★ ★ ★ ★ ★ HE HAS BEEN HURT TOO MANY TIMES. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Billionaire Davis Lucas came from nothing. A street kid who clawed and scraped his way through life, Luc could now say he has everything. Except for the baby sister he'd lost years ago. She was his only real family.
He's never stopped searching.
When he finds her working for the FBI at the St. Louis PAVAD division, there is nothing he won't do to protect her. From his enemies--or her own.
Someone out there knows everything about Luc. And they will use that information against him however they can. Luc has no intention of letting them win. Not now that the stakes are too high. No one will ever hurt his sister again.
★ HIS SECRET IS DISCOVERED BY HIS SISTERS' BEST FRIEND... ★
Dr. Payton Asher is the kind of woman only a worthy man dreams about. She is good, innocent, and beautiful. And one of his sister's best friends. She has no business showing up at his home well past the time good girls should be in bed...
As the shy Payton confronts him, he realizes the truth: he wouldn't mind having her in his bed at all. And damn the consequences.
★ HE MEANS TROUBLE. ★
Payton knows better than to fall for a man like Luc. That way just means trouble she is nowhere near prepared for. Their worlds would never collide. Then Payton stumbles right into Luc's darkest secret, leaving him no choice but to protect her at any cost.
Calle Jaye is fun, playful, ironic, professional and sophisticated. She’s super-educated in the field of fiction and would spend most of her time walking around in “Book World” (or”eBook World”).
Does she have slight control freak tendencies? Yep. Why else would she chose to self-publish?
In her day job she gets to read romance novels. In her night job she gets to write them!
Her favorite color is bold purple. She likes rock like Kid Rock, Shinedown, and Nickelback. Add in a bit of Anastacia and Adelle, too.
She collects rocks. Watches crime dramas. Abhors Lifetime Movies and Titanic (especially Leo…) and refuses to read or write about sparkly teen vampires.
She’s married to a cop she strongly suspects is a vampire. They’ve made vampire babies, too.
They live in Indiana with their vampire relatives and their vampire dogs.
Redeeming is PAVAD: FBI—Prevention & Analysis of Violent Acts Division #7 by Calle J Brookes. Billionaire David Lucas knows firsthand the dangers of being bought and sold because his parents only considered him and his sister commodities; when he could, he went out and helped other children who had fallen through the cracks. However, Dr Payton Asher came across David Lucas's secret and became a prime target for his enemies, and he had to drop everything to protect her. The readers of Redeeming will continue to follow David Lucas and De Payton Asher to discover what happens.
The book's unique blend of suspense, romance, and social issues captivates me and keeps me turning the pages. Redeeming is a fantastic addition to Calle J. Brookes's excellent PAVA series. I love her writing style and the way she portrays her characters and their interactions throughout this book. Redeeming is well-written and researched. I like Calle J. Brookes's description of the settings of Redeeming, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.
Readers of Redeeming will be immersed in law enforcement investigations, gaining a unique perspective on the role of a handwriting expert. The book also illuminates the harsh realities of child labour, a pervasive issue affecting many children. This intriguing blend of suspense and social issues makes for a compelling and thought-provoking read.
I found this one hard to get into. It sort of jumped right into things and since I don't really remember much about either Lucas or Payton from the other books, it fell kind of flat. This one is set concurrently with book six, Running and fills in what some of the other agents were doing at the same time Alessandra was off finding evidence, before branching forwards.
I didn't really understand Lucas. He was all about caring for his sister but then doesn't bother to keep in touch? It was just weird. Why not just keep watch over her then? Instead he completely abandoned her.
Plus I didn't like his initial thoughts about Payton. He apparently picked her because she wasn't super attractive. I mean, I kind of want my book boyfriend to have a bit more depth and to think the world of their one true love and whatnot.
Then about halfway through the plot just fell apart on me. I did like the inclusion of Mick Brockman being asked to help but then it never really went anywhere. I thought I'd get some scenes with him and Paige and conversation or protection or something but it never eventuated.
The romance between Luc and Payton was kind of meh. I just didn't like either of them, I didn't understand either of them and they kind of just jumped from not liking each other to getting married. There was no relationship development. And there were some time skips which just didn't work for me.
Not my favourite PAVAD book, but I'm looking forward to the next one with Paige and Mick. 2 stars.
Talk about stubborn! These two people are of the toughest crop.
Payton has a past that she isn't over yet. She doesn't want anyone new in her life and have to explain her past.
Luc had a past that had it's monsters, really, so he doesn't understand love and how to love someone. He can save them, but can he love them?
Take this journey with Luc and Payton as they try to rectify their past so they can be the best of themselves.....with each other or without each other.
I have to say, this series is getting kind of boring the last two installments were so blah, blah, blah. The two MC, Payton and Luc are sooo annoying and unlikable. The only reason I've been continuing with the series is I want to get to Paige and Mick. Finally, the next book is about them. After that, I'm done with this series.
This series is outstanding. Each entry gets better and better. While it deals with the less than stellar side of life, the good guys win. Battered and bloody, but they win and in this day and time, we need to see the good guys winning. Thank you, Calle Brookes for these great books!
I really didn't like the hero. What kind of guy tracks down a long lost sister and then doesn't try to reconnect with her? A jerk, that's who. And Payton was just a little too blah for me. I'd give this zero stars if I could.

I wasn't sure at first about this book. Luc was a very different character than we've seen in this series, but I grew to love him and his relationship with Payton. I have high hopes for Paige and Luc to build a sibling relationship.
Another great story from Calle J Brookes! As always she never lets me down, Calle's books 📚 are always the best! This one was cute 🥰! I love ❤️ that Paige found her brother, and sweet little Peyton finds her mate 😜! And it happens to be the same guy!!!
Callie J. Brookes is a master of suspense, action and romance. This latest installment in the PAVAD series ties up loose ends but there are new threads that keep you ready to jump right into the next book.
You just can’t not enjoy one of these books. The investigations, the chemistry, the bonds that make up a family and the love found along the way. Everything is just brilliant and keeps you coming back for more. Luc & Payton will leave you smiling.
I just finished reading this book and it was awesome from beginning to end! The characters are interesting and the dynamic between them was captivating.
This book is a romantic suspense novel about Davis "Luc" Lucas a/k/a Lucian Daviess and Payton Asher getting together with each other. This book is a great story. HEA
Luc is a millionaire who can buy anything he needs except the woman he is falling in love with. He is lonely and surrounds himself with bodyguards. Her has one true friend in Cody and has suddenly taking a liking to Payton and has a sister who he hard yet yo inform her exists.
All of those dynamics change in one way or another when Luc and two other lives are at stake because he has disrupted a human trafficking ring.
The ramifications stretch wide in regard to the trafficking ring and his relationships with three special woman.
