapters throw in a lot of confusion, deception, a proposal, a wedding and finally a baby on the way. #forewordpr
Perfect Proposal is a short story that packs a big punch. Carys & David work together, so that strong chemistry they have from the moment they meet cannot be acted upon because of the rules. However, Carys ends up leaving the company which means they can explore that chemistry further. I didn't have one single complaint about either of them which is a rarity since someone (usually the hero) sets me off until I go on rants LOL! This is a sweet with heat story that I honestly didn't want to end, and I truly believe you'll feel the same since this author has never let me down with her talent for stories that draw me in completely! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Perfect Proposal is the first of Tracey Jerald’s newest series. This cute little novella is a quick steamy read. Carys is a lawyer and when she starts her new job at Wildcard Music she never expects to fall for her assistant. But as soon as David walks into her office her whole world changes. What do you do when you fall for someone you aren’t allowed to date? You switch jobs of course. Once these two allow themselves to indulge they just can’t get enough. And then David plans the perfect proposal, but things don’t always go as planned.
What a fun and sweet story! The only thing I need is more of it! I do love a short novella though and this one was so cute, and I love that its the start of a series. David and Carys had great chemistry that I would have loved to see a little more of, and for a novella this one did feel a bit rushed, but the story itself had a good balance and was well rounded. A short and sweet read about finding true love when you least expect it to hit you in the face, and taking a leap of faith to keep it. A great story if you love short novella's that are heartwarming, a little steamy and a lot swoony!
I want more!! Carys and David's story was fun! Carys is 100% a bad ass and she knows it. Her first meeting with David just illustrated what a bad ass she was and I love a strong woman. It was such a fun journey through their Valentine's Day gone wrong but oh so right. And for 56 pages long, Tracey packs in some super hot scenes. Spicy! I really wanted more and yet at the same time, I think a perfect story was told in such a short time, which to me, is the sign of a great author. Can't wait for the next one!
Perfect Proposal by Tracey Jerald is a stnad-alone romance novel. Carys is a successsful lawyer, starts new at Wildcard and meets her destiny. Daniel is her co-worker and their mutual attraction is high, but they're co-workers. Years later, she's made it and has her own business and Daniel follows. PP is a beautiful story, touching, well written and beautifully thought out and beautifully told. A great read, 4,5 stars.
This was a 4.5⭐️ read This was such a fun, sweet and sexy novella about insta love between David and Carys. That had some instant chemistry the minute they met but because of workplace rules couldn’t act on it. Then Carys quits and all bets are off. Wonderfully written, amazing characters. The love they had and the leap of faith it took for their HEA was amazing. My kind of office romance... must read.
I was given an ARC but voluntarily chose to review
If you have a romantic bone in you, you'll LOVE this short story. David Lennen is a gorgeous, smart, hard worker who just met his new boss. Carys Burke is the new Super lawyer just brought in. Upon meeting both Carys and David experience the same earth moving reaction. Their tortured feelings go unrequited until they go out on their own. Such a lovely story. Linda
Perfect Proposal is a fun and sexy novella. David and Carys meet at work and develop a work relationship, because there is no fraternizing in the workplace. Carys realizes she has feelings for David and when she takes another job as a lawyer, all bets are off. Since Perfect Proposal left me wanting more, fortunately, this is the start of a new series. I can’t wait for more.
Oh my this was so divine. I am a huge fan of Tracey’s work and I was excited to read this new book and wow! Carys is s a strong woman who knows what she wants but circumstances and policy get in the way until the path is clear and David the alpha comes to realise what he wants too. This novella just so good.
This might be a quick read but you are drawn in quickly and connect with Cary and David who have undeniable attraction the moment they meet. You see the changes they make so that them seeing each other is allowed instead of against the rules and then there is the proposal... well you gotta read it to see if it is perfect!!!
Perfect Proposal by Tracey Jerald is a quick, fun and flirty office romance. Carys is a lawyer at a new job and David is her smoking hot paralegal that is off limits due to the company’s no fraternization policy. The lengths these two go to in order to be together will leave you wanting more!!
This was such a sweet short story. The characters were likeable and seemed to enjoy one another as people. Being a bit forbidden in the beginning, I liked how things played out for them. They'd be a cute couple for a longer book for sure.I think there is lot to explore between them.
I loved the continuation we got of Carys and David. Loved them when i first read them and this slightly extended short story was beautifully written and finished. I really enjoyed how Carys was with David. 🥰
A short an easy read. This has a great storyline, I love a book with a strong female MC.
There's an instant attraction the first time they meet but the company's anti-fraternisation policy means both have to desire the other in secret. Until it becomes too much.
Just because this is a short story doesn’t mean it doesn’t pack a punch! This story has as much heart and feels as this authors full length stories. If you are looking for a quick but amazing read then be sure to read this one. You will be pulled in and you won’t be able to put it down!
