In the third installment of the exciting Dragon Kingdom of Wrenly graphic novel series, Ruskin and his friends compete in the legendary Night Hunt.
Ruskin is excited to visit Crestwood to witness a very special event, the Night Hunt, and to root for his new best friends Cinder and Groth as they compete in the exciting contest. But then Ruskin is chosen to compete, too, even though, according to the rules, he shouldn’t be allowed since he doesn’t live in Crestwood. Cinder thinks Ruskin had something to do with this special treatment and that, as the legendary scarlet dragon, Ruskin cares more about glory than he should. But is that really who Ruskin is?
It’s game on as these friends compete against each other for the ultimate prize. What they don’t realize is that nothing about this Night Hunt will follow the rules, and once again, the fate of Wrenly is at stake. Can they put aside their differences and work together before it’s too late?
This is the third instalment in the Dragon Kingdom of Wrenly graphic novel series. In this book, Ruskin returns. This time Ruskin is excited to visit Crestwood to witness a very special event, the Night Hunt, and to root for his new best friends Cinder and Groth as they compete in the exciting contest. But then unexpectedly Ruskin is chosen to compete, too, even though, according to the rules, he shouldn’t be allowed to as he doesn’t live in Crestwood. Cinder thinks Ruskin had something to do with this special treatment and that, as the legendary scarlet dragon, Ruskin cares more about glory than he should. But is that really who Ruskin is?

This third book in the series introduces a bit of a conflict between the original besties. It’s hard to Ruskin feeling like Groth and Cinder think he has ulterior motives, and also feeling like they are against him. The last two adventures, the three young dragons have worked together to save Wrenly or Crestwood or Shadowhills. This time, they are split up. Of course, eventually they work things out and end up saving the world together. They also discover who is really getting involved behind the scenes and causing all the problems. It wasn’t a surprise to me, but of course it was a surprise to the little dragons. It will be interesting to see how they deal with this moving forward in the next books. This one had the same enjoyable tension and adventure and found family friendship. And I still find the dragons so damn cute!
Oh wow, the third Dragon Kingdom of Wrenly book is super cool! It's all about this thing called the Night Hunt, and it's like a big competition. Ruskin and his friends, Cinder and Groth, are all excited to join in and have fun.
But guess what? Ruskin, who's like a legendary scarlet dragon, gets chosen to compete even though he's not supposed to because he doesn't live in Crestwood. Cinder thinks Ruskin did something sneaky to get in, and they start thinking maybe Ruskin cares too much about winning and being famous.
So, they all compete against each other, but then they find out the Night Hunt is not following the rules! It's a big adventure, and they have to figure out how to work together and save Wrenly. The pictures in the book are awesome, and I really liked how they learned about friendship and teamwork. If you like dragons and exciting contests, you should totally read this one!
Take a sometimes helpful villain from My Little Pony (Discord, right down to the twisting goat-like horns), a magical fire that spits out the wrong contestant names, causing discord between best mates Ron and Harry (er, Cinder and Ruskin), throw in some food from Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a little homage to Indiana Jones, a red moon from a dozen different stories, and you have an unoriginal but cute graphic novel that little kids will enjoy. Really, the series as a whole draws a lot of visual inspiration from MLP and The Land Before Time; I wonder a little if the dragons will be too cute for some readers, but this particular installment does balance that out with a particularly creepy addition. To sum up, the first of these books proved pretty popular in the few months we've had it, and I don't think that will change with the sequels.
This is a fun compendium to the regular Kingdom of Wrenly series. The characters are cute and interesting and the graphics bold and simple. The language is uncomplicated and the plot easy to follow. I was startled that the plot was almost exactly the same as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (down to the best friend dragon getting mad that his unqualified bestie was unknowingly placed in the contest…) Regardless, and throwing copyright to the wind, it is a lovely, easy read.
This story felt a lot like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.. a LOT like it. The story of the dragon king who conjured the Ghost Dragon to protect his kingdom was creative and different. This element of the story made it more unique and magical. The fourth friend (Roke) being added to their circle of friends was refreshing and my kids and I are looking forward to learning more about this pirate-dragon as the Dragon Kingdom graphic novels continue.
Soar into an enchanting adventure in the Night Hunt Dragon Kingdom! This captivating book 3 in the Wrenly series weaves a delightful tale of friendship and fantastical creatures. The vibrant graphics bring the mystical world to life, making it easy to get lost in the pages. While the pacing may drag at times, the heartwarming bond between the characters shines through. A must-read for any young reader craving an imaginative escape!
This is such a fun, sweet series. This volume follows Ruskin and his friends as they compete in the Night Hunt, a competition of wits and skill. Ruskin wasn’t supposed to compete, but it wouldn’t be an adventure if he didn’t. The book also deals with jealousy and what that can do between friends
Like Harry Potter, Ruskin the Red Dragon is some sort of chosen one, and this volume is the Goblet of Fire - no wait, the Night Hunt! I think boys who like dragons or outdoor adventures would enjoy this, probably in grades 3-5th. I wish it was published when my sons were that age.
I always let my daughter rate books that I read aloud to her. Sometimes I don't agree with her ratings, but on these I totally do. I love all of Quinn's work.
The story was very much like HP and the Goblet of Fire. Ruskin wasn't allowed to be part of the contest but someone sinister enters his name in, which makes Ruskin's best friend angry and jealous. Hmm.
I think that cinder was so rude to Ruskin and so competitive and like uncalled for and she is so mean so she didn’t even think so she let a ghost dragon out and all most killed roke

ABOUT 'NIGHT HUNT': A beloved Crestwood tradition pits friend against friend . . . Ruskin is very excited to root for his best friends, Cinder and Groth, as they compete in the legendry Night Hunt. But when Ruskin is chosen to compete too - in defiance of the rules - Cinder refuses to believe that Ruskin had nothing to do with the trickery. It's game on as the dragons compete with one another for the ultimate prize. What they don't realise is that nothing about this Night Hunt will follow the rules . . . and, once again, the fate of Wrenly is at stake.
MY THOUGHTS: I like the story because there is a competition that they have to complete. There is trouble when Cinder opens the door, and the ghost dragon comes on out and causes problems. My favorite character in this book was the ghost dragon because it was a white sneaky dragon that no one could see. It has an amazing plot, and it has also got amazing illustrations and the story is easy to follow. I really like this series and want to read the rest of the books.
(SANDY) This is Luke's favorite book of the series so far, and the one I liked least, although it does have a good moral to the story which focuses on friendship and the effects of jealousy. We are going to continue with this series next time Luke comes to stay.
This was super cute! I loved jumping back in with Ruskin, Cinder, and Groth and their adventures. They are the cutest dragon friends ever and I can’t wait to see what mess they get into next!
OK, Roke is a dragon among dragons. Still waiting for some back story besides the whole eye thing, but SERIOUSLY. I didn't think a character from these kid books would have me so intrigued. Top three dragons (SO FAR): #1...(blank/vacant spot, due to... difficulties) (a VERY CLOSE) #2 Saphira from Eragon and Roke #3 (Roke is the little white dragon on this book's cover.) some honorable mentions, (SO FAR. THIS REVEIW WOULD BE MUCH LONGER IF I DID ALL THE DRAGONS I WANT) Kazul from Dealing with Dragons Moon(watcher) from Moon Rising: The Graphic Novel and OBVIOUSLY Darkstalker from Darkstalker Well, I'm exhausted from writing this reveiw, and you're probably exhausted from reading it, so go read this book (again, if you already have) and enjoy.
