The Empires of Atlantis: The Origins of Ancient Civilizations and Mystery Traditions throughout the Ages

Rate this book
Establishes the historical and geological reality of Atlantis and reveals its continuing influence around the world

• Traces the course of Atlantean civilization through its three empires, as well as the colonies and outposts formed by its survivors in Egypt, Göbekli Tepe, India, Mesopotamia, the Mediterranean, and North and South America

• Shows how pyramids and other megalithic monuments testify to the survival of a “Sacred Science” of Atlantean origin and how this Sacred Science provided the foundation for esoteric traditions and secret societies throughout the ages

• Draws on more than 500 ancient and modern sources and the author’s own personal exploration of hundreds of archaeological sites

Exploring more than 100,000 years of Earth’s history, Marco Vigato combines recent discoveries in the the fields of archaeology, geology, anthropology, and genetics with the mystery teachings of antiquity to investigate the true origins of civilization. Establishing the historical and geological reality of Atlantis stretching all the way back to 432,000 BCE, he traces the course of Atlantean civilization through its three empires, revealing how civilization rose and fell several times over this lengthy span of time.

The author shows that Atlantis did not vanish “in one terrible day and night” but survived in a variety of different forms well into the historical era. He reveals how the the first Atlantean civilization lasted from 432,000 to 35,335 BCE, the second one from 21,142 to 10,961 BCE, and the third Atlantis civilization--the one celebrated by Plato--collapsed in 9600 BCE, after the Younger Dryas cataclysm. The author examines the role of Atlantean survivors in restarting civilization in different parts of the world, from Göbekli Tepe and Egypt to India, Mesopotamia, and the Americas. He personally documents their colonies and outposts around the globe, offering unique views of the colossal network of pyramids, earthen mounds, and other megalithic monuments they le behind. He shows how these monuments testify to the survival of a sacred science of Atlantean origin, and he documents the survival of the primeval Atlantean tradition through various secret societies into the modern era.

Drawing on more than 500 ancient and modern sources and sharing never-before-seen photographs from his own personal exploration of hundreds of archaeological sites around the world, Vigato shows not only that Atlantis was real but that the whole world is now being called to become a New Atlantis and awaken into a new golden age.

A Must Read for Fans of the Genre

This is one of the most concise, well written books I’ve ever read on the subject of Atlantis and the ancient mysteries. The way the author is able to connect all the dots of history and the geological record in a flowing chronological way is dazzling. For the amateur scholar of alternate history, you would be missing out if you missed this book. Can’t recommend it enough.

A well-written overview of the existing pseudoscientific literature. The theories presented, while fascinating in their implications, rely too heavily on unverifiable "evidence" and therefore lack credibility. Little to no effort is made in offering counter arguments. However, the weaving together of vastly disparate elements into an easily digestible and cohesive work should be commended.

Well researched and written, The Empires of Atlantis lays out a compelling case for the reality of the existence of Atlantis. In a rational, credible and interesting narrative, Mr. Vigato goes through the evidence step by step, making reasonable connections, not leaps of faith. He has the gift of presenting salient information that is neither so technical as to be abstruse nor so dumbed-down as to be insulting to the reader. He imparts a plethora of esoteric information in language that is understandable without getting bogged down in distracting minutia. It’s a non-fiction book that I hated to have end. I’m eager for his second book.

Whether you accept the premise or not, the book is worth the read.

This book earned my a five-star rating, which in my system means this is a book I will read more than once. It is shelved with my reference books.

Yet another con artist writing an Atlantis book. All of these seem to follow the same pattern of appeals to 19th century European hustlers & frauds. First off: what's the purpose of this book? Giving a litany of facts about archaeology serves no purpose, except to sell books, support their travels to archaeology sites (which are just curios for the elites), and promote podcasts & websites. Joe Rogan has heavily capitalized on all these nonsense by having lots of these Atlantis guys on.

