বইটা ফা-টা-ফাটি। ছোট্ট পরিসরে বলা চমৎকার সব গল্প এবং ভয়ঙ্কর সুন্দর সব ছবি। যেন মনে হয় renaissance যুগের কোন শিল্পীর আঁকা ছবি। আলো-ছায়া, ভাঁজের ব্যাপারগুলো কি স্পষ্ট। ১০১ টা গল্প, ১০১ টা ছবি। কি যত্নে আঁকা সবকটা ছবি। গল্পের সাথে পুরোপুরি সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ ছবি। (একটা বাদে, বাচ্চাদের বইয়ের একজন নগ্ন মানুষের ছবি গ্লোরিয়া ওস্তেমা ঢুকাতে চাননি হয়তো) কিছু ছবি সেঁটে দিলাম।
প্রতিটা গল্পের পরে আছে একটি করে verse। অধিকাংশ গল্পের সাথে সম্পর্কিত হলেও কিছু কিছু অন্য জায়গা থেকে আনা হয়েছে। এগুলো রাখা হয়েছে বাবা-মায়েদের জন্য। আর বাচ্চাদের জন্য রয়েছে কয়েকটি প্রশ্ন। এই যেমন, প্রথম পাপ, এই গল্পটার শেষে করা প্রশ্ন-
বইটা পড়ার পর অনুভূতি হচ্ছে, কেন এটা এত তাড়াতাড়ি শেষ হয়ে গেল? আমি আরো চাইইই <ম্যা ম্যা> নতুন কিছু জেনে ভালো লেগেছে তেমনি আগের জানা অনেক কিছু এটায় নেই বলে খারাপ লাগছে। সলোমনকে নিয়ে মাত্র দুইটা গল্প আছে। এটা মানা যায়? -_-
যীশু এই পৃথিবীর বিখ্যাতজনদের একজন। তাঁকে নিয়ে প্রচুর থিউরি প্রচলিত। বিশেষ করে তাঁর জীবনের শেষ দিনগুলোকে নিয়ে। আমার পড়া (জানা) সর্বশেষ দুইটা থিউরি বেশ ইন্ট্রেসটিং। এই ব্যাপারগুলো পড়তে বেশ ভালো লাগে। এটা পড়ে দেখ। ভালো লাগবে।
আর তিনটি বিষয় আছে, বিশ্বাস, আশা এবং ভালোবাসা। এগুলোর মধ্যে ভালোবাসাই শ্রেষ্ঠ। পাথরঘাটায় থাকি বলে এটা প্রায়ই চোখে পড়ে। ভালো লাগে :)
পুনশ্চ ১ঃ বইটার জন্য আমি বেগম খালেদা জিয়ার প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞ। উনি যদি হরতাল না দিতেন ........ ডট ডট ডট .......... তবে আমার rail station এ আসা হত না, আর যদি না আসতাম তবে এই বইও চোখে পড়তো না। আর তাহলে বুঝতেই পারছো, আমিও এই বই পড়তে পারতাম না।
পুনশ্চ ২ঃ বইটার প্রতি দুই পৃষ্ঠা মোটামুটি লাগানো ছিল। এগুলো আলাদা করতে মোটামুটি আধা ঘন্টা সময় লেগেছিল। নতুন কড়কড়ে নোট ওয়ালেটে রাখলে যেমন ভাঁজ পরে যায়, পৃষ্ঠাগুলোর অবস্থাও অনেকটা তেমন। যদি তেমন বোঝা যাচ্ছে না কিন্তু আমার চশমা পড়া সুক্ষ্ম চোখ(:v), চোখে লাগছে।
পুনশ্চ ৩ঃ দোকানের মালিক খুব হতাশ। বললেন, সারাদিন হাজার খানেক লোক যাওয়া আসা করে, কিন্তু বই বিক্রি তেমন হয় না। উনি আমাকে ওইদিনের বিক্রির পরিমাণ বললেন, খুবই হতাশাজনক। বললেন, বইয়ের দামের কথা, হার্ডকপি বনাম সফটকপির কথা, জাতিগতভাবে আমাদের বই পড়ার পরিমাণ কমে যাওয়ার কথা। এই ব্যাপারটাতেই আমার একটু সমস্যা। বইয়ের দাম খুব বাড়ছে, কিন্তু তার কারণেই যে পড়ুয়ার সংখ্যা কমছে তা আমি মনে করি না। আর এমনিতে পড়ুয়ার সংখ্যা আসলেই কি কমছে? আমি একটু কনফিউজড :/
ঈশ্বর সৃষ্টি করলেন আশ্চর্য সুন্দর এক পৃথিবী।
বিশালাকার জাহাজ দেখে বুঝতে পারার কথা এটা কিসের ছবি। অন্য কোন ছবি না দিলেও এটা আমি দিতামই। যে কটা প্রাণি আছে সবগুলোর দিকে খেয়াল করেছ?
যাকোব স্বর্গদূতদের এবং ঈশ্বরকে স্বপ্নে দেখছেন। যাকোব অব্রাহামের নাতি।
বিশ্বাস করেই ইস্রায়েলেরা শুকনা মাটির উপর দিয়ে হেঁটে যাবার মত করে লোহিত সাগর পার হয়েছিল কিন্তু মিসরীয়রা তা করতে গিয়ে ডুবে মরল। (ইব্রীয় ১১ঃ২৯)
খুব ছোটবেলা থেকেই এটার সাথে পরিচিত, মানে এই সিম্বলের সাথে। মানে বুঝতাম না তখন। সম্ভবত ড্যান ব্রাউনের বই পড়েই জেনেছিলাম। লাঠিতে জড়ানো পিতলের সাপ হাতে মোশি।
রাজ্য জয় করতে হবে, তারজন্য দরকার দক্ষ সৈন্য। যারা আরাম-আয়েশে, সময় নিয়ে পানি পান করছে তারা কি সৈন্য হওয়ার উপযুক্ত?
পিচ্চি দায়ূদ বিশালাকার এবং শক্তিশালী গলিয়াৎকে প্রভুর নামে মেরে ফেললেন এবং জয়ী করলেন ইস্রায়েলদের।
আগুনের ঘোড়া, আগুনের রথে করে স্বর্গে চলে যাচ্ছেন এলিয়। (শলোমনের পরের প্রফেট এলিয়)
গান গেয়ে কি একদল সৈন্যকে যুদ্ধে পরাজয় করা যায়?
যিশাইয় দেখেছিলেন প্রভুকে : তিনি রাজকীয় পোশাকে বসে আছে সিংহাসনে। তাঁর উপরে ছিল স্বর্গীয় প্রাণীরা, যাদের ছয়টি করে ডানা ছিল।
কুমারী মেরির গর্ভে গোয়ালঘরে জন্ম নিলেন যীশু। শুরু হল new testament
অলৌকিকতা : জলকে করলেন আঙুরের রস। উদ্ধার করলেন কনে পক্ষকে।
শান্ত হও, স্থির হও বলতেই থেমে গেল প্রচন্ড ঝড়।
গাধার পিঠে করে যিরুশালেমে আসলেন যীশু। মৃত্যুকে বরণ করে নিতেই কি?
শিষ্যরা স্তব্দ হয়ে চেয়ে আছে আকাশের দিকে। স্বর্গে গমন করছেন যীশু।
বইয়ের শেষ ছবি। যোহন (বারো হন শিষ্যের একজন) দেখছেন যে নতুন যিরুশালেম স্বর্গ থেকে নেমে আসছে।
প্রতিটা গল্পের পরে আছে একটি করে verse। অধিকাংশ গল্পের সাথে সম্পর্কিত হলেও কিছু কিছু অন্য জায়গা থেকে আনা হয়েছে। এগুলো রাখা হয়েছে বাবা-মায়েদের জন্য। আর বাচ্চাদের জন্য রয়েছে কয়েকটি প্রশ্ন। এই যেমন, প্রথম পাপ, এই গল্পটার শেষে করা প্রশ্ন-
১। কে হবাকে প্রলোভনে ফেলেছিল?
২। আদম এবং হবা কেন ঈশ্বরের কাছ থেকে পালিয়ে গিয়েছিল?
৩। কে আদম এবং হবাকে বাগান থেকে বের করে দিলেন?

