That’s what the note with orange juice and a muffin next to my bed says when I wake up. That’s it. No phone number, no text. I don’t even know his last name or where he lives. I mean - really? We nearly make the king-size bed in our hotel room break down (twice!) and my ONS from last night doesn’t even bother to say goodbye? Gosh, I hope I never see this jerk again. But it seems like the Universe has different plans for me. Because when I start my new job, guess who’s my new boss? Right, Mr. I’m-so-handsome-and-I-know-it. Getting a tooth pulled is fun compared to being his assistant. He’s cold, arrogant and demanding, and nothing I ever do seems good enough for him. If I didn’t desperately need the money, I’d quit right away. That is until… the unthinkable happens.
When the fifth pregnancy test shows two lines, I must face the truth: I’m carrying Mr. Bosshole’s baby!
This enemies-to-lovers romance features a hero with a big... ego & romantic HEA that will leave you swooning! "Loving The Enemy" can be read as a stand-alone.
DNF…could not finish I tried on a number of occasions to get into this book, but it’s horrible! I like alpha males, when written right. This one was not. The dialogue between Andre and “pickle” was juvenile and unrealistic.
“Don’t worry, I’m a good driver … you’re gonna love the feel of this inside of you. Come on, let’s get all hot and bothered.”
That’s an actual quote and not even the worst one I read.
The characters just felt like they flip flopped. A. Lot.
He went from furious she showed up in his business to wanting to “take her to dinner” within a page. Then she was to spend the very same night with him because her car got locked in a lot. Then she went from wanting to jump from his car with nerves to singing within a moment.
There was no build up, no real energy between these two. Stupid dialogue and whiplash like directional changes. This author is definitely not for me.
This is embarrassingly bad. It reads like a 14 year old girl wrote this on wattpad. Wtf did I just read. He's not an alphahole he's just a hole. He has no charm about him that would make him likable and she was said to be 26 but she acted like like a 16 year old girl lusting over an overgrown frat boy. ALSO NOTHING like the back blurb. I was SOLD A LIE. Look at that cover and tell me he's a 47 year old. I barely got through 40 pages before I had to just put this down. I dont want to be harsher than I already am so I'll end the review here.
DNF. Actually, I was only able to get through 90 pages. Andre was so not likable and Eliza seemed weak. I usually love these kinds of reunited without knowing romance reads but I couldn’t get over the large ego that was the main male character!
Terrible main characters. The guy is a sleeze. The girl was way too emotional about the guy ditching her after a hook up. Like she took a year to get over it. I was done when she agreed to a dinner date immediately after he called her a crazy stalker.
I really enjoyed the first half of this book, to the point I would have given it a solid 4 stars, but the story started to get a bit rushed in the second part and some of the choices in plot direction didn't gel. Firstly, I’ll start by saying that I didn’t really find this an enemies-to-lovers romance. Andre never really treated Eliza poorly or went out of his way to be nasty, but was clear from the get-go that he never wanted to have a proper relationship, get married or start a family. She was a little ticked off that he’d only left a note after their one night together but ended up okay enough with where he stood on things to agree to a casual, no-strings arrangement. There wasn’t a great amount of animosity or sparks flying between them (chemistry, yes, but not the usual enemies-to-lovers heat) and so if that’s what you’re looking for, you might not find it here.
Andre and Eliza meet at a party. They hit it off and have one night of off the charts smexy times. He leaves her a note and a muffin the next morning, assuming they’ll never see each other again which is why he didn’t leave her his number. He’s a kazillionaire owner of a clean energy company. When Eliza leaves Washington for Texas to study clean energy ethics (or something like that), her internship lands her... guess where… Andre’s company. He automatically assumes she’s stalking him even though they have seen each other for over a year. Perfectly rational, apparently, because that’s happened to him in the past. He’s immediately smitten with her again but doesn’t want anything serious, preferring to casually scratch that itch. Eliza agrees even though she’s a bit cranky at him and they start hitting the sheets. She’s inexperienced which the author makes sure to mention several times (this actually drives me nuts as it edges very close to you-know-what shaming) and there’s over a twenty-year age gap between them if that floats your boat.
The book then basically revolves around Andre clearly having feelings for Eliza but pretending it’s all good in the hood. Eliza spends the book with feelings for Andre but knowing they’re not going anywhere. I enjoyed that she didn’t turn into the dreaded whiney, teary female lead that can’t get her man, even though there ended up being a bit of ‘I’ll try to change for you’. You know, because men that want to have their cake and eat it too are actually just screaming for a woman to change or fix them even though they’re the ones with the issues. Urgh. Underlying their relationship developing, there’s Eliza’s obsession with Andre’s two million dollar horse (this was sweet) and Andre’s partner, Bill. The former suspects the latter of skimming funds to create a company that’s illegally fracking on behalf of Andre’s company, something he strictly forbids as a clean company. Bill is smarmy and a walking sexual harassment case in the office who also has clear mental issues but has been allowed to carry on how he likes. More on this in a bit.
