By his mid-twenties… Chase had built a dream life.
Why was he mentally beaten down?
As a superstar trader at his elite Dallas wealth management firm, Chase decided he was ready to cash out, so he sold his client base. There was just one catch. To close the deal, he had to agree to a three-year contract overseeing the transition.
That’s when things went south.
After a year, he couldn’t stand it.
But he was trapped.
Chase needed to escape The Firm. There was just one problem, they would want most of the money they paid him back. With his mental state in tatters, he makes the only move he can see.
With the money he had left…
…he fled to a tropical island.
That’s where he met Kane, a mysterious island native.
You’ll adore this psychological thriller, because Nate Wilson takes you on an adventure with scuba diving, lost ships, and an ending you won’t see coming.
Nate Wilson writes adventure travel stories filled with scuba diving, sailing, and Caribbean ocean escapades. His Chasing Kane adventure series—Chasing Kane and Chasing Avi are out now, with Chasing Morgan currently in the works—draws from his personal explorations and experiences both above and below the sea. His writing style blends first-person perspective with stream-of-consciousness storytelling, pulling the reader into each journey as if they’re experiencing the escape firsthand. Influenced by lyrical artists like Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, and Jimmy Buffett, as well as literary greats like Ernest Hemingway and Norman Maclean, Nate’s work carries a rhythm of reflection, adventure, and soul. When his best friend passed away at age thirty, he realized that the most important things in life are creating memories with family, making true friendships, and simply enjoying life. Though he lives in the northern Colorado mountains—too far from the sea—he makes it a point to go diving twice a year. May you make your own adventures.

Kane is mysterious in the best way, and every scene between him and Chase feels charged with something just beneath the surface. By the end, I was breathless. The twist caught me completely off guard, and I found myself flipping back through pages to re-experience the buildup with fresh eyes. If you enjoy psychological thrillers that blend exotic settings with emotional depth and suspense, this one’s a must-read.

This book caught me totally off guard in the best way. What starts as a financial burnout story quickly spirals into a psychological thrill ride full of mystery, island secrets, and emotional unraveling. Chase is the kind of character you can’t look away from: brilliant but broken, rich but lost, and completely unaware of just how deep he’s about to go both literally and metaphorically. Nate Wilson does a great job balancing the high-stakes mental pressure of corporate life with the eerie, almost surreal calm of island living. But don’t be fooled by the palm trees and ocean breeze. Something darker is brewing beneath the surface. Kane is the perfect wild card: enigmatic, wise, and just a little unsettling. Every interaction with him raises more questions than answers.
Gripping, fast-paced, and full of surprises! Nate Wilson delivers a compelling psychological thriller that dives deep—literally and emotionally. Chase’s descent from high-flying success to desperate escape is both thrilling and haunting. With mysterious island vibes, sharp twists, and a finale you won’t see coming, this is a must-read for fans of suspense with a tropical edge.
