Thank you for another Goodreads giveaway. Mad caper told in 2 ways: once with a female cast and once again with a male cast. I liked the twists in the first short story but the second seemed redundant. This seemed more like an author's musings more than a final draft.

Thrilling and bloody tale
This is another book (well, two in one!) that has led me down a crazy adventure- mysteries and murder is not my average cup of tea! There are multiple twists and turns to keep readers on their toes. Pros- you can read and follow along with the adventure through dialogue. Characters speak eloquently and with purpose. Cons- there is a lot more dialogue than anything else. There are a variety of characters, gore, and schemes. Be wary of the blood, murder, and betrayal! I love that there are two parts/books so we can follow the story more thoroughly. Luckily, each book is its own special variant; it is not some cookie-cutter theme applied to different sets of characters.
Watching parts of the mystery unravel within the first 10 chapters is bewildering. There is constant action, movement, and development for each character; since there is not too much backstory for every character each characters' actions are chaotic and there are plenty of surprises! TummiTurtles are innovative and have their own use- don’t they? Let us turn to gangsters and ignore the law to solve our own issues and do not get double-crossed. It is cute how much focus goes into the name of the product and the journey has little to do with its practicality- y’know a solid product!

First of all I enjoyed Tom Dots Doherty’s writing style. I did not however enjoy the same basic story with a different set of characters and endings.
I felt that there was no character development. What was the motive as to why a wife would have her husband kidnapped? If your husband is cheating why not get a divorce and move on rather than risk engaging in criminal activity. Each story dealt with twins; one good and one bad but there was no real back story.
I completed the book wishing Mr. Doherty had just picked one of the scenarios and written a complete story around those characters. When I read a mystery or “Who Done It” I want to know the whys and what motivates people. I closed my book feeling somewhat cheated.
I do thank Mr. Doherty and Goodreads for the free book. I like the exposure to different authors and stories even if some leave me wanting more. I know I wouldn’t have picked this book on my own but I will probably give Mr. Doherty another chance to entertain me as I felt he had promise.
