Because, before their whirlwind romance and Emily’s discovery she was pregnant, Pete had been married to Caroline for more than twenty years. A devastating tragedy had torn them apart. But there was a part of Pete that had never fully left his first wife and a secret that would bind them together, forever.

Finding herself lonely, heartbroken, and forced to face life and motherhood alone – Emily is surprised that Caroline offers her support. But Emily knows she needs someone she can trust and rely on. Even if it’s the woman her husband loved before her.

A tentative friendship develops and their lives become entwined. Their bond grows ever stronger as Caroline steps in to help when Emily’s baby arrives unexpectedly early. But it’s not just Caroline hiding a secret. Both of the women who once loved Pete have things they can never admit, without risking a friendship that might be the only thing keeping them both afloat.

When grief begins to takes its toll on Emily, she feels sure that Caroline is the only person who can save her and baby Dylan… But should she trust the woman he loved before her – with her life… Or her child’s?

An utterly devastating, but ultimately uplifting, emotional women’s fiction novel about friendship, motherhood and loss. Perfect for fans of Jodi Picoult, Susan Lewis and Jojo Moyes.

Will Emily ever be able to completely trust Caroline with her life… Or her child’s?

This is a signature Emma Robinson book! It’s a beautiful, heart-touching and sensitive read.

Through the lives of Emily and Caroline, the book covers some very important topics like postpartum depression, dealing with the loss of a loved one, mental health and the importance of having the support of friends and loved ones on the path towards recovery.

The plot flows smoothly making it an easy read. Both the main characters are well written and there is a gradual development in each of them, as the plot moves along, allowing the readers to genuinely like and care for both of them by the time you finish reading.

Personally, for me the highlight of this book was when Caroline stepped in to support Emily because it reiterated the fact that strong women don’t use their strength to knock others down, but instead help other women carry their burdens!

It’s a daunting task to do this book justice with mere descriptions of what it may or not be about. One thing is clear, it is a beautifully written novel about secrets, grief, and betrayal but it is also about motherhood, identity, and self-acceptance.

Emma Robinson has produced a rare book with stunning writing that takes the reader through what it feels like to be a new mother dealing with grief with rare sincerity and realism. I do believe it presents a very accurate and at times gut-wrenching portrayal of the real experience of motherhood for many new mothers: the unbelievably painful exhaustion and, at times, frustration and despair.

This book will take you through a gauntlet of emotions and when the book ends, it feels like what the book is supposed to feel like: like we have taken a journey, both awed and scarred by some of what we’ve read, and a little bit wiser than when we turned the first page.

This is my first book by Emma Robinson and it will not be my last by her. I really enjoyed the story and I liked Emily, Caroline and Pete’s storyline. Such a heartwarming story with lots of secrets and I had a hard time putting the book down. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review.

His First Wife’s Secret is the first book I have read by Emma Robinson. I knew going into this book that it would be heartbreaking, but I never expected the rollercoaster of emotions throughout this beautifully written heartfelt story about two women both lost in their own ways and yet both drawn to each other in ways unimaginable.

Emily is only just married when her husband Pete is in an accident and dies leaving a pregnant Emily’s world completely shattered. But Emily isn’t the only one grieving. His first wife, Caroline already suffered a devastating loss a few years prior. When Emily and Caroline meet for the first time a friendship of sorts ensues especially after Emily gives birth. But, both women are hiding painful secrets from each other secrets that have the capability of tearing apart their fragile friendship. Are these secrets too much for them or will they bring them even closer together?

There is so much going on in this story from death, depression, guilt, blame and so many more themes that are interwoven through this story. It all really lends a sense of believability and some themes are ones most can relate to especially mothers. This is not always an easy story to read and may even hit close to home for some readers, but the take-away from this story is such a powerful message and that is one of forgiveness and of growing.

