Finally, he's mine, and I can say that out in public.
Luke McDowell, one of the most beloved public figures in America, is my forever. At least that's what we said.
But love is different in the harsh glare of the spotlight. Sometimes it feels like the whole world's against us. Now our unofficial honeymoon is over. Luke is back at Evermore, trying to live the life he had before he met me. Trying to say "yes" to his calling.
I can't tell how this will play out. We said vows down on the yacht, but we're not even legally married.
At the end of the day, I just want to make him happy--and be happy myself.
I know Sky will always have my heart, but can I keep his? Can we find a way to block out all the noise and build a life together?

Omg the pain they go through 😫

I really liked it. I am glad I got curious about them after reading Wrath because Pastor Luke and Vance story is beautiful.

Rain baby aka Vance is the most caring and supportive person ever, he is so compassionate towards everyone but specially Luke. He understands how hard it is for Luke to get to where they want to be and he is there by his side, even when Luke makes it hard for him. I love him❤️
Now Sky baby aka Pastor Luke , he is amazing. He is so intelligent, emotional, calm and collected, he is the image of a Pastor but he is a Pastor at heart too. He doesn’t do it by obligation, but by love. The love he has for Rain baby and his convictions are rock solid. This book has really good discussions about faith, churches and the guilt some people feel by going “against” what religions are about. Luke is very conflicted and he feels like he is swimming against the tide.
The ABSOLUTE HIGHLIGHT OF THIS BOOK WAS WHEN MY BABY EZRA FROM WRATH appeared!!!! Omg I cried again just remembering how sad and emotional Wrath is and how BROKE Ezra was. The scene in this book is normal but if you read Wrath than you would feel all the feels and I loved it ❤️❤️❤️

I went into this book with my expectations set low because, as much as I rated the second book on sheer enjoyment, I’m fully aware that this series is a bit of a mess. For some reason, though, I keep having fun reading it. I had fun with this final book, too—even if sometimes that meant laughing at what I’m sure were supposed to be serious, dramatic moments—but my sense of fairness to all my other 3-star books prevents me from rounding up because all the flaws of the second book were amplified in this one. Ridiculous, OTT plot developments, sloppy editing, the MCs sometimes still stuck in the same patterns as 2 books ago, out-of-nowhere sappy developments… you name it, this book had it. In case you’re wondering, yes, Luke and Vance are still going at it like hypersexual bunnies and they still don’t show the slightest sign of knowing what the refractory period is.
There were good things mixed in all that, especially the part about but it’s difficult to see those without all the rest. As ridiculous and OTT as they often are, though, I seem to have a soft spot for this couple and I had fun reading this. Hence the 2 stars, even though if it’d been any other couple or any other story, I would’ve DNF’d and returned it after the first few chapters.

This book is entirely indulgent but you won’t catch me complaining. Give me all the hot, kinky sex, the mass amounts of I love you’s and the cuteness! Oh my uterus, the complete and utter cuteness!!

Even when things seem to be be exactly as they should, how my boys dreamed, there’s always something to put a chink in their armor. But they’re made of tougher stuff than can ever come their way.

In Adore I fell head over heels for Luke. He didn’t fail to keep that love. Most especially when he did his first sermon after coming out. It was heartfelt, powerful and so beautiful it hurt. I cried ugly tears!

In this I fell hard for Vance. I don’t want to give away everything that comes to pass. But for those of you who know, a certain event changed everything for him. And he tackled it with head, heart and soul and goddam was it breathtaking! Not to mention so stinking cute!!

I seriously hated for this to end. It felt like the end of an era.

[This review covers all three books in the On My Knees series]

This is unhinged. I'm aware, but I've written it all and it's not wrong, so I'm going with it 🥳 There are also bits of spoilers, but whatever I don't care. You have been warned.