The steamy scenes between the two main characters, while frequent, were pretty hot for the most part. They were definitely on the rough side which made for good reading. I really liked the dynamic between the two and the mostly adult relationship they had. I didn’t like some of the outdated rubbish that made its way in here in there, such as the focus on her inexperience to show she wasn’t a good time girl (that phrase is used tongue in cheek). Eliza said stuff like ‘I’m not like that’ in regards to sex. This is a big nope for me. The last century called – they want their outdated notions of women back, please and thank you. What I did, like, however, was that the author didn’t fall into the ‘she’s so special’ cliché. Andre treated her like he had many other women that had come before her to visit his house for fun times. I liked this as it was much more realistic. The comment Eliza made that Andre was ‘…every billionaire in every romance book that ever had a horse and an open field on the cover…’ was great – own it lol. Eliza was also no pushover, which I also loved. Once she saw the relationship might not have a future, she went with it and made it work for her.
Eliza made a few questionable decisions and had a weird way of processing information at times. For example, Andre had said, pretty innocently I thought, that no one was in the office after hours so no one would see them kiss. There were still some people there one day and this made Eliza wonder what else he’d lie about? Really? Not the fact he’s twenty years your senior and your boss and you’re going out for dinner with him the night you see him even though you apparently think he’s a massive Jerky McJerkface? Righto then. Andre also had a few issues at times. He didn’t want Eliza to be clingy, but also spent most of the book carrying on because he wanted her to want him. Pick a lane, dude. The relationship moved pretty fast considering they’d only just reconnected and he was her boss, but I didn’t mind this. The first half of the book was done well enough that I was all in.
I found the cover pretty misleading – Andre is not only twenty years her senior but has greying hair. Sorry, but this is not what’s on the cover. A minor issue, but it irks me. There were also a couple of spots in the book where Eliza was a blonde and then had brown hair. No wonder she had trouble with her looks at times if her hair colour kept changing without her knowing lol. There’s also the running ‘joke’ with Eliza where she makes fun of his age and calls him Grandpa. I found this a bit weird. I also found it strange how she mentioned a few times she wasn’t much to look at but had a banging hot body. Well, you’re not that low in self-esteem then, are you lol? The book had a few typos here and there. Nothing too serious but they were there.
Now, up to this point, it was still a four star (or even four and a half) read for me, however a couple of things made me rip off a star and contemplate taking off even more than that. Firstly, these two are apparently really into each other but Andre asks Eliza to spy on Bill and find information on the possible fracking. He wants her to flirt and get close to him as he knows Bill is a sleaze and he hopes, HE HOPES, she won’t have to sleep with him. Sorry, but wot? Nope, no, nah-uh. He basically pimps her out. Oh sure, he worries about her considering she goes home with Bill, but it’s all part of the plan? No way. Those are not the actions of someone who cares for someone else and I don’t care that it’s fiction, nor that it was to add drama to the book. Completely ridiculous, as was her willingness to go along with it and put herself in a situation with a bad guy that was set on sexual assault. Gross x1000.
Possible trigger: The other thing that made me angry was some of the phrases around Eliza and Andre considering an abortion. If you’re going to write about a political subject that a lot of people have strong opinions about, you better be prepared to cop some flack about how you write it. Saying the act of abortion seemed really heartless made my blood boil. I get that this was a character’s perspective, but as someone that’s never had one but supports every woman’s right to body autonomy, you can put judgemental crap like that straight in the bin where it belongs. Combined with the fact that the doctor was almost positive the baby was male at an early check up? Again, no. Maybe do a quick Google search before stating nonsense like this. And the over-emphasis on ‘the baby’ and ‘it’s a boy’ at the check up to choose a possible abortion? Nope again. Like women don’t have enough to be crapped on about.
Anyway, back to not wanting to set things on fire. After all of the build up about Bill, the end was pretty rushed to me, with everything being wrapped up pretty quickly. The guy went from being an unethical sleaze to almost being like a mafia don calling out hits on people that crossed him. And with almost a click of the fingers, one of the main foci of the book was over. Oh, and without spoiling anything, Bill had stolen a small fortune. Two hundred million. I want to know how Andre is the CEO of a successful company with this happening right under his nose. Introduce me to him – I have a great bridge to sell him lol.
