I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Witchcraft Therapy is an easy to follow and understand guide to teach the reader how to embrace your powers of intention, how to use meditation, rituals to use to help your mind create headrace and get in a better place of thinking to live a happier life. This is a great, no-nonsense book where Mandi Em speaks bluntly about many things and topics. The rituals themselves are easy to follow, simple enough to do and don't require expensive materials to carryout either. The book points towards using things such as journaling, grounding, visualisations and meditations and I loved how all practices can be adapted to fit your needs or to fit your practices or lifestyle. This is a practical yet influential book to help you and your mental health.
This is a surprisingly helpful, fun, in-depth book for folks who want to work on self care, self improvement and stress relief from a Wiccan standpoint. While I'm not Wiccan, I really appreciated the author's voice and advice, and that this isn't a book where you need to buy a bunch of special herbs and tools. As others have pointed out, it's very science-based and doesn't discourage medical care and seeking out experts' help. The meditations and rituals are easy to do and likely be truly helpful for many. Well recommended.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ -- Who doesn't need to banish the bullsh!t! 😂
I don't think anyone can say that the past year and a half hasn't taken its toll on our mental health to some degree. With that in mind, I went into this book with the hope it would offer me some help and guidance as I cope with the world we live in now. Did it achieve that? Yes. I found it to be straightforward, entertaining, easy to read, the rituals easy to follow and easy to apply to my life. A definite recommendation from yours truly. 👍🏻
3.5 stars. Overall, uplifting and inspiring but a little basic. The book also encourages the use of sage as a cleansing tool to all readers, but from my understanding smudging is a closed indigenous practice.
In Witchcraft Therapy , Mandi Em teaches you how to embrace your power of intention, use mindful manifestation, divination, and meditation to cope with what life throws at you. With easy to do rituals to get your mind in the right place, she teaches you how to rewire your thinking to live a happier life.
First off, this book is not an anti-medication or anti-doctor book. Mandi Em repeatedly stresses that it is extremely important to see medical help if you need to. This book is to be used alongside professional care, if you need it, and is not a cure all to everyone's problems.
This book was extremely accessible, easy to read, and extremely easy to apply to your daily life. I really loved Mandi Em’s approach to discussing mental health. She is very blunt and straightforward about everything, which made this feel like you were having a conversation with her. This is not a preachy, or good vibes only book. She treats the reader like a person with a mental illness and I think that is why this book is so relatable and applicable to daily life.
The rituals within the book were extremely easy and practical. You don’t need a lot of materials for most of them and they don’t require belief in Gods or Goddesses to do them. This is all about learning about yourself and using grounding, manifestation, journaling, meditation and visualization to make your mental situation better. Almost all the rituals within this book are easy to use and alter to your own life and practice, which to me, makes this an extremely adaptable and informative book that is perfect for everyone looking for some extra help.
This book was so informative and entertaining! With the author coming from a non-religious, science based background (much like myself), I found that we had similar viewpoints and skepticism. Many times I found myself highlighting not only spells/rituals but insightful nuggets of wisdom. Highly recommend as a self care read for witches and non-witches alike.
This was a fun and informative book to read. I found this was full of basic pagan ideas and strategies to help people struggling with mental health issues and who are part of the pagan faith. Despite the ideas being basic I found them to be helpful - good reminders and refreshers. As a pagan counselor I am happy to see a book like this available and I liked how the author included some of their own experiences with paganism and mental health. Would recommend.
I want to give a huge shout out to Netgalley and they publishers for giving me a copy of this wonderful book! This was my monthly mental health book and I LOVED IT
This book is probably my 8th or 10th witchcraft book and this one was not a disappointment. I feel like there is a huge misunderstanding when it comes to witchcraft. It is not about learning to fly on a broom or become the next Harry Potter, but to focus on yourself and expelling the negative energy that you bring into your life. My favorite quote from this book was “Your believes and how you view both yourself and the world can hugely influence the way you experience and navigate this bitch of a life”. YES!! That is so true and honestly this is what the book focuses on. Building you up and making you realize that life is what you make it. The author focused on becoming a better YOU!! Learning to love your body, coping with burn out, rethink success and breaking toxic patterns in your life were just a few things that the author really digs into.
