He is in desperate need of a wife. She is accepting someone else. Will one summer be enough to change her mind?
James Hammond is in a bind. To fulfill the dictates of his late cousin’s will, he must provide a London season for his new ward, Belinda. An easy thing to do with his fashionable, London-loving wife, if only she hadn’t died right before his cousin. Now, with his new ward to care for, a rascal of a son to keep in check, and a mountain of debt left by his wife, James must find a bride, and fast. But after his third rejection in as many months, James is beginning to lose hope.
Letty Langham does not fall in love. She experienced the emotion once before and it went about as badly as a case of unrequited love can go. Now she has vowed never to give those emotions any rein again. But not wanting to be alone forever, she sees the wisdom in accepting the proposal of the impeccable Lord Bransbury come autumn, after she spends the summer with her cousins near Bath. But after an act of charity goes horribly askew, Letty finds herself in the frequent company of Mr. James Hammond, whose handsome face and easygoing manners are making her rethink keeping her feelings bound.
Amanda writes clean regency and contemporary romance. She was raised along the Wasatch Front on a hearty diet of Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen novels. She firmly believes that the Three Rs: Reading, Riding and wRiting are a great recipe for happiness. Other ingredients include her family of three boys, a fantastic husband, and their pets, Ginny and Darcy, and Flint.
A lovely story that will suit those who enjoy wonderful well-rounded characters, a delightful child, and character driven stories. There is no angst or gothic elements, and it is drawing room, not bedroom, to quote Mary Lancaster.
5 STARS, GEORGIAN/REGRNCY ERA HISTORICAL ROMANCE DRAMA
An interesting drama that concerns a Debutante that had fell in love with a married Baron during her first year out. Now, said Baron, loved his wife & didn't know about her love, he had been a knight in helping her mother & herself one evening. He was quite the Hero. Unfortunately, her stern Mother a Ton stickler worried about social gossip took her to your Europe for a year to try to get distance from it.
Book 1, about her oldest brother & wife does have this told in that book & she has been over it for two years now.
Letty is visiting her Uncle trying for distance between her & a man who has popped up to ask for her hand again a second time, an Earl.
James, a landowner gentleman but without a title needs a wife to fulfill his promise to his dead brother, concerning his daughter. For his own son, too.
The geese will make you smile, probably. Letty is a great character & would make a great friend, the young girls are terrific, add Charles & Howard, the aunt uncle, servants of James, well everyone connected to her aunt & uncle.
Will Letty ever love any man that can socially love her back & marry her? What about James, is his problem solved? Easy to breeze through, with some laughs & smiles, & with some awe on your face, too.
Infatuation/unrequited love/mutual love How is one to know how to react.
4.5 stars Amanda Panhorst is a newer favorite author of mine .
Letty was sorely misunderstood in previous books. I love that her sweet caring spirit is brought out to light. I don't even mind it being by a widower. ;) She does an amazing job of growing and developing the two main characters, while the minor ones help make them shine. A sweet clean romance, with just enough realism thrown in to make the reader believe this book deserves it H.E.A. (happily ever after). Luckily the self absorbed characters give the realism without making the romance suffer and have to be scripted into a marriage purely for necessity.
Cute story. I liked the characters and how real they are- they interact well and are smart and recognize life around them. This one just didn’t do the reach out and grab me. I was a little off put with the guy- he seemed to be off about the women he was proposing to- they all seemed like horrible ladies, but he was willing to propose to them and live with that, but he kept having thoughts about maybe not proposing to Letty, because of certain aspects- I don’t know, that was kind of weird through the book. But overall it was a nice read-
Great story, great storyline & most importantly Absolutely Great Storytelling. This reader was so happy Ms Panhorst allowed us to enjoy seeing Letty FALL in Love in a way that we fell in love with her. Her description of the waddling, honking, flapping geese was "right on" & anyone who has ever had to deal with them knows it! I couldn't have put the book down, for the life of me, after reading that.
I've enjoyed all the books by this author and Letty's Last Love is no exception. The geese scene was just so good. Geese really are terrible and I had such a good laugh. I Loved reading Letty's story, seeing her conquer her difficulties. Well written. I definitely recommend.
Letty is adorable, and James is hilarious. Who knew how funny it would be to read about a man desperate for a wife (any wife) and a woman desperate not to fall in love (with any man). The writing is not as polished as I prefer, but the story has so many creative and interesting situations that I gave it four stars.
Sweet, slow burn romance with great getting to know you. The description didn’t really match the book. I enjoyed the heroines relationship with the hero’s son. And their kind regard for each other. Respectful and kind. One small misunderstanding at the end but nothing torturous.
A Charming Story of Geese, Boy, Misunderstanding & Finding out what you Love
I have really begun to love the author's stories. The Letty creature cannot rein in her emotions....I can relate! When it comes to separating infatuation from mutual love her emotions get to grow, stretch, and find an appreciation at last.
If you have read "The Wife Of Walraven" you will remember Letty's sorrows. In this book she still must deal with her interfering mother while becoming acquainted with a widower, and his son who need her, the boy's geese who hate her, and a rich Baron who wants her.
Letty’s story was light hearted and sweet, perfect for a late night read. Witty, with the right amount of humor and swoon, Letty’s last love let’s you get away from the upturned world around you for a bit.
I enjoyed Letty's Last Love very much am looking forward to more of Amanda Pan host's books! I really appreciate being able to read a book without anticipating a steamy sex scene, and yet understanding without a doubt that s couple is in love!
I loved this book but best of all the part about the geese made me laugh out loud. Would give it 6 stars if there was an option. The characters were just perfect!
I really enjoyed this story and the previous book in the series. The characters are likable and there’s enough drama to make things interesting but not overwhelming. The kind of story that makes you smile and hope for more in the series.
Great regency romance. It's storyline was simple but perfect. The characters were really well developed and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book (I also read the first book in the series and it was great too!)
Great story, loved the characters, inner struggle heroine faced captured the self doubt we all have encountered. Not over the top but a realistic plot. Very clean, a strong storyline doesn’t need erotica.
Very enjoyable story of the different kinds of love
She was young and impressionable. She made a mistake and paid dearly for it. She is confused with no one to help her. But providence's time is perfect. Highly recommended for all readers.
Lefty finds her happy ever after withJames, a gentleman who also has inner heartbreaks and hurts to overcome. After they both come to terms with it all they marry
Good plot with interesting characters. I love a character that defies the norm in British society. Many are unsuccessful in first attempts at love. Very pleasant read,
Great story. Lettie had been on a trip with her Mother to try and get over a love crush of a married man. Lettie transitioned from a saw lady to her old self in this story. You will enjoy the journey.
This is a fine regency. It can be a stand alone but the first book in the series adds some depth to Letty’s character. I was surprised that Letty’s mom isn’t in this one very much. Kisses only.
