Danielle Pays writes romantic suspense with twists and a hint of humor. When not trying to write her characters into some kind of trouble, she can be found chasing her dog or annoying her kids. Unless the sun is out. She lives in the Pacific Northwest and if the sun comes out, it is a requirement to go outside before it hides again.
Betrayal, Choices, Redemption โฆ how far will a woman scorned go?
Infidelity, infidelity, infidelity โฆ. some real, some not, some sabotage โฆ but which is which? And how far will a woman scorned go? As we walk through the lives of the townsfolk of Fisher Springs, we find a LOT of people suffer for choices made by a few. Agree or disagree with their decisions, this book will draw you in to want to know what really happened and who is behind it all. Or is there more than one?
๐^๐OBSERVATIONS:
First impressions are hard to overcome and my thoughts about Kate were not good. Yes, she might have been set up but her routine weekend โgirls nights outโ at bars is not what makes a strong marriage. I never saw her accept any blame for the role she played. With her partying ways, why would Wilder not believe what his eyes saw?
Wilder was the one really burned. Donโt blame him at all for reacting the way he did. He was a true hero, in more ways than one.
The losers in this story are both sets of parents. Their excuses were just that โฆ. excuses. Hard to believe Wilder or Kate turned out as good, upstanding people. I would have loved to see these parents held accountable for their horrid choices.
Is an open marriage deemed infidelity or is it just secret affairs that determine the act? Whatever happened to those vows taken when they said I Do?
If Fisher Springs is so small, why need hotel space for guests? Wouldnโt people just stay in their homes to attend a local wedding? We donโt meet many people living โfar awayโ.

I received an advance copy of this book and am leaving my personal thoughts and opinions.
This is book four in the Dare to Surrender series. Fisher Spring is a small town with characters that really bring it to life. This is Kate and Wilder's story. Ten years ago, they were happily married until one night Wilder comes home to find Kate passed out in their bed. She was not alone. Now he returns to his home town for his brother's wedding and to work a case that could prevent the town from being bombed on July 4th. Both Wilder and Kate have never really dated since they divorced as they still only love one another. Their hearts are badly broken but maybe a wedding and town threat could change it all. I enjoyed this story as I love reading the small town love stories. There is always a familiarity feel as some of the characters have known each other their whole lives but they can surprise you. This book has it all, heartbreak, steam, a little mystery/suspense and of course, a great HEA. I look forward to returning to Fisher Springs again when the next person gets bitten by the love bug. Enjoy!
The author has pulled us into the lives of the residents of Fisher Springs and we are happy to be there. Wilder left town ten years ago after catching his wife, Kate, in bed with another man. Now he is back and going undercover to try to save the town from destruction, but will he be able to save his heart from his ex?

For a small town Fisher Springs sure has a heck of a lot of crime! Good thing we have solid men like Wilder there to keep everyone safe! Although I wouldn't move to Fisher Springs given the crime rate I wouldn't mind meeting these hunky men for coffee some time!
This was a great story that had me hooked right from the start. The 2 story lines were intriguing and well played out. Although the vindictive streak in me would really like to see Martin get his!
Danielle writes a captivating and interesting story every time. She adds just enough plot twists to keep things interesting. Just when you think you have something figured out she pulls the rug out from under you.
A second chance for Kate and Wilder, after ten years apart , while Wilder worked undercover was not only intense but romantic. Danger, deception and with the people who sabotaged their marraige ten years ago trying to again gain attention, Kate and Wilder fight to rebuild their relationship. I received this book as an arc and voluntarily am submitting my review.
The book is a good, and enjoyable second chance romantic suspense read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry.

I count myself so lucky to be part of the ARC team for this great author. This is the 4th book in the Dare to Surrender series . Wilder and Kate haven't seen each other for 10 years after someone set Kate up to break the couple up. 10 years on and they are forced back together for Wilders brothers wedding and an undercover mission of Wilders to try and save the town from a gang of drug dealers. The book has all the great twists .turns and tension you expect from one of Danielle's books,as usual I could not put it down. All the characters from the other books make welcome appearances throughout the story. Do not want to leave any spoilers so suffice to say you don't want to miss this !!
Ten years after Detective Wilder Coleman left his wife, Kate, in Fisher Springs after being betrayed, he returns to the town undercover. He discovers that Kateโs infidelity may not be what it appeared to be. And she is not sure she can trust him. As he contemplates getting her back into his life, he is also actively investigating a threat to the town. Will he discover the truth about everything? Will he still want to make things right?
This is an amazing second chance romance. By and1515
Pride and missed understandings can torpedo any relationship especially when you leave and never look back. While she's the one left behind trying to piece her tattered life back together. However now he's back and like two super magnets there's an undeniable pull between them. Hopefully they can bury the past and see what they could have again.
Iโm doing my happy dance right now. Iโve been waiting for Kateโs story since the beginning of this series. Iโve loved her from the start and Iโm so ridiculous happy she got her HEA finally!! I swear this series just keeps getting better and better with each book. I canโt wait to see what Danielle has for us next!! You slay me babe!! ๐ค๐๐ฅ๐๐ค
Kate and Wilder were high school sweethearts.ย At age eighteen they got married and began working.ย When someone sets Kate up to look like she cheats on Wilder, he immediately leaves town and doesn't look back.ย Kate begs Wilder to stay and believe her that she did not cheat but he is so hurt and angry, he leaves without talking things out.ย Wilder moves away, changes his name and begins a new life.ย He eventually becomes a detective for the sheriff's department in his county.ย After ten years away, Wilder is needed to go undercover to expose a drug trafficking ring in his home town.ย He is tasked with going back to his hometown to help with his brother's wedding while undercover.ย The tension between Kate and Wilder is still there, tension from past hurts, unresolved issues and the sexual tension.ย With Kate and Wilder in charge of planning the bachelor/bachelorette party, the two must work together to pull off a great night allย while Wilder is trying to save the town from outside threats.
Wonderful small town, second chance, whodunit. Pays keeps you guessing right up to the end. My heart went out the young couple that probably married too young and didn't know how to communicate with one another.ย I can't say enough good about this book.ย It has wonderful main and supporting characters, lots of intrigue, action, laughter, and romance.ย I definitely recommend this book.ย