I have been struggling to find a mental health book that I could take something away from it after reading and put it to use in my own life. I loved this book and there was so many things that I will be pulling into my every day life. Reading this book felt like my strong best friend was hyping me up and really motivating me to be my best self.
I can not recommend this book enough! I think the word “witchcraft” has a lot of stigma and I promise you, this book is worth reading no matter your religion!
I absolutely adored the author's energy and her colorful choice of works. I think I lingered a little longer in these pages in order to bask in her radiance for as long as possible. The way that this book reads is very upbeat and I believe that alone significantly uplifted my overall mood.
But.....
As a seasoned witch, this really wasn't for me. But, I also do not think this is for baby witches either.
The author encourages the reader to use tools like manifestation in order to achieve their goals, but doesn't really explain well enough for those who are beginners to their practice. In my opinion, those who are just starting their journey should probably have a basic understanding before tackling this book.
But on the other hand, as someone who has been practicing for several years, this was no where near challenging enough. If I am being honest, it felt like a bunch of recycled information. I didn't really gain anything from this book, because it was all information that I already knew from other sources.
Im not going to sit here and say this wasn't a good book, but I cant deny that this is something that really only benefits a very specific group of individuals. It wasn't for me but it certainly can benefit somebody out there.
Oh gods. The most important thing you need to know about my review is that I dnf-ed around 30% because I couldn't bear wasting my time and energy on this book anymore.
Most other readers seemed to enjoy it though? I really don't know why?
The first thing that bothered me, which is a very personal thing, is the writing itself. It reads like an overly excited teenager. I couldn't take it serious and I got more annoyed by the second.
Other than that, the book is based on the Law of Attraction, which I see very critically. Very, very critically.
Also "Self-help is hard (and therapy is expensive!), but magic makes it easier than ever." FUCKING NO! YOU CAN'T FUCKING USE MAGIC INSTEAD OF THERAPY OR MEDICINE!
Disclaimer: I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this book. I really enjoyed the "to-the-chaseness" the author embraces the topic with; including many practical, modern, easy and senseful rituals. Worth buying it in physical. It's a must-read and -have. Friendly to beginners!
This book was received as an ARC from Adams Media in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.
I was very pleased with the context of this book. I thought it would be mostly spells that were in this book but, this book was mostly compiled of tips and remedies that were natural and safe to do. The practices and information displayed in this book I believe our patrons will be interested in and of course with these books they generally shy away from the word witchcraft thinking its all about sacrificing and powers.
We will consider adding this title to our Self Help collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
I wrote this review in response to the authors question, on the authors private Facebook group page, HOT MESS COVEN CLUB. Mandi simply asked in a post on her group page if there were any readers out there. Mandi mentioned since becoming a mom, sitting and reading a book was difficult for her to prioritize. I answered this question on her post and it turned into a review of her ABSOLUTELY LIFE CHANGING book: WITCHCRAFT THERAPY: I typically listen to books on audible only. Your book I listened 👂🏻to on audible and have listened to entire book📗 three times. Then I also wanted your book in print… 📗because I Love ❤️ your book so much. I often still listen to different chapters regularly… to refresh myself of all the different therapies that you convey in your book. I also have your book on iBooks 📲on my phone… so I can easily check what I need to purchase for various 🪄therapies/spells/rituals. Overall, your book is uplifting and full of awesome mental health advice to self improvement advise! All this included with an action (the actual witch craft therapy) to really learn the tip or advice you are teaching. 🪄Your book 📖 is full of lessons to help anyone who reads your book to make the most out of life! 😊 As well as advice to help those who read it get through certain struggles of life as well. All this while reminding the reader to be gentle with ourselves too … the importance of self love and not being so hard on ourselves. Your book is not only full of therapy for anyone who reads your book but it is also full of hope. In your book you help the reader also see certain life events from a different perspective that offers hope. I am going to use this now as a review for your book, that I’ve been meaning to do! I give your book 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Your book is really my most favorite book EVER… because your book is truly life changing for anyone who reads Witchcraft Therapy. 🪄
Sorry had to dnf this 50% in. Its a good concept but I wanted witchcraft. Not "a mental health self help book but hey let's try being a witch" I honestly tried so hard but when she mentioned depression, mental health , anxiety constantly I just could not connect. Also you could totally make a drinking game out of that. Take a shot everytime she says those words you'll be drunk by 30 %.
