Love's First Bite

I don’t need a man. I don’t need a pack. And I certainly don’t need a “mate”. So...what am I doing here?

Saffron
What do you do when a half naked man lands on your doorstep? Well in this instance, try to stop him from biting you I guess.
I live alone in the woods for a reason, so when Peter shows up, bloody and naked, he’s already more trouble than I need. Little did I know, this was just the beginning, and that some trouble can actually be a lot of fun.

Peter
I’ve always said I’d do anything for the pack. Anything for my family. But marrying a stranger when I know my mate is out there somewhere? Sorry, I’d rather die. And now that I’ve found Saffron, I have something worth dying for.

Love’s First Bite is paranormal wolf shifter novella with a strong, independent heroine and a guaranteed HEA.

Saffron was glad to get home to her cabin after driving to and from Edgeworth for a meeting. She let her werewolf senses breathe in the smells that were so familiar to her… until she scented something else that should not be there in her woods. It was the scent of another werewolf, but also the scent of blood and sweat. The werewolf was injured, and it was moving toward her. She had never seen another werewolf until this once burst out into the clearing, chest all clawed up, his wrist broken, blood dripping from his head. Most alarming of all, none of the wounds were healing! She grabbed him to help him inside, but her fingers tingled and something sparked. He acted like he knew her, but she would have remembered if they had met. He was upset, saying he tried to lead them away. Before he could even try to leave, she scented five werewolves, all male, coming through the woods. Then he desperately told her they were not after HIM – they were after HER!

The man held onto her. She wanted to get away to watch for the others to attack. But the man suddenly twisted her hand around and bit down deeply on her wrist! She hit his head wound to stop him, and he collapsed. It was not from her hitting his head wound, but from an orange tranquilizer dart sticking out of his back. What was going on here? Who were these people? And what did they want from her? And with no answers given, she felt a pain in her stomach and saw an orange tranquilizer dart sticking in her belly as she collapsed too.

Oh my, this book starts with a bang and the excitement continues nonstop. The characters are believable and we begin to learn about Saffron’s past which even she doesn’t know. The world-building is amazing and brings a sense of realism to the scene. Who are these men/werewolves? Why would they take Saffron captive when she had never mingled with her kind and had been hidden away in her cabin all her life? Grab your copy and look for the answers to understand what she will be facing.

Saffron’s mother was exiled from her pack so they lived alone. She didn’t know anything about werewolfs and their customs. One day a wounded wolf showed up at her place and bit her, then was kidnapped by his pack. Saffron had to be told everything, and was scared of completing the mate bond. But things worked out! Great book!

WOW!! So Good!!

Well written story and well developed characters! Saffron had been alone since her mother died and before that it was just the two of them. She preferred to be by herself. No one to tell her what to do. No pack politics. But someone was coming!

This may have been short but it felt like a complete story. I also thought it had kind of an interesting beginning.