Do you like to read about balls tautening? Yes? CONGRATULATIONS! This series is for you 🤣 Seriously, I'm not sure I've read the phrase "my balls tautened" before this book, but boy does the phrase get used A LOT in this series. It's not that there's really anything wrong with it, but it sure does sound weird in the middle of a spicy scene 🙃 Toward the end, I wanted to scream, "Nooooo not the balls tautening again!" It just makes me think of a dude jumping in ice water or something idk this series made my brain melt a little. I'm so glad I'm done. Maybe I can shove my brain in the freezer and hope what melted reconstitutes.

You know, I really wanted to write a thorough, well thought out review of this series because of all the feelings I had about it, but sitting here now, I don't think I have it in me. I AM EXHAUSTED. This series has exhausted me 😔 Part of that is on me because I could have just stopped after book two and been relatively happy. But no. I picked up book three to finish it out because of course I needed to continue, right? Nope. I would have been better off leaving it at book two. Yet, I persisted. I wanted to stop 2 hours into book three and dnf because I felt that in my heart. AND YET my dumbass kept going convinced it would get better. SPOILER ALERT - it did not 🫠

The brief summary goes as follows:

Book One - Short, sweet, porny setup, can't be too mad about it

Book Two - A sexy, enjoyable exercise in frustration

Book Three - What in the ever-loving hell is happening and why haven't I dnf'd?

The unhinged rant part of it all, thoughts in no particular order:

I don't believe there are two hornier characters than Luke and Vance. They literally could not stop doing it. They did it so much I was sick of it. Like did not care. I'm sure if they could do it while doing it they would have, like inception banging. Banging while banging while banging. It was that bad. At one point, I think it was Vance that made a comment about how he was basically dying because they hadn't done it in 24 hours 🙄

Also, for two people very concerned about how they were going to be perceived by the church congregation they sure couldn't stop banging AT THE CHURCH. Seriously? Banging at the church is a choice to begin with, but is it one you want to make over and over again at risk of getting caught if you're the pastor and want everyone to accept that you're gay? If they didn't care, fine whatever, but the entire point of this last book was working toward acceptance, so I'm not really sure the rationale there 😂 Even if most of the people were good with the pastor being gay, I'm not sure they wanted to find him balls deep in the stairwell. I'm pretty sure that would go for him being gay, straight, or otherwise. It didn't even feel risqué. It was too dumb for that.

While there was already a bunch of drama going on, a baby was added to the mix 🙃 Now, I'm all for them adopting if they want, but the way it was done was a bit weird and off-putting. They take in a baby surrendered at the church drop off, which is lovely in itself. The thing that I hated about it was how they talked about her like an object. No exact quotes, but things along the lines of "It's no big deal if this doesn't work out and the mother takes her back, we can get another baby whenever, no biggie" were said multiple times 😬

In one more what the hell moment, Vance's never before present father shows up to announce he's gay and that he now wants a relationship with Vance. Ok whatever who cares at this point 🥴 The kicker is that Vance hated the guy and within the span of nearly no time is basically like, "He's not so bad, all is well."

There was more I wanted to say, but I can't give any more brain power to this. I've reached a point of catharsis after getting this all out, and now I can move on 😌 I've got to say, it's bit sad though because I think there were some really good points that got lost in the midst of all the madness. I think a good edit could have made this into one excellent book that contained the message I think the author was trying to portray about acceptance and the church.

“You want me to take your name?” He cups the back of my head. “I want you to take my everything, Rayne.

Communion is book three of the On My Knee’s series. Communion picks up right where Adore left off, thus continuing our journey with Sky and Rayne. This is an MM romance. Vance and Luke face many difficulties and challenges in this book.

"Not everyone knows beauty when they see it, Vanny. They don't know what they have even when it's standing right in front of them.”

Book three is lengthier than the other two so we get a lot more than expected. It has plenty of spice and love scenes, some laughter and some serious moments, even a few scary moments that will have mama bear coming out. LoL.

"There's a lot of fucked up shit out there. When you find something good, you've gotta hold onto it with two hands.”