I'm really not sure how someone could practice the craft and be in those energies. This isn't a good guide for baby witches unaware of what could happen as a result of doing something in a less than stable state of mind.
I don’t think it’s the worst book but it feels more like someone’s new age spirituality blog. One that’s trying to be fun and relatable rather than a witchcraft book. Everyone has different paths that are valid but this didn’t hit the mark for me.
i've finally finished this, and boy what a journey it has been. as a psychology nerd and spiritual witch, the sects in which the two intertwine have always been my favorite aspects of the craft to learn about (hello jungian psychology and shadow work 👋). this book didn't teach me much i didn't already know, but it reminded me of many important things and reignited many ideas and brought them back to the forefront of my mind. i haven't tried any of the spells, but i have several saved for later. this was an enjoyable read and i really liked the author's unique voice. from manifesting your goals and truly looking inward and seeking balance, this book has it all. i'd highly recommend to anyone new to the subject, or anyone like me who knows their shit but needs a refresher.
It’s been a rough couple of weeks and this this book was everything I needed it to be. It’s amazing the spiritual and calming effects nature can have on you once you incorporate it into your daily routine.
A great and easy read, gives a real down to earth approach on discussing heavy topics about the self, and ties witchcraft in to embrace the person you want to be and to leave behind the things keeping you from being that person.
I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this. I would definitely recommend for anyone interested in starting mixing witchcraft with self care and self discovery.
A useful, entertaining and informative book. It's well written and full of useful ideas. It's recommended. Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I was a little worried by the many uses of "AF," "boss babe," and overall swearing, but this was a solid read! Em is my kind of witch, interested in practicing while also being practical in understanding that you need more than a ritual or spell to truly help you, like therapy. This was such a refreshing read, I'll definitely check out more of her books!
Even as an everyday person reading this it is quite insightful on a beginner journey. It’s so well written you feel as if the author is speaking to you.
A lot f good everyday tips. Would highly recommend
Don't be fooled by the title, this book discusses a lot of practices that can be used in witchcraft, but are also used by other practices all over the world. Grounding, Meditation, and Visualization are practiced outside of witchcraft and are useful for your mental health no matter you beliefs. However, this book does talk about it in tandem with witchcraft, this book could be useful to anyone looking to get started in any of those things. Since witchcraft is in the title though there are a lot of other more magical elements to it including various self-care rituals. These rituals are great because they don't require a lot of materials, so even those of us who are feeling a little poor right now can practice.
Overall, I would recommend this book for people looking to a little magical self-care and peace of mind. The writing is funny and relatable. However, the author does state that these are not meant to replace therapy, they are meant to go along with it.
Thank you to Netgalley and Adams Media for an eARC of this book, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am in love with this book!! I can't get enough of it!! I love the tone of the author and her down to approach to the craft. I love her practicality and the tools she gives you to be the best magical person you can be. I highly recommend this book as it is a must-read! I voluntarily read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
I received a copy of this book directly from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Whether you are a practicing witch or someone who thinks the craft is all very woo-woo, I think you could benefit by giving this book a read. I really appreciated the no-bull, practical approach the author took to writing this book. It was full of recipes, rituals, and mindful exercises to help the reader with grounding themselves and dealing with things like stress and anxiety while reminding them that sometimes the best thing to do is speak to a doctor or a therapist, and take a proactive approach to their own self-care.
This is certainly a book I'd recommend to anyone looking to improve their overall well-being as well as those new to witchcraft, as it has a very practical and balanced approach that I feel most readers will enjoy.
