In the fifth installment of the exciting Dragon Kingdom of Wrenly graphic novel series, Ruskin and his friends await a volcano eruption!

It’s almost time for Inferno New Year on Crestwood, when the island’s largest volcano erupts, bringing a lava-fall that transforms the surrounding landscape. This spectacular but dangerous event brings Cinder, Groth, and Roke to the palace to stay with Ruskin until it’s safe to return to Crestwood. However, danger seems to follow these dragons wherever they go, and after the explosions are finished on Crestwood, the island’s geography won’t be the only thing that has changed forever.

The titular storyline—"Inferno New Year" being an event that happens every two hundred years where the volcano erupts and transforms Crestwood—is sort of a misnomer in that respect. "Inferno Bicentennial" was too hard to say? Heck, Centennial if that makes it easier, since it's a fictional world anyway! I just would've liked the holiday name to more accurately represent the timeline it involves.

That's my main point of contention. Otherwise, it's still a cute story about cute dragons being cute! Haha, I kid, mostly—there's an underlying thread about Villinelle (whose name seems too on the nose) having Roke give a pie to the king, though Ruskin immediately suspects there's something wrong with the pie after hearing it's from Villinelle.

Actually, that's confusing, too: Roke . I mean, I know why it happens for story reasons, but it seems so out of left field for Roke that it takes me a bit out of the story.

Other than that, art's fantastic, dragons adorable, and a great read for fans of the series. Heck, it's *almost* readable to complete newcomers, even considering they wouldn't know who Villinelle was (but, again, her name seems too obvious, so it wouldn't be a stretch to figure out why Ruskin is suspicious).

Hey awesome readers! I just finished reading the coolest book called "Inferno New Year," and it's like the fifth chapter in the Dragon Kingdom of Wrenly graphic novel series. Get ready for some serious dragon excitement!

So, in this book, our dragon hero Ruskin and his pals are gearing up for something called Inferno New Year. And guess what happens during this special celebration? The biggest volcano on Crestwood erupts, and it's like a lava-fall extravaganza! Can you imagine the whole island transforming because of a volcano? That's some serious dragon magic!

But, uh-oh, it's not all fun and games. Ruskin's friends Cinder, Groth, and Roke have to come stay at the palace until it's safe to go back to Crestwood. You'd think being in a palace would be super safe, right? Well, not exactly! Danger follows these dragons everywhere, and after all the explosions and lava-falls, things are never gonna be the same on Crestwood.

The book is a graphic novel, which means it's like reading a super cool comic. The pictures are so awesome and colorful. You get to see Ruskin and his friends in action, and the lava-filled scenes are like whoa!

If you're into dragons, volcanoes, and epic adventures, "Inferno New Year" is the book for you. It's like going on a dragon journey filled with surprises and maybe a little bit of danger. So, grab the book, and get ready for a lava-filled, dragon-tastic adventure! 🐉📖🌋

Roke learns more about friendship and doing the right thing.
Groth gets enchanted, and the friends speak to a suspicious librarian who tells them a foreboding prophecy about Ruskin.
I do like how Ruskin forgives Groth easily for being aggressively suspicious and harsh to him while he was enchanted. He also gives Roke lots of opportunities to do the right thing, while Cinder doesn’t let him off the hook for his bad choices. Lastly, there are several poop references, but compared to other series that tend to centralize potty talk, this is so innocent.

Ruskin is visited by his friends because the volcano where they live is erupting. Apparently it does this every couple of hundred years, and the dragons all find new caves because of it. I love the idea of a volcano eruption causing a new year. Talk about a way to cleanse the old and start

I-I-sigh... I just don't understand.
Roke is awesome on all the levels, and yet he's only mentioned once on the preveiw, on the part where they see all the names.
UNDAWATED DWAGON.
THAT'S what he is.
Yes, yes, Ima genius.

Interesting character interactions. Its odd that the dragons aren't that concerned with their land being submerged in lava, but then again, they ARE dragons.
