Sad to say I put this episode off longer than normal because it is the last in a much loved series and it is difficult for me to see it conclude. I have eagerly listened to and awaited for each new edition since the very beginning. Mark Tufo hooked me into the zombie genre, and this series has been an amazing ride. Just thank you so much for the hours and hours and sheer bliss I have had listening to each and every one of these incredible episodes.

Hiraeth is chock-full of hilarity, suspense, action, and introspection - with quite the tear jerker of an ending.

So glad Mr. Tufo received that note of encouragement early on to continue his series - it sure made a wonderful difference in my life. Please keep 'em coming Mark.

Special thanks to Sean Runnette for the epic narration of all 16 of these incredible episodes. Your voice will always bring to mind many fond memories of Mike Talbot - no matter where I hear you.

I am so ready for this series to be made into a TV show. A series of movies would work for me too. PleasePleasePlease! All I've got left is Lycan Fallout, I hope it's as good as all the others as I'm a bit bereft that I'm running out of the Talbot Tales :(

I just don't want to believe it's done!

This.was one of the first zombie apocalypse books I had ever read. I loved it from the beginning. This book, again, has made me laugh and cry. I am sad that this series is over but I will always re-read it. Amazing storyline and characters that Mark makes you either love or hate with so many laughs and tears along the way. Love all of the series he writes and this series is one of the original ones that made me love the zompoc genre. Thank you Mark for an amazing and awesome ride!!!

I forgot to write reviews for some, and I will tell you why. You will finish one and buy the next. 5 stars for the whole series. So if you just see five stars from me, you know it is a straight banger and straight bought the next one!

I have really enjoyed reading this series. It has interesting and exciting stories, great characters, plus the audiobooks were performed magnificently. It never failed to entertain me. Listening to the last part of the book, where it all was ending, became an emotional experience. It felt like I was losing a friend.
Fantastic job, Tufo!

Another great story with Mike and Co., but multiple plot lines with what felt like underwhelming resolutions. Epilog sets up Lycan Fallout (great series BTW) but doesn't fully conclude ZF in my mind. I enjoyed it, just wondering wishing there was less time spent rehashing the fun-run of the Damenci building and more time spent wrapping up series-spanning plot lines.

So the series comes to the end. One of the best zombie sets (16 books plus spin offs) I have ever read.
Hope Mark revisits Mike and the gang again, we can only hope.

I love this series. Really.

I was lead to write a review on this amazing series after I read the authors notes in this book.

Firstly, this series has everything. Emotion. Tear filled moments. Realistic characters. Inappropriate humor. It has it all. There are moments when I have been listening to one of the audio books with my ear buds (I buy the actual books and the audiobooks. Don't judge. I do this for all my favorites.) While I am cleaning or gardening and I just start laughing or crying for no apparent reason to the family members around me. They already knew I lost my marbles years ago. I do not care ;).

Mark, I'm so happy you kept writing and learned to tune out the haters. These books have made me feel not so alone in my crazy. Mike could be my brother with how much we think alike. Thank you for your books from the bottom of my heart.

🎧 This is the 16th & final journal of Michael Talbot. Sean Runnette is & will always be the voice of Mike.

More of the same violence, hilarity, grossness I’ve come to know & love. Mike & BT are my favorite Zombie Apocalypse duo! Some of the best comedic villains! The best internal monologue from pets! Great family values. And heart … or did I mean BRRRRAINS.

Some great old villains return, a new zombie type (beevers ha ha ha), some new “convenient” help, Iggy, nukes, Henry, vodka (the cockroach of beverages).

You get some closure, you’re left with questions. You are even left with some hope that maybe you should never say die.

Sad. I can’t believe it’s over.

⭐️🧟‍♀️⭐️⭐️🧟‍♂️⭐️⭐️🧟⭐️ all the stars!

Strange

I love this series so I was a little disappointed with this last book. The characters that normally make you laugh and feel like you are either part of or family were just morose almost. A good part of the beginning was slow and somber. Picked up mid way and ended more like you would hope but still punctuated with an almost depression. I guess it was a more realistic view and a way to let it all come to a close but the part of me that was the in the wings buddy in the story hoped it would end with a cut up joke and arms around their shoulders looking towards whatever future is in front of them. It felt more like our future today with the viral takeover of our freedoms and future. A bit gloomy

With great sadness………

I have to say with all the years and books, I have never enjoyed a series more. Ironically I only meant to buy the first novel on Amazon when I accidentally bought all 15 and then went back for book 16. I was like god I hope these books are half decent lol. After book 1 kid you not I was hooked. I won’t give away the plot but we’ll worth the money. I will say I’m sad it’s over and some of the characters I really want to know what their fate was. BT and Mikes relationship got me. We all had that one friend then life happens. Any way I will say I cried and laughed and cringed at a few of plots. Maybe some drinking occurs. Five stars and five fn more! WELL DONE!

A great end a decade long series!

I have been enjoying the exploits of Mike, BT, and Tommy through audible. Knowing this would be the last book in the series I decided to get the Kindle version. I thought it would last longer (fat chance of that). I bought it on Amazon Monday night and just finished this afternoon (Thursday).
Not sure what an A10 was doing on an aircraft carrier, it’s been a long time since I have been active duty. If you love action and have that one friend that stayed at your side, this is the book for you. Mark is a great story teller. At 60 year’s old I still cried at the end.

A perfect ending to a perfect saga! This series has made me do plenty of laughing, sit on the edge of my seat in suspense and even cry at times.

This one had it all including aircraft carrier, plenty of zombie killing, awesome action with BT USING a .50 cal to bring down a giant Bulker and Mike using a 30 mm GAU-8 Avenger rotary cannon on a stationary A10 Warthog to wipe out plenty zombies. Thid one claims to bring it to a close with the conclusion of the story with Iggy, Deneaux & Knox.