Overall, I liked that it was a realistic read in regards to the characters but the borderline outdated attitude towards women who are sexually active combined with then using women to fossick for information using their sexuality on the flip side pushed my buttons and not in a good way. Combined with the abortion language choices and I was a bit turned off by what had been a pretty entertaining read. Again, it wasn’t an enemies-to-lovers read for me – just an older guy set in his ways that was a loner for the most part. I would try this author in the future, but very warily.
First, she wasn’t HIS assistant. He basically tries to pimp her out to his dangerous partner (dude tried to murder his ex wife) to get info on him. (She doesn’t have s** with him, but almost).
Second, she didn’t take a pregnancy test 5 times. They go to the dr to get the morning after pill and the dr makes her take 2 pee tests.
He is 47, she is 26. He basically comes off like a perv that preys on his young interns. He makes them sign NDA and threatens to lie if they try to talk about the relationship. But of course, this would only be AFTER he gets what he wants.
Not sure how I feel about this book. He has some redeeming qualities at the end.
Older man Andre (47) and younger woman Eliza (26) was a common theme, but this book had a lot of ups and downs. About halfway through the book Eliza cuts her hair and gets a nose piercing, Andre asks her to spy on his business partner, Eliza's IUD gets dislodged, and they find out she's pregnant. Meanwhile, Andre's partner, Bill, discovers Eliza stole a file and laptop exposing his embezlement, so he hires a hitman to kill Eliza. Andre is a TDH workaholic, grumpaliscious jerk who has multiple hookups. He doesn't want to get married and has built a wall around his heart to protect it. States he doesn't like people and has no friends. Fortunately for him Eliza is a sweet girl with a "hot" body that he just can't seem to get enough of. I love stories where the male character is a serial heartbreaker and finally meets is soulmate. Eliza is smart, sassy, and knows how to handle Andre. She demands that he respect and treat her as an equal. The scenes where Andre and Eliza struggle with wether to keep the baby or abort it was very well written. I took a deep breath when they individually decided to keep the baby. That event is what broke Andre and he decided to become a decent person by supporting Eliza and showing compassion for others. He redeemed himself when he shot the man that was trying to kill Eliza. He finally realized he loved her and couldn't live without her. Book was written from a dual POV and the banter between Andre and Eliza was lol hilarious. Kudos to Mia for acknowledging that well-endowed men can do some damage if the sex is over the top vigorous. The mulitple themes in this book were very interesting and balanced with lighthearted conversations between the characters.
What are the chances of unknowingly taking an internship on the other side of the country and end up working for an amazing one night stand that didn't even leave a "see you" note?? Definitely not the way Eliza imagined her life to go. Andre is definitely your tall, dark and handsome but he is also very closed off and private. Eliza sets him straight when he assumes she followed him to get something from him. The attraction is explosive and Andre only wants no strings sex, but damnit to hell he can't get her out of his mind. The snarky comments from Eliza will keep you entertained and the possessive actions of Andre will heat you to the core. Things take a different turn when Andre suspects his partner of using company funds to form his own shell company that goes against Andre's "no fraking" policies which are causing devastating effects. Eliza's life is not turning out how she thought it would. She's having amazing sex with her jerk of a boss, falling in love with said boss whose heart is not available, trying to get proof of Andre's suspicions, and to top that off there are two pink lines in a stick!!! Throw that in a blender and you get one hell of a mess!!! The stakes get higher when his partner comes after Eliza and that possessive feeling of Andre's forces him to realize what a future without Eliza would look like. Do they have a chance of making it or not??? You'll laugh, cry, moan, groan and get overheated with this page turning story....but what a way to spend your day!!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and purchased a copy for my favorites collection.

Eliza’s life 2.0 This is an entertaining, hot and steamy story about Eliza and Andre. The prologue introduces the readers to these two characters, as they hook up at an anniversary party hosted by her friends. Eliza is sick of being the boring, responsible one, and so she throws caution to the wind and really lets loose, having a hot and heavy night with Andre. The story continues one year later when she returns to Legende, but this time it’s for her own going away party. She’s leaving DC for Texas to study for her MBA, with a focus on environmental ethics Her two best friends Ophelia and Harper join her for a rare night out. She’s a little jealous of her friends with their loving and doting husbands and their gorgeous children. There’s nobody for her in DC, hence the relocation. She could only hope! As an attendee of an internship fair, Eliza was hoping to find a job in the area of her choosing. And guess whose energy tech company just happened to be a forerunner in that area, and the place where she earned herself an internship? Yep, Andre, the muffin man... And so began a game of cat and mouse, full of drama, excitement, humour, banter, mixed emotions and passion. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Twenty plus years separate the hero and the heroine in this age gap, office romance. Hero is CEO of a clean energy company and Eliza an intern. They'd met the year before and had a ONS that he sneaked out on so he isn't exactly her favorite person when she gets the internship at his company. He pursues an energetic physical relationship with her, probably not the wisest thing on either of their parts.