What do they want people to do? Restart Atlantis? Change our current civilization? They never say, it's always just litanies of factoids & appeals to the usual con artists of the 19th/20th centuries (Theosophy, Rudolph Steiner, Edgar Cayce, etc.). They're never specific about how humans should be living, or why it's important to know about Atlantis. Unless of course you're willing to eat up the inspired nonsense of men like Steiner and Cayce, who were con artists of their day. The late 19th & early 20th centuries were fertile ground for con men, like all the treasure hunters & religious nuts of the burned-over district, leading to Mormonism, Adventists, Shakers, & Oneida, among other social utopian experiments.

It seems like these Atlantis books exist to prey upon ignorant & desperate masses of people who don't want to join a church & they feel the pointlessness of global industrial life. It's become an incredibly big industry in the past decades, not only including Atlantis, but things like healing crystals & other New Ager practices, such as endless health fads. Not to mention the juggernaut that is Yoga, Zen, & Mindfulness.

This book is especially bad, in that it heavily relies on nonsense such as "root races", which is just 19th century European elite nonsense. Nobody believed in root races prior to this & the whole thing is a recent invent of wealthy elites to scam people out of their money & to control people.

Inner Traditions is one of the biggest pushers of all kinds of elite nonsense, and I hope people stop giving them any money. Just because our system is bad now doesn't mean you need to throw your money at any con artist who is giving you an alternative.

a very well laid out theses regarding the whereabouts of Atlantis and the Atlantean civilization

It kept me interested and captivated from the very beginning.
The myth/history of Atlantis and the origins of Ancient pyramid builders has captivated my imagination and I find common elements that point in one direction, a common origin.
Mr. Vigato fills many of the missing pieces of this mosaic that forms our common past and origin.
Well constructed theses. He supports his conclusions with facts and data.
Worth reading and discussing.
Brings light and cohesion to our history and origin. And opens the floor for more conversations and speculations. Challenges our intelligence.

An exceptional exploration of this captivating topic. With its comprehensive distillation of information from various sources, this book stands out in the realm of Atlantean studies. The author expertly weaves together archaeological evidence, ancient texts, and geological data to present a cohesive narrative of the possible existence and influence of Atlantis on the development of human history. He skillfully brings together accounts from ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Mesoamerican sources, among others, painting a comprehensive picture of Atlantis as a global phenomenon rather than a localized myth. The synthesis of information from multiple sources is truly commendable, providing a holistic understanding of this enigmatic civilization. An indispensable library addition for anyone interested in Atlantis and ancient civilizations.

Vigato thoroughly examines both documented traditions surrounding Atlantis and geological/archaeological evidence, lays all the pieces side by side, and essentially develops a history of Atlantis, dating from antiquity to today. His approach is open-minded, seeking plausible connections of the many different pieces and theories, yet focused enough to develop a singular timeline. Click below for full review!

An engaging read into Atlantis, full of archaeological examples from around the world—like Egypt, Peru, and Indonesia, as well as how this civilization connected with each one. The book outlined multiple phases of Atlantis, tying them to real historical periods and global cataclysms. I appreciated how it challenged mainstream views of history. Many parts of this book were similar to what I’ve read before. But, anyone looking for information on Atlantean mysteries should read this. I especially loved the connection of the RH- blood type to the civilization!

Groundbreaking, extremely well-researched book into our true history! Vigato compiled the quintessential entry for any curious mind that hungers for anything and everything Atlantis. He truly leaves no stone unturned, and leaves little to no doubt that there once did exist a civilization whose memory and tragedy still lingers in the shadowy depths of our consciousness and planet today.

Very interesting. Great research from the author, that provides irrefutable proof that an ancient civilization actually lived long before what the world thinks, and historians say.

Same methods and patterns of construction, traditions, myths, monuments. All in different continents. Maybe history books should be written again.

Interesting use of ancient records and myths

What was most interesting about this book was the intentional use of ancient texts and mythos in combination with known archeological evidence to create a coherent history of Atlantis and it's cultural progeny.

Great overview. Lot of reference to esoteric traditions that I know little about, so the beginning was confusing. However, by the middle of the book it was much easier to read.
