To Be a Fae Queen is the first book in Tricia Copeland’s Realm Chronicles series. Enjoy epic fantasy novels with strong FMCs? Then this is going to be a book you don’t want to miss. Prepare to see Earth in a new and unique way!

To Be a Fae Queen grabs readers’ attention with the cover depicting the fae who will be crowned queen and face numerous challenges ahead of her. Depicted with high spikey reddish hair, gems, and glitter adorn her face. She appears to be turning to look at those who would pick up her story. Delicate wings reminiscent of dragonfly’s spread out from her back and downward speaking of their size. From the neck down the cover is filled with sparkles and glitter creating a state of dazzle.

To Be a Fae Queen is an engaging YA novel suitable for younger teen readers in the upward age range. As this story begins to unfold we are introduced to young Titania at the end of her day. Author Copeland depicts her dreading this moment, and it stirs the question of “Why?” You won’t have to wait long for the answer to this unasked question. Her mother. Is her mother gone? The simple answer is…no, she is not. But there is something going on that keeps her mother from her in another way. Of course, there is more to the story than just this.

To Be a Fae Queen lays out some backstory concerning Titania’s life to this point. She has suffered great loss and the impact of it all weighs heavily upon all in her family. The fighting with a group of creatures called kobold has wrung a heavy price for not just the kingdom, but their family especially. Titania’s mother carries the guilt of several losses on herself.

Titania is an interesting character. She wishes to aid her father in the fight, but he’s reluctant to allow her. On the one hand, it’s understandable, she has already been through a lot. With the further estrangement of relatives, she is alone except for her father. Being shut up in the castle hasn’t really done her any favors either, but she has found ways to keep herself “entertained” so to speak.

However, don’t let this momentary lull make you think that things are going to be quiet for long in To Be a Fae Queen. An attack is looming and Titania will be just what her father and the kingdom need to finally gain a true moment of peace.

Titania knows her worth, even for a child such as herself. At the young age of 15, she is quite skilled in many things. Her father has been grooming her to become the next monarch of the land after the tragedies suffered by her family. As you keep reading deeper into To Be a Fae Queen you’ll find that she’s a rather determined young woman. So, when she finds an opportunity to step up? She does it with both feet! Readers will applaud her initiative. Unfortunately, not everyone in this book will feel the same way.

There will be one scene in this story that will have you fearing the worst for Titania’s family. Her father has been injured. While he survives his wounds, he makes a decision that will shock all…he passes his reign to his daughter. Now, this won’t seem alarming or that shocking to some, but he’s ignoring the laws by choosing to crown her so young. Of course, chaos erupts in one who craves the power that Titania now holds.

If there is one thing that To Be a Fae Queen has a lot of it is chaos and drama. LOL! But it really makes for an interesting story. You will be page-turning to find out what happens next and how things play out. Titania is literally going to be going from one problem to another, to another. It’s almost like it’s never-ending. Yes, she gets a break now and then, but author Copeland wants readers engaged, and boy are we!

Readers will appreciate that in To Be a Fae Queen Titania is made to work for and push for things that she wants. Of course, she does take things over the top several times when it comes to a boy or her own perception of how she thinks things should be done. In those instances we found her to be the petulant teen that she wishes not to be viewed as. Is there some relatability to some of her behavior? Yes, to an extent. Does it make it right? Only by biased perception. LOL! Sorry, not sorry.

Hoping for some romance in this book? Well, the good news, is that there is! Obviously, since we mention her getting fiery behind insinuations concerning a boy. LOL! You’re going to get hints of “forbidden” romance vibes. She’s queen, he’s a soldier, can this be? Will this be able to work out? Will someone in the castle of the High Council stand in the way? Or will something else come along to derail the budding romance? Lots of questions, right? Good news? All will be answered before the end of this story!

Readers will get to witness Titania grow and develop as a young woman and a queen throughout To Be a Fae Queen. She shows some moments of maturity, but that takes time. This story focuses heavily on Middle Earth, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t “flit” to the other realms a couple of times for various reasons. The visits are very brief, but author Copeland also points out the dynamic differences between each which helps keep them unique.