Best book ever! The stories are like long summaries. My little brothers like to listen to the stories and look at the pictures. In the Bible, it's sometimes a bit harder to understand because of the wording, Ura did a good job translating them to easier-to-understand words. The place where it says where the information is from is perfect for when I want to quickly look up a story in the Bible but don't know exactly where to find them in the Bible. I like the stories myself a lot too. Thanks, Ura.

This is a part of the Sonlight curriculum for 4 year old preschool and I thought it was way too old for that. It's a somewhat dry Bible story every day that required a LOT of explanation from me. My daughter liked it, but I'd say this is written for upper middle grade.

I really like the format of this book. The information is simple enough for children and does not water down the OT/NT messages. The Bible verses and discussion questions are perfect...not too overwhelming but just right for facilitation. The illustrations are colorful and varied. Excellent resource!

Nice short versions that are great for bedtime readings with some discussion questions included. I feel like this version does a very good job of not watering down the essence of the 'tougher' topics. Still a good children's bible.

101 Favorite Stories from the Bible by Ura Miller has been a wonderful book to have in our homeschool. I love that it brings familiar Bible stories together in a way that is easy for children to understand and enjoy. It makes a great addition to our Bible reading, morning basket, or family devotional time.
As a homeschool mom, I especially appreciate that this book gives us opportunities to slow down and talk about what we are reading. The stories provide a natural way to discuss faith, obedience, courage, trust, and God’s faithfulness. Even when we already know a particular story, reading it together can lead to meaningful conversations and reminders of biblical truths.
I also appreciate having a book that children can read on their own as they become more independent readers. It is a simple, enjoyable resource that helps keep God’s Word and biblical history a regular part of our homeschool day. This is definitely a book I am glad to have on our shelf.

বাইবেলের আলোকে ১০১ টা ছোট গল্প। সাথে ১০১ টা চমৎকার সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ ছবি।
ভালোই লেগেছে পড়তে। ছোটবেলায় নবী ও রাসূলগনের যেসব গল্প পড়ে এবং শুনে এসেছি তার খ্রীষ্টধর্মীয় ভার্সন।
বেশি আলোচনায় যাবো না। শুধু এতটুকুই বলবো সব ধর্মই বলে, "সৃষ্টির সেবা করো, সৃষ্টিকে ভালোবাসো। সবাইকে সমান চোখে দেখো এবং শান্তিপূর্ণ সহাবস্থান করো।"
শান্তির জন্যেই ধর্ম! তারপরেও ধর্ম আর জাত নিয়ে এত ভেদাভেদ কেন কে জানে!

One of the best of the children's Bibles I've read to my kids. Each story has a few questions at the end. My son (5) has enjoyed listening as I read and then seeing if he can remember enough to answer the questions.

A beautifully illustrated book of Bible stories. The stories may have been a little long for the target age group, but overall we really enjoyed this book.
