This was a good, fast paced adventure story, with a lot of interesting information about the sw desert area & native species in that area. Laced/ some humor. Good character development. Could have cut half an hour or so towards the end, but easy to skip through without losing any of the enjoyment of the book.

There are a lot of books that almost make me wish there was a movie of tv show because the story was so visual and it has a good vibe for it. Honestly, I love that this book wasn't just a thriller, it was also a complete adventure. From the setting to the characters goals and attitudes, and even to the twists that the plot had.

In this first book we are introduced to Clayton and he was such a relatable character. He had that resourceful trait that made reading about what he would do next and how would he save the day so much exciting.

The book had a drug-smuggling ring as the bad guy, and it's always interesting to see how certain aspect of the dark side of society are portrayed in books. The story was believable, it had realism thanks to the scenery and the characters. Which made me curious to know all the secrets and all that would happen next.

Overall, I was amazed and I enjoyed this first book. I can't wait to see what will happen next. What other adventure will Clayton find? What other dangers, what other mysteries... I just know it will continue to have as much action, drama and suspense as this one, plus we will continue to learn more about this Biologist and wildlife photographer: Clayton Porter.

Trail of the Jaguar is a thrilling adventure novel that follows a wildlife photographer named Clayton Porter who finds himself wrapped up in some crazy things. What he assumes is just a drug-smuggling ring ends up being so much more. And soon, he finds himself doing whatever it takes to save himself and take down the bad guys, before it's too late.
It's definitely an exciting read that will keep you on your toes. The author brings a sense of realism to the story, and you can almost feel like you're having a wild, albeit suspenseful, adventure right along with Clayton.
There's a lot going on, but it's paced well, and it's easy to get sucked in and lost to the imagery while reading. Clayton is tough, but he's also a really well-written, likeable character you can't help but root for. He's the type of guy you'd want to have your back if you found yourself in a bit of a pickle. Or more than a pickle.
I really enjoyed Trail of the Jaguar, and I think I'd like to see more of Clayton and his adventures. If you're looking for something thrilling and full of action, give this book a go.

I admit to having a bit of sleep deprivation this week. It all started last Tuesday when I received my copy of Trail of the Jaguar. I read well into the wee hours of the morning and finished the novel in three nights. Jonathan Hanson has written a thriller that promises to be a great series. His knowledge as a naturalist, sea kayaker and explorer, weapons expert, tracker, and his familiarity with the natural history of the Southwest, particularly Arizona and northern Mexico, creates a multi-colored backdrop for this adrenalin-laced thriller. His protagonist Clayton T. Porter, just like the Sonoran Desert where he resides, can kill you in all manner of ways. Porter uses his desert knowledge and tactical training to dispatch bad guys by the most satisfying of means. Well researched and timely, I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next installment of the Clayton T. Porter series.

Wow! Just wow! Trail of the Jaguar by Jonathan Hanson was absolutely entertaining. This book is full of humor, action, adventure, and a little romance to top it off. I was up late trying to finish this book, because I couldn’t put it down.
This book is very well written researched, written, and promises to be a great series. Jonathan Hanson‘s knowledge really comes into play here, creating a realistic novel, full of thrills.
I could keep going, or you could grab your copy and start reading. If you enjoy this genre, you’ll love this book. This is an author I will be reading again. Highly recommended.

Trail of The Jaguar is a page-turning, nail-biting, adventure-filled thriller. Biologist and wildlife photographer Clayton T. Porter loves the outdoors. Exploring and photographing in the Arizona desert, he inadvertently witnesses what he thinks is drug smuggling. Clayton is in for quite a surprise. Unfortunately, what he discovers will set him in the crosshairs of very dangerous people. It will also endanger people closest to him. But, no worries, Porter has a plan. This incredible read is filled with detailed descriptions, wonderful characters, and a great storyline. It does include quite a bit of backstory which, I hope, means there are many more adventures planned. Well done, Mr. Hanson! A great describes describes troubles as Clayton find a body and Jaguars skins in a Mexico mine. As he keeps away from a Border Guard that is running the Jaguars of animals and skins. The story haves exciting action, and eventually a need to protect himself by goes back to the Mexican to destroy the jaguar resort running for illegal hunters and smuggling medicine pills. The describes is very realistic and provides details of the need to protect the Clayton from the criminals. The book is very accurate and excitement. I know much of the kayaking and camping as the Clayton worked to end the illegal hunting and smuggling. Actually, the criminals planned to kill Clayton, so Clayton had to protect and his friends from their attacks. This is a book well worth several reads.