Titania’s story moving forward is sure to be an interesting one and one that many readers who read and enjoy this book will wish to continue. Author Copeland will leave readers lingering with questions concerning Titania’s mother, and her own magick. The good news though is that they will still thoroughly enjoy this book and how the storyline unfolds from beginning to end.

Readers who enjoy capable female main characters, vivid storylines, plenty of twists, turns, and tons of drama will not want to miss out on this YA fantasy novel. It will absolutely appeal to readers who enjoy stories with fae, witches, and a darkness that threatens all. Don’t miss out and grab a copy of To Be a Fae Queen today!!

Pros:
Engaging storyline
Interesting characters
Lots of twists and turns
Hints of romance
Page-turner
Clean story

Cons:
The main character’s paranoia & lack of trust, especially toward her own father.

To be a Fae Queen (Realm Chronicles Book 1) by Tricia Copeland is a YA paranormal fantasy and it is a story that is easy to lose yourself in. This story has everything you need to keep you enthralled. There is action and danger, lies and deceit, with faeries and a variety of characters and creatures. As Tricia said, “evil lurking in Lower Earth and someone is needed to resolve that issue” and Titania and her army of faeries are just the ones to do it. Tricia's writing takes you to the most vividly magical places. It is a wonderful start to the series.

I really enjoyed this book! Anyone with an interest in royal intrigue, fantastical worlds, or magical trials should read this.

To Be a Fae Queen follows Titania, the princess of Aubren, as she unravels a series of sinister plots facing her kingdom. The kobold, an evil entity from the world below her own, invaded Middle Earth and slaughtered her brothers several years earlier. When Titania correctly predicts and dispels a new Kobold attack, she is called upon to take her place as Queen. However, her reign will not be an easy one, as Titania continues to face threats and betrayal from all sides, including among those counted as trusted companions. Titania must grapple with the ever-growing threat of the Kobold, unravel the true purpose behind the sudden attacks, and determine how best to preserve the safety of upper and middle earth, all while defending her right to rule from those within the castle and throughout the fae realm who would take it from her by force.

My favorite things about To Be a Fae Queen were definitely the characters and the world building. Copeland does a wonderful job of introducing you to the lore of the fae realms, their respective type of creatures, the separation of Upper, Middle, and Lower Earth, and the functionality of the fae rulers and kingdoms. The character development that occurs throughout the book is very compelling, you really start to root for Titania as she comes into her own. There were definitely moments towards the beginning of the book that I found her choices frustrating as a reader, but that serves as the necessary foundation for her character's growth throughout the rest of the book. No spoilers, but I loved the way some of the character arcs diverged from where I anticipated they would go, and I'm now left in suspense! So many alliances have formed and shifted already; I can't wait to see what will continue to unfold in book 2.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I'm excited to continue on this journey with Titania.

Thank you to Tricia Copeland for the review copy!

Update: I’ve recently been getting a lot of likes on my review but due to memory loss (I had brain surgery in Dec of 2021 for Pseudo Tumor Cerebri-False brain tumor. I have been losing my memory and I have to go back and listen to (preferably, because it’s also causing me to slowly lose my vision).
I definitely enjoyed listening to it a second time around! I couldn’t believe that I didn’t remember anything about the book and it was like reading it for the very first time (which I think can be a blessing and a curse). Sadly, the other books are not synced with audio and I may have to have Alexa read it to me! Those of you who’ve listened to Alexa read books, you understand why I’m not too excited about that. I am looking forward to really trying to catch up with this series. I only have Kindle Unlimited until the end of July. I listen to so many books so hopefully my health will keep me well enough to at least finish this series.
Thank you all for liking my previous review and as always, Happy Reading and/or Listening! 📚🎧💜

Bravo Tricia! You did a great job with this wonderful book! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it! I loved the storyline and the well developed characters. I really love the action that Ms. Copeland included and how she let us get a look into Titania’s life and rise to power. I love that Titania’s stubborn and always willing to fight for her people. I’ve felt like she might be too trusting in some people and not trusting enough in others! Those mistakes can be the downfall of her kingdom and people! I really literally cannot wait to read book 2. I’m very antsy to see what happens next!
I received an ARC of this book from the author, in return for my honest and unbiased review. Thank you.
As always my fellow Goodreader’s, I wish you happy Reading & Listening! 📚🎧💜

