After an app she develops crashes and burns, Olive Peale tries her hand at the family business. Running a wedding venue can’t be as hard as writing code... right?

As if juggling bridezillas and cheating grooms wasn’t stressful enough, a rival venue swoops into town with fireworks, helicopter rentals, and a charming owner.

Wesley Belmont wants to be Olive’s friend.

And maybe something more.

But what would an arrogant playboy like him want with a nerd like her?

Unless he’s determined to put her out of business...

With her family business in trouble, Olive turns to her trusted gamer friend Culler for help.

Wesley and Culler are as different as night and day.

Culler would be the perfect ally against Wesley.

Culler is the perfect man, actually.

Except for one problem…

Olive doesn’t know his name.

Has never seen his face.

Never met him in real life.

Until Culler suggests they meet.

And Olive discovers she’s in for the surprise of her life.

Pixely Ever After is an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy that will leave you with a big goofy grin on your face. Closed door romance with plenty of suggestive spice, no explicit content. Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella and You’ve Got Mail.

I always love Yea’s writing! It’s addicting and just all around pulls me in! This was cute, funny, swoony and so much more! I had a lot of laugh out loud moments and I’m ready to see what the next book will bring!

I think I might not have ever read a rom-com novel before and it took me a loooong time to adjust. I suffer from crippling amounts of secondhand embarrassment so the early parts of the book, with one meet-cute after another were painful for me. One of my earliest memories is cringing through Disney's animated Cinderella film and not understanding why I wanted to cry/smash the television/run out of the room, if that gives you an idea.

BUT the maniacal pleasure of watching Game of Thrones: The Rains of Castamere with someone who doesn't know what's coming is Universal. I have had that joy not once, but twice, and it was that moment in the book (quite late, unfortunately) that everything clicked for me.

It might have taken me a while, but once I'd wrapped my head around the artisanal ice cream, seahorse dresses and unabashed collection of Funko Pop figures, I grew to like Olive. And Wesley. Oh Wesley.

So, a rocky start for me, but if book two is Elyse and Aiden, I am there!

Pixely Ever After is a farcical story about several quirky characters getting into quirky situations which is both a strength and weakness. It is funny and kept my attention because I had to know what on earth these people would do next. But the constant quirkiness may distract from the emotional side of the story. Neither the heroine's fears, insecurities and grief or the feelings of romance or love are written so the reader would feel it with her.

Olive's app coding business went bankrupt and she got back into her father's wedding business. She finds it difficult to deal with people and she is not really a customer service person (in one scene she says she's got mild Asperger's). Her friends have their own quirky sides and it seems like they are set up for their own books later.

Wesley Belmont is a vet school drop out and a former professional poker player who now owns another wedding business in town. I was ready to hate Wesley because the first scene we see him, he drives drunk and nobody bats an eye. But he expressed his own remorse later and apparently it's not a habit. Wesley and Olive become rivals and then friends, marathoning Game of Thrones and he comes to her aid when there is a death in her family. But Olive is in love with Culler, her gaming companion and online friend that she's never seen in person.

To sum up, I liked the humor but the romantic denouement was a little abrupt.
Steam level: not very graphic. We do get to witness some infidelity by a minor character. (The author's newsletter offers a spin-up story Hurricane Coralee that is open-ended but suggests that the character who got cheated on may be better off because of it. )

I received an ARC copy and this is a voluntary, honest review.

Pixely Ever After is the first book in a new series and the first book I have read by Teresa Yea.
I enjoyed this story but the writing is a bit odd and definitely a slow burn romance.
These characters are so unique and a little odd. This whole story is about weddings and everyone of Olives friends are in some way involved with the wedding business. Olives dad is in the venue business; one friend is a photographer; another is in the baking business and the other is in a band. Wesley was an interesting character also. He was super drunk when you first met him and then he is super confident one minute and the next he was awkward. I liked the chemistry he had with Olive but they definitely did not get along in the beginning. She really didn’t like him in the beginning and wanted nothing to do with him. He couldn’t leave her alone and seemed to be around when she needed him. Unfortunately this story turns into a tearjerker but Wesley had her back and was there for her. The gaming aspect was interesting and pretty cool at times.
As I said this is definitely a slow burn romance with only one bedroom scene that didn’t last very long. I was hoping for a little more from them at the end considering how the next book starts out.

This is the story of Wesley and Olive. They have a double life. They are best friend, brain soulmates in the Aventine (game) world. But in the real world they are enemies. This story is really funny because involve a gay dad (Olive's), three crazy friends (Viola, Lucie and Elyse), a bridezilla (Coralee), a cheater (Mason), the perfect guy (Aiden) and the main characters: Wesley and Olive. She is a brilliant programmer that created an app that crashed and demolished all her dreams and hopes leading her to run the family venue for weddings. The only problems is that Olive is not interested and does not have the desire to do it. On the other hand, Wesley came to Indigo Bay to fulfill his late mother's dream to have a venue for weddings. He has the money, the ability to run the business but needs the person that he loves. Olive and Wesley have something in common, they fall in love with another player in Aventine. I loved the characters and the plot, really funny. I love all the friends, they are so funny. Highly recommend this book. Cant wait to read the next one!

