A typical Piscean, USA Today! Best-selling author, Yvonne Lindsay, has always preferred the stories in her head to the real world. Yvonne is a five-time Romance Writers of Australia R*BY nominee and three-time nominee and 2015 winner of the Romance Writers of New Zealand Koru Award of Excellence. She spends her days crafting the stories of her heart and in her spare time she can be found with her nose firmly in someone else’s book.
Fast paced, second chance romance. The writing is engaging, the hero’s background intriguing and interesting to see how first love never dies. I will say I would have liked more build up in their relationship, it moves swiftly from hate to friends with benefits than love. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
What Happens at Christmas is the third book in Yvonne Lindsay’s Clashing Birthrights series. What a book! I loved every moment of it and read it in one sitting. From the opening pages where Kristin discovered Jackson in her parents’ home to the closing scenes; I was glued to this story. I love a second chance romance and this was absolutely perfect. I think I have read every book that Ms. Lindsay has written and this was my all-time favorite! I highly recommend reading this series. I received an advance copy which I chose to read and review. This is my honest opinion.
The family had been through so much and now another hit. Is it true? In steps Jackson as their new attorney and more to Kristen. It was worth every page. ❤❤
What Happens at Christmas… continues the Clashing Birthrights series with Kristin’s story. After all the upheaval that her family’s been going through recently, the last thing Kristin wants to deal with is a blast from her past in the form of the one man who broke her heart, the one man who mattered. And being placed into a position of power as the family/business attorney isn’t setting very well with a woman who easily admits to not trusting Jackson one little bit.
Jackson made mistakes in the past, and he’s about to make a few more by keeping his reasons for breaking Kristin’s heart to himself. And perhaps more importantly, by not telling her his entire truth, ugly, sad, or outrageous doesn’t matter, what does to her is that he still, after the lessons learned from their breakup, cannot manage to give her the entire truth at one time.
To be fair to Jackson, he’s got an extremely personal and sensitive situation to handle that he’s chosen to not enlighten Kristin about but it wears on him. He has obligations, loving ones, but nonetheless, Jackson isn’t convinced that letting Kristin back into his life is the right choice for either of them. Oh, sure, the love still burns bright – but it’s not always about love, is it? Add to the pot that is stirring a little bit of blackmail in the form of another offspring making contact… and this couple, this family has pretty much had all they can take. But there is strength here that will not let an enemy win, no matter who they are.
I enjoyed What Happens at Christmas… very much. I do, however, feel that reading the previous books in the series is helpful to understand some events that happen in Jackson’s and Kristin’s story. Do you have to? Of course not. That choice is entirely yours, yet I would recommend the entire series if at all possible. I don’t know if there will be more to come… it feels like there should be (without me giving away a possible spoiler as to why I feel that) but I guess time will ultimately tell. In all, it’s a good story that takes place around Christmastime with an interesting couple facing down their past before the future will open up for them.
What Happens at Christmas is a lovely second chance at love story with all the trappings of an ütber-wealthy Christmas. Set in Seattle, Washington, this sexy romance features strong primary and secondary characters, a well-developed plot and a touch of intrigue. With ultra-wealthy characters, exquisite clothes and surroundings are a given, and author Yvonne Lindsay has done a good job of creating visual images of these for her readers. I thought the plot was well developed. It kept me hooked to the end of what proved to be an enjoyable story.
A delectable reunion of first loves! With the third Richmond sibling's story in the continuation of the Clashing Birthrights series Yvonne Lindsay brings us the story of Kristin and Jackson in WHAT HAPPENS AT CHRISTMAS ... and it was quite satisfying. I wanted a bit more at the ending to make it feel like their current relationship was developing thoroughly, but overall they were a sweet couple who overcame mistakes they made in their youth to go on to become accomplished, self- assured adults who had the good fortune of finding one another again. I enjoyed this series!
I recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who likes a good bit of family drama mixed into their romance and depiction of real life. The family is successful and very captivating.
This was my first time reading a second chance romance, and I have to say, this was actually pretty good. I thought for a minute it was an enemies to lovers, with the way Kristin has been hurt by Jackson so bad that she didn’t want to love anyone else. They even tried to do the whole friends with benefits thing, but instead, they fell for each other hard, even though they had to deal with Kristin’s mother getting married again to Hector. Along with dealing with her father’s infidelities, I shockingly enjoyed this book.
I’ve never read a second chance novel like this before. This blew me away a bit and I truly enjoyed this book that I might want to expand into second chance romances (if they are really good and really good written!). The hurt and pain that Jackson and Kristin went through was both painful to read and also understanding, because sometimes real life just crash and you can’t deal with it sometimes, but I just didn’t like the way he upped and left her without a note or a text or anything. But I guess I can forgive Jackson *this time*...
Former lovers reunited when Jackson takes over the law firm that works for Kristin's family. Their love affair ended abruptly with no closure on either side. Both have moved on, but they have never forgotten each other. Kristin has lost her faith in men that have been in her life, starting with Jackson. Jackson has had to deal with stressful family obligations that he would rather not discuss. Both need to communicate more to let the other know what's in their hearts.
