The familiar plot of this story - a young animal gets lost, experiences mild peril and meets some interesting characters as they journey to find their mother again- is perfect for developing prediction skills and building empathy. The illustrations are rich and detailled and the story is laid out well for younger children (4-6) to follow but the text itself would be best suited to confident readers (7+).

This one is a little slow. Ezra likes the pictures but can't sit still for the story.