*spoilers* I always find it hard to read through heart breaking scenes. When Wilder thinks that Kate cheated on him. He left the small town without looking back. He used to work in construction and has become a detective, when he left, but only his brother knows. His old town is being threatened and he has to go undercover, to save the town from the bombs. Also his brother William is getting married. Wilder and Kate meet and realize the feelings are still there. None of them had had a serious relationship when they ended their marriage. Kate now is 31 years old and her own business is just getting started, besides working at the diner. But the one who enables her, does not really want her for business, he was the reason Wilder thought she cheated. Wilder finds out and wants Kate back, but also has his undercover mission and his brothers wupcoming wedding, where also Kate is deeply involved. Can Kate forgive Wilder for not believing her and hearing her side of the story ten years ago and open up her heart again? Who is selling the drugs in town? Also it is a rather long story I could hardly put it down, loved it. It was my first book from Danielle Pays, but I want more!

I voluntarily read an arc of this book and am leaving an honest review. This book is amazing! Itโs so full of deep emotions and intrigue I couldnโt put it down. I love the dynamic between Wilder (love that name) and Kate. Theyโre both so hurt and yet still have deep feelings for each other. Their chemistry is so hot!!! Theyโre over but when Wilder finds out the truth about the night he left, he is beside himself with remorse. Heโs lost 10 years with Kate, can he make it up to her? While back home โfor his brothers weddingโ, he tries to figure out the mystery heโs been sent to uncover. His brother is also a great character as are all the peripheral characters who Iโve read about before in the Dare to Surrender series. This author has a gift for weaving stories that keeps you involved and guessing. Thereโs more going on here than anyone can imagine, terrible secrets being hidden and hard truths that will be revealed. Dare to read this book, dare to wish for this couple and their HEA and Dare to Surrender to this amazing series.
First off, I have not read the three books before this one, and although it was not necessary, I think it would have helped to know the story of the other people mentioned. Aside from that though, the story of Kate and Wilder was hearth braking, hopefull, but also a bit annoying. Wilder is a detective that goes undercover in his hometown that he left ten years before because he caught his wife Kate cheating,at least that is what it looked like. Turns out things were not what they seemed but what made me angry was that he just walked away, not believing Kate who was supposed to be the love of his life. Kate stayed and never really got over Wilder or his lack of trust in her. Ten years laiter when he comes back, things get revieled that shows things were not what they looked like. What kept me from giving this story more than three stars was that for me, Wilder was not very good at doing his job as a detective and that made the story a little hard to believe.

My heart hurt so much for Kate and Wilder. At first my trust in Kate was instantly gone as fast as Wilder felt betrayed, but the more we learn I realized how much these two have missed out on. Kate deserved to be heard and not judged, but I think we have all felt like Wilder or know we can when our trust is tested, but to spend ten years apart? That is the true tragedy of it all. Wilder should have stayed and listened to his heart, but his head wouldnโt allow it so now how do they figure things out? Has too much time passed them by? Can Kate forgive Wilder for just giving up? Will Wilder stay and fight for their love? And Who is guilty of all this demise? This second chance romantic suspense was heartbreakingly beautiful, and I wanted to smack the crap out a few people like Kateโs parents, a few others, and sometimes the main characters to pull their heads out of their you know where. Overall a good read and a great second shot at love!!
Wilderโs return to his hometown is twofold as not only is he there for his brotherโs wedding but because of his career as a detective he is working undercover to investigate criminal activity that could hurt those he cares about the most. He knew that avoiding his ex-wife wouldnโt be impossible but he wasnโt prepared for the chemistry and connection between them to be stronger than ever.
Although itโs been a decade Kate was devastated when Wilder left town. She accepted that the situation was difficult but the fact that he cared so little that he was prepared to walk away rather than trying to work through it was what hurt the most. As secrets are revealed will this be their second chance or are they destined for heartbreak once again?
Although they loved each other deeply Kate and Wilder were unprepared to handle the fallout when their marriage was challenged but years later with understanding and maturity they right the wrongs of the past.
Kate and Wilder had been married until a situation occurred that separated them for ten years. She still lived in town but her lived and hour away and had become a detective. Going undercover for a drug ring back in his hometown, Kate and Wilder are reconnected. The wedding of his brother was the perfect reason to show up again. Loved the friends they made and how varied all the occupations were, especially Jesse, who was an FBI agent before and still had some great connections. The characters have a slow road back to finding themselves and the small town atmosphere where everyone knows everything does not help. The storyline is action, drama, romance, fun banter, suspense and more. Loved the wedding of the brother where they decided big was bad and Las Vegas fast was still good for a repeat.

