Ever wonder why some people are magnetic, confident in their abilities, in charge of their own destinies, and utterly at ease in their own skin? What’s their secret? In a word: Swagger.
And no, this is not the old swagger―that show-off, in-your-face, arrogant kind. This brand-new swagger is unshakable, undeniable and utterly unstoppable. And you can have it too.
Award-winning training guru and coach Leslie Ehm shows that true swagger results from your ability to manifest who you really are and hold on to it in the face of all the psychological crap that will come for it every day. Part guidebook, part manifesto, a little sweary and completely inspiring, Swagger gives you the steps to unlock and unleash your personal brand of swagger―one that can never be duplicated or diminished. And you’ll read stories of the countless people Leslie’s worked with who’ve discovered their own swagger and changed their lives for the better.
Forget everything you think you know about confidence-building. Swagger shatters the myths around “fake it ’til you make it,” and shows you how to record over all the negative self-limiting tapes and stop giving away your personal power. You’ll learn how to challenge the preconceptions of what you “should” and “shouldn’t” do, and navigate the professional world with authenticity and badassery.
Discover what swagger blockers are holding you back and what drivers will bring your unique and powerful personality to the forefront for all to revel at and see why Swagger is the new mindset that will bring you all of the success you’ve ever dreamed of without ever having to compromise or sacrifice who you really are.
For anyone who’s ever felt that they weren’t good enough or believed that revealing their messy, vulnerable, authentic human selves could never result in greater success, Swagger will give you a doorway into the kind of self-belief that creates unimaginable confidence and will change the way you live, work and feel.
Your swagger is waiting for you. What are you waiting for?
Leslie Ehm is a speaker and corporate trainer on storytelling and authenticity for the world’s biggest companies - although these days, she spends most of her time writing juicy fiction.
A former musician, advertising Creative Director, TV host, and script editor for companies like Miramax and Working Title, Leslie is also the author of the Wall Street Journal and USA Today non-fiction bestseller Swagger.
When she’s not writing, Leslie can be found in the boxing gym, eating Goldfish (the cracker kind), or binge-watching British crime shows with her delicious hubby.
Swagger is a great self-help book about being your authentic self. Swagger gives great advice with activities throughout the book that make the reader evaluate their current status and goals for the future. Swagger provides real world examples that show the benefits of swagger. The stories are inspiring and proof that these methods work. Swagger is about the opposite of fake it till you make it, but it is about being your authentic self all the time. Ehm uses her training and coaching experience to teach and inspire. She explains in order to be authentic, people should be the same no matter who they are with or what the situation is and not feel like they change. I recommend Swagger for anyone looking to find confidence to be authentic.
Thank you Get Red PR and Page Two Books for Swagger.
Do you have Swagger? This book does! Leslie shows you how to break through your insecurity, fear, and pain and develop your persona and ambition so you can swagger the real you with truth, intention, and self-belief. Swagger by Leslie Ehm is a gem for anyone who wants to make the most of every opportunity at work and in life.
One of the things I loved about this book is the quotable quotes like: -'Swagger is not about perfection. It's about being a flawed badass.' -'To accept where we've been gives us the power to own where we are.' -'For ambition to be legit, it should never come at the cost of your authenticity.'
Whenever I reread these quotes and many others in this book it gives me chills and inspires me to use my natural and attained skills to the best of my ability. When you take the time to reflect on what Swagger has to offer you and you thoroughly apply Leslie's lessons, you'll be much stronger and true to yourself therefore attracting the right attention in your direction.
SHOULD YOU BUY SWAGGER? It's a great self-help book. If you've read many of these types of books in the past you're bound to find similar themes throughout this one, yet I found it to be engaging and informative in a fun way. So go for it, even if you are an avid reader, or even if you're not, you're bound to find swagger in this book and hopefully in yourself after finishing it.
Disclosure: I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
Rating: 3.5 stars
"Swagger is the ability to manifest the real you and hold on to it in the face of all the psychological crap that's going to come for it - regardless of the sitiation or environment."