This is very much a character driven book and being such I was really invested in both the characters of Emily and Caroline as they both suffered through different traumas and losses and had to learn how to cope in their own ways which may not always be the healthiest of choices, but it was definitely very relatable and told with brutal honesty. I may not have always liked what they did but I can see the reasons why. I think any reader, once delving into this beautifully moving story, can understand in some parts both of these women.

His First Wife’s Secret is a powerfully moving, heartbreaking, and yes at times uplifting story that will have you glued to the pages wanting what is best for two women who suffered terrible losses.

The tears began to flow. ‘I can’t do this on my own,’ Emily sobbed. ‘I don’t know how.’

Emily has been married to Pete for a short while when she discovers she is pregnant, just a few weeks later and Emily is told that her husband has been killed in a tragic accident, she doesn't know how she's going to cope on her own with a baby on the way, it's these terrible circumstances that bring her into contact with Pete's first wife, Caroline. Pete and Caroline were together for twenty years until a tragedy blew their marriage apart, but unbeknown to Emily they were still in contact. With Pete now gone and Emily struggling to survive, the two women build up an unlikely friendship when Caroline offers her support and they grow closer when Emily's baby makes an early appearance. But can Emily trust the woman her husband loved before her, and what is the secret that Caroline is hiding?

His First Wife's Secret is a dual narrative told by Emily and Caroline in alternating chapters, it's a tale of love, friendship, motherhood and loss and has been written with compassion and integrity by an author that knows how to draw her readers in, with characters that are endearing and realistic. I felt every bit of the sorrow and heartache that was being portrayed by both women and just wanted to hug them both! I loved the friendship that evolved between them, but also the caring relationship Caroline has with Faith & Gabby, everybody deserves to have friends like them! This is an emotional read, so you'll need tissues, it is only the second book I've read by Robinson but she is fast becoming one of my go to authors and I now have another four of her books on my tbr list!

I'd like to thank Bookouture and Netgalley for the auto approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

Emily and Caroline have something in common - Pete. Caroline was married to him for over twenty years. Emily is married to him now. However, Pete dies in an accident which leads Emily to deliver their unborn son before his due date. Pete's death hits on several levels. For one thing, Caroline and Pete have never recovered from the death of their son. Emily feels completely lost without Pete and what is more she is coping with more emotions than she can handle as she tries to navigate motherhood completely on her own.

When Caroline offers to step in to help Emily, it is a true godsend. Will the two women be able to put their tragic pasts behind them in order to see to the safety and care of the child? What is more is whether or not the secrets that both women hold will be their undoing? Can a friendship be forged between these two women?

This sensitive reads touches on some very serious subjects, and they include postpartum depression, loss, grief and recovery. This book also searches the tentative issue of trust and friendship. The balance is uncertain at times, and quite emotional more than once in this fabulous book by Emma Robinson.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

The story alternates between both Caroline, the first wife and Emily, Pete's second wife. When Pete dies, it throws the lives of these two women together. I found it to be such a compulsive read as I was constantly wondering and thinking what I would do if I was to find myself in these women's shoes.

I quickly became absorbed in these women's lives. There was more I wanted to know about Caroline's life as I felt there was more to discover. Emily is a bit like a lost soul and I couldn't help feel for this woman to lose a husband and facing having a baby on her own. So many times I wanted to reach into the book and give both women great big hugs.

His First Wife's Secret, wow, what a thought provoking and emotional roller coaster of a read! I couldn't devour it quickly enough to see what life had instore for these characters. The epilogue was a bit like the icing on the cake for me and it sent my emotions into over drive. The author had me hanging off her every word. A story that will grab you by the heart.

I have never read anything by Emma Robinson before but I will certainly be looking out for her now. I have just finished the book and absolutely loved it. It felt very real, and thew up a whole heap of emotions, and left me in a turmoil.

Caroline was married to Pete. When their only son, Jamie, died Caroline found it very hard to cope with depression and Pete. Pete met Emily and Emily became pregnant and so Pete and Emily got married.