Trusting Her Hero is one of those stories that when you pick it up, you are suddenly swoop into a world of lies, deceit, pain, broken hearts, suspense, mystery and second chances. There was nobody else for Wilder than Kate, as high school sweethearts the easily move into marriage, but when Wilder is led to believe Kate is unfaithful, his world comes down around him.
Ten years later, Wilder, now undercover detective, has returned home to put an end to the drug trafficking and help with his brother's wedding. When he sees Kate again. Not only the pain and memories of the past comes rushing back but the feeling for her as they work together to pull off the bachelorette/ bachelor parties.
It is easy to find yourself lost in the pages and the words of the story are weaved to pull you in and keep you on the edge of your seat.

When Wilder Coleman came home after a poker game and found his wife, Kate Loprete in lingerie, in bed with a nude man they both loathed. Wilder believed his eyes, not Kateโs words, his anger carried him out of town to a new life where he even changed his last name. They both remained bitter and didnโt move on in the decade that passed. Wilderโs stunned when his County Sheriff boss sends him to his home town to stop a bombing because of his familiarity with the place and people plus his brother is getting marred there around the bombing date.
Back in town, Wilder learned heโd been too hasty with Kate and uttered the words she wanted to hear for so long, but she was in no mood to hear them. Now heโs out of time, itโs b-day and as hard as heโs been working it, Wilder hasnโt made progress with Kate or his assignment. And he canโt find Kate anywhere. Rating: 4.25stars
This was such a good book, it had it all. Betrayal, misunderstanding, love, hate, chemistry and romance. It had a little bit of everything. Ten years after Wilder left his wife in Fisher Springs after being betrayed, he returns to go undercover. It isn't long before he finds out, when it comes to his ex, Kate, it isn't all what it appeared to be. While he is trying to win back into her good graces, he is also investigating a threat to the town. Will Wilder and Kate be able to move past what happened a decade ago and learn to fully trust again? Will Wilder find what he is looking for and stop the threat to the town? Read it to find out, I promise it will be worth it!
I received an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
Kate and Wilder had malevolent interferences on their marriage 10 years before that made them divorce, however they weren't without blame with the lack of trust on each other and their love and with Kate's partying ways. Ten years later the love is still there, and the jealous malevolent people are still not wanting them together...will they succeed again or will Kate and Wilder finally have their HEA? This story in the series is linked with the characters and plots from the previous stories in this series so it will be better if you read the first 3 books. I enjoyed this story very much and I am loving the series, just waiting for te next book now.

Overcoming their past to have a future....maybe if they survive the present
Trusting Her Hero is the fourth and final book in the Dare to Surrender series and is the story of Kate Loprete andx Wilder Coleman. They are ex's who have a complicated history and an even more complicated and potentially explosive and deadly present. I really enjoyed this story of Kate and Wilder as it wonderfully weaves together their history, the present, previous characters from the series, along with love, romance, suspense, danger, and some smexy passion.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Trusting Her Hero By Danielle Pays Main Characters: Kate and Wilder I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars This is book four in the Dare to Surrender series. I really liked Wilder's character but Kate's not so much. First impressions are hard for me to change. She seemed too much like a partier girl when she was 1st married. This book has mystery, heartache, and of course steamy chemistry. It is a contemporary, small town, second chance romance with a HEA ending.
10 years ago Wilder was betrayed by the one person he thought he could trust., his ex wife. Bow he us back in town in an undercover assignme t to find out who is wrecking havoc on Fisher Springs. Will he be able to get to the bottom of all of this? Will he be able to protect his heart from his ex? Will she entwined herself back in his life? Will he discover more truth than he realized was out there that will clear up many misunderstandings in his marriage? Great story with lots of mystery and intrigue.

Trusting Her Hero is the fourth book in the Dare to Surrender series and is a great second chance romantic suspense read. I really enjoyed this book. The characters are interesting and the story captured my interest from start to finish with danger, suspense, and a second chance for love. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
This was my first time reading this Author book. I really enjoyed this story. Wilder and Kate were so cute together. Even after being separated for 10 years because of a misunderstanding they still love each other.
