The Powers of a Goddess Carry a Perilous Cost When Andrea discovers an Evil Eye talisman at her Gram's house in Greece, she's gifted with the powers of Aphrodite, and learns the true story of her family's cursed past. She leaves to attend the boarding school of her dreams in California, using these powers to join the school's Secret Society—while trying not to crush on Aden, the brooding boy she's hopelessly drawn to. But her charmed new life is put on hold when Aphrodite summons Andrea to Mount Olympus to offer her a free her powerful family from their crumbling celestial prison and gain their protection—or risk death by the vengeful Gorgon that killed her mother. All she has to do is use Gram's talisman to find the other twelve descendants of Olympia. Easy—until it's stolen as part of the initiation into the Secret Society. As Aden helps her search for it, she discovers the part of the plan Aphrodite didn't mention—the gods will enslave mortals once Andrea frees them. Now she must trust her greatest weapon—her heart—to stand against the immortals willing to sacrifice her and the boy she loves.
I feel really honoured to be able to read this book since I was so attracted to the cover of this book, then I reached out to the author and asked if I could review this book. I was excited to give this one a read as I'm really into mythology stuff. This is a really phenominal and interesting fiction story which I would recommend to everyone out there. It's all about greek mythology and packs lores of gods and beasts, which are a really interesing for me. I won't give out too much about the story as it's better read by yourself and definitely is worth your time... The story revolves around the protagonist of the book, Andrea, who found an ancient eye amulet at her grandmother's place in Greece. Soon after she finds the artifact, she is gifted with some supernatural powers of Aphrodite (goddess of love and beauty). Then the unnerving curtains of truth of her family's cursed past falls before her eyes. The she leaves to California for her studies. She has a great time during her schooling as she accomplish a lot through the powers she's been gifted. There she falls for a guy named Aden. Before she could realise, she is challenged by the Aphrodite where she can free her family from the calestial prison. She then gets down in an adventurous mission of freeing her family by finding all the twelve successors of Olympia. The plot of this book is just amazing, the whole book is very well written and is easy to understand, which makes it even better. Because I've read some mythological books in the past and they rather had the writing style which was challenging to grasp. But this one was an exception, it really stood up to all my expectations. I loved the idea of presenting the mythological story with a bit of sci=fi touch. Everything about this book was so pleasing that I really couldn't hold myself and I read the whole book within 3 days. That's what I really appreciate about some books, that it keeps the reader stuck to it and never makes them lose the count of it.
I would highly recommend this book to everyone who's into fictional or mythological stories. Now, when I say mythological, people mostly think it's gonna be boring old stories. But trust me, give this one a try you won't be dissapointed as it packs not only mythological, but ficticious elements that makes it a lot more times happening.
The author reached out to me on Instagram and asked if I would review her book and I'm really glad she did! I love being introduced to new indie authors and getting to support their work. I enjoyed Eye of the Gods a lot and am looking forward to the sequel.
I love mythology! Actually recently one of my best friends referred to me as a "mythology geek" and I'm pretty sure I need that on a shirt now. This book is chock-full of Greek mythology, so if you're a self-proclaimed mythology geek like me, I would definitely give this one a try. There is tons of lore about heroes, mythological beasts, and the fickle nature of the gods. Some of the best myths, in my opinion, are mentioned in this book.
We meet Andrea on page 1 and it doesn't take long for the action and drama to kick in. From the get-go, you can tell that Andrea, as the descendant of Aphrodite, is going to be going through some stuff, haha. As the book continues, we are introduced to Becca, Hunter, and Aden (among others) and it's clear that they are going to be a big part of Andrea's story. I really liked the differences between all of these characters. You wouldn't necessarily expect them to be grouped together, but as the gods' plan starts to unfold their differences simultaneously become more noticeable and bind them together. I'm going to keep this spoiler-free because I want you to go out and support this great new indie author but suffice it to say that the gods are up to their old tricks and what Andrea and friends thought was the truth is exposed to be nothing but lies.
I only gave it 4 stars because I felt like it moved a little too quickly through some parts. While I would much rather have a book feel too fast than too slow, I would've liked a little more character development in the beginning and some more time taken with some of the more major plot points. That being said, it's a great fast read and at no point was a bored with the story!
👁️🗨️Trust me how the story goes on then i really enjoyed that and it seems like i am watching a movie and it became so interesting i would not tell you more as the twists are mind blowing so just go and grab your copy to read this interesting story.
👁️🗨️The story is really very gripping so the book being a real page turner. The way the author has presented everything is just perfect and i really loved it. Narration is so good and it’s easily understandable that makes it a flawless reading. So overall it’s an amazing read i would really highly recommend this book to everyone out there. It will not disappoint you for sure.
The story follows Andrea, our protagonist whose life is entagled in drama from the very first page. She finds an evil eye in her grandma's house in grease which activates the gift (or some might say curse) of aphrodite. Aphrodite is the Greek godess of adoration.
Confused and grieving after her grandma's death Andrea goes to boarding school where we are introduced to Becca, Max, Hunter and Aden. She makes another attempt at a normal (ish) life but that all comes crashing down when eventually all her family's past and realities comes to light.
Aphrodite summons Andrea to mount Olympus and offers her a deal. At this point all Andrea wants is a family, somewhere to belong. Aphrodite promises her that family and it's protection for which she would have to free the gods from the celestial prison or risk death by ancient monsters. She sets out to fulfill this task But her course is filled with uncountable obstacles and unraveling truths making her understand the dificulties of the situation. Now she has to follow her heart in order to stand against the imortals that are ready to sacrifice her.
The book is a real page turner with twists in every corner. It also has forbidden love, one of my favourite troupes!!! The writing is easy to read and it seems like you're watching a movie! The charecters are well written and the plot well presented. So I highly recommend this book to everyone out there. Get your copy right now because believe me you don't want to miss out on this one!