When Pete died leaving Emily pregnant, and alone, she ends up turning to the only person who understands her loss, for help - Caroline.

Throw in the secrets that the two wives are keeping, and the staunch best friends of Caroline who are always looking out for her, and Pete's parents who are not looking out for anyone, and you get a totally absorbing, emotional rollercoaster of a book that you won't want to put down.

A beautifully written story of two woman. Both married the same man at different times in their and his life.
Having to pull together during a difficult time for both of them is exactly what this author is known for. Friendships and bonds where you least except it to form. A emotional journey written the only way you want to read it ..... by Emma Robinson
I recommend this book!

His First Wife's Secret by Emma Robinson is an emotional read that will have you fully invested in the complex characters from the very start.

Caroline and Pete drifted apart following the sudden and traumatic loss of their son. Pete soon moves on with the much younger Emily, and the two are expecting a child. But when the unthinkable happens and Pete dies suddenly as the result of an accident, Emily wonders how she will cope with a new baby on her own, and finds herself receiving help from Caroline, a woman who is grieving the loss of her own son. Can the arrival of the new baby help to salve the festering wounds of the past?

This is an emotive and immersive read that benefits tremendously from the alternating viewpoints of the two women, each bringing a unique yet relatable voice. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

🎯 MY REVIEW 🎯
I was drawn to this book by its beautiful cover. It caught my attention right away. Once i read the description i knew i had to read it. This is one of those books that will stick with you for a long time. It will consume you long after you finish it. Two days later and its still on my mind. Emma Robinson sure knows how to write a mesmerizing story that will hook your attention from the first chapter and pull you across the emotional spectrum as the story and characters unfold. You feel every emotion of the characters as you turn the pages. All of the scenes were perfectly described. It was easy to feel as if you were right there in the middle of all of it. I cried laughed , and cried some more. The author thoroughly researched the subject of post-natal depression and wrote it well.

I just want to say Thank you to author, publisher, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this 5 star story . I truly appreciate it!

If you are looking for a well written, unforgettable, heartbreaking, emotional, beautiful story then you should definitely read this one.

First, I want to thank Emma Robinson, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Ohhh how I love Emma Robinson’s Books!! She always writes such beautiful stories that are emotionally powerful. His First Wife’s Secret was an emotional rollercoaster ride for me with some tears in the mix. It is definitely a must read as I can see this being on the bestseller list!

His First Wife’s Secret Cover was absolutely beautiful and represented the book perfectly.

This book is dedicated to Keith Houghton English teacher and legend.

Emma Robinson is one author I will read anything she writes. Her stories time and time again have touched me in one way or another. She writes all her characters and their situations with a lot of heart. She is truly a gifted author.

In each book that Emma writes she always picks very important topics to bring awareness too. By doing so she also takes the time to research the topic to educate her readers. Some of the facts are very interesting and many times eye opening. This time around she picked a topic that was very personal to her. Emma, deepest sympathy for your loss.

I was pleasantly surprised in this book that Emma showed us her humorous side. Many times I found myself laughing out loud at some of the scenes.

Emma’s story is incredibly deep, powerful, emotional, gripping, and tragic. There are a lot of secrets with shocking revelations.

His First Wife’s Secret literally had my emotions all over the place! There were times when I was shaking my head and yelling at my Kindle over a character! Oh he irked me bad!

Emma writes her two main characters (Emily and Caroline) are very strong in different ways. They are both put in uncomfortable situations within this book. I don’t know how I would have handled the situation had It been me.

The story goes back and forth between Emily and Caroline’s point of view.

There was one part of the story that was a little predictable. However, the placement of the storyline was not where I thought it would go.

