When Martian authorities board the cargo ship Galaxy to stop the crew conducting an illegal experiment, the unwanted attention threatens a critical trade deal with Outlaws. Under pressure from the Colonies to deliver an exigent package, they must find a way to make the trade and deliver the package, or bad things will happen.
Steven Dutch was born in 1188SE (Space Era) and went back in time, bringing with him a holographic orb which he deciphered with his friend and fellow time-traveller; Chris Masterton. Their collaboration and efforts resulted in History of Sol. The only way to know the history of the future is to read this series! Now!
Ouroboros was worth the wait for the History of Sol to further unfold. It is fast-paced, full of action and ideas, with plausible physics enhancing its world-building (and world-destroying, the asteroid belt where Earth used to be is a nice touch). I highly recommend this and its predecessors and am looking forward to the next book.
This was a very creative sci-fi book and true to form in that respect. Lots of action and I enjoyed the data files that helped build the world. However I like my books to be much more character driven. There were a lot of characters, and a lot of POVs in this book, so the potential was there to really delve into them, but the book was very short and compact, so I suppose something had to give. Shame, because there was a lot more that could have been explored, particularly with the Cyborg character. It had hints of 'found family' vibes, but the characters weren't given the time to establish themselves enough in order to give it much merit. This is the first in a series, so maybe this develops over time.
( Format : Audiobook ) "Welcome to the Galaxy." Well, if you are looking for a science fiction story with non stop action, cyborgs, outlaws, mutants, mysterious packages, strange experiments and crazy (in the sense of totally nuts) crew members, all in a book of under three hours, then this is the book for you. Don't try to understand d it, just roll with it. Narration by Zachary Johnson is also non stop: brisk and well modulated, his enthusiastic delivery almost compensated for.his lack of differentiated character voices. In something less protagonist rich, this would not have been problematic but here this simply adds a little to the possible confusion.
my thanks to the rights holder who, at my request, freely gifted me a complimentary copy of Ouroboros, via Audiobook Boom. An enjoyable romp and first in the series, History of Sol. Despite the intrigue and mysteries established, however, I doubt that I will continue to book two: just too much action and not enough character building for me
If you enjoy space travel, the fate of the universe and some light humor oh and Sci-Fi this book is the one for you. I have been following the series since the beginning of the Odyssey. I very much like the story writing of both authors, you can see both writing styles compliment each other. The technical details are well explained, not too long or too short. The suspense is also very well done. A very enjoyable read. I could not put this book down and read it from cover to cover in one sitting.
As a Co-author my review is probably not worth much, but i love this book. Like all our books, they are our babies. I enjoy reading them just as much as I did writing them. We love writing and one of our primary beliefs, is if we aren't enjoying writing it, it wont be enjoyable to read. So I hope anyone who reads this can see how much we loved writing it.
As a co-author, my review is a little biased. But I enjoyed reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it. Our goal has never been to make bucket loads of money but rather to celebrate our love of sci-fi, make each other laugh, and share a little glimpse of what we think the future may hold for humanity.