Hero was a typical man-whore and a jerk and I didn't much care for him. The story could have used more character development for the heroine. They certainly spend a great deal of time messing around and quite vigorously. One things hero is sure of, he doesn't think he is fatherhood material and he's dead set against kind of family. A dislodged iud gives him plenty to think about.
A decent HEA. Plenty of steamy scenes. An OK read if you aren't expecting much.
But one plot point was a stretch. A stallion is not a good mount for an inexperienced rider, especially one used for breeding. Completely improbable that the safest horse in his stable for the heroine to ride was his stallion, Midnight. Nope.
I like the storylines, but always feel off somehow, like something's missing.
I get like this with certain writers who aren't consistent or decisive with their characters or other elements of the book. I was confused as to why Eliza felt she would have to care for her baby alone when she had parents - I cannot believe they would have turned her away, though had she gone through with an abortion (talk about repugnant - that little guy way ALIVE, moving around! I know, personal opinion, but I know of no woman who was ever okay once they had an abortion. They always carried a melancholy air, the ones I did know), perhaps her parents might have taken issue. I would, if my children ever chose abortion because they weren't able to care for a child. I'm already one grandson as my own.
Anyway, the issues were extreme, as was Andre's personality, and his behavior and attitude toward Eliza were drastic turnarounds for him. Hard to believe, and while it made for a nicely wrapped up story, nah. I don't think he could've changed nicely to that extreme. Three stars - itnwasnokay
Andre is not into love. He plans to never marry and never have kids. He is happy with hookups. He and Eliza have a hot interlude in Washington DC and he just leaves in the morning with a trite note. It stings, but Eliza is determined to move on. She decides to relocate for grad school in Texas. Who would know that her internship is with Andre's company. He is a colossal egomaniac when he calls her in to accuse her of stalking him all the way to Texas. She sets him straight. The mid portion of the book is about the push and pull between them. He won't commit to anything thing serious and she can't resist him. She ends up pregnant and is devastated to know that Andre wants her to get rid of it. She can't go through with it. In the mean time she is also doing some spying for Andre that lands her in hot water. Andre has to learn to love and trust and Eliza is the woman for the job.

This is the story of Andre and Eliza. They met in a club and spent the night together. After that night he left and she never knew about him. After a year, she moved to Texas to complete her Master and ended working as intern in his company. After misunderstanding and clarifications they reconnected and began to have fun again, no strings attached. But they ended falling in love to each other. The story is packed with intrigue, action, passion, love, friendship, a lot of elements to define the whole story. I loved the way the author created a story that is not the normal love story, the story is so interesting that you can’t stop reading. There are unexpected events, action, hit-men, treason, I mean, an amazing plot! If you like horses, this story has everything cover, the are horses too! Highly recommended. Excellent story and characters!

A one night stand blossomed into an everlasting love ❤️
Exciting with great love scenes that changed how an older man fell in lasting love with a younger woman. Andre was an older man who ran an green energy company, but he was determined never to marry or become a father. A one night stand with a younger woman changed his perspective on life. Eliza was the opposite of Andre but her goals were similar to his in reference to love, marriage and babies. But as fate would have it she got pregnant which changed them both and their love for each other escalated. Andre business partner was embezzling from the company and secretly starting another company which was using fracking to drill oil which caused an earthquake that nearly destroyed a town. Eliza life was threatened when she took documents that would proved Andre partner was stealing. Mia Faye wrote an exciting love story with a beautiful HEA.
This book was interesting. I don't know what I expected when I first started reading it, but there were definitely twists and turns that I did not think would happen.
The characters were intriguing. Andre was very dominant and Eliza was stubborn in her own right. While I liked the general story, it was very sex-driven and I think had I known that, I might not have picked up this book. It felt that there were many more intimate scenes than scenes that led to story development. However, once I got past all of that, it was a good story. I liked how Andre changed throughout the book and many of his walls came down.
Overall, this was a good book. I wasn't in love with it, but I did like it and may someday revisit it.