I really felt like there was a more powerful/heavier message in this book, maybe I took it for something it’s not but it could really be eye opening for what a lot of people go through.

“God loves everyone. The essence of God is love. And love is unconditional.”

It’s never fun to be judged, treated badly, have curse words and slurs swung at you. This is the reality for millions of people. Honestly, people should learn to mind their own business. Let people live and love and be loved. It’s not your business who someone loves and it doesn’t affect you in any way. Don’t like it, don’t watch it. It’s completely free for people to mind your own business and not throw words like swords because of who someone is.

"All us humans are made of the same stuff. We have the same heart."

Sorry this review took a turn and got a little heavy but this book got my brain thinking and moving. I think everyone deserves love and acceptance with no questions asked.

"Hugging you is what I live for, baby. This is why I wait in the wings."

I enjoyed reading this series, it is fiction but I think some of it holds some truths.

Happy Reading 📖

Your favorite men are back and you’ll fall in love all over again. Vance and Luke will finally get their hard earned HEA and I loved every minute of their journey. Ella is about to turn your world upside down and fill it with steamy moments and more love than you can handle. Including quite a few unexpected surprises and laugh out loud moments courtesy of your favorite artist.

It’s life after coming out and letting love in. Their path won’t be easy but they will both find their purpose and all their struggles will be worth it.

Luke is a bit broken after the world found out his deepest, darkest secret and almost losing the love of his life. Now he's struggling. Working to make a new normal and embrace his true self, all while remaining true to his faith and his calling. He'll be dragged down into the darkness, but Vance will be his light.

Vance is pure sunshine. I absolutely adore his quirky little nicknames and the way he loves Luke. The man is all in and wears his heart on his sleeve. No one is without a friend when he is near and it made me love him even more than I already did. He is Luke's rock, his safe place to land, his soul mate.

Luke and Vance two will be challenged. They'll need to do some soul searching to figure out what's most important and what their future looks like. It's not an an easy road but it's a road worth traveling. You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll want more (because there is never enough V & L) but you'll be left feeling happy and fulfilled. The author delved deep into the pain of accepting your true self and then battling with what your life should look like. The hurt that goes along with a public persona and the hate people inflict so freely when they feel threatened or don't understand. There are messages of unconditional love and acceptance. At its heart, the story is about a family, of their own making, that loves without limits or reservations. Two men who fell in love and want to change the world and make it better. An epically beautiful love story.

This book was so terrible it made me angry. I enjoyed the first two books quite a lot because they had this air of elicitness that was just delicious; the tension between Pastor Luke's secret life with Vance and his real life was great. And for sure their story needed an epilogue, because imagine the pastor of a multimillion-dollar megachurch was publicly gay in real life - I'd love to see the fallout from that, but this ain't it man. Very little happens in this very long book, it was pages and pages of Luke and Vance - now out to the world as a gay couple - being insufferable with like a few truly unnecessary plots points thrown in. There's a lot of sex in here, which I usually have no issues with but holy hell, did it get repetitive and boring. I also found it difficult to navigate whose perspective we were in, the back and forth first-person switching was confusing, compounded by the terrible nicknames, I honestly lost track of who was who. Their voices were just not distinct enough, they ended up merging into this frankenperson that I honestly despised by the end. The cheesy and cringey dialogue did not help at all. And what was with So much of it just felt nonsensical. This whole book was in bad taste and I was really really disappointed with it after I enjoyed the first two so much.

Ella James brought me "On My Knees" with her poignant writing in Communion. It's a timeless story of selfless love. And the powerful message of love is love cannot be portrayed any better than the angsty and heartrending love story of Luke and Vance. My heart is swooning and dying a slow but blissful death from overload of intense feels. And I won't have it any other way.

Artist Vance Rayne and Pastor Luke McDowell are going to create the most notorious storm of the century. Because their love isn't normal for many people. There are going to be haters, manipulators, religious fanatics and all kinds of negative media publicity. Luke has to navigate his ways as Evermore, his church and his calling is getting lots of whiplash. Vance has to stay with him at any cost. Their life is going to get so much worse before it gets beautiful. And I am here for the ride.

