Let's start this off with an invitation to get some FREE books. No, you didn't read that wrong, we are talking about multiple free books. I love giving away free books because once people delve into the fast-paced mystery thrills I write, they go on to buy lots more.

All I need from you is an email address to send them to. Here's the link you need - https://mailchi.mp/fd47a6eb4ae5/patri...

When I wrote my first novel, Paranormal Nonsense, I was a Captain in the British Army. I would love to pretend that I had one of those careers that has to be redacted and in general denied by the government and that I have had to change my name and continually move about because I am still on the watch list in several countries. In truth though, I started out as a mechanic. Not like Jason Statham, sneaking about as a contract killer, more like one of those greasy gits that charge you a fortune and keep your car for a week when all you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, I was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, I won my first award. However, calling it my first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, I am having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and will claim to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in my head as they clamor to get out.

Now retired from the military, I live in the south-east corner of England with a pair of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, I doubt I will ever leave, the beer is just too good.

When I want to occupy my brain with something other than the trials of daily living, I turn to Steve Higgs. I’ve read at least a dozen of his vast oeuvre. This one was hilariously ridiculous. I have a cat that could be Amber and I’m acquainted with a bulldog whom I picture as Buster. I’m happy to own several of the Felicity Philips books so I can easily queue up the next one the next time my mind needs a holiday.

The cat doesn't need pajamas but the dog wants a cape.

Another delightful series from author Higgs. Wedding planner Felicity needs all the help she can get before she stays in the slammer for murder. Some of the help is hilarious, but I'm not going to write a synopsis. It's funny and I suggest you read it. Cats ruleb dogs drool.

This enticing new series gets off to a flying start!

Felicity Philips is in the home of a client of hers. Felicity is a wedding planner, but that's not what is interesting about her. What's interesting is when she starts off by telling us that she can hear the thoughts, and understand the meows and barks of her Ragdoll cat called Amber; and her English Bulldog called Buster.
Evidently she has had this gift since childhood. Of course, as so often is the case, Amber and Buster hate each other with a serious passion. Felicity states that it seems that she cannot hear the thoughts or understand the sounds coming from other animals, it's limited to Amber, Buster and other pets she has had throughout her life, which, let's face it, is uniquely weird enough and makes for a great story. But that is not what this book is about. Not at all.

Felicity is at the home of a friend, Derek Bleakwith, with the purpose of helping his daughter Tamara and his wife Joanna organise the early stages of a quickly put together wedding. Derek is seriously ill and Tamara wants him at her wedding naturally, so on short notice Felicity agreed to help.

As the ladies are discussing the plans, and making arrangements, they hear angry raised voices coming from the floor above them. It seems that Derek and his business partner, John Ramsey, are having a heated disagreement. Joanna goes up to find out what the fuss is about and Felicity leaves...hoping to do the wedding planning on another date.

John storms out of the house, past Felicity and goes off in his car and leaves things on bad terms. But before Felicity can get on with driving home, John comes back to confront Derek, and thats when all hell breaks loose.

From that time on Felicity is caught up in an ever tightening web of lies and murder. And with one thing happening straight after another, Felicity finds herself in some complicated situations. Nothing is making much sense but Buster and Amber do their best to help Felicity in really comical ways to get in to and out of trouble.

This was a really fun and entertaining story. I loved the dynamic between Felicity, Amber and Buster. That was great fun to read, especially the parts where Amber and Buster threw insults at each other. The rest of the book just kept me riveted to its pages. There was so much sculduggery going on in it that there were dirty dishes in my sink, and housework was left undone, but regardless, I kept on reading.
I genuinely read this book in one sitting, even reading through a couple of meals and had three cups of coffee go cold because I was having too much fun to put the book down!

I genuinely could NOT put this book down!

I enjoyed the authors other series featuring Patricia Fisher, so thought I would give this book ago. Glad I did because although slightly different I enjoyed it. It is only different because although still a very good mystery, it is whimsical in the fact that the main character Felicity can talk and understand her pets. I would have liked to have known why or how she can but in the end it didn't matter and didn't effect the enjoyment. The mystery was interesting, I had guessed who the killer was but that was more because everybody else had already been accused. I liked the characters, especially the niece and her ninja skills and the talking pets certainly added humour and funny situations for the main character to find herself in. I look forward to the next book.
Felicity is over seeing a rushed wedding for a friends daughter. The brides father is gravely ill and she wants him to walk her down the aisle before he dies. But the Wedding planning comes to a crashing halt when someone pushes the father off the balcony and the man last seen arguing with him dies in a car crash. The police suspect Felicity as the last silent business partner of the company of trying to kill off her partners. The only way to stay out of jail is to turn amateur sleuth and work out what is going on. Aided by her secret weapons, a ragdoll cat with an attitude problem, a bulldog with a hero complex and her niece who is a secret ninja in training they might just have to break a few rules to get to the bottom of this case and make sure the Wedding stays on track.
I liked the narrator. She sounded very English, which took a bit of getting use to because most narrator's are American but she was very good.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review

Having been introduced to Felicity Philips, wedding planner, in a Patricia Fisher Mystery, I didn't think I would enjoy this series but have to admit that it is off to a good start.