He's attracted to her the minute he sees her. First impression is that he's charming and good looking. He wants to take her to his place to connect more intimately. They seem to have a strong chemistry that melts her resistance. She wakes the next morning to a note that read "thanks for the time". This guy's not too classy and she seems to be well rid of him. Fate steps in and reunites them at his company where she is seeking an intern position. He is so unlikable in the beginning it was hard to keep reading but Eliza's figures away to deal with his crude, rude and selfish behaviors. Their journey is filled with suspense, mystery and sizzling chemistry. I found myself laughing, crying and eager to see what happens next. One of my favorite quotes comes from this book, "when you're alone in the world, friends make it brighter".
I don't DNF a book lightly. It has to be chaotic or horribly written/full of errors, or completely devoid of the minimal things that interest me in order for me to give up on it. From the beginning, I was not on board with the male MC. In fact, I almost stopped reading right then, but I'm trying to make my way through all of my Kindle books and this was on my list of things I needed to read. I'm not going to go into details, but know that there are so many problematic things in this book that I had to keep leaving it in order to keep myself sane. He literally sends this woman to seduce his evil business partner in order to prove the business partner is evil. He would have been okay with her having sex with the business partner even though he is falling in love with her. He literally puts her in danger. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I was done.
Certainly very hot, but the characters are sometimes difficult to bear 3.5 The story doesn't lack spicy, but it was the behavior of the characters that frustrated me. Andre is arrogant, insufferable, cheeky, but Eliza's reaction is just as offbeat to let herself be carried away by barely grumbling about Andre's actions that she accepts while rejecting them (quite contradictory). Also, although they tend to say on a regular basis that they have some weird feelings or connection, I didn't really feel those emotions during the entire first part. The story tends to be more moving in the second part, with more action and twists I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This is my first time reading a book from this author and I will be checking out more of her work. The book interested me from the first chapter. The story line is not original but the plot is great, the story flowed well and the supporting characters are likeable. Let me not forget about the amazing chemistry and heated scenes between the two main characters, they are captivating. I definitely enjoyed reading this story and recommend it. if you don't mind (some heat in your kitchen) this is a good one.

4 Stars I would have maybe rated this higher but the first 25% of the book I just really wasn’t feeling it. Particularly the crassness of Andre but also the decisions of Eliza too. I was thinking of maybe giving up on it. But I went back to the reviews and so many were positive that I decided to stick with it and I’m glad I did. Because at a certain point the characters begin to change and you get more insight and it changed my perspective. I ended up really enjoying it. The other thing about this book is that the cover didn’t really match Andre for me. It did nothing to add to the book. Don’t think the model was even in the right age category.

This book was a truly fun read. Andre is a tough, broody, no-nonsense billionaire who experiences significant growth as a man and human being in this story. Eliza is his match on every level. Their characters are strong, complex and stimulating to read. Their journey is unusual and takes some intriguing turns along the way which literally amps up this book. Overall, I sincerely enjoyed this story and while I doubted frequently during the reading, it really does have a genuine HEA. This is my first book by Mia Fay and I will definitely be looking to read more of her work.
Eliza and Andre have a one night stand, then he leaves with a note and not even a last name or a text, but juice and a muffin. He is older so he should know better. Then Eliza goes to work for a company and her boss is none other than Andre. They are good with the physical relationship but he is not a family kind of guy. Then there is a pregnancy. I liked the Eliza and Andre was what he needed to be to make the story work. I enjoyed the story and I liked the characters. It was not one of those books that I had to hurry up and finish which was nice so I could linger. Great story.

Couldn’t put it down! This is one of those books that you start reading, become totally immersed in, and then are finished and wish there was more. Eliza and Andre were fortunate in that they were strong enough to overcome the obstacles placed in their way, principally the age difference and his being her boss. Her friends were supportive; however, their road suffered a major “bump” when he was shot. A combination love story/mystery that will have you on the edge of your seat till the very last word. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Andre was a workaholic and very demanding. Eliza is a super sweet woman who seems to be finding her way. They met at a friends party and the chemistry is amazing. They spent the night together and expected to never see one another again until Eliza’s new path led her to the stare he was in. Was she stalking him or was it a coincidence? Can they fight the attraction and keep from hurting one another? Loved the dynamics and story with other characters. It’s amazing how things can change when you live som
The hero was a total jerk, but had a good side. The two of them made for a very different couple. She was smart and funny and held her own. Spoiler: she does become pregnant near the end and their decision about the pregnancy was well done and surprising. I really liked the way they communicated, especially about painful subjects. They talked out their expectations. He changed quite a bit and they were an endearing couple. There is a lot of sex but it's sizzling and fun.