This is a book focused on authenticity. I appreciated how honest and candid the author was in her writing. Laying it out bare, (expletives and all - which I very much enjoyed being a fan of swear words myself), you really see her true self shine through.
There were a lot of great takeaways, but what I connected with the most was the section on swagger blockers: persona, ambition, insecurity, fear, and pain. How "we surround ourselves with layers of our own making both to defend against threats and in response to what we think the world expects from us." The author goes into detail about each layer, and provides exercises on how to get through them to uncover the "real" you.
As a corporate professional, I truly felt this book was written for me. As I've gotten older, I've learned to embrace authenticity simply out of exhasution, and have stayed more true to myself than I have in the past. I was definitely conditioned to believe that I had to act a certain way in order to suceed, and that's just not the case. If we all think that way, then we all end up sounding the same, and no one gets to see our uniqueness and value.
Also loved the "competence breeds confidence" quote and the fallacy behind fake it till' you make it.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with authenticity, confidence and insecurity in the workplace.
What does it mean to have swagger and do you think your swagger-licious? The definition for swagger is: to walk or behave in a confident and typically arrogant or aggressive way. Hmmmm, interesting. When I think of someone who has swagger I think that yes the person is confident but also comfortable with who they are. That doesn’t mean they are the best, the smartest, the richest, best dressed, none of those things. They simply know who they are and who they aren’t and they are ok with that. Usually these are the types of people you want to be around because they are living life to their fullest potential and happy people. Author Leslie Ehm has worn many hats in her career but the book follows her career as a training guru, aka Swagger coach. She helps people gain confidence to go after what they want in life with style and class. Working with clients she helps them realize their self-belief that will help them make changes within themself to go after something they were afraid to before. Basically we are so critical on ourselves sometimes we can’t see our own potential. Leslie helps her clients, and now us, with steps to become our best selves! You don’t need to fake-it until you make it, set a goal and go after it. “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” E.E.Cummings
Not only does this book have a fantastic bright cover, but there are some great nuggets inside that I found very useful. I have worked with people that like to keep their work and personal lives separate, and I have always disagreed with that approach. Some of my best friends today are those that I worked with at some point in my career and that never would have happened if I wasn’t myself at work. Does that mean I am never intimidated? No. Am I ever scared to take something on? Absolutely.
One of the best things in here is when Ehm asks what’s the worst that could happen and the common answer is one bad presentation could render someone homeless. Sounds ridiculous when you type that but I think more of us have gone through thought process than not. She walks you through how to put the negative thoughts behind you, includes activities to help you do this and shows you how to be your best self.
I learned a lot from this book and had several takeaways that I wanted to start working on in the near future. I hope you check this one out and find your Swagger.
Thank you to GetRedPR and Leslie Ehm for the gifted book to review.
Who does not want to be heard, seen, and respected in the office, work world and become a better leader, someone that other people want to listen to and follow?
This is exactly what Leslie shows in her book. This book tackles a lot of what is holding you back in the workplace. However, at the same time, these principles can be applied in everyday life. Leslie starts by defining what swagger is, why it matters, what is blocking your swagger, what drives your swagger, what to do to get to your swagger, how people react to it, and how to deal with times that are bad for your swagger. Through self-reflecting exercises, you will discover how to overcome the blockers that are separating you from the world and become your best self in office.
If you are feeling unheard and not using your best potential at work, this book is for you. With Ehm’s personal experience, the examples used and the experience of her costumers, you will be equipped with the necessary tools to be yourself. Humanity, vulnerability, and authenticity are the essence of swagger. Remember, change will not happen overnight, it’s a road you have to take and endure the ups and downs.
What is the first thought that pops out in your mind when you think about the word "swagger"? Maybe arrogant? overly confident? Yes that's what I thought at first as well. However this is not what the book is about at all. Leslie Ehm aims to redefine the meaning of "swagger" in her book titled...."Swagger"! This is awesome!