Where do I even start? This story can get real sensitive because religion and humanity are going to collide and explode. Luke's speech was the most moving thing I have read in a long time. I actually stopped reading and cried silently till I could put myself together. The heartbreak and the malice isn't something they deserve. But their love is strong. Pure. Something that can move heaven and earth. They are so explosive and enigmatic together. This story is also a beacon of hope. Of new beginning. No matter how hard and rocking the journey is, Luke and Vance came out on the other side with their love stronger. The world is still far from accepting but still the compassionate hands are coming forward. Their life is also having some amazing surprises and I swear my heart couldn't take that beauty. Also this was a smoking hot story. Like nuclear hot. Pantymelting hot. Drooling, blushing and aching kind of hot. I fall so much more in love with Luke and Vance. Vance's sweet selfless and all loving heart. And Luke's tortured possessive and controlling heart. And their epic chemistry. They couldn't have a better happily ever after.

Communion by Ella James made me break and also made me whole. This story is full of heartwarming emotions and it's my all time favourite MM romance.

Vance and Luke are my second favorite MM couple! The duet was one of my favorite reads so I had high expectations about this book.
Ella James delivered. These two are passion and heartbreak combined and you can feel their chemistry pouring out of the pages.
If course their love is not paved in roses and Luke had a lot to come to terms with.
I think the author captures their difficult relationship and the obstacles that society puts between them.
If you enjoyed the first two books, you will love this.

I have already purchased this series!! I knew early on in book 2 that I had to own this series! It truly has 𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙍𝙔𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙉𝙂 and brings out all of the emotions!

I have never been more sad to finish a series. Pastor Luke & Vance the Artist, a forbidden but yet powerful couple, definitely get the couple of a lifetime award! They had me falling harder in love with them at every turn of the page…over & over again!😍 They made me weak in the knees with their intense loyal love for one another. This series is a beautiful and precious, heartbreaking at times, love story that brings 🅐🅛🅛 🅣🅗🅔 🅕🅔🅔🅛🅢 x10.

Half of the book is sex and the other half is conversations, inner-conversations with themselves & conversations with each other.
By half I don't mean first and second half but like number. They fucked 'till the last pages ✨

I was (still am while I write this) in a depressive mood but not like depression and more like overthinking on things I know but questioning the situations of them, so it felt so fucking good.

He drapes his palm over my cock, rubbing as his forehead comes to mine. "I think you need to be punished."

Too much sex scenes didn't bother me cuz' they were not pure porn; they were sensual, emotional, carnal, hot, naughty, desperate, heart-breaking, tearful, and beautiful.

C’mon, God. This one’s your star player. Help a brother out, dude. Dudette. I don’t know your gender. Just help us.

The other matter, I don't care what bible says or my own religion islam says about lgbtq+, and I loved how James handled well. Likewise reading all these 'conversations' did not bore me at all.

I'm not even getting into daddy-papa adopting an abounded baby daughter thing or I'm gonna...

Ahh being back with some of my favs was the best!! I missed them.

The first few chapters seemed to be sex, sex and more sex but these two are super sexual beings so I can understand how it makes sense to show that part of their relationship and how they both need each other so much. But then Ella slowly started to build up those emotional moments and the angst. She really brought it on in this book! It was heart-wrenching reading about these two going through so many hard times and questioning their calling and what to do about their future.

But you know I love my emotional reads so I loved this book! Luke and Vance are one of my fav MM couples and I enjoy any time I get to spend with them and this book!! It was sexy, emotional as heck, super sweet and romantic and dealt with so many important issues. I adore this book and I think Ella did such a beautiful and impactful job with these characters and their story, especially Luke. His speeches were so well written, important and beautiful!