To be a Fae Queen is a book that snuck up on me. I usually plan my novels out and think about them for months, coming up with characters and plot before ever putting words on a page. But this book was different. First, I never intended to write a story about faeries. I had the opportunity to write in an anthology and the image on the anthology ad was a beautiful female faerie that I couldn't get out of my head. And the character of Titania was born in that image. Second, the anthology didn't accept my story. There were rigid guidelines. The story had to be about a fantasy character with a mental illness, hence Titania's anxiety/panic attacks early in the story. But not one to waste a story, I sent it to my subscriber list, first titled Titania of the Faye and later Titania Rises, and used it as a reader magnet. Third, not one to drop a character into nothingness, I included Titania in Kingdom of War. If you've read the finale to my Kingdom Journals series, you'll remember Hunter searches for a faerie to help him fight Sonia and finds Titania in the forest of Australia. Fourth, I couldn't let Titania or the Kingdom Journals characters go. There is still an evil lurking in Lower Earth and someone needed to resolve that issue. Enter Titania and her army of faeries. I think I got sidetracked on what this list was about. Still, six, I had a hard time writing in 2020. But I always write for NaNoWriMo (November, National Novel Writing Month) and set a goal of getting 50k into Titania's story. Still, I had no plot or character list save Titania, her mother and father, Alfreda, Foster (the love interest), and a few generals and advisors. But I started writing anyway. Just put words to page, what would happen next, what would happen after that, etc. But I still had no real plot, no bad guy until half way through November when a villain started to appear. But I don't want to spoil the story for you, so I'll stop here. To be a Fae Queen turned out to be my longest book yet at 108k words and I love these characters so much the book is the first in my new Realm Chronicles series, the second of which I am writing now.

Main character was likable but overall characters were a bit flat.

I loved crystal magic! And the world was intriguing too but this was completely lacking worldbuilding. New creatures came to the picture from nowhere all the time...

This didn't have much action, and I think some editing would have been needed.

"To Be a Fae Queen" by Tricia Copeland is the first installment in the Realm Chronicles series. The story begins years after Titania’s four brothers were killed in battle against the fierce kobold army. With their deaths and the loss of other warriors, Titania becomes the sole heir to the throne. Her father, burdened with too few soldiers, struggles to protect her, guard the Faerie Ring, and defend against the kobold threat.

As more magical crystals are taken, the Faerie Ring begins to weaken. Determined to act, Titania secretly discovers the kobolds' entry point into their realm. At just fifteen, she is crowned queen—though many doubt her capability. But Titania is strong-willed and fearless, ready to do whatever it takes to protect her kingdom. As the realm's first female monarch, she is determined to prove herself.

This is a gripping, fast-paced fantasy with well-crafted characters. Titania’s strength and resolve make her an inspiring figure, especially for young female readers. Tricia Copeland’s vivid imagination brings this magical world to life. If you're a fan of young adult fantasy, this book is a must-read.

Be part of a fantasy adventure with the book "To Be a Fae Queen" by Tricia Copeland.
The main plot revolves around a girl named Titania, who discovers that she is the heir to a magical land called the Fae Kingdom. She never considered it, and even those around her were uncertain about her abilities. As Titania steps into this new role, she faces numerous challenges. But, she quickly learns to protect her kingdom from enemies and prove her metal. Through her journey, she also discovers magical powers and her true identity.
The book unfolds an adventure filled with magic and surprising twists. The story teaches readers that with courage and support, they can become stronger—even when faced with doubt from others or their inner voices. It also demonstrates that leadership, friendship, and self-confidence are essential to achieving one's goals.
As a reader, I enjoyed the magical adventure, the strong female lead, and the journey of finding one's proper place in the world. I also appreciated the straightforward writing style and the fast-paced narrative, which kept me engaged from start to finish.