Leslie defined "swagger" as "the ability to manifest the real you and hold on to it in the face of all the psychological crap that's going to come for it - regardless of the situation or environment. She shared that it is all about self-acceptance, to accept being the badass that you already are.
I have learnt a lot from this book regarding the notion of confidence and how we as individuals can actually attain them by being who we are and keeping true to ourselves. The book is structured in an interesting way and I truly felt that what Leslie is saying is what she believes is real, so she says it right to the point and straightforward, which I really appreciate because it makes every reader feels that she is actually talking to each one of us, which amplifies her message even more!
A definite must-read that will help you find your true swagger!!
The subtitle of this book packs a big promise: “unleash everything you are and become everything you want.” Who doesn’t wish for that? I was especially enthused after I heard the author’s interview on “The Unmistakable Creative” podcast. Aside from promoting her book, she spoke a lot about the pigeonholes of the educational system, and what she said rang so close to my truth, I ordered her book right away.
Unfortunately, my enthusiasm began to wane from the very beginning. She focused on developing swagger in the workplace, which is logical, but I’m no longer in the workplace, so I didn’t relate. Secondarily, I began to consider her ultimate message just another way of advising women to “lean in.” On the podcast, she described herself as a “badass marshmallow,” and that’s how she comes across in the book, too. Her tone is like an encouraging Mom, but she curses all over the place and practices the tough sport of boxing. So while she argues that putting on a persona to meet someone else’s expectations is guaranteed to fail, what does she advise us soft-spoken “good girl” women who don’t curse or box? That softness isn’t all persona and social conditioning. For some of us, it’s a reflection of our authentically gentle selves. Do I have to become her brand of badass to succeed? Isn’t that just another persona?
Because of all these doubts, I intended to give the book a 3, but the last few chapters got me enthused all over again. I even thought I should send the book to my shyest son, who, G-d willing, will begin job interviews soon. So I figured, if I’m willing to try her advice out on my own son, the book deserves 4 stars.
This book is spilt into five different sections: Why Swagger Matters, What's Blocking the Real You?, Driving the Real You Into the World, Walking, Talking, and Feeling Your Swagger, and Living Your Best Swagger Life. Each section then is composed of specific chapters. In the early part of the book there is a piece that talks about separating the Person from the Persona.
I found this book to be very easy to follow. It is important when you are reading a guidebook that the topic, tips, and information that is being discussed within the book be easy to read, understand and follow. Otherwise, what is the point if you can't understand what you are reading to use the information.
As I was reading this book, there were many times I had an "ah ha" moment and started thinking and applying what I was reading into her I was reacting and interacting with others around me.
I found this book to be a very informative and insightful book. It is helpful. Everyone could benefit from this book. I mean who does not want more swagger.
Swagger by Leslie is a inspiring book. It uncovers the ideas about being confident. People are usually crushed by other expectations. This book will help you cope up with searching the real you.
The writer is former TV host and advertise creater. She has roam around and globe and has experience in many area. The concept if serving to Mankind has resulted into this book.
This book is departed into five chapters. And the chapters are Why Swagger Matters, What's Blocking the Real You?, Driving the Real You Into the World, Walking, Talking, and Feeling Your Swagger, and Living Your Best Swagger Life. Further it has sub division in which she has explained with errorless. One can easily stuck to the end.
One of the best quote I found out in this book which is infact in the beginning chapter is, “Swagger is not about perfection. It’s about being a flawed badass.”
I haven’t read a self-help style book in a little while, I read quite a few once I learnt of their existence, but I got to a point where what I was being told was the same messages told in different ways with different example. Swagger was such a great reintroduction and showed me that self-help books can be very impactful beyond your usual get up early, invest your money, hustle until you burn-out toxic productivity vibe I get from too many.