I wish I could talk about certain things that happened in this book but talking about them is a spoiler so I won’t! But ahhh it was so adorable at times, I just really love where Ella took this book and these two and although she put them through some hard times, she gave them so much and really made their relationship and journey even more special. And I’m so curious about this new character that was introduced! I can’t wait for his book!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

Finally, he's mine, and can say that out in public. Luke McDowell, one of the most beloved public figures in America, is my forever. At least that's what we said. But love is different in the harsh glare of the spotlight. Sometimes it feels like the whole worlds against us. Now our unofficial honeymoon is over. Luke is back at Evermore, trying to live the life ha had before he met me. Trying to say "yes" to his calling. I cant' tell how this will pay out. This is the third book in the On My Knees Series from Ella James. You have to read the first two books before this one or you're going to be very lost. Those are Worship and Adore. I am so in love with these two characters and in case you didn't know this is a m/m romance and it has been quiet the journey for Vance and Luke. I have loved them for a long time and so wanted them to get the happily every after they just seemed to fight so hard for and deserved. This book is full of moments that will melt your heart and will certainly melt your kindle but you will also be on the edge of your seat at times. There is a lot that happens in this book I can say that but I don't want to really give anything away about it that will spoil it for someone. I didn't even read the book description and just dove right on in and loved it so much. These are two characters and a story that will live in my heart for a long time.

Firstly, huge thanks to Ella and her sister for the ARC copy of this book!

I've really enjoyed this series , and was more than happy when the boys got their HEA. But to have a continuation of their story, and get a huge HEA, well this was just the topping on the cake!

I absolutely adored this book and reading it, you could tell it was written from a special place in Ella's heart.

I don't want to do spoilers, as this is an ARC review so I try my best to avoid them, when doing ARCs. Suffice it to say, this is a busy book, so much happens to our boys. They are loved, hated, confused, and gifted with very special life altering gifts. I felt this book right to my bones. It is a lesson, in life, love, kindness and giving, and most importantly just being yourself,

It is beautiful.

We meet new people, and revelations are made, but best of all. . . We find out this is not the end! At least one new character it seems, may get a book too! And what a lovely, athough, still secretive character he is.
I'm really looking forward to his story. And maybe a couple of others!?

Thank you Ella.

I missed Vance and Luke so much and I desperately needed this book!!! I reread the first two books in this series and it just put me in that whole mind frame of being emotionally ready for Communion.

This final book follows our boys after the insane events of the end of Adore. While Luke and Vance are solid, the world isn’t fully ready to accept Pastor Luke in his current “out” status and it creates a lot of turmoil for the man. He has always loved his congregation and his relationship with God, but he is struggling with how they see him and fearing that his decision to come out could possibly hurt the church. While he manages his fears, Vance does his best to stick by him and be whatever he needs him to be. But Vance has his own insecurities and it was heartbreaking to watch him fear he wasn’t enough.

In Communion, we get to see how their relationship grows and gets stronger. And some BIG surprises are unwrapped, too!! Not to mention all the blistering heat we have come to expect from the On My Knees series... seriously, these books are HOTTTTT!!!

Thank you to Ella James for my early review copy in exchange for my honest thoughts!!

Luke and Vance are in love with each other and aren’t hiding it from the world. They have an amazing time together until Luke has to go back to what he feels called to do but how will that change things? They love each other but is that enough?

