I love Mark Tufo's Zombie Fallout series largely because of the character of it's long-suffering hero Michael Talbot. Nearly my own age, he is the every-guy that I really identify with. When I discovered that Indian Hill was about a young Talbot, I eagerly picked up the audio books and started listening as I waited for ZF6.
I was greatly disappointed in the first two books. The story wasn't a prequel to ZF, it was probably some kind of parallel dimension. The dots between this story and ZF do not connect.
The story of Beth, once her usefulness is over drags the story down as I actually found myself rooting for evil to put her out of my misery.
That said, this third book redeemed the series. Finally, the against all odds humor and determination of humanity fighting an overwhelming enemy. A story of the best in people. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and urge anyone that felt the same about the first two books to push through and finish the series,
I have become a huge fan of Tufo's, but I feel like I'm missing something in this alternate history to ZF.

This is #3 in the Indian Hill series. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so far. I like the voice of the characters. This one wasn't quite 4 stars but I edged it up because it is entertaining and keep me hanging on. The one thing that made this less than 4 stars was the insta-love. It just wasn't believable. It reads like male fantasy on the MC's behalf. All the girls are just crazy for him and ready to duke it out ...all the time....really? The author turned a smart confident military woman into a weeping pile of mush. I hate that.

But other than that, this was fun. I like the way the plot zigs and zags. It is always so unexpected. So the pace is nice. So overall, 4 stars.

ABR's full Conquest audiobook review and many others can be found at Audiobook Reviewer.

The first book “Encounters” was about Mike and his friends being kidnapped by the aliens. How he survived and how he finally returned to Earth after 18 months.

Book 2 “RECKONING” continues the story of what happened on and to the earth after Mike and the aliens arrived. The survival of the main characters in the face of a total breakdown of society.

“Conquest” (I have audio version) picks up where book 2 left off. Beth shot a man and is running scared. Mike wakes up in a hospital in France. FRANCE???? Paul had shot him with a dart. Well you didn’t expect the hero to get killed did you ?
This book details Beth’s journey back to Indian Hill. She had mad man chasing her and she found that children grow up fast in this new world. What she did when she finally got back, well she was in for a big surprise. Full of twists and turns, you will not want to stop reading. Mike is again aboard the alien ship. However, this time he has help for an unexpected source. Mark fully intends to halt the alien invasion and give the Earth another 2 or so years to prepare for the real invasion.

There is a lot more fighting and some good friends are lost. This is a non-stop thrill ride. Just when things look bleak the story takes a left turn. Mark must have a guardian angel on his shoulder. Or maybe, he has some cat in him.

If you can get the audio it is definitely worth it. Read by Sean Runnette and he is excellent. ( though his female voice could be a bit better) I still clung to every word.

I have to admit Indian Hill is yet another series of books that Im completely hooked on...jeeze...I never expected to love another series like Zombie Fallout; but here I am just this minute finished Book 3 in the Indian Fallout series and Im already reaching for book 4...NEED more hours in a day...got to wait till tonight now...sigh!

As Ive said with all my Mark Tufo books Ive read so far if you love this author just buy the damn book you don't need to read my review, you know your gona love Mike and his ways.
Alot of book series start to flag by book 3...but not Mark's...his just takes off in another direction like a firework before it explodes into another compelling, gripping, heart pounding direction. Each and every book takes you away from reality as you get so engrossed.

Conquest follows on straight from book 2 with help coming from his new friend D who I absolutely adore and I have love how Dee's character has grown and how close they have become; at his human sarcasm the gradual learning process has made him as likable as Mike. How hard must it be to make alien beings believable and better still relatable within a book...well Mark does it perfectly with his fantastic description of their physical crocodillian features and movements that makes them real, the way they smile etc.

Beth makes a big play throughout the storyline for Mike and I really dislike her now as I was so mad with her at the end of Book 2, I could have slapped her; but we all know who Mike truly loves if you've read ZF.

Book 3 spends more time in protecting the secret location of Indian Hill and finding how to stop the alien onslaught with Mike's idea and genius twist. I simply cannot say anymore without giving too much away you so need to read this from book 1. Its a fast paced addictive read you cant put down and a heart pounding fight for survival that has so many twists and turns it will keep you turning those pages.