Leslie did a great job in applying her years of knowledge as well as doing further research and bringing in scientific studies to back up the points she was making about how to build your swagger – something my psychology student mind was very drawn too. At no point did I think she was writing about something that she hadn’t learnt from her own experiences or telling you to do something that she hadn’t already done.
One of my favourite elements was the practical elements she wove into the chapters. In crucial places you have activities to complete to help you understand your own thinking, fears and actions in order to help you build your confidence and go for the things that you aspire to. I also really enjoyed the use of testimonies from so many people; they really showed that working on your own negative thought patterns and building your competence can lead to such great things.
I was especially impressed by how raw and emotional Leslie’s writing would sometimes get. I got to read a whole section about how crying is okay, and even showing your emotions in times you would think it would be considered unprofessional shows others that it’s okay to be vulnerable too. Building up your own swagger isn’t about building up walls to make everything think that you’re great, it’s about letting everyone in and showing them that you really are.
The only draw back that I found was that it was very centred on the corporate world, office and presentation style, but I understand that this is where Leslie built all her experience. Despite this, there is still so much to learn. The activities that she provides don’t apply only to your job, and I can imagine that there’s so much of this book that can be applied to everyone’s lives.
Love, can be the best defined in terms of self-love. You can love the whole wide world if that spark of embrace for yourself, glimmers inside you. Having said that, this little spark could be called "swagger" - that unreasonable, undeniable, beautiful embrace for individual identity, that's Swagger!
Reading the book, you can tell Ehm is a public speaker. She creates art through her visuals including the powerful at convey of her message - 'having swagger is not the same as being arrogant'
One of the biggest takeaways from Swagger was when Ehm said, “Insecurity is rarely about the challenge we’re about to take on- it’s the history of self-doubt that is the killer.”
For those battling self-doubt and dilemma of identity, this book seems to speak to you. It teaches the reader to open lids of individuality and let the aroma spread to the world. The book comes complete with examples and instances from the author's life to convey the importance of finding the swagger within and branding it for own's good.
The only peculiarity one might face, is the setting of the book. Though it's a self-help one, it derives a lot many examples from office or work environment, which although is where the author might have summoned the need to address her thoughts; could be a bit unrelatable to a certain clan of readers. Though it does help even otherwise, it might take more than just a breath for some to get accustomed.
However, his is a book propagates authenticity. The author writes with utmost honesty and is candid in resonating her thoughts. It teaches to overcome, but first, learn about swagger blockers including Insecurity, pain and fear. The author takes readers to unfold each layer carefully to unveil 'true self'.
While the confessional part of writing is always tough, there is a whole section dedicated about how crying is okay, and even showing your emotions and being vulnerable in times you would think it would be considered unprofessional shows others that it’s okay. The author normalizes a lot and honestly, it was much needed.
A great book overall, 'Swagger' fragments many stereotypes and is a life lesson in its own unique way.
When we talk about some non fiction the first thing comes to our kind is self-help.So basically what is self help? In layman's word It is helping ourselves at every situation or any circumstances. Isn't that true? It's like polishing ourselves to get ready for every situation. Its like revealing our real to the world in without caring what the world will think or say about us.This book is all about it. Here author Leslie Ehm addresses SWAGGER to these persons.
SWAG is the ability to present the real YOU and sticking to this mindset at every situation.Coz this will bring success after words.Starting with "Why" to "Living best swagger life" she explains a person life with minute details.Dividing the whole book into five parts she tries to reveal the inner beauty of being a Swagger.
1. Why Swagger Matters 2. What's blocking the real you? 3. Driving the real you into the world 4. Walking, Talking and Feeling your Swagger 5. Living your best Swagger life
We easily remember every matter it it relates to us Here the author has done the same by mentioning some small but powerful quotes that puts the impression in our heart to become a Swagger without self-doubt.Some are
i. Swagger is not about perfection. It’s about being a flawed badass.
ii. It’s self-acceptance, not self-assuredness.
iii. Confidence is not a “thing” to get or achieve; it’s a by-product of self-belief that stems from real competence.
iv. Humanity, vulnerability, and authenticity are the essence of swagger.
v. Don’t let the world define who you are; instead, define yourself in relation to the world.
vi. No one will ever give you opportunities if they see the cracks in your armor.
vii. But swagger is like a Star Trek force field around your true self that repels negativity and judgment and keeps it from penetrating your energy core.