Absolutely Amazing

On My Knees Series by @authorellisjames
…………..
Book 1: Worship
Book 2: Adore
Book 3: Communion
…………….
“He is exaltation and contrition, ecstasy and penitence. This knotted, barbed wire thing—this quiet war between us—this is worship.”
…………….
I absolutely fell in love with Luke and Vance from the start! This series draws you in from the first chapter and has you on the edge of your seat to see where it goes. It will pull your heart strings but give you hope that it will all work out.
……………
“Look for me in your dreams, Rayne. I’ll be the warm light. I’ll be holding you together.”
……………..
Luke is a famous pastor of a mega church called Evermore. His father was the pastor before him and he was raised in his Christian beliefs his whole life. But Luke has a secret, he is gay, and being gay and a pastor is as taboo as you can get. He struggles with this weight on his shoulders his whole life until a crazy artist drops on to his boat in the middle of the night and creates waves. Vance is confident and secure in his sexuality but one night on a boat with a handsome stranger changes his life in ways he could never imagine. The Pastor and the Artist. A forbidden love but one worth changing the world for.
……………
“I was made by God, in His image. I don't believe I'm less than, or this part of me is sinful. Every part of me is beautiful. Every part of you is beautiful. “
……………
This is a beautiful story of love and compassion and acceptance. It’s perfectly written and the words of scripture and the interpretation of the Bible is magnificent. This story goes beyond just being a love story, it’s about overcoming societal views, persevering when it feels like the world is against you and taking something that scares people and making it life changing. It truly gives you hope for a better future. I highly recommend this series and if you have or have not read Wrath by @authorellisjames I also believe you should read it because there is a cross over between these books and I absolutely loved how it was done!

Book 3 and the final instalment in the On My Knees Series.
First, the cover... I did not like it at all. It just did not fit with the covers from the other books in the series, just aesthetically wrong.

I was perfectly happy with the way Adore ended, but was curious enough to wonder what we would get in this third installment.

Again, this too could have been 150 pages less, easily. Besides the frequent and long sex scenes, it felt like issues were addressed that I thought had already been dealt with and other were just there, making it sometimes confusing.
Also, this book needs a thorough editing with words missing, sentences not working and names being used incorrectly. Maybe the author too got lost with all the different names she has the MC's used for each other?

Part of the On My Knees Series and must be read in order:
Prelude (On My Knees Duet, #0.5) by Ella James Worship (On My Knees Duet, #1) by Ella James Adore (On My Knees Duet #2) by Ella James Communion (On My Knees #3) by Ella James

3.5 stars - I am really torn on this one. On the one hand, I was perfectly content believing this story ended with the last book, but was excited to see we were apparently getting more.  However, after my initial excitement over seeing these two again dissipated, I started struggling with a few things in the story.

The biggest issue I had overall was that I felt like I missed a lot of things or that we had jumped back and were facing things that had already been faced or overcome.  For example, I thought Luke had already come out to the church, but we find that while that is the case, he and Vance's relationship is pretty much still in the closet.

Understandably, we take a step back as the backlash of the congregation is being felt and Luke struggles with his place as leader and an openly gay man and whether those two can actually coincide.  This causes a lot of stress on Vance, who is basically living on pins and needles waiting for the other shoe to drop and Luke to simply say he is unable to do it (their relationship).
They go back and forth quite a bit, but interspersed throughout that is the crazy sex they can't seem to not have when they are near each other.  It was hot, but it really took some of the depth away from their overall story, in my opinion.

There were other things that popped up seemingly out of nowhere, i.e. the baby, the baby mom, the mysterious homeless guest, Vance's father, etc. that just seemed to be thrown in with greater frequency the longer the story went.  So, while I enjoyed seeing these guys again and could totally feel the struggles Luke (and Vance) faced, this was not my favorite of the series by far.  That aside, even though it felt like we had to pull teeth to learn any details about Miller, the homeless intruder, I am looking forward to seeing his story play out.

COMMUNION… is going to be a 3 stars erotic finale for me. I didn’t even know there was going to be a third book, but happy I finally reread the books to see how this trilogy ended.

For someone who has struggled with religion their entire lives, this series was a real eye opener for me, as do all erotic books that deal with religion do. (Lotta unpack there, yikes). This entire series had me deep thinking, especially in some chapters. I’m so grateful I’m in a generation that is becoming more and mode open to LGBTQ+ community, especially churches. I related to Pastor Luke so, so much throughout this series and it made me see things about myself I didn’t realize I suppressed. I'm happy Vance and Luke got their happy ending. I'm happy that in the end there will always be more good that pushes out any bad that happens in life.