Okay, this was a cute rom-com... after I got over the annoying-ness of the main character.

Wesley was correct on his first assumption of her.. age 22, but acts like age 6. She has this super annoying habit of saying "whaa" reminiscent of Lucy Ball. It really got on my nerves, and I contemplated ending the book then and there...
But I enjoyed some of her other quirky antics.

About half way through the book, you find out that Olive in on the spectrum. Which makes me wonder if the author is trying to make you feel bad because now you find this young woman with autism so annoying.
At about the same time, Olive finds out that her father is gay. Like she had blinders on her whole life.

I feel like a lot of the conversations were skipped over, and I came in at the end or missed things that were said.

Wesley was a favorite, even though he had his flaws.

The emotion that I felt when Culler was a no-so and Oliver father passed away were strong.

I definitely saw the ending coming rather quickly, though.

Still a cute book, and if you can make it passed the Whaa fest, you won't regret it.

This was a fun book. I liked the storyline and the characters. All of the characters in the story were extremely different and I wondered how it was all going to come together but I ended up enjoying their interactions and how they played off of one another. I loved seeing one of the minor characters come out of her shell a bit from where she began.

Okay, but I do have some things about this book that I didn't like. Olive came across as quite immature. But then I started to wonder if she was on the spectrum. Some of her dialogue was a little strange to me. (What was up with the whole "Waaaaa" thing? Was she supposed to be crying? Whining?)
And part of me thinks that the big reveal at the end came a little too easily and the resolution was a bit too smooth.

But overall I liked the book. None of the characters were "normal" by societal standards and all of them seemed to have some sort of issue which made them more relatable. It was a good book.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This book has a cast of characters that will make you smile and laugh. Olive is trying to help out the family business but now has another that she is in competition with. Wesley is the face of that competition which in her book makes her not trust him. She does however trust Culler even though she does not have a face to put with him. Imagine her surprise when the enemy becomes the confidant, and the best of friends now is off limits. There were times in this book that I would shake my head and think...bless her heart. But Olive is a strong and amazing woman with a lot of determination. She is so amazing that she ends up with both Wesley and Culler, imagine that! I really enjoyed their love story. I thought the storyline and all of the characters was great also.

Wonderful quirky geeky romance. I truly enjoyed this story about programming geeks who fall in love without knowing it and a young woman trying to save her family's business when she is a very horrible fit for the job. Olive is a coder who is trying to work in her family wedding planning business to help out when she struggles to put up with the snooty bridezilla and struggles to dress or act accordingly. The characters from cheating fiancé, bridezilla, Olive, her father, and others are a treat. They all fit the story well and keep it moving. I enjoyed the details of conversations, events, and was thrilled with the ending. Nicely done.

This book could have been better. The storyline and development of love between the MCs wasn't strong, plus somewhere a bit into the start, we don't see the MMC in-person for quite a while.

I have read similar books of hidden-identity and online meet-cute, and hence I knew the direction where things would be heading plus the description of the book was kind of a give-away, but I felt it was a let-down to books in a similar trope because of the way the story unravelled and the lack of emotional connect. Two things could have been done to make the story better - one is have a dual POV (I really wanted to understand and get to know the MMC) and two is a better flow or structure to the story flow as it would have helped unravel the mysteries and convey the emotions and the story better.

•Two Worlds Colliding•

Pixely Ever After had such a different feel from other romance books as it takes on a bit of the world of online gaming. I really loved the way it had a bit of two worlds colliding into one feel to it.

Olive is unlike any heroine I’ve read and I absolutely adored her. The banter between her and Wes was done so perfectly I felt it showed the level of compatibility they had even early on.

The surrounding characters were fantastically unique and especially entertaining to read. Her friends, in particular, are so varied in personality that I am really excited to see how their stories work out.

Great read with a quirky twist.

I think I just stumbled upon a new favorite author. The first meeting I had with Pixely ever after finished in love and with 5 starts.
I loved everything from the cover to the action and characters. The action was well written and I liked the subject a lot. I mean wedding planning wars and nerds in love, that's just something else.
I liked that Olive and Wesley are both nerds with a love for every fandom related thing and that they start as enemies in real life and they finish as nerds in love.
I couldn't put the book down and I think I read it it a few hours.

I found this to be a very cute and quirky romantic comedy. The enemy-to-lovers genre is one I normally avoid but this one was interesting. All of the characters were wonderfully written and the story was cute. I received a complimentary copy from StoryOrigin and this is my honest opinion.

I loved this book so much. I don't know what I was expecting but this went so much better than I thought. I loved Olive just a unique character and seeing Wesley liking from afar was so gratifying. She irritated me sometimes but I laughed so hard basically the whole book

Nerdy version of You’ve got mail

This book became one of my favorites. If you love You’ve got mail, you will love this nerdy/modern version. These characters don’t follow gender stereotypes and that made me so happy. I loved the female characters friendship.

What an enjoyable read

The interaction between the unique characters was fast paced throughout the book. This is a very different type of story than my usual choice but I found it totally captivating. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the series. .