Oh what a tender, beautifully written book this is.
Where do I start?
Emma Robinson is absolutely fantastic at creating such likeable and relatable characters, that as soon as I started reading this I felt totally invested in her main characters Caroline and Emily. Even her supporting characters are just so brilliant.
The story just grabbed my heart and I felt so much for Caroline and Emily even though they were living different sides of the story. The feelings and emotions that each woman was feeling just jumps off the page and you just want the best for each of them. The development of their friendship and how it began in the first place is just so well written.
What gets me the most about Emma’s books is the power in her words that instantly brings tears to my eyes. There’s a fair few in this one but I have to say, there’s reference to a tree in the last paragraph and once you read it you will know exactly what I mean. Just absolutely beautifully written words.
I loved this book and would definitely recommend it to others.

The book blurb says His First Wife’s Secret is “about friendship, motherhood and loss.” It sure is. But it’s also about another serious topic: post-natal (and pre-natal) depression, a topic that needs to be talked about and written about way more. Robinson writes about everyday people in stressful situations, and this one is a doozy. It’s not a spoiler to say that there are two women who mourn the same man, and it’s an oddly touching relationship that develops between the two.

I really loved this book, even though I was disappointed in the actual secret.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read an advance readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Wow. Wow. I finished this yesterday but I could not get my thoughts together enough to even start writing a review! It has been a long time since I have read a book in one sitting (excluding the quick school run), but I could not put this down! I absolutely loved it from start to finish. As soon I read the prologue I was already reaching for the tissues and knew it would be another emotional and addicting read.

I absolutely loved the friendships in this story. Caroline's friends are the sort of friends we all need and it was warming to see an unlikely friendship form, despite the very trying circumstances.

The story covers loss and the difficult subject of post natal depression which, to me, was spot on! Depression is different for everyone but parts of it really resonated with me. Sadly, it is something that many mums feel they can't talk about so I think it is great that Emma has written this. Hopefully it will help those struggling realise they are not alone and may even give some the courage to seek help.

Emma has created another emotional yet beautiful story and I cannot wait to see what she writes next!

I did enjoy this read, a well written and absorbing book, I found Caroline to be amazing, such a generous and genuinely kind heart. Emily it naturally took longer to empathise with, but how both women dealt with awful tragedy and sadness was beautifully written.
Mental health and specifically post natal depression really should be discussed openly and this book does just that; if you can talk about how you feel to just one person it can open the door to healing, I had to do that myself
so it really resonated.
Overall a quite heart wrenching read but kindness and generosity shines through, along with forgiveness, I enjoyed this book very much.
Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for the advance copy.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'His First Wife's Secret' by Emma Robinson.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Emma Robinson, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 15th April 2020.

This is the second book I have read by this author. The first book I read is called 'My Husband's Daughter' which I highly recommend!!

I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis. I loved Emma Robinson's 'My Husband's Daughter' and am hoping this will be just as good. It also stated in the synopsis 'Perfect for fans of Jodi Picoult, Susan Lewis and Jojo Moyes'.
I am a huge fan of Jodi Picoult and Jojo Moyes so am looking forward to see if it loves up to this. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue, 45 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in London , UK 🇬🇧. The bonus for me of books that are partly or fully based in the UK is that I live in the UK and have sometimes visited places mentioned in the book which makes it easier to picture.

This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonists are Emily and Carokine. The benefits of third person perspective, especially with multiple person perspectives are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

'His First Wife's Secret' discusses some topics that may trigger some readers. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Emma discusses death, depression, child loss and more.

Wow!!! Where to even begin?? Mind you it's hard enough to write this with blurry eyes through tears!! Oh yes, that emotional even I shed tears!!!

I want to start by saying that Emma Robinson is a very talented author and I cannot wait to get dug into even more of her books. She is definitely on par with several of my favourite authors including Jodi Picoult, Jojo Moyes and Nicholas Sparks and is also one of my favourite authors!!

The book itself is written so well that it reads so smoothly from chapter to chapter with brilliant descriptions and settings perfect for the scene. It really dragged me deep into the story until I came out the other end with tears streaming down my face. The stunning cover and the synopsis suited the storyline perfectly.