Even your final sentences made an impact on us, particularly regarding the key issue of our current times.

Thank you Mark Tufo for so many five-star books!

Finally

I have spent countless hours with Mike Talbot and his crews of characters and insane adventures. I even had to sit back and wait for 2 years or so to go by before I could get to this book. ( I read voraciously and don't stop until the buffet closes when the food runs out) I even read a few of Lycan fallouts while waiting to be able to get here. Those are next, BTW. MR. T, if you read this, just know that every twist, turn, corkscrew, and U turn was worth it. No matter how insane it seemed, I was a marlin on a hook and wasn't giving up. Thank you, good sir. It was indeed a fine ride.

Hiraeth: A feeling of longing for a home that no longer exists or for one that never was.

This tentative last book in the series was accurately described as Hiraeth. Much of the story is peppered with the exhausted PTSD plaguing the entire Talbot crew, especially Mike. As they begin to prep for life on a boat l, they must destroy something worse than zombies or reevers - if that can be believed. Satisfyingly, loose ends are tied up though the end is sad and somewhat abrupt. Thankfully, I know additional books were released so I know there is more to come. It's been an emotional 16 books, Phew.

The end (?????) of the Zombie Fallout series. For those wanting more Mike, the conclusion of this one sets up pretty well for the beginning of the Lycan series, though note that there are some backstory differences between the two that will make the ZF aficionado say "THAT'S NOT RIGHT", probably at top volume in a public place. Just as Mike would. I'm not a huge fan of the Lycan series so I will bid Mike and BT adieu and hope that Mark Tufo can't resist another instalment for them (I would love to see Tripp reappear.) (And yes, I know, he's in another spinoff series. It's not the same.)

Glad you didn't quit

I was hooked from the first book. The gritty raw style and dark humor is what vets crave! Your stories got electrolytes! Like myself, I'm positive mikes twisted dialogue is your inner thoughts not made for society leaking out..I know..because under the surface theirs a little mike in us all.. The only flaw is he's a marine and not ARMY!!! Love yr work. And if you read this, I know some producers i can point your way..Spent time in Holly weird making movies. take care jar head!

What a ride

The first book in this series was the first purchase I made on my new kindle, ten years ago. The editing was a little rough, pacing a little jarring, but the story, the characters and the charm made me buy the second book.

Here we are, ten years later. The ending was perfect and tied up the spinoff series well.

Thank you, Mark, and thank you Mike. You're a good team.

Hard to believe this is the end, particularly after the book in series with said title was like a dozen books ago lol. Still, it went out on a strong point, and you can also begin to see the origins of the Mike sagas to come later in the Lycan series. It was a bit of a bummer to see Mike getting depressed over his trials through the apocalypse, but understandable nonetheless. Looking forward to what new content will come next. There is quite the time gap between ZF and LF.

Such a great series.

It took me ages to finally pick this book up as I knew it was "meant" to be the last in the series, which is always hard to read when your such a fan of the book (and not wanting it to end).
I've just reread the rest of the series so had to follow through to this book too (and the newly released book 17!!)... I'll need to reread this a few more times before it fully sinks in but still a fan and still highly recommend this series and this author!

This is a great completion to a fun ride of a series. While this isn't the best ZA series I've read, it is beyond a doubt the most entertaining one, and I'm a big fan of Mark Tufo's writing style. I must be, as I've gone on to read his related series (Lycan Fallout, Indian Hill, etc.). Thanks for seeing this through, sir. It DOES complete the main series, but I'm thankful to see some additional novels squeezing in some more stories related to this all - I'm reading #17 now!

This book was wild, heart wrenching and a great fuck you to a character or two I’m glad to see finally get what was coming to them.

As always great story telling by Tufo! I’m glad to know that there are more books in the series. The ending to this book seemed like the series was probably done but I’m glad it isn’t.

I’ve been following this series from the start and I’ve loved every second of it.

End of an era, or is it?

Honestly I had a little cry, when I read the authors note at the end. I'm a huge fan of Mark's work, and this series has made me cry, laugh, cringe, and recoil in horror, often in the same paragraph!!!!
Thank you for a brilliant series Mark. Can't wait to see what your imagination comes up with next.

I am really sad that the series has come to an end. I am happy and sad about the way some things concluded and will miss Mike’s adventures. I don’t want to reveal any spoilers so I will just say that some people got what they deserved and I cried at the final chapter.
Time to read the other tangents of his story.

The amazing end of a journey

Old scores are settled and friends, acquaintances and family are gone as Michael Talbot is pushed beyond what anyone should be. If he is victorious will his humanity survive or will he be pulled into the darkness of the void where his soul once resided. Find out in this exciting finale to he and his families journey.

Good ending to a good series.

Enjoyed all the books in this series. Gave an adequate ending. I like books that spend 2 or 3 chapters telling us how life went after the ending and this book gave us 2 or 3 pages so better than most although I would have enjoyed 20 more pages. Author is worth the read.

What an amazing journey

I can’t believe the end has come. What a fantastic world of real characters full of personality and quirks and love and hope and loss and all those amazing human highs and lows. Beyond the story, these characters will stay with me. They are friends and family, and they will be missed. Thank you Mr. Tufo for bringing such an amazing story to life.
For later memory - Mike, Tracy, BT, Deneaux, Trip…

I wanted to love this book. I love this series so much but the final book was kind of a letdown. I found my mind wandering listening to this one which is something that has never happened with a Mark Tufo book. Zombie Fallout is one of THE best zombie series ever, but had this been the 1st book in the series I would not have continued with it. Sad to see this series end tho.