This is my first read by this Author and it most definitely will not be my last!! The Author has an exceptional talent with fantastic world building and amazing visualization; the Author makes you feel like you’ve known Titania, her royal family and their kingdom your whole life, feeling every bit of anger and frustration with them.

The kingdom and royal family remain broken from the past tragedy that took the lives of many. All characters in this book are well developed and engaging, everyone is vital to our lead characters’ development, as well as to her past.

We are given an amazingly fearless heroine lead, Titania, who is smart, fierce and strong enough to be able to put her kingdom before herself at the young age of 15. Although she is young, she is very relatable as we follow her journey of continuous obstacles and difficulties. She remains heartwarmingly humble, even as those known to her kingdom, turn against her rule.

I highly recommend reading this book, not only does it have beauuutiful artwork, it has an excellent storyline and the Author shows great attention to detail and to the background information that is helpful if you are new to the Fae genre.

The Author has created a captivating and interesting world of realms, I was drawn in and hooked by the end of the first chapters! I love that we are given maps of the kingdoms with an idea of where they are, in comparison to our current world.

This is a coming of age novel that contains a thrilling adventure of good vs evil, drama, loss and deceit,as well as family, friendships and love.

I will be ordering a copy of this book to have on the shelf for when my children are old enough to enjoy it! Add this to the list of strong character leads who are relatable even if they are in a different realm.

I am looking forward to reading the next instalment in the Realm Chronicles!

An exciting tale about the fairies of Middle Earth who are tasked with protecting the humans on Upper Earth from the evil from Lower Earth and the conflicts they face both from within and without their own ranks.

Titania is only 15 but is the next in line to the throne after her brothers die in combat. When she proves herself by defeating their enemy in battle, her father proclaims her queen leading to a coup by his closest advisor and a challenge to give the throne to his own son instead.

This story is full of suspense and adventure as Titania discovers many things about herself after being sheltered after her brothers deaths. She learns of deceit, betrayal, first love and grows in her determination to serve her kingdom as its ruler!

I really enjoyed this first book in this series and all the complex characters which Titania interacts with. She tries to make the right choices but it appears one of her friends may just have been using her and may have just betrayed her in the end.

There are more to come in this series and I’m excited to read the rest of the books and see where and what adventures await Titania and her friends as well as the obstacles and hurdles they’re going to have to face and overcome!

I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend this book to everyone looking to read a book of fantasy about young people who are now in charge of a country and the challenges they have and will have in governing and uniting a people to stand by their queen when it seems half the leaders want someone else!

This book held my interest throughout and I know it will hold yours! Give it a read- you’ll be glad you did!

A young headstrong Princess, dealing with the loss of her brothers, her mother not speaking since their deaths, anxiety,  and an over protective father, finds herself suddenly the Fae Queen! She quickly learns she can not always trust those she once thought she could. She fights to keep her crown while dealing with several issues threatening her kingdom. I felt connected to Titania from the beginning as I also deal with anxiety. How she was able to push her anxiety away while making new friends, meeting new fae and struggling to keep her kingdom safe was impressive. I can't wait to read more about her and all the other characters. Highly recommended!

This was my first experience with Tricia Copeland's work, and I enjoyed it very much. The world building was unique as the story was about the world of Fae. Titania, only fifteen, was appointed as queen. She grew up fast as some of her father's court members fought against her reign. The story was filled with twists and turns, some humor, and a little romance. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Jillian Yetter's narration was fine and entertaining. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

I wish I could be friends with Titania in real life.

I have SUCH a huge love for a main character who has to use diplomacy to forge alliances and solve social and political problems. It makes the 1st-person narration so effective -- I can tell what Titania's thinking so I can sympathize with how she struggles with making decisions and saying the right things, but her speech and actions are careful and measured. So through all of the hardship she faces, all of the bad interactions with other characters, all of the scary other creatures and beings that are on the horizon, I am rooting so hard for her to overcome -- I found myself muttering, when one thing went wrong after another, "you don't deserve that, you're trying so hard, you did everything right, that jerk bad guy doesn't understand!!!!!!" because I find this main character so easy to sympathize with.

