Death is only the beginning. Odin has spent thousands of years moving pieces across the board to prepare for the day a blood witch is born who will be his downfall. Mika Marshall may be the last blood witch, but she isn’t sure she has the magic or strength to take down a god who’s been stealing power for longer than the devil’s been alive.
The Morrigan has made Mika into her heir, and while the future may not be clear, one thing is for sure, she is the only one with the skillset required to take Odin apart and destroy him…if she can get close enough to make him bleed.
Will Mika be able to fulfill the prophecy, or will the apocalypse they’ve all been trying so hard to prevent finally sink the earth into hell?
Soooo my review is kind of for the whole series which I loved too freaking much rather than for Wicked Queen.
This whole series built me,broke me, wrecked me, and recreated me. There was a lot of to and fro between reading book 1 of University of Morgana Series and the Chaos of Foxes and This is Bandit territory series. The series was so well written. From character development to plots and twists and sex scenes (not tooo much that it becomes monotonous and not too less. MM scenes were were downright panty melting and each sex scene was different from the last)
I really don't know what to say about Mika since no matter how many adjectives I would be using, it would never be able to convince my love, adoration and respect for Mika and her men. Mika was the epitome of lethal strength, bravery ,hope, love, courage, resilience and inner beauty. She bloomed beautifully like a thorny rose. I loved her beautiful transformation from the witch to the goddess she is.
Ethan took my breath from the first time itself. That guy is legitly a pschyo and stupidly too brave. His strength and his major part in helping the bonding between Mika's men just makes me love him more. Lucien was the mischievous , jester of the group (Like Finnick) who could turn deadly in the blink of an eye like the hunter he is. My initial reaction towards Corbin was irritation and kind of hate because of his so called "bodyguard" duty but that guy grew on me. Dagon was too a case of love at first sight for me with his sweet gentle eyes and lethality. Malachi was the one who kept giving me the whiplash between dissapointment, anger, exasperation and finally total love and respect for him and feeling moronic and asshole for myself
Audrey was another one I soo soo soo loved. Initially I thought that she would be a bitch girl with her straight forwardness but then I kept wishing that I too get lucky enough to get a best friend cum sister like her(since mine is like Claire 😖😓). I loved her amazing comrade with Ash and Finnick with Ash being the protective big bro and Fin and AUD being the naughty, pain in the ass , adorable younger siblings.
I started liking Hunter only towards the end of book 2 in the Chaos of Foxes series because of his bull headedness. That guy was like devoid of human emotions except showing it towards Ash and Finnick, worse than initial Corbin. I would have to say that Kenzie did the impossible and made his heart bigger and kinder without making him loose his scary, intimidating persona, which we can clearly see in this series. I loved and respected the hell out of this Hunter, honestly it was because of him I left reading book 1 of this series and start reading his series first. The way he mentored Mika, helped her in overcoming her difficulties, insecurities, block and turning her into a deadly weapon made me respect him. His role as his elder brother made me soo happy and gleeful. I always loved the fatal but mischievous racoons and Emily from their series but this series certainly made me fall harder for them.
Jessica and Lucifer's intro into the series were nothing short of hilarious with typical Mika handing the devil his ass. I would always love Hunter's and Mika's relationship a tad bit more than Lucifer and her relation but nevertheless it was still a beautiful and lovely relation (makes me envious of Mika) Emily and the amazing Eisheth were like Doctor Strange to me with their reality seeing and trying to prevent the worst. Eisheth was plain cool, badass and awe inducing with his love towards his lost girls and sassy funny attitude.
I would say that Mika became my most favourite fmc of all time amongst PNR novels and yet it would not be enough to describe my love and respect depths towards her. I have read alot of pnr novels and series with amazing kick-ass , brave , resilient fmc but the way Mika made me feel for her was otherworldly, in a nutshell.
Nowww I hope , and wish and pray that the author is reading my review, it would be less likely but what's the big deal to hope for something good. If she reading I hope she reads till the end including the SPOILERS part. Pretty please 😁😊respected author Emma Dean want the author to read this review which not only conveys my feelings but my whole book club and friend circles, who read and devoured the series like me. Dear author , why , just why did the book 9 had to end like that. If I was not horny or happy I was crying and bawling and sobbing like a baby for Azrael.😭😭😢😢💔💔
This book should have come with a warning. I was reading it at work during my lunch break, and that was way too hot to be reading in public. This book just went for it. I feel like the first 100 pages was a single sex scene/orgy that just kept going. I’ll tell you what though, this book had the most epic of final fight scenes in all final fight scenes. It was massive and worth the build-up. Nothing was easy and things went wrong and It. Was. Amazing.
I LOVED this series so much, and this book was kinda a let down. It really bothered me that this the sex was like really extreme. PLEASE don't get me wrong I love the smut just like everyone else. But it was the MM, like there was a little in some of the other books which is great but in this book the very last book of the series its like the author just said let there be MM everywhere. It also bothered me how she had gotten so confident in the other books and then in this one she has no faith in her self.