Life the way it is being said that "Be the change you want to see in the world without caring what the world will address you at first", this book is about building our best version in the world. Enhancement of our inner good qualities without any fear or without losing confidence on us.
Want to become the real You this book is for you.😊
In our busy and chaotic life, we tend to forget to think about ourselves, explore ourselves, ask ourselves some important questions and eventually lose ourselves. Reading is good idea and I started several times and stopped reading. Swagger: Unleash Everything You Are and Become Everything You Want by Leslie Ehm , A book full of knowledge, interesting points, mindset, lives, society. Getting to the bottom of how to challenge the preconceptions of what you “should” and “shouldn’t” do, and navigate the professional world with authenticity and badassery is very eye opening. How a strong mindset behind all of these is the key to success. There are many chapters that amazed me in this book. Hats off to the writer. I’m now in the process of testing this new knowledge on some simple personal mindset before applying the theory to my major life challenge of being active, and should it help to achieve that, then I will have proved in the best way possible, the value of this book. Unlike some other self help books, it is not overwhelming and boring, but rather inspiring and thought provoking. It makes you think and find out about yourself; explore yourself. It brings out your innermost thoughts which you would never had thought of otherwise.
I genuinely think that this will be not only be a great gift (And, possibly life changing) for yourself, but I would certainly consider buying it for family and friends as well. Overall, an inspiring, motivating, eye-opening and thought provoking beautiful book which may potentially change your life. Good luck with your journey of self-exploration!
This is a life changing book,no doubt about it. It a must read for anyone and everyone. Deeply grateful for this wonderful book. Recommended to anyone who is looking forward for a Swagger.
Swagger: Unleash Everything You Are and Become Everything You Want
by Leslie Ehm
"As they say, the greatest inspiration you can ever have is to know that you are an inspiration to others. Wake up and start living an inspiring life." The book is a great approach to the perception of contemporary swagger and the outlook of leading with new conception and ideas without leaving the learnings and experiences from history. Swaggers are not born, they are made with the sharp edges of hardships and struggles in the today's world. The book describes the experience of swagger in making and the attributes towards the society and themself as a whole. The result oriented approach is one of the things which depicts the best of qualities in an intricate detail. The book portrays the imperfections in its most perfect of the way. Imperfections are the part of us, be it the Prime Ministers of the nations to the house heads in each of the homes. Each of the chapters of the book is backed by proper research and an engaging writing style.
The author takes the readers along the journey through her ordeals with an effective narration and a greater understanding of our living! It's not mere self help, rather this book has the beautiful concept of self awakening. 🌺
It is recommended for those who are interested in a unique perspective about life apart from the trails of ethics and morals.🧁
I'm all in for honesty and speaking up, but I’m generally not the loudest or most extroverted person in the room. I was really worried I’d struggle connecting with this book because of all the swearing and the general tone, but to my biggest surprise, I ended up loving it! This book made me want to speak up, be heard, trust who I am and what I have to offer.
"You are not your history. You are the stories you tell yourself."
It’s a real struggle for me to fake my reactions and emotions with people, on a personal and professional level. So I genuinely love the message of this book: cut the bullshit and be true to yourself and others.
"Accepting that we are works in progress gives us permission to ask for help to grow."
I’m so glad I read this book at such a young age and early stage of my career. Leslie Ehm spared many years of bullshit and pretending. Her insight and advice are gold!
➡ I liked her fear-facing game "And Then What?", where you follow the scariest version of your worst nightmare to its inevitable conclusion to put things into perspective.
"Walking into every presentation or meeting worrying about whether your message will resonate is like wearing a 'kick me' sign."