Ir hurts my soul that there's so many people in close minded religions and churches that make them go their entire lives not being able to be happy and free. It hurts that they feel hopeless and alone not knowing things can change and be different. I hope this series inspires people to seek the help that they may need or help others too. Inspires others to come out to friends and family in safe environments. I pray one day the world will let people love, always love, because love is love is love.

Might update this review later and rephrase or add more commentary later, but for now. If the forbidden, erotic, religious genre is your go-to then this trilogy is best for you. If you like reading about real life problems with heavy angst then this trilogy is right up your ally.

Truly deserve 5 ⭐️ fuckin stars!
Dear Author, thank you for giving me twisted emotions while reading this and questioning why the hell world is so cruel about love and Kendra, you need to take full responsibility because I need more of this.

"Being gay hurts no one, It something is rooted in love, it's probably not a sin at all"

Truth be told, this book shows me how cruel the life of the gay pastor! I get it why and what people think because he is like an icon but come on, it doesn't have to be that way. What's wrong with being gay or straight or lesbian or bi? It's just a matter of preference! If anyone doesn't like them being that way, just don't do anything. Keep it to yourself that you don't like it and it won't hurt anybody! That simple. But yeah, people are always that way anyway

I'm lost in words. Truly. This book is well written and puts all of my emotions in the same bottle. The interpretation of the bible is also written damn well. The anxiety and insecurity of the main characters (Luke and Vance) were unbearable when it comes to loving each other.

World is cruel for Gay people, especially if you are a Pastor. What I love about this book is this one. Luke is a pastor and he is gay. He tried to open up to the world about who he truly is and what is his sexuality but the world did not accept him with open arm. Guess what? because he is a pastor. He is an icon and being gay categorize as a sin. Also, because Luke as pastor stated that being Gay is okay, society think that's they have approval because he is a Pastor. Like, "come on, you guys need to start believing in yourself that it's okay to have your own opinions about something"

"Not everyone in the church believes that being gay...or bi... or trans...or pan... is a sin. In fact, you would be surprised to know how many people don't. But you know what? These people are often in the closet"
"Gay love has been stigmatized and mocked and talked about politely for a long, time. and The world is still so fucked up for gay kids, and I fucking hate that"
- that's a fact and still happening nowadays

Development on each character , Luke and Vance deserve the world. They need to know that it's okay not to be okay and they take a big step by marrying each other and just be with it like fuck the world, this is my life was truly a big turn event for them. I love every single part of it. They finally accept that their life doesn't revolve around people's opinions and they do help other LGBTQ communities in this book was a blast. I'm whipped

Plot Twist, not really shocking event but when Miller and Raymond appear I have suspicious things going on about them but oh boy, I was wrong. It was good and written that well, then Luke and Vance helping them both and accepting them as part of their life was a whole another level up.

Romance and Smut, you have them all baby. The smut is not really that hot but on the average amount because it was more focused on the plot which I appreciate is still happening in the middle of the storyline. But, it was good enough and mesmerizing.

To conclude, this book is something else. I was captivated because the author brings the issue of being gay when you are a public figure in another lever. Truly, this book is sweet and angsty at the same time. Luke and Vance needed to be saved at all cost.

I hope every single fuckin mother/ father or parents for LGBTQ kids has the same mother as Luke's.

I’m so conflicted right now.

The first two books in this series blew me away. I was so overwhelmed by all the feels it wasn’t even funny. But this third installment… I don’t know what to think.

But first, I must be clear about that no matter my feelings (which are all over the place at the moment), this is a very well-written story with the most engaging of topics. And it’s steamy like you wouldn’t believe (maybe even too much so).

Also, I’m totally in love with the cover. It’s gorgeous in an I’d-love-to-hang-it-on-my-wall kind of way.

I mean. Just look at it!

So, this story, addressing the topic of religion and homosexuality (or any queerness really) is probably pretty darn controversial to some people. Being non-religious myself, I don’t have any such hang-ups but even so, the sheer amount of fucking these guys engage in – in the church – is a bit over the top.