This is a book to read

Let me preface my comments by saying that I have spent significant time in the area of the book. Trail of the Jaguar is the most exciting, interesting, and fun book that I’ve read in a long time. The guy understands the environment, geography, and geology of the area as well as the critters. I’ve lived and explored this area, and Jonathan Hanson has it right. Furthermore, he is a knowledgeable gear guy, and he has the right gear for his endeavors. The motorized parachute was great. There are also a bits of humor and political commentary in the book, which I hope the reader catches. Read this book, you won’t be disappointed. I hope the author gets another book out soon.

Trail of the Jaguar is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It is packed with information, humor, action and adventure. Oh, there is the tiniest hint of romance.

It all starts with jaguars. Someone is capturing them and using them for sport hunting. The conspiracy reaches into the border patrol, and an officer that makes a serious mistake. Now the syndicate that controls the illegal poaching and drug running needs to make an example of the person that has caused this trouble. They picked the wrong person to make an example of. I hope to read much more by this author.

I enjoyed this suspenseful story. This is a new author for me which I enjoyed his writing style and his attention to details. This is a well written story about retailiation and it is full of action. It takes place in Arizona and Mexico. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and kept me engaged to the end. It is full of action and twists and turns that you don't want to miss. I enjoyed how the relateable the characters were as well as how they brought the story to life. The growth of the characters as well as the plot was great throughout the book. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

🐆This was a really fun outdoorsy read. The nature, history, culture and descriptions of Southwest Arizona and Northwest Mexico really sucks you into the story. There’s Jaguars, drug cartel, poachers, natural history, and a tactically trained badass main character. Really this novel has everything you could want in a thriller/adventure story.

🐆The parts describing living on a ranch reminded me of Oklahoma and I absolutely loved it. Plus this novel also has a splash of romance and a dab of humor to spice things up.

As a Biologist deeply immersed in biodiversity in the Sonoran desert I loved this book. It is a great romp through the desert with a focus on detailed natural history and culture that reflect Hanson's lifetime of close study of the region. I also loved the dramatic intrigue of battle between profiteers and the environment. This book will also appeal to outdoor gear heads! Jonathan Hanson is positioned to define the Carl Hiasson or Randy Wayne White style fiction in the desert southwest. I'll admit a small crush on Clayton T. Porter and I'm looking forward to the next adventure!

Fun read, a little predictable, but still engaging

If you are an outdoorsy gear head who likes firearms, you are going to love this book. I did.

Lots of detail about the flora and fauna, equipment, and geography. Great for metal pictures and pulling you into the main character. A little predictable, but is a satisfying, justice was served kind of way.

I’ll avoid the spoilers and just say, it all works out in the end.

Really liked this adventure and eagerly waiting for another one with Clayton Porter.
Lots of good outdoor skills utilized to survive the challenging situations he encounters as he
struggles to do what is right. I especially appreciated all of the natural science and ecology
information which Jonathan Hanson shares from his own personal experiences.

An excellent action filled thriller, this novel is replete with details that show the author's love and knowledge of the outdoors, firearms and wildlife. The characters are extremely well-drawn and the descriptions of the true United States west and rural Mexico are spot on. It was a real pleasure of a book to read!

An excellent read, I highly enjoyed every breath holding page. I especially like the first person view, no getting lost with different characters, just settle back and enjoy.