And to clarify -- it's not that she's PERFECT. She's clearly in over her head sometimes, which keeps things tense and interesting and makes me want to see her grow and change some. But my point is that all the social and court drama comes from completely understandable decisions and differences in perspectives. It comes from realistic bad communication, not contrived or forced bad communication. It's all so NATURAL!

The plot is a good balance of spooky magic bad guys as well as political court drama. The romantic pairings and the questions surrounding them are believable and well-paced too.

This is one of my all-time favorite YA fantasy series. Really triumphant stuff here.

This book truly captured my heart right from the start, I love anything regarding Fae and the cover was so beautifully illustrated I could not say no to starting this series! The beauty of the world of the Fae came out alive, and the characters were so real and wonderful, especially Titania she is someone who had so much growth at the beginning of the novel and seemed to only grow as I read through!

Titania was more than just a remarkable character. She had lost a lot, and gained as ruler of her kingdom. With a heavy heart she was putting the kingdom's land best interest first. The path that is destined is not always seemed easiest even with the most light though. She had many options on how to ho about things, but was really was that her true fate and perhaps her stories she knew of within the deep of her land? Would a marriage be her downfall? She was very strong willed and I found she really put her heart in all she did! The book had me hooked as I said right from the start, as I read though, I was more and more under its spell. A lot of things happen, and seriously it made the book so captivating in many ways and I had to keep reading to see what Titania would have to face and endure!

The book was so well written. The characters and as well as the visual aspects of the novel itself, of Titania's world really came to life for me as a reader. I honestly felt I was in their world as well. I loved it and it was amazing, it was a remarkable book with a story that does not come along often. I for sure will be reading more in the series. This one hooked me and did not let me go. I really think a lot of people would enjoy this amazing author as well as be captivated by this novel as much as I was!

First of all thanks so much to Tricia for allowing me to read this ARC ahead of its official release.

What a book! I had to force myself to put it down and go about my life! I'm not usually a huge fan of epic fantasies but I must say, I'm so pleased that this is the first book of a series cause I don't want it to end.
Titania is a young Fae, rightful heir to the throne. But nothing comes easy for her, she is challenged throughout the whole book for not only her age but for her gender and her progressive ways. It was amazing to see this 16 year old stand up to grown powerful men, demand respect and fight for her Kingdom . And then there is this other side of her, still young yet so mature at the same time, often unsure and figuring out her feelings.

The book is packed full of action from all the trials Titania has to go through when her place on the throne is challenged to leading an army to battle to fight evil!
If you've read the Kingdom Journals series you might even get a lovely surprise half way through the book. I certainly didn't see that coming!

The beauty in Tricia's writing is her ability to take you to the most magical place. She keeps things simple yet every scene, every character and their surroundings are so well described, you can picture them perfectly in your head.

I can't wait for the second book which I will purchase as soon as it's available. Tricia Copeland did it again! ❤️
The book's official release is on the 26th March. Put the date in your diary and grab it straight away, you won't regret it!!!

I started this book worried that it would have the same plotline as every other Fae story that I have read lately, but I was so incredibly enthralled by it that I could not put it down until I was finished. I read it all in one sitting. Titania is struggling with her anxiety, which is something that I deal with as well – so this made the story even more interesting to me. The loss of her brothers before the story begins showed me a deeper purpose for her wanting to prove herself. For a girl (faerie) so young, it was incredible to watch her change into a regal and humble leader. From the challenge of a woman reigning over the kingdom, to the confusion regarding her emotions regarding the opposite sex, and the deception of people she assumed she could trust – this story literally had everything that I needed and wanted to see. I love that there is something mysterious surrounding her mother and that there is an unknown power that Titania possesses – it leaves so much more to be revealed in future books. The descriptions of where to find the faerie lands in reference to the world as we know it was extremely clever and made it all feel that much more real. I look forward to reading more about the upper and lower realms as well as discovering what happens as time goes on. Tricia Copeland did an amazing job with this story, and I will be reading any and everything of hers that I can get my hands on. Highly recommend!