The storyline is absolutely heartbreaking and a real tear jerker. It is also an absolutely beautiful story of love, loss, guilt, heartbreak, secrets, friendship and family!! The fact that it goes from how Caroline feels and then moving to Emily's side is a perfect layout for this type of book as you get to really feel what each 'side' is going through. It was an absolute roller-coaster ride of emotions. There were so many moments where my heart was in my throat and so much was going through my mind, I can't say anymore as not to spoil it for future readers but once you have read this book you will know what I mean.

The characters are all realistic and described so well I really felt that I got to know them all. I loved that they were a mix and I enjoyed watching the relationships between each grow and develop. I admired Caroline's strength especially when the big secret was revealed. It was absolutely heartbreaking to find out what happened, especially as a mother myself, I can't say more as to not give too much away. However, I think the ending was absolutely perfect and I would LOVE to see this turned into a movie!!!! I also enjoyed 'meeting' Gabby and Faith who are beautiful people and anyone would be lucky to have friends like them. I had mixed feelings with Emily throughout but by the end I grew to like her and really felt for what she aslo had to go through.

Another HUGE success by Emma Robinson. If you have never read any of her books then what are you waiting for!!! Go and get one now!!! I especially recommend this one and 'My Husband's Daughter".

I would also like to add a thank you to Emma Robinson for bringing up the subject of depression in several forms in this book, especially post natal. I do believe that it needs to be openly talked about and the way it was weaved in the storyline was perfect. It is such an awful thing for anyone to go through and I truly believe that by putting it in this storyline it will help any readers who are either going through it themselves or if they know anyone going through it, then it will help them see the signs and get the help they need and know it is nothing to be ashamed off. Emma has either done alot of research or it is something she has gone through herself as her knowledge shines through which is important when talking about any form of mental health or illness in a book. I have seen so many authors include mental health or disabilities in books, not done their research and it completely spoils the storyline and actually done more damage than good to anyone living with thay condition, etc.

Overall an absolute page turning, tear jerking beautiful story of love, loss, regret, friendship, guilt and family.

Genres covered in this novel include Literary Fiction, Emotional Drama and Fiction amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Jojo Moyes, Nicholas Sparks and Jodi Picoult along with anyone looking for a tear jerker.

289 pages.

This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5 /5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

A truly emotional story about loss and survival after losing a child. Caroline and Pete's son Jamie has gone off to university but tragedy strikes and he is involved in a fateful accident. When Pete moves out of the family home and marries Emily there is even more heart break ahead for all of them. Another brilliant book by this author, I haven't read a bad one yet.

His First Wife’s Secret by Emma Robinson is a story of two women who have every reason to hate each other but find themselves needing each other. Caroline had the ideal life until a tragedy ends it all. Her marriage to Pete ended but a secret keeps them bound together. Soon after the divorce, Pete married the much younger Emily after she discovers she’s pregnant. Life for Emily seems to be going well, until tragedy strikes again. Pete is killed in a car accident and the only person Emily can think of to turn to is Caroline. Caroline surprises herself and everyone else when she offers Emily support as she faces childhood and motherhood alone. Their tentative friendship develops, lives entwined and a bond that grows strong. What they don’t know is that each woman holds a secret, will their friendship survive when the secrets are revealed?
His First Wife’s Secret is my first book by Ms. Robinson. This story is described as a powerful and utterly gripping emotional drama. While there is a lot of drama, it was not the emotional rollercoaster I expected. When the secrets were revealed, it was very underwhelming. Emily’s secret was almost a no-brainer and Caroline’s secret was heartbreaking but something was missing. I was missing the gripping emotional drama. I kept expecting a different side to Caroline and while she does react to Emily’s secret, she does return to the supportive friend that she was before, I’m not sure her characterization was real enough. I do appreciate Ms. Robinson’s accurate portrayal of postpartum depression and bringing a light to this very real situation for many new moms. Overall, I enjoyed His First Wife’s Secret. I look forward to reading more by Ms. Robinson. I recommend His First Wife’s Secret.