If you haven't read Indian Hill 1 and 2 I feel you would appreciate this one alot more if you understood the build up and where and why Mike has got to where he has.

Got pretty funny toward the end. I think we're finally getting into what I've been waiting for.

Early Notes: The whole love story felt so forced and I should've said that at book 1. I'm not pulling for these goobers to get together. It's not a Jimmy Kimmel/Jimmy Kimmel type of love, which is to say TRUE LOVE. It's more of a Bella/Edward type of love, which is to say special needs kids falling in love type of love.

Later Notes: Wow these people fall in love with everyone they meet. Mike a ho too.

Weak, but acceptable narration.

Another chapter in the life of Mike Talbot and the world dealing with an alien invasion. It is even better listening to these books. There is a lot of action and suspense. Mike can get himself into a lot of situations… with his actions and his mouth. There is some humor to be found in man versus women versus aliens. Can mankind survive? And, is the enemy of my enemy my friend? Find out and enjoy.

in book 3 Mike Talbot character that we know and love emerges

Book 3 is where the Mike Talbot character that I've come to know and love emerges. Even though it's a sci-fi novel Mark touches on all the human frailties including bigotry. There are lessons to be learned for all of humanity.
Good job Mark

Another fun one

I can't help but get addicted to every series Mark Tufo writes. The third instalment has more of the humour Ive come to expect from Mark. I love the smart ass banter, action, adventure and again the smart assery. I cant wait to read no.4 but Zombie Fallout 20 just got delivered. Which one should I read first?

The story is as unique, fascinating and rapid paced as the first two books in the series. His characters continue to develop, as do the aliens. The book captured my attention before I finished the first chapter. Another Mark Tufo book I read that was hard to put down.

I liked this one but found that it lacked much of the good humour I have become familiar with in the zombie and Lucan books. I guess that's because Mike is so much younger in these ones. Overall, great read.

Indian Hills 3

Another great outing for Mike and his allies, story telling at its best. Authentic realistic characters you are rooting for all the way, I loved reading this book. It's the best of its king in the genre. Fab

The adventures here are fantastic as with the last 2 books. More depth to Mike, Paul and Beth surround a bevy of new characters and story elements without the action slowing down 1 bit. Buckle up.

Oh, no! This series has just gotten worse and worse. I'm now convinced that Mark padded the overarching story to make this a series. The interwoven threads are so shallow and repetitive that I simply can't continue. I know this sounds unfair...but just think about Beth and Pegged. Who would leave a National Guard complex that has just had all their members killed, and you killing one yourself, without the gun you had? Duh. Apparently Beth would. And who could hear someone in the woods 50 yards (150 feet) away as they released the safety on a rifle? Apparently Pegged could.

Mark, your first book in this series was quite good. You did a really good job making me hate the aliens.

So. Mark Tufo gives and gives(not just with his writing) - and then gives some more. On his Facebook page he's always having competitions and giving stuff away. Recently I received my "What Would Talbot Do?" Zombie Fallout Wristband. Since I don't wear these - I have placed it on the head of my guitar. It goes well with my Hazardous Materials guitar strap

Talbot. Michael Talbot is the main character of a bunch of Mark Tufo's novels/series. It seems that in alternative dimensions Talbot is destined to be faced with different nightmarish scenarios(from Aliens to Zombies and more) and has to overcome them, often having the lives of others(at times countless) on his head and is always trying to keep his soul intact. You will come to love him if you carry on reading his adventures. The character is so lifelike in my mind when I am reading - OH - OK - When I am listening to these audio books. That I haven't been able to put these down - I haven't been this drawn to a series since Stephen Kings "Dark Tower"

There is a lot of humor/sarcasm in these books. I am always laughing. But then you can be laughing away and then you are hit by scenes that might turn the stomach of the squeamish.

There is no amount of words I can use that can describe it with justice - I wanted to write a good review, but reviewing books doesn't come naturally for me. Tufo writes like Stephen King and Dean Koontz decided to have a baby - The gruesomeness of King and the subtext humility style of Koontz.

