Second Chances

Rate this book
After years of living on the streets exchanging sexual favors for meals, a place to sleep for the night or more often than not the things she needed to feed her addictions, Natasha was at the bottom of the barrel until one day the winds of fate blew in her favor and she met a tall, beautifully commanding woman named Mistress Claudia who offered her the one thing she had spent more than half her life seeking. With nowhere to go but up, Natasha took the stranger’s offer fully expecting things to end badly. Weeks later, her thoughts clearer than that had been in years, she learned the only thing she truly needed was someone to give her a second chance.

This book is okay, and based on discussions between the characters, we read a lot about kink, abuse, drug addiction and control of people via money, sex, drugs and slavery. For erotica, though, what we get very little of is erotic action. Only one scene at the very end of the book.

I think the author got distracted about what the book was about and started to go towards a serious discussion about sexual slavery, then realized to cover that plot point with any care or subtlety would take a hundred or more extra pages and then curtailed the book and added that sex scene to end the book quickly with no denouement.

I will read other books by this author, but I hope future reads will be a bit more sexy-times and a little less heavy topics (that have merit as stories to read, just not when billed as lesbian erotica).

YMMV.
