A Frightening Battle Rages . . .

After a year’s investigation, Roderick, an inquisitor, found it exhilarating that he had located the Clockwork Killer. It was a perfectly inconspicuous place for a serial killer to operate unnoticed, but someone was inside. While Seighty, his feline companion, guarded one door, Roderick went out to the basement entrance, watching always for deadly traps. He noticed the hinges did not have pins anymore but had been replaced by screws. He worked with his dagger to unscrew them, taking over an hour to do so. The basement, as expected, was gruesome with awful implements and two figures, zombified with joints replaced by mechanical contraptions to make the appendages move, such that a violin player’s arm stroked the bow over the strings. The other person was an old man, the real monster, the killer Theodore Edick. Roderick announced that he was placing him under arrest.

To Nicole, the mayor’s daughter, Devil’s Kiln was nothing more than a rusted and ruined contraption that had been left to rot ages ago. Isaac had asked her to meet him here. He was going to Three Rivers and said he would bring something back for her. When Thin Man, the necromancer, walked over to dig up a plant, Isaac left while Thin Man talked with Nicole. He told her Devil’s Kiln was formerly known as A Massacre Engine. Then he told her if a wicked person dies at peace and unashamed by the evil they spread in life, the earth will not take them back and they become undead or more like a ghost entombed within a metal shell. He gave one of the plants he had dug up to her to put in her garden, then he walked away.

In Three Rivers, Inquisitor Roderick is ending his monster-hunting career with the execution of The Clockwork Killer. But a strange murder forces Roderick to resume an investigation that may indicate that even in death, Clockwork Killer’s murderous plans were still continuing.

The Massacre Engine did activate when the Clockwork Killer’s body was brought to Nicole’s town of Whispers. As it ravaged the town, Nicole is trapped in a struggle to protect the people. Roderick must find a way to destroy the invincible monstrous construct. If either of them fails, the people of Whispers are doomed. Can they defeat the Massacre Engine? It had been done once before. Did anyone remember how?

This story increases in intensity as the evil Massacre Engine rampages through the town. Grab your copy and see if there is any hope of defeating the supernatural enemy. Can Nicole and Roderick do it alone?