Felicity is planning the wedding of the daughter of Derek, an old friend. When Derek falls off a balcony, Felicity sees his business partner run from the house and assumes he pushed her friend. Buster, Felicity's bulldog, corners the guy until the police arrive.

Felicity can talk to not only her dog, but also to her cat. blue-eyed ragdoll Amber. While Buster thinks of himself as an action hero dog (Devil Dog) Amber thinks that it is enough for a cat to light up her human's existence simply by being there. She can, however, be bribed to help with a bit of mackerel braised in milk. Although she bickers endlessly with her canine sibling, when push comes to shove she will protect him. No one is allowed to mess with Buster except her.

Felicity may get into trouble and get things wrong, but with the help of her critters all turns out well in the end.

Patritcia Fisher's policeman DS friend, Mike Atwell, also appears in this book. He is the only police officer to really listen to Felicity and take her seriously.

Jolly good Read!!

I like how the author, Mr. Steve Higgs has a sense of humor that doesn't stop. He writes it in various ways that keeps you wanting to read more. I read all of his Patricia Fisher books and wish there was a hundred more, Felicity was a friend of Patricia's so I assumed they would be quite alike. They aren't but Felicity has an imagination that just bowls you over, she turns from a posh and perfect wedding planner to a hard core private eye in the span of 24 hours. Of course, Vince helps that along with her niece Mindy who works for Felicity and we find out has some major moves of her own. You wrap that up with a very slobbery over weight dog and a huge rag doll cat that only Felicity can hear their thoughts & have conversations with them, you are in for a hilariously over the top read. I can't wait to start the next book... Which I will when I finish this review. One other tidbit that endeared me to these books of Mr. Higgs is there is no swearing, and the way he handles it is in itself Halarious....If you have never read any of his books, they tickle your fancy and are light-hearted real who-done-it mysteries!! I hope you enjoy them half as much as I am. You will want to read them all!!

Trying her best to build her reputation of the best wedding planner, Felicity is under suspicion of murder, gets arresting and has to try to find out who actually did the deed to prove her innocence. I really don’t know what to say about this book without spoiling the story. My ARC arrived and, knowing the series is still in its infancy, I was not expecting anything astounding. Well, how wrong can you be! The interaction between Felicity and her pet cat, Amber and dog, Buster and their antics is hilarious. She has a gift for understanding what they are saying and ropes them in to helping her with the sleuthing. I felt the irritation of the local police and actually gasped at one point because I just didn’t foresee an event happening. As for Vince Slater ....... ladies, I’m sure you will enjoy the very last sentence of the book! I really don’t know where you get your ideas from Mr. Higgs but keep them coming. Looking forward to the next in series.

After reading all the available Albert Smith's Culinary Capers books I started this series as Steve Higgs seems a competent and entertaining author (I left "meaningful" books behind with my youth.) The only reason I gave it 3 stars rather than my normal 4 was that although marketed as "Book 1" I kept running across mentions (spoilers really) from another book that left me thinking I'd come in in the middle of the story. Enough so that I kept re-checking that this actually was Book 1. Now I'm going in search of this other series (Patricia Fisher mysteries I think) so I can read things in proper order.

The culprit is a partner in the printing business.
The cat and Dog are responsible for taking down the culprit.
I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

In Steve's newest series Felicity - Wedding Planner To The Stars - gets embroiled in murder and mayhem when she agrees to put together her friend's daughter's wedding in a quick 12 weeks. Fortunately, Felicity has her two best friends, Buster and Amber, to help her when she gets in way over her head. And of course, Vince is more than willing to lend a helping hand or two. Fascinating characters, engrossing plot lines and the quick and witty banter we have come to love in Steve's books...you won't willingly put it down. It's too much fun and fright.
Outstanding and Very Highly Recommended.