His First Wife’s Secret is available in paperback, eBook, and audiobook

Caroline and Pete have been married for 25 years. They had one son, Jamie, the love of their lives. They were never able to have more children. Sadly, Jamie died in an accident when he was a student at university. Their grief was overwhelming. But as sometimes happens, grief pulled them apart, and Caroline asked Pete to leave.

Pete has now met Emily, a pretty woman some years younger than himself. When she finds herself pregnant, they get married. Emily is having a difficult time with her pregnancy, feeling exhausted and unhappy.

Emily and Caroline meet which is a good thing because Caroline helps her when tragedy strikes and Pete is killed in an accident which brings on early labor for Emily. She gives birth to a beautiful boy named Dylan who looks so much like the son that Caroline and Pete lost. As both women are facing grief, Caroline steps in and helps Emily through her sorrow and the early days of motherhood. Emily feels that Caroline is such a good mother and that she herself is just not up to caring for Dylan. While many think this is a strange situation and friendship, I feel like this comes under the heading: It takes a village.

Caroline is so strong - stronger than even she realizes. I have to say that I was disappointed in her friend, Faith, who wanted her to walk away from the situation. It smacks of the sad state of the social services offered.

This story can be thought of as depressing, however, I would say it’s realistic and can be a teaching tool. Grief can be so very debilitating and those who have not experienced it, don’t always understand its effects on the mind and body. The author did a great job in expressing this. Well done.

His First Wife's Secret by Emma Robinson was just a brilliant book, then again I have loved all the books I have read by Emma.....The only thing I will say is they should come with a warning - You will need Tissues., Oh and don't start to read her books if you have something planned for that day or your just about to go to bed!!!! As like me I will need to keep on reading it till the end to see what happens!

This book is a rollercoaster of emotions and will have you in tears so be warned!
Caroline is married to Pete but sadly they are drifting apart, after the sudden death of their only son........Pete soon moves on with his life and finds a much younger girlfriend called Emily. Pete is hiding a big secret from his wife that Emily is expecting a child. Then, there's a terrible accident and Pete is suddenly killed!
Emily wonders how she will cope without him especially as their baby is due soon. Caroline who is still grieving for their son, and now is grieving for her husband, finds the strength to go to Emily and support her and their baby.

Can Caroline deal with the grief of the loose of her son and now Husband and also be supportive to Emily? "She is so brave!"

Will the baby bring them together and help both of them to come to terms with their loose?

This is an emotional and a book of courage between women and if you love Jodi Picoult, Susan Lewis and Jojo Moyes books this is an excellent book for you.

Big Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Emma Robinson for an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Caroline and Pete's marriage fell apart after their son Jamie's death. Now Pete has a new relationship with Emily while Caroline continues to mourn. Unbeknown to Caroline, he has married Emily and she is pregnant. Yet he still turns up to see Caroline on a regular basis and she hopes for a reconciliation. A love triangle built on betrayal...
His First Wife's Secret is a highly emotional family drama novel. Our sympathies are immediately directed to both Caroline and Emily. The former is grieving for her deceased son and, as a mother myself, I cannot imagine the heart break. The latter is not coping well with her pregnancy as well as grieving for her mother (again something which I can't bear to think about).
Pete is a much more problematic character. He has charm and charisma but is he playing the women off against each other. Yet he is also dealing with the loss of his son and I can't blame him for looking for support when his wife pushed him away.
As the title suggests, there are more revelations as the book progresses. Secrets and lies, betrayal and tragedy combine to tug at the heartstrings. I felt almost protective towards both Caroline and Emily and wanted them to find happiness.
The difficult topics are handled sensitively and there is a realism that makes the reader put themselves into the place of the characters to imagine how they feel and would react.
His First Wife's Secret is a very enjoyable book despite the serious issues covered and the sad overtone.