It’s so excessive in fact, throughout the book, that it gets old pretty fast. Maybe because it’s repetitive. Maybe because Vance and Luke both have the stamina like 18-year olds on Viagra. Maybe it’s simply that all that D action detracts from the story.
And it also happens at the strangest of times. Like, when Luke’s mother comes to visit for the first time, Luke drags Vance off to a closet to fuck him. Or, when Vance and are assaulted, and he calls Luke afterwards, it turns to dirty talk instead of Luke checking that Vance and are okay.

I thought that Luke’s internal struggle, and coming out as gay pastor was intriguing as all get out. Unfortunately, despite mostly all of V’s and PL’s conversations touching on this subject, the focus was still on their physical relationship.

And for all the controversy and supposed outrage from people within the church and the Christian community, the story was still told in a way that pretty much kept Vance and Luke in a bubble of their own. The interactions with other people were few and superficial. Most of it was off-page and re-told instead of shown. Towards the end, there were more actual interactions though, and more characters were introduced. But for a long time, Vance and Luke were completely isolated, despite the story trying to paint them as being beleaguered.

But. I mean, I have all these reservations. Despite that, this story still gave me all the feels. ALL the feels. Which is really what books are all about. So I think I’ll carry this story with me for a long time, just as I did (do) with its prequels Worship and Adore.

So, I’m giving this a 4-star rating. But I highly recommend it. Just be prepared for an inordinate amount of fucking.

I loved the continuation of Vance and Luke’s story in Communion. I was hooked in with these characters from the moment I read the Prelude story, and then grew to love them over the course of Worship and Adore. Definitely read these books first if you haven’t already.
There is a stack of heat in this one and a little side of kink. It has a more serious tone blended in with all the hotness, and quite a few lovely tender moments too. It is a layered and interesting series. Communion sees the couple trying to live their lives together without losing the lives they had built individually before. Can Luke convince Evermore to be supportive and open to his choice, or will he lose everything he has built? The tension and uncertainty leap off the page. It is heartbreaking to know that there are so many that have to experience similar anxiety, fear, and hurt caused by others judgement. The Q&A night was quite intense, but also well thought out. I love the introduction of Miller & Ollie and I am looking forward to discovering their stories soon. And Eden is a super sweet touch. This book has a lot more of the God/Church elements in it compared to the previous books, but that is to be expected as we see the men settle into their life together while Luke attempts to continue in his Calling. I adore the idea he has for evermore going forward and hope to see some books take place amongst that setting in the future.

Not as Good as the First Two, But I'm a Sucker for Rayne and Sky

So, did I enjoy this? Sort of.

Do I think it's worth reading if you liked the first two books? Maybe.

But I'm disappointed in E James for making the pacing of this book so off that it was all I could focus on.

Plus there were TOO MANY FADE-TO-BLACK SCENES.

I also felt that this book went in circles so many times and then randomly threw things in just for the sake of having certain tropes.

The resolutions to several conflicts felt forced, incomplete, and rushed.

Overall, I love this couple, but disliked this book.

Epic love story

Vance and Luke are back! Our favorite couple returns in the third book in the On My Knees series by Ella James. In Communion, Luke and Vance are married and facing many obstacles as they start their lives together. Luke is a gay mega church pastor struggling with coming out after keeping his secret for years. Vance is his anchor. Vance stands by his side as they deal with bigotry. This book (like the other books in the series) left me speechless. Ella takes us into the minds and hearts of these characters until we feel as if we are walking beside them on their journey. I could picture them eating their veggie burgers. I felt as if I was in the room with them when they were talking. This series is flawless and emotional. Communion will make you laugh. It will make you cry. Most importantly, Communion will make you root for these characters and cheer for them when they finally get their HEA. I was sad to see this series come to an end. Five stars for this brilliant, heartwarming series. Communion was the perfect ending to a series we all have come to love. ❤️