Still love this series and will most definitely reread and I highly recommend anyone read it.
Highly dangerous series. One heck of a book hangover
I'm devastated. It wasn't the HEA I was hoping for, but I can't deny it was fitting. This authoress has a fantastic world in her head that she has translated into words brilliantly for her readers. I loved the whole series I read another of her series that tied in with this one and I highly enjoyed it so I looked up other works by the same author and started this series. I've barely slept last 2 night's as I've stayed awake lost in the story and devoured the whole series. I couldn't tear myself away. Brilliant
I've really enjoyed this series with it's multiple paranormal creatures, different worlds and crazy gods.
I'm happy with how this story has it's storylines finished up but I'm not rating it the full 5 stars because a good 40% of this long book was just sex, with some overly drawn out bonding between the harem members which totally drew you out of the endgame.
This last book ripped me to absolute shreds! I've stayed up reading till 2 am because I needed to know if they would win. After all their preparations, the final battle is here. What are they willing to sacrifice? Gut-wrenching, edge of your seat reading with some delicious spicy scenes as well. Absolute master work!
The Battle scenes in this book are phenomenal. It almost felt like I was there and could feel everything. The description is so detailed, yet so light and comprehendible, It keeps the interest even after 8 books. One of the best series I've ever read. A must read for those who love paranormal/RH/ violence books.
I have to say that this ended pretty much perfectly! I managed not to cry somehow, though I think normally I would have. I just kept telling myself things would be fine!
I like how the war didn't only last 10 pages, like some stories do. There's 3ish books leading up to this great battle, then 3-10 pages later, max, it's over. This one had more and more complications, which considering the huge build up and all that was going on with the villain was much more appropriate and "realistic" in this world.
I WAS disappointed in one of the main deaths (avoiding spoilers!), but, considering the end result for Mika and her blood bound mates, I get it, and it's actually pretty sweet.
I was curious what would happen with Selene and Matthew (I'm sure that's obvious, by now, and I'm finally over the fact he's not going to end up with Mika) and Samuel (if you read the Fox Chaos books, you'll probably remember he wanted to sniff Selene to see if she may be his mate, so clearly he wants to find her!), but at the end of this book it says they'll have their own series! :)
Now that I'm finally done these books, maybe I'll be productive around my house and get some sleep, lol. Until I decide to start another series of course!
4.25 stars - A bit of a bittersweet ending but also totally epic. Such a big battle 9 books in the making and it was definitely of that calibre and written so well. Sad about those we lost though, they were so needed by Mika and I’m sad for her loss, like girl has been through enough already.
Love the touch with Kenzie and her chaos and that look into their future, the biggest thing I’ve loved about this series is all the friendships and family bonds between different groups and different series.
Lucifer’s bond with Mika is my fave, their dynamic is the perfect sibling adorableness and just fun too. I’m definitely going to be reading his series with Jess, I want to know her secret still and read their love story !
I’ve really enjoyed this series, I give it like 4-4.5 overall. The plot, the magic, the FOUND FAMILY and the love were so beautiful and enjoyable to read. I hope I see Mika and her bonds in future books !
My only thing is that for how long this book is compared to others in the series, the very end felt a little rushed almost? There were no more conversations between Mika and her allies, like Jess or Emily or Kenzie or anyone other than her mates really? Or processing about Morgana, Mor & Aine? Maybe because we’ll see her in the future?
This series is like 99% perfect and awesome. This book however does go a little unnecessarily and excessively into the bedroom scenes to a point that it feels out of sync with the rest of the series. It also makes an already dragging series end with an excessively drawn out ending because these scenes crop up right when you want some battle style action, not bedroom style. Add in obvious clues ignored by the FMC and one loss too many, and I will be cuddling this grudge for a while.
Overall though, despite my snit, this is a good book in an otherwise excellent series - great FMC, great guys, strong female friendships and support systems on top of a really unique storyline with really interesting complex mythology use. It's got some drama and trauma but love and humor threads throughout as we.
You can tell the dragged out series was a slightly rushed job at the end because this is the first book with multiple obvious typos. Forgivable and readable but earlier books in the series are higher quality editing.
I can't say it was my favourite ending to a series but I also have to admit that's probably also because I would have happily read 8 other books with these main characters.
I think the universe is awesome and I like how all encompassing it is, with all kinds of paranormal races and different pantheons.
Mika finally started accepting herself a lot more for real in this last book and I liked seeing that.
Now one to read about Emily and her raccoons, I love raccoons, they're so wacky.
After that one I suppose it's Jess her story?
Honestly I'm hoping that there will be lots of books to come in this universe and I'll eventually all want them in physical form.
i’m definitely an emma dean fan. i devoured this series! the final book took me a little time to get through because it’s (understandably) longer than the others, and i didn’t want it to end. emma ties it all up very nicely! the universe she created and the different threads of everyone shone very beautifully in these books. really excited to continue reading her other books in this universe! now … mika had some frustrating bits and ~that~ part towards the end of this book ripped me up, but wow it ended so beautifully and emma made sure all the pieces fit in a way that made sense, so thank you for that emma! i think i would re-read parts of this again perhaps! but it was definitely good enough to want to talk about it with my friends.