Emma Robinson’s novels have been on my to-be-read pile for too long, so when I saw her latest release, His First Wife’s Secret described as a powerful and emotionally gripping drama, it had to be my next read.

When Pete dies suddenly, his second wife, Emily, is distraught. But she isn’t the only grieving widow, as his first wife, Caroline must also come to terms with the loss. Alone and pregnant, with baby Dylan, Emily turns to Caroline for help and the two women grow close. But what secrets has Caroline kept hidden? And can their fledgling friendship survive when truths are revealed.

His First Wife’s Secret is a beautifully written, heart-tugging read. Every single character rang true. Even the unusual friendship between a first and second wife seemed entirely plausible. There are enough twists and turns to keep the plot interesting, but it’s the riveting emotional journey that both women experience that is central to the novel. Although His First Wife’s Secret deals with tragic events, it is lifted by hope, humour and warmth. Themes including friendship, motherhood, divorce and grief, are sensitively explored. The good news is that Emma Robinson also has a backlist to enjoy. One for fans of Diane Chamberlain, Jodi Picoult, Catherine Miller and Kelly Rimmer.

review of Emma Robinson His first wife’s secret. I finished this beautiful and emotional and heartbreaking read in almost one sitting and have had to wait a few days for the book hangover to subside before writing my review. This book was an absolute delight to read and the characters Caroline and Emily will also be relatable to so many people as will the themes that are covered in the book I won’t mention those here for fear of spoilers.

The story highlights how women reach out and support each other in difficult times and how friendship and kindness can make the world feel like a better place and how we all need the support of others sometimes even if we think we can go it alone

Emma Robinson has a real knack of writing about real life issues and sensitive topics from the heart and bringing them to the fore to highlight them to others and bring them out into the open and raise awareness of them in such a fabulous and talented way.

This book had me in tears for much of my reading so I suggest having some tissues close by while reading. I feel very lucky to have been able to read this book prior to publication thank you #netgalley for my ARC.

I am already excitedly waiting in anticipation for the next book Emma brings out.

I never read another reader’s review before I start a new book. I am afraid that I will be influenced somehow by what they have written whether I want to or not. What I do do is checking some afterwards because I am curious to see how others experienced certain things. Often I agree with some of the remarques, sometimes I feel the opposite completely.
In this case I have to agree with all the comments already published on Goodreads when I finished the story (15/03).
The author has created a wonderful but very touching story. You feel every bit of pain, of love, of joy, of misery. It’s like you are dropped in the middle and you can see what’s happening first hand.
Every situation has been described in a way that feels so real picturing situations that could happen to each and everyone of us.
You can climb out of the deepest valley as long as you have some people you can count on to support you every step of the long and often slow journey.
Do you want to find out how two people who are totally different can be united by a tragedy and the love for a child, then you should pick up this book. 5 stars

Thank you, Emma Robinson and Bookouture

Emma Robinson is this gorgeously funny, caring lady with a heart of gold. And this comes through in her writing so much. I can hear her books being read in her voice as I continue to turn the pages.

This book was read in less than a day. I reluctantly put it down to go on the school run today, but stood at the school door reading on my kindle app. This is how obsessed I was with the heart warming story of Emily and Caroline.

Once again Emma has handled a very tragic and difficult storyline, with absolute poise and got some of the very challenging storyline spot on for me.

As someone who struggled with post-natal depression, it's not a one size fits all and I feel that this comes across through Emma's brilliant wording and storytelling.

There is the signature heartbreak in this book that I have come to know Emma for, but also her stamp of women supporting women and lifting each other up. Because as we all know, in times of need a woman needs her friends more than anyone.

Absolutely stunning piece of work Mrs.Robinson I cant wait for the next one!