To Love and to Perish

This is a new Steve Higgs series for me. This 1st book was pretty good, but I'm not sure it's up to the standards of Patricia Fisher or Albert Smith! Of course I'm partial to Albert & Rex, so I doubt ANYthing will reach those standards! That said, Mr. Higgs' signature humor is present which earned the 5th Star from me. I can tell already that Felicity, Buster, Amber, & Mindy are going to be going through some disastrous times, & some uproariously funny times as well. I just love his books! Laughter is the best medicine & Dr. Higgs has the right prescription!

Hello, Felicity!

So glad to be back in the charms of author Steve Higgs! For me, it took a while to get into this book but once there, I could hardly put it down. Felicity is a far cry from Patricia Fisher but with Mindy around, she did well for herself. (Mindy rocks!) I like Vince, presumptive rake that he is, a lot more than Felicity does. I'm hoping she defrosts and enjoys his audacity little bit. It's a good story that will keep you guessing. Hoping this series is as addictive as the Patricia Fisher series is!

I was look for a quick, frivolous read and on that level this book succeeded. Felicity Philips is a wedding planner, who can converse non-verbally with her bulldog and her cat. When she is accused of a murder she sets out to find the real killer. However, Felicity is a pretentious, rather mean-spirited, idiotic woman. Her efforts to play detective are clumsy and stupid, and the mystery is only resolved when the murdered tries to kill her. The conversations between her, the dog and the cat get quite annoying. This is one mystery series I will not be following.

Another Higgs series! (I will get to Patricia eventually; after I get done with Felicity, as much as is already written, of course.) Amber and Buster are fun. Felicity, however, is too straight laced for my taste. Perhaps because I was more like her when I was her age? I'd prefer to hang out with Mindy, who sounds cooler than most of those her age. And that Vince sounds like a fun person; Felicity shouldn't be so fast to send him away. The case was solved more or less by tripping over the killer; I think Amber deserves a better human. Recommended.

Cute Premise but a Little Odd

The idea of someone being able to talk to their pets was interesting. Not sure that it really added to the book very much, and after a while I put the book aside, as it just didn't take my fancy. However, recently bored, I picked it up again and finished it. It wasn't a bad story, it did go through some high points, but the end was kind of hard to swallow. Spoiler alert! Don't read this next bit! I'm not sure the bad guy would have just spilled the beans the way he did, if he was as experienced as he said he was.

talking pets to the rescue

After devouring the blue Moon Investigation series, absolutely loved it, I decided to jump into Felicity’s story. I didn’t expect her to actually be able to talk with her pets. Felicity is cultured and elegant, until she accidentally gets involved in a murder investigation. Chief Inspector Quinn shows up and wow, she doesn’t get along with him any better than Tempest did. I laughed so much throughout this story. Felicity’s niece, Mindy, is kick butt ninja wedding planner assistant. Eventually the bad guy goes down but getting there was hilarious

Felicity is a wedding planner, but she finds herself dabbling in solving a murder mystery in this story. She’s starting to make people angry with her accusations. But with the help of her dog and her cat, she just might find the killer. Felicity’s dialogue throughout the story is fun. And her pets also add to the enjoyment. There were lots of fun characters. The narration of the audiobook was very good! It fit the tone of the story.

Mercifully short. Plot was inane & stupefying. I suppose the utter stupidity was supposed to be humorous, but i found it only marginally entertaining but inoffensive. I completed reading it only because it was a quick beach read and I wasn’t ready to tackle my next read American Prometheus. I cannot, for the life of me, account for the generally favorable reviews—and that is part of the reason, along with the brevity of the work, that I forced myself to finish it.

Found it hard to rate this. Writings great. Not really my genre but after finishing the blue moon series I was planning on reading some of the American or Australian blue moon versions. but the authors note said that a lot of characters from other series will be in this series’ final book ( royal wedding ). So guess I need to finish this series before that one is released. And his other series. For completions sake. :). Well played Mr Higgs, Well played. Now onto book 2

Another hit

This will definitely be another amazing series by Steve Higgs. From the first page, this book was exciting. I love how the characters from other books show up in this new series and the new cast of characters is just as zany and will guarantee a lot of laughs. I laughed so loud when Buster tried to clean his human from the "yummy trash."

Great New Series

Steve Highs' new series is just as enjoyable to read as his other books. You can count on him to deliver a clean mystery that is exciting and even funny, if you aren't bothered by a couple of bodies lying about. To make it even better, this series features a dog and a cat!

A great lighthearted read

Shades of Patricia Fisher in this story. I love the talking cat and dog, they bring much light hearted banter. I had an Idea who the culprit was, about half way through the book. I'm looking forward to the next one.