To Be a Fae Queen is the first book in The Realm Chronicles by Tricia Copeland. This epic fantasy adventure is centered around a 15-year-old princess Titania, who is forced to take on the throne after the death of her three brothers. Her father trains her in weaponry, music, books and history making her a well-rounded capable woman. But, when the real calamity hits, he stonewalls his daughter and entrusts his army to trace the enemy. But when the army fails, Titania has to take the responsibility on herself to find this new enemy who is responsible of stealing something very valuable which belongs to her and her father.
This is a coming-of-age adventure princess story filled with action, mystery and danger. Titania is a very fiery heroine, though I did feel her character is a bit too mature for the age. The challenges she faces are grave and the obstacles many. The crown comes with a hefty price to pay. How Titania embraces all these challenges forms a very captivating plot and I am looking forward for more of her adventures in the coming books.

To Be a Fae Queen by Tricia Copeland is a very interesting take on the faerie stories, though I was not expecting the story to be about a Titania and Oberon that were not THE Titania and Oberon that end up ruling over the Seelie court together. The pacing at times felt a bit awkward, there would be an event that would happen but would not get talked about and I would have to go back to see if they had even finished the event or if it was going to be continued later. Other than that, I did really enjoy the story of Titania coming into her own power and faith of herself as she deals with anxiety and having lost most of her family, it can be seen in a very inspiring way. It was also very fun to see it bring in witches and vampires into the storyline to bring those genres together. I do always enjoy watching characters go from one type of life and must adjust into another type of life very suddenly. This is recommended if you enjoy anything faerie related.

Titania was never meant to be a Queen. The throne should have passed to her beloved brothers, but they were lost in battle with the terrifying Kobold, leaving her as last of the line.

At the age of 15, Titania suddenly finds herself having the crown thrust upon her. At first she is hesitant but resolves to accept her fate, only to have to fight to prove her worth. However, a greater fight is yet to come when the Kobold try, once more, to take over her country of Arden.

In Titania we have a truly likeable and feisty heroine who has to grow up fast when her people need her. She has to show herself capable and worthy of her title, against many odds.

A thrilling adventure full of excitement and danger, with some romance along the way. Some great characters surrounding Titania and her world who can also be found in the author’s series The Kingdom Journals.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and became engrossed in Tricia Copeland’s magical world of the Fae in Middle Earth.

To Be A Fae Queen by Tricia Copeland was a really exciting read. Fantasy is my absolute favorite genre and Tricia Copeland crafted an awesome fantasy novel! I didn’t want to put it down, and I didn’t want it to end. Thankfully this is the first in a series!

I love the world building in this book. I was whisked away to a magical land. The descriptions are just right. Enough to give me a clear picture without long, drawn out descriptions. That’s how a fantasy novel stays fast paced!

To Be A Fae Queen is action packed. Titania is a great leader, and she goes through so much to fight the evil.
To Be A Fae Queen is an excellent novel. I highly recommend giving this a read if you love fantasy!

What a world to get lost in! Titania has trained for this day for years. When her father won’t listen to her about how to take out the evil lurking in their realm, she takes things into her own hands to defeat them and seal the opening. With her father injured, he passes the crown on to Titania. When someone stands up to dispute her reign because he wants to see his son on the throne, will it be the end of Titania’s reign already? She shows strength and wisdom when she is confronted.
Her best friend Foster transfers when she becomes Queen. He is just a soldier and doesn’t want their relationship to interfere with her new position. Transfers?!?!
Can Titania live up to the expectations of being Queen? Her family has ruled for generations, will that be ripped away from her? Was so excited to learn there is a new book coming in January 2022.

To Be A Fae Queen (Realm Chronicles Book 1) By Tricia Copeland - Review by Jeannie Anderson

I completely LOVED To Be A Fae Queen from page one. Princess Titania is only fifteen but a worthy successor of the crown. She's very smart, compassionate and extremely skilled with archery. She literally cannot miss a shot no matter the distance. All of the characters are richly written, especially Titania. She faces many challenges and many hard decisions and faces each one with courage, grace and wisdom. Titania isn't perfect and has a beautiful hero's journey.

The world Titania lives in is beautiful but can be scary with the evil creatures plaguing their land. Amazing story by Tricia Copeland.  I cannot wait to read more about Titania.
