Portuguese is my first language, so I love the idea behind this book.

Where Is My Little Elephant?, by Ingo Blum, is a quick children’s read about the search for Daisy, the elephant lady, while also teaching Portuguese by translating the different English sentences.

While being nice for an early reader with a short attention span, I think the story could have been told in a more original or engaging way. If it had more pages with a more developed story or was designed differently, perhaps it could be pleasant for both babies, who can hear their parents read to them in two different languages, and kids with more reading autonomy.

I received an eARC for free, and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

Birthday Fun for the Little Elephant

This author has several “Where is My Little _____” books featuring different animals like crocodiles, elephants, and dogs. The illustrator has done a fantastic job in all that I've seen so far, making absolutely adorable animals. Daisy, the ‘lady’ elephant featured in this book, is so cute! (Especially when depicted doing things she probably shouldn’t.) Like the other books in the series, the author first looks at places Daisy is not before revealing where she is. Today is Daisy's birthday, so she is not at normal elephant haunts like the circus or the zoo. The end of the book shows her to be in a rather unlikely place, enjoying her birthday with her friends. The book has a few coloring pages in the back, choosing some of the most darling pictures from within the story for the young reader to color. If you have a child who is learning Chinese or is growing up in a bilingual Chinese-English-speaking family, she or he may find this book endearing and delightful.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Daisy (little elephant) is not at the china shop. Or is she at the circus.
Today is her birthday.
There she is.
Aboard a ship with her friends: lion, & Rhino.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written children’s elephant book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s elephant movie, an animated cartoon or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

🎶 Oh Where Oh Where Has My Daisy Gone, Oh, Where Oh where Can She Be 🎶

This is a nice story for an early reader. The words are bold and spaced to make them easy to read and see. The words are not big, just perfect for that beginning reader. The pictures are colorful and the bright colors keep your little reader wanting to turn each and every page.
**Fun stuff!!! Daisy has been lost. Oh, no! She is not at the circus or at ----???. You will have to read to fill in this blank. What fun you will have discovering where she will turn up. Yeah!!

Disappointed
My rate is rather average because of the illustrations which didn't do it for me and with the thread of the story that seems to go in all the directions. In general, the small children like the repetitive structures that they can repeat alone after. The good thing is that because it goes in all directions (or places), the language can be developed for the objects in the illustrations, or the characters.

Where is My Little Elephant
Colorful children's story where Daisy is her missing elephant.
Find and seek book. The pictures show every place they have looked for her.
Silly book of finding Daisy in each of the places listed.
Free ebook offer, coloring pages are also included.

Very simple text as a child reader looks through different scenes to find Daisy the elephant. There's not really much story, but the bright illustrations include lots of animals and other items that can be used to build a child's vocabulary; they are just rarely included in the text.

"Where Is My Little Elephant" by Ingo Blum is a quick children's read. The story tells a quick tale of Daisy, the Elephant and the search of where she can be.

A great book for bed or for young children who do not have a large attention span. The story is in both English & French, making it fun to learn a new language while reading.

Nice to Help Kids Learn French

This is a cute bilingual English- French picture book where the reader is trying to find where the little elephant is. We see several places where the elephant is not (like ice skating or at the zoo), but at the end of the book, she is indeed found, hanging out with her two animal friends on a ship. This book is perfect if your child is learning French as a second language. The sentence structures are simple but do show some nuances inherent to French that are different from English. The book could also be very easily interactive; an adult reader could ask the child if she or he can spot the elephant in each scene. The illustrations are simple but engaging. The book also includes three coloring pages at the end. Recommended if a child is learning French or is being raised bilingual to speak both English and French.
