Maria Llovet is a graphic novel author and illustrator from Barcelona. Her work explores themes of desire, intensity, and aesthetics, blending emotional depth with striking visual storytelling.
This issue is more art than story, which isn't a complaint, really, but with what we're given, I wanted just a few pages more. Teresa's thoughts are disjointed and don't necessarily flow one to the other, and instead need the context of the panel. I'm more intrigued by the story now. Not so much of the cult, although we're given a glimpse beneath that happy go lucky facade, but of what Teresa's relationship will be to the Chained God.
This is very much a continuation of the first volume and gives us a little more background… but it’s not really doing it for me. I can’t even really describe what happened here.
The set I got from the library has volumes 1-5 but I’m not sure if I’ll finish it.
That was pretty interesting. I like how this one really explores the mystery a lot more and we get more an idea as to why some of the other girls are there. I iddin’t really the info dump toward the end of the issue besides that it was a pretty good comic. the art style is still pretty unique and give off the 60s/70s vibe that I really love.
3.5, but since I rounded the first down I’ll round this up. Llovet has the tendency to make trippy art and not explain the plot enough, which works for me only when I want to stare at the art and don’t care if I understand.
This is kinda the same review as the first one I still love the art. It had a little bit more information then the first one but the story was still slow. It is a comic book though so I’m not surprised or mad about that.
The art continues to dazzle, and the plot thickens. This volume mostly raised more questions than it answered! I'm definitely hooked, though. I've never read anything like this.