This is the only one not on audible. It’s a three star because of all the un a living in the ending. Why couldn’t they just have added Azreal to the harem? Why not just use the bad guy as the sacrifice so they can all be immortal…he had been stealing power for ages. Why Azreal he was a good character and he loved her. And in this book they go from being bros to every love scene heavy mm. I miss when rh was all about the fmc. One of the good things is the fmcs attitude change from the beginning of the series she went from a snappish snob to a kick butt fmc who actually can be around ppl. She did back pedal in one book after the Claire incident (eye roll) Claire was a 💩 character we didn’t need to waste time on this.
The ninth and final book for Mika and her mates. This is filled with so much. Action, danger, mystery, romance all told with some amazing characters that bring gods and goddesses from different pantheons together. And the heat does get pretty intense. Trying to save the world and keep those she loves alive may not be possible. There will be death and more than one way as Mika herself is part of death. It is one insanely good series and can’t wait to read more as the other series that connect to it continue on. We might even see some of the main characters from this one make an appearance in them.
I've re-read some of these books a few times but this one almost made my heart stop. It was so intense (as usual)you that at times I had to get up and get away to just digest some of it and still my anxiety. Whew! I know its not done yet and I'm not ready to walk away from this world yet. As long as Eisheth still has some worry in his eyes I will be here til the end.
God I love Emma Dean. She is always a one click for me. I loved her Draga series, loved Kenzie’s series, loved Emily’s series but I really really loved this Wicked series. Just brilliant. Not the ending I expected and I will admit to a few tears that may have been shed in this last book but it all came together and fit perfectly. Loved every one of the 9 books in this series
This book wrapped up the series so amazingly well. But I am emotionally destroyed as well. That first “snap” I closed my phone and said “I swear to God! There’s no absolute way she would do this to us!” And I was right. But I didn’t think she would hurt us and heal us even more at the same time. This will take time to recover from but lord have mercy it was an amazing roller coaster ride of emotions.
perfect love found amidst gods and paranormals chaos
Last book in an amazing series full of laughter and heartache and the discovery of what family really means. Beliefs from so many religions and eras woven together seamlessly to create a believable fantasy world. Definitely start at book 1 and I highly recommend reading the connected series (officially comes before this series but not required) about Kenzie and the foxes as well.
Wicked Queen, book nine of the University of Morgana: Academy of Enchantments and Witchcraft series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). This nine-book series earned a total of forty-five starts. The action started in book one, the secrets and surprise reveals kept me glued to the series, and the writer maintained the thrills, reveals, and relationships through each installment. Stellar ending. Thanks for the ride.
This series gets you coming and going, it hooked me quickly. I love how much these books tow the line of YA/NA but have some TW/18+ areas. The book brings all urban fantasy into play: shifters, vampires, witches, elemental magic, water magic, and of course blood magic. If any of that interests you you really need to check this series out.
This was the final book in the series. Boy was it outstanding. You learn so much throughout that made you go hmmm. The story made laugh, cry hysterically and the sob happily all amongst a bloody war that finally came. So many strings involved in the present and future. I can’t say enough about this book and series but definitely must read.
It was an amazing serious. I am sorry to see it end. Though tired the end it did have me cry a little. I love how it ended. Even though one of my favorite characters died, he really didn’t. It was like the best of both ways.
Thank you for a wonderful series. Look forward to checking out the next couple of books in this world.
I liked how this pulled the precious 8 books together, although the last few pages felt a little brief.
The series was fantastic, very well researched with all of the various gods, but it was a little difficult for me to keep up with alllllll of the characters in play!!
I absolutely enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down until I was finished. I love the characters and it was a nice ending for this series. I can’t wait to discover if there will be some more books in this universe, maybe Selene‘s story, at some point. 5 stars for sure and it will be on my list of books to re-read at some point.
I teared up a little at some of the previous books, but this one had me SOBBING. A fantastic series, I'm heartbroken and healed all at once. Mika came such a long way and I feel like a proud older sister watching her grow and become who she was meant to be. Even with all the mess ups from Fate.
Such a fitting ending to such an epic series. I’m sad its ending, but oh my gosh. This book had me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails wondering how things would turn out. It brought all the emotions out.
I've been waiting for this series to end because I was on the edge of my sit wanting to know how the story ends. But now that it has ended I want more. This was amazing, incredible, wonderful from start to finish. Thank you Emma Dean for this great journey.
This is a gorgeously written series that I devoured as quickly as possible. I didn’t think Kenzie’s story could be topped, but I was wrong. Can’t wait for Emma’s next completed series.
It must have been a mammoth task pulling together all of the threads in this series, along with the other concurrently running ones, but Emma has done an amazing job. Tense from start to finish, but with so many beautiful moments.
