Moonbeam is a little bear who loves staring at the moon and considers Mr Moon his best friend. But then one night an eclipse, or a "new moon", has the Jones Farm engulfed in darkness, and Moonbeam needs his moon big-time, so next night he lassoes the moon by his moon butt and drags him inside for Moonbeam himself since Moonbeam is one fragile bear. Of course the other farm animals blame the lack of moonlight on Farmer Jones, but Jones decides to help the critters out by finding the stolen moon. And with help from glowworms and fireflies, he and his animal friends find Moonbeam Bear still clutching his moon in woeful fear of letting go. Then one of the animals tell him gently that others need the moon's light too, and if you truly love a friend, you set that friend free. Sweet and moving and very illuminating....like moonlight itself.

Waits loves the moon. He looks for it in the sky, day or night, and loves to flip through picture books trying to find it ("no moon, no moon, MOON!"). On the way home from Charleston last week, a beautiful, glimmering crescent moon followed us for the last two hours of the drive, and Waits kept me updated the entire time. "Moon! Moon!" [moon slips behind tree, or hill, or building ...] "Bye-bye, moon. All done, moon ..." [moon reappears] "MOON! Hi, moon!"

Needless to say, this book was a great hit. It's simple and sweet and evocative, with beautiful, rich illustrations.

Thanks, Uncle Jamin!

This is about bear that captures the moon and brings it in his house. Other animals notice the moon is gone and they go on a search and find it. The animals find the moon in Moonbear's house and have Moonbear put the moon back except for when Moonbear wants it to come down and visit. I didn't mind giving away the ending in this book because it just a very simple picture book for young kids. The pictures are very colorful and perfect for a bed time story. The pictures are warm and make you feel at peace.

Henry likes looking at the pictures of this one and pointing out the moon and other things. The story is a little to long for him right now so we just look at the pictures. I bought this one because he loves the moon. (20 mo)

Moonbeam bear loves the moon, it is his only friend, so he decides one day to steal the moon so it can be his friend always. The other animals are worried when the moon doesn't come out and the night is so dark, so they go looking for the moon. A really sweet story with beautiful pictures.
