101 Craft and World Whiskies to Try Before You Die

Rate this book
Discover the exciting new world of craft distillers and whiskies from around the world in Ian Buxton's brilliant new addition to his 101 Whiskies series.

From Austria to Argentina and Norway to New Zealand, the world of whisky is expanding as we have never seen before. Distilleries as far away as Taiwan and as close to home as England are reinventing what whisky means - and an iconoclastic generation of boutique, craft distillers are challenging previous orthodoxies and teasing drinkers with their exciting new styles and radical releases.

101 Craft & World Whiskies to Try Before You Die is an up-to-the-minute guide from bestselling whisky commentator Ian Buxton, author of the popular 101 Whiskies series, and the first independent assessment of this global drinks revolution.

Guaranteed to appeal equally to whisky aficionados and new enthusiasts in search of a trusty and well-informed guide, Ian Buxton's wonderful new handbook is delivered in his trademark irreverent and trenchant style. There's a whole world of whisky to be discovered, free of bagpipes and heather and far from leather-clad fireside armchairs, that's overturning tradition.

Taken neat or over ice, 101 Craft & World Whiskies will blow the cobwebs off your dram.

Another great whisky/whiskey book by the author showing some great whiskies from around the world. Like his other book he does not rate them and he does not even like all the different styles he includes, but he includes them as they are great whiskies that caters to all whisky drinkers' and non drinkers' taste. Each of the 101 has a great part written about the whisky and its history with whitty comments from the author, and a picture of the bottle. The whisky world is very interesting at the moment with lots of new distilleries popping up in countries without a big whisky heritage and I cannot wait to see what comes in the next few years. Highly recommended book with some great insights and ideas to get for your next dram.

This book is a fun guide for people who like to drink Whiskey, but don’t know which one to buy, firstly not to be slighted by the real Whiskey connoisseurs and secondly not to have to sell their kidney to buy one.
There are lots of fun facts about the Whiskeys, their price range and availability and how they taste and look like.
This book is a good reference for those who travel to Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Japan, etc. and are more interested in visiting the distilleries than doing the boring tourist thing other tourists normally do.
This book was recommended to me, Whiskey being the favorite drink of mine.
I admit I had never heard about some of the Whiskeys mentioned in the book, but quite enjoyed reading about them.

So much whiskey, so little time…

I love this little book. It foregoes the usual whiskey brands and concentrates on whiskies from outside the five traditional whiskey nations. And there are quite a few. Those inclusions from within the big five are limited to craft labels only.

The writing is excellent and there are no ratings - the readers are expected to judge for themselves, based on their own taste palette.

Recommend.