I have just finished Indian Hill. Where a young Talbot and co take on the Alien Invasion. I have to say I enjoyed this series just as much as Zombie Fallout. I think on another level; even more so.

I really loved this book, and this series is great...Not my fave out of ZFO, LFO, and IH....I would rate them in that order....oh then Tim...Tim is just gross....lol In this book I did come across a few contradictions from the other books, but if you aren't a freak like me, you wouldn't notice....I love Tufo books, I always know I am going to get a great story and a lot of laughs...This book did not disappoint....it is more military based then the other 2...but well worth a credit and a listen...Paul redeemed himself, but I still dont trust him...and Beth is a complete HO...So glad Tracy has finally came into the picture and baby Travis...is on the way....really great listen!!! 2 Thumbs up!!!!

LOVED IT!!! EVEN A 2ND TIME....I THINK I LOVE THIS SERIES EVEN MORE THIS TIME!! ON TO BOOK 4!!!

Great addition to the series (I thought this was to be a trilogy but it seems set up for many more). I particularly enjoyed the development of "D" as a character. It was a little hard to get overly engaged in the finale as you really only have a connection with 1 character who is rarely in harms way (which seemed a bit odd for a series that gravitated around the concept of life and death decisions, the illusion of civilization, and a less than veiled allusion to imperialism). The denouement seemed a little rushed as compared to the rest of the book, which is why I am assuming more books are on the way. I ultimately rated this a 5 star book because it managed to spring some well set-up surprises on me, and ventured into new territory in a setting that would have been easy to get stale in.

Read the series from 1-3, straight through and all I can say is fantastic. I am not a big SF fan but as it shares the same main character as in ZF series I felt I had to give it a go. Similar style as ZF but with a twist and vibe that makes the reading of this series a joy and fresh in the post-apocalyptic genre. I wish that when it all ends Mark Tufo finds a way to link it all together. Here is my idea, ZF happens but at the end a time machine sends an assassin back to take out the main baddie, once she has been killed the time line resets and Indian Hills starts with the aliens alerted by the temporal riff (am I a geek or what?).

......WOW!!! It just keeps getting better and better. First of all, this has been the funniest of the series yet. This series has gone way beyond anything I had anticipated when I first started it. I knew it would be good, but........ The depth of the characters is superb, the situations are enough to immerse you into the world of Indian Hill, and feel with the characters themselves. THIS, is exactly why Mark Tufo is by far one of my all-time favorite writers. I would tell more about the story itself, but I don't want to give it away and take away from the thrill and suspense of following the storyline yourself.

Wow! What a climax to a very exciting story. This book sped by and took far less time to listen to than I had hoped! I love to immerse myself in Tufo's books, listening to the brilliant Sean Runnette. This final tale takes the characters, along with humanity, to the brink. It's one hell of a ride. As ever, Mar Tufo's characters are strong and humour plays a strong part in delivering the story. For me, this is what enables me to suspend belief so completely. Talbot's wry humour makes it all feel so real. Another triumph from Tufo.

Book 2 went off on a bit of a tangent with little plot advancement and not nearly enough Mike Talbot, but book 3 is a return to where this story should be. Tons of action and adventure with Mike taking on unfathomable odds and adding in his normal dose of sarcasm and humor makes ‘Indian Hill 3: Conquest’ a fine addition to the Talbot universe. I found this book to be fun, entertaining and interesting. If you’re a fan of Mark Tufo then you’ll like this one as well.

I'm going to use the same review for both parts 2 & 3.

Somewhat the same issues and strength as Part 1. Times of very realistic plot and dialog followed by some highly cliched writing. Some of the circumstances feel contrived, like if there wasn't something life-threatening every page, something nearly impossible would happen to make it life-threatening. Again the overall plot and pacing make it worth the read, even with the flaws.

What an awesome series with more to come I am sure. This third installment gets a bit more out there in terms of believability than the other two, but with this style of fiction, that's a minor criticism. This is likely the best "aliens come to earth to conquer and run into a buzz saw" genre stories I've come across. Highly recommend.
