This version is a "Read-it! Readers Green Level" (level 5 of 6) of this classic story. If you're not familiar with stone soup, it's about a weary and hungry traveler who finds himself in a town where no one wants to share their food with him and he finds a clever way to get the townspeople to contribute food items and eventually ends up with a soup that is more than plenty to feed the entire town...including him! The story is made very basic here for beginner readers but not all is lost and children will be able to get a good understanding of the general ideas of the story.

Great story in an easy reader format. My new reader had no problem with any of the words and the pictures were alright (generally the early readers aren't the best illustrated, I find). I love being able to share this story with my preschooler since it shows how much can be done with cooperation and sharing.