I don't connect with every self-help book I read on leadership, not many actually, but I really did with this one and I hope that you will too. Whoever you are, whatever you do, read this book!
This book talks about how "swagger" is important for anyone to achieve the level of accomplishment you want or even to develop your own character. Swagger is the power to hold on to your real self and be comfortable in your own skin, no matter what life throws at you. Swagger is the ability to get above and beyond emotional vulnerability. The book explains how it can lead you to build a new perspective in a professional capacity and towards your own self. The author talks about their own impressive experiences with various people who they helped find, as they term it- their swagger.
The book is an exceptional guide for those who want to build themselves as confident, commanding people. This book tells you how to hold a rooms attention and make your presence felt. By the means of narrating various interesting incidents and stories they experienced with clients and providing apt examples, the author explains what it is that you need to achieve your goal.
"Retrain your brain to accept what is true instead of what is imagined." The book isn't short of quotes or well written step by step guides to overcome every hurdle you might face, such as insecurity or fear. Along with helping you overcome the negatives, it also tells you how to armour up with the positives in life! The book is written in a way that it never fails to capture the readers attention, it's full of interesting graphics and certain fun "fill in the blanks" affirmations which really act as confidence boosters. This book is amazingly helpful!
"If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you."
Leslie Ehm's ideas about living with our swagger to upheld our authenticity have saved many from the downward spiral their wrong beliefs were taking them to.
Each of us has our own path to tread. But very few people in society ever get past the self-image that society bestowed upon them.
This book deals with the reason why despite being innately talented and having different abilities people never fulfill their potential. And while describing those reasons, books present the solutions to overcome them to live our best real self.
The Swagger Blockers mentioned in the book are: 1.Persona 2.Ambition 3.Insecurity 4.Fear 5.Pain
The book shares the examples of individuals who after working with Leslie got over these problems and created far more success due to accepting and living their 100% unique identity.
In spite of living with swagger, life can be difficult sometimes but there are ways in the book that manages to give you guidance on how to get past them and live your best life.
If you struggle to live with your truth, intentions, or beliefs then you are certain to find some good positive motivation and advice from this book written by a Badass but equally Caring person.
When I saw the title, SWAGGER, the first images that came to mind are a totally put together individual (you know the kind-perfect makeup, hair, and clothes, pulling up in a luxury car ) that walk in a room loud, cocky, and a know it all.
The good news is that this is not at all what the book is trying to help you become! This book embraces and challenges the reader to stop pretending who you think you should be in whatever situation you are in and become authentically you all the time.
This book is broken into 5 parts. Through real life examples and thoughtful self-reflection exercises distributed throughout each chapter, Leslie guides us to cut through the layers and defenses we have built up and find our own unique swagger.
I’m not a corporate executive..not even close. I work remotely gathering content and writing articles for a feel good monthly magazine so I wondered how this book would apply to me.
I found from reading this book that no matter what you do for your life’s work, the takeaway will be applicable. Whether you are in a Zoom meeting, running your own business, or talking to your people in your kids’ playgroup, each moment that you are authentic will help you on your swagger journey.
I learned to really reflect on the need to start aligning what I say and do with how I actually feel. I want to be genuine in whatever situation I’m in. This book has started my journey of being consistently intentionally me.
It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.
We have been majorly taught to become something but not a better self.( Better Zubair , Better alina, or better nina etc). Unfortunately if you haven’t got a positive environment that encourage you to be “you” at every so here is a book you can add to make such environment. SWAGGER by @leslieehmspeaks (Former TV host and advertising creative director)
📍This book is focusing on making you unlearn the shit you were injected by and make a better, confident and grown up person in your own unique way.
📍To do anything in your life you need an idea to execute your own actions so here this book is giving you workable ideas to be “you” yet valuable person( What else needed, right?)
📍There is a very thin line between self assuredness and self acceptance. ( It is what we have been misguided about and totally ruined our life sometimes)
📍Growth is awesome evolution is even better but it should be with a view to best excavating who you are, not changing to pleas others ( This is swagger)
What I see in Leslie’s Swagger is not at all the I-don’t-care mode, much more the let’s fight for one another, bring each other alive mode, with bloom, fun, connection. She’s got a fierce social intelligence in service to the whole even in corporate settings. Not a proponent of better safe than sorry, or the corporate mask, but also in service to your own creativity, humanity, and whatever personally drives you. She’s smart enough, and respectful enough never to forget that people cannot help but listen for what will be good for themselves: survival instinct governs personal and species behavior. But she brings equal application to creative endeavor of all sorts, knows that creativity is shared truth. Else no one will hear it. There will be no receptors on which to land. She has, and lobbies for a keen sense of context: Why? Where? When? And for whom? And she’s as fierce as a mother bear about all of it? And very detailed, psychologically, about your movement through it. Leslie, in her what-you-see-is-what-you-get, one-truth/one-heart, not extra fancy/ just real style wants us to all come alive for all our sakes. Much fun factor on the way. I first heard her on Srinivas Rao’s Unmistakable Creative Podcast, August 26th, continued on August 28th. Then read the book on Kindle. Then listened to her reading it on Kindle. Then listened to the podcasts another two times. And replayed her reading of the book. Then reread the book. Then participated in a Zoom room with her and Srini, and other members of Unmistakable Prime. The woman is real. She wants you to be too. (Me: aka pbreiter, Peter, Peter B., Peter B. Reiter).
If you feel not so good about yourself that you are not good enough, you are not valuable, or your life is a mess, then this is a definite read for you. Bring back your swag with the swagger it’s a perfect guide to gain confidence. Want to become your true self pick up your copy of the book and get set go.
I highly recommend this book if you going through self-doubts because of your flaws. You will definitely feel a change within you.
The title and cover are catchy and suit perfectly. Engaging and simple writing of the book gave the grip to its reader. The tips and information discussed in the book are very easy to understand and follow. The book is very insightful. I love how this book is more of self-awareness rather than just another self-help book. My most favorite quote from the book was “Swagger is not about perfection. It’s about being a flawed badass.”
𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍 📒 To gain confidence and how to being comfortable in your own skin. 📒 How to become badass with your flaws. 📒 Discover your true self to be more confident and feel the empowerment within you.
Oscar Wilde said, “Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.”
Every single one of us comes into this world a swagger-filled badass. We are born fearless and curious, authentic and honest. And then life takes over and begins the slow, inexorable process of kicking the shit out of our confidence. It can happen in tiny degrees or all at once as a result of trauma, loss, or abuse (and sometimes we don’t even notice that happening). Most of us can’t pin the moment to an event or experience.
The author @leslieehmspeaks with this book helps the reader tap into and release the true swagger within us as a conscious act. This version of you is the one who feels free to speak and act without self-consciousness, fear of judgment, and constant nagging self-doubt.
The author speaks about the swagger blockers: Persona Ambition Insecurity Fear Pain
After overcomming these swagger blockers, the real you is revealed. She explains in detail about the key swagger drivers sitting at the very core of the real you: Truth, Intention, and Self-Belief.
"Swagger means going beyond mere acceptance of all your quirks and idiosyncrasies into embracing and celebrating the shit out of them.”
A must read to pump up yourself and feel more confident in being yourself. @bookstarpr @leslieehmspeaks #bookstarpr
I must confess one thing: this book has deeply moved me! I have often compared my own path with that of others, especially in times of difficulty. I also admit that I have always looked with a certain envy at people who seemed to be always at ease, at any time and in any situation!
I was convinced that swagger was an innate gift and that I simply didn't have it! However, Leslie Ehm dismantled this belief bit by bit and made me think about the true meaning of swagger!
We tend to think that only those who never make mistakes, who never show their weaknesses are strong, but in fact not only is the opposite true, but this attitude can also be counterproductive!
Learning is more difficult if you don't ask, if you never make mistakes! So why don't we stop pretending to be someone we don't feel we are and start walking the path of authenticity?
Swagger is an amazing book about being confident and being magnetic and how to be utterly comfortable in being yourself. Read book to know all.
It is very intriguing and kept you hooked and there is no way you're gonna put it down easily.
It's not a book which you should quickly read and finished it. It's one of the book which you should read slowly chapter by chapter and try to enforce the lesson which are in the book
Author has narrated this story very nicely and also writing style is very nice and error free. It's writing in a very simple way which makes it easier for all kinds of reader.
Title of the book is very nice and it's a highlight for me.
The cover of the book is simple still looks very interesting.
Overall it's an amazing read and I would highly recommend this book to all the readers.
So the book is based on swagg and it means the way you represent your confidence in particular way to show everyone what thinks you should do. If you take that seriously and that's the book shows.
The book tell you that what blocking you to becoming you and present your self as. What you are without fearing that what people think about you and that's the beauty of book.
It can show how to overcome from your fear, pain and what stoping you to becoming you and after all that when you understand and you will see you also became like Swagger like the author says.
Thus the author says "Unleash everything you are and become everything you want" by LESLIE EHM for that you need to read this book " SWAGGER".
Swagger is the self help book I didn’t know I needed. Although directed more towards those in a corporate setting, Swagger is for anyone who needs a reset in how they view their own worth. One of my biggest takeaways from Swagger was this quote, “Insecurity is rarely about the challenge we’re about to take on- it’s the history of self doubt that is the killer.” As someone who struggles with self doubt I felt like Leslie wrote that directly for me.
Reading Swagger, you can tell Ehm is a public speaker. The visuals included are so powerful at conveying her message, I put this book down wanting to attend one of her talks! I also loved the breakdown of having swagger is not the same as being arrogant. Loving yourself and knowing your worth should never have a negative connotation.
I don’t want to give away too much, but this book resonated with me. I wish someone had handed me a copy of this in high school and said “Girl, you may be pigeon toed and directionally challenged but you need to own those mean doubtful voices in your head and learn to laugh more and love yourself.” Or something like that 😬
Definitely check out Swagger for the pep talk we all need and the tried and true advice to be your best self!
Swagger by Leslie Ehm is a self-help book for anyone who is feeling unheard and anyone who is not feeling confident. It was really interesting for me to read about swagger blockers that are holding me back and the drivers that bring me all of the success that I have dreamed of. The book guides you to discover your swagger and provides exercises that help you overcome these swagger blockers. As a self-help book reader, I found this book very well written and inspirational. Many Thanks to Suzanne Leopold for having me on this tour.
You know, I always say that I'm done with "self help" books... and then I go and stumble across this book and change my tune. This book has such great tips that everyone can learn from. I didn't think it was for me because I'm not in the corporate world. Far from it actually... I'm a stay at home mom at the moment and I still connected to it! It's brilliant!
The entire focus of the book is basically how to be authentically, unapologetically YOU! That each person is unique and that's important to the world. That underneath all of the layers we all protect ourselves with, there's the real version of you just dying to come out.
Seriously, pick this up! Confidence issues, self perception issues, "fake it til you make it syndrome", give this a read. You won't be sorry!
Swagger is an amazing book which will definitely help you in gaining confidence and being comfortable in your own skin.
The concept of the book is really nice and i really loved it. But it's a type of book which need more thought process as if you're reading this book means you want to gain something from this in your personal life or professional life in order to get success. It also guided us on how can we implement it for our betterment.
The writing style of author is simple and engaging and that made the book gripping. Chapters are small and divided in five parts.
The concept can take little time in order to implement in your life. As this is not just a book which you can read and enjoy just to pass some time. It will really help in your overall personality development.
The title and cover is catchy and suits perfectly.
I highly recommend this book to all the young readers who are starting off and also to person who is low on confidence and want to get that swag.😎 . . . Ratings 4/5
